Everyone makes mistakes. It is how we roll with them and learn from them that makes it fun.

So good! I am making an oil painting of my grandmother with her sewing machine in the back, so I learned a lot about the structure of a sewing machine, by watching your video. Thanks!

This brought back memories. I learned to sew on my grandmother’s foot treadle machine so slightly different than the one shown.

This is fantastic. Just like my beloved Grandmother's which she left to me, it's pride of place in my living room. Big thank from South Wales U.K. 🧵💫

This is going to inspire me to draw and paint my 1904 Jones Family CS hand crank sewing machine. I’m thrilled you chose to do this as a tutorial. Thank you so much Sarah.
PS your Christmas Sloth pot holders have insulbright in them so there good for holding hot things.

What a treat to paint this wonderful machine. My husband inherited one from his mother. Who knows where she got it, but we think it was her mother’s. Anyway I’m thrilled to paint this one. Thank you for these sewing specials.

wow... just caught up with this video. giving away my age.... I remember my mom had this style sewing machine (in the 60's) which, in fact, was her father's!!! so that machine is dating back to the 30's/40's!!! It was upgraded so my mom had a foot pedal instead of the hand crank...Fun to watch this video!!!

Super fun! Can't wait to get started. Loved the additional star and dot embellishments! Reminds me of how magical sewing can be when you've completed a project or outfit.

Fun lesson! Psst! There's a sheen on the paint brush and the tip of the pen sitting there on the paper towel, in case that helps.

Love this!!!! Also the reason that honey brown n black lean towards green is because most basic blacks in watercolor lean towards blue and have more of a blue pigment in them and the honey brown leans more yellow and has more yellow pigment and we all know yellow and blue make green :) I can’t wait to paint this and the bird with the thread you did also!! It’s going to make an awesome art journal page!!!! 🧵 🐦 🪡 🎨 📚

Thanks for this great tutorial! I added some extra things like a needle and presser foot (that little piece that holds the fabric where needles goes in and out) as both of those are needed to make the machine work. Singer was one of the early machines, but Brother, Janome and Baby Lock are more contemporary makers of sewing machines.😏

anyone else have issues with the bronze ink reconstituting the black watercolor? Any tips on what to do? The bronze doesn’t pop even when dry because it turned black :( otherwise I loved this tutorial and can’t wait to give my painting to my quilting mother!

I also have issues with bronze ink! It doesn’t always turn out as I like it to be! 😕

In caking, most blacks have green or purple undertones, so it can cause struggle doing lighter shades without them turning into their undertones.. Maybe same with watercolor
