I love Jenny! as a long time quilter, I am so glad when you have her on with you! A mixture of my longtime love of quilting with my new love watercolor!
Whaaaaat? My two favourite crafts and ppl in the same video! What a happy day! Thanks to you both for the quilting lessons and I've made about a billion penguins. 😁
Wait, wait….have I died and gone to heaven? How can quilting and watercolor be together? Now I am wondering if Jenny every watercolors a quilt top to great inspiration. It loved this. Is there a connection?
LMA always has an amazingly free art lesson. Outside of that, I felt like I was sitting around a table of old friends who were sharing stories of each other. Thanks for making art comfortable.
Being a lefty I can so relate with Jenny's turning the paper and all. Both are gorgeous and I will be doing this as I am also a quilter. Thanks for the fun video.
I love your videos. I've been watching Jenny's quilt making for awhile so I was almost shocked when Jenny was in your class , I loved it because I to am a lefty so seeing her work helped me to see that it can be done by us leftys. Love your humor.
I love this project! Jenny's quilting class on Craftsy was one off my first classes as a new quilter, and Sarah is my first teacher in watercolor. A perfect combination! Thank you both.
Oh my gosh! I saw the painting of the bird and spool and knew I had to paint it for my sister who is a quilter and magnificent seamstress. I had no idea your guest was Missouri Quilt Star owner until half way through the video. My sister loves her!! That just makes it all the better that I paint this for my loving Sis. We are miles apart and this will bring us just a little closer. Thank you to you both.
Hello Janet! We are absolutely thrilled you joined us for this special tutorial with Sarah and Jenny! When you're ready to paint, be sure and let us know. We're happy to help with any questions, and we have lots more watercolor tutorials for future projects available here on our TH-cam channel and at letsmakeart.com!
A Sewing Bird is actually a tool that was used to secure fabrics to the edge of a table for hand sewing back in the day before sewing machines were invented. It was a clamp secured to the edge of the table, with a vague bird shape. The beak opened to secure the fabric.
I have loved this bird since I saw it in the special 24 days of Christmas box. It wasn't available to anyone else at the time but now it is. I'm going to get one right away and frame it for my quilt studio. Wonderful job ladies! I'm so excited!!!
I hope to visit your studio one day! I'm in Chesterfield MO!! I have had a lot of fun painting & working along with your water color & Jessie's art journal videos!!
I truly enjoyed watching the two of you and listening to Keenan as well. Very entertaining while teaching great techniques. Best video I have seen anywhere in a long time. I did not paint along, since I have my leg in a cast, so hard for me to sit at my watercolor desk, but plan to paint this bird at a later date. It was fun (took a sip a wine)☺️😍👍
I'm a lefty too, and my strategy is -- if I remember to do it -- I flip the bird in my drawing program so they're facing left. Then I can do the brush strokes just like Sarah does but without turning my poor bird on their head. ;-). Handedness really matters in painting. I can't wait to paint this lovely bird. I'm just very glad he/she isn't sitting on a pin cushion, LOL.
Woohoo! We are so excited to hear that, Debbie! Thank you so much for joining us! If you are looking for more information on how to get started painting with watercolors, be sure and check out our Watercolor Beginner Series right here: www.letsmakeart.com/pages/2020-watercolor-catalog Happy painting!
Binging again! I’m going to try this! Thank you. Keenan the bird is not Gala as you were saying. It is Ga lar. Or gu lar. Best I can do phonetically lol. Your pronunciation made me giggle and was a topic at the lunch table here in Australia today! Best wishes to you all. I LOVE this channel. I have never seen anyone teach like this on TH-cam and provide the resources you do! Xxx
I love this little bird on the spool. I’m free handing the drawing instead of tracing, I’m working on sketching. I’ll paint him a little later, once I’m happy with it I plan to send to a sewing buddy.
Hi Sarah I was wondering if there is any way I can reduce the size of the outline. A PDF file is not easy to reduce size any suggestions? Thanks. Love your tutorials.
Hi Joyce! This project was a special collaboration with Jenny Doan for her Count Down to Christmas box that we are now offering for our customers as well as a stand alone bonus project.
All of our free outlines can be accessed within our Outline Library. They are listed in alphabetical order, so for the Sewing Bird you'll want to go down to the "S" section. www.letsmakeart.com/pages/outline-library-login
Ok so that blew my mind. I was starting to think American husbands had similar voices 😂 no insult intended. I didn’t cotton on before (pardon the pun) having only just discovered this great channel. I thought the faces and voices were familiar to me and it fell into place on starting to watch this video. I must live under a rock too Jenny that or I’m the least observant Brit 🇬🇧 on the planet. The first quilt I ever made years ago was the Missouri big star quilt and Jenny has been a favourite teacher of mine for many many years!
Hi Lauren! This project was an exclusive collaboration with Missouri Star Quilt Company. We are planning to release the project and outline to our customers in the near future though.
I just looked up a pink Robin. We absolutely need this in a watercolor kit just FYI.... Or if anyone wants to make this thread bird a pink Robin, I don't have fb to see everyone's work but maybe LMA can post to insta because I don't think I need an account to see those

Hi Anne! This project was exclusive to Missouri Star Quilt Company customers who purchased the holiday gift box. We do not have an outline available for it at this time. We hopefully will in the future.
So what happened to the free download button🤷♀️now you have to put it in cart enter credit card information or use paypal which then costs 1 cent which is not free :) I don't remember having to do that awhile back.
Hi Ruth! Our system updated last spring. As you go throughout the check out process it will not ask you to put a card in any longer and will instead process for free as the price of our outlines are $0.00.
Awe! Sarah, who taught me how to paint with watercolor and Jenny who taught me how to make a quilt. Two of my favorite artists.
I am a quilter who is just learning to paint with watercolor. I love bluebirds. Oh this is just so perfect for me. Thank you.
Oh my goodness! I love that Jenny Doan is your guest. What an unexpected treat. Thank you!!!
Please have Jenny again, she’s such a happy person like you !

Great idea, I too am a lefty🤓

Yes, when in your print screen you can adjust the click for More Options and change the scale of your outline as desired.
