    The warm ups help me getting into the right mindset. Since I'm not an experienced painter, seeing things each week/ each tutorial, helps me practice and get warmed up. Just like doing scales before getting into a music practice.

    I like the warm ups. Sarah you always add a bit of wisdom that I don’t even think you’re intending too. Plus the time stamps are great!! For this tutorial, I could have used a warm up on using the bleed proof white and understanding the shapes in the foam. Thanks! I always learn so much from you.

    I loved this painting. The layers and the effects are super fun and super easy. I love the warm-up in the tutorial if there are specifics like say trees or value change for a bear face. I think it gets me ready and helps me focus on the areas that I need.

    The Midwest has great beaches! Northern IN has Lake Michigan and lots of lakes all over the state. The water and beaches are different, of course, but still beautiful to paint. Love the tutorials, keep up the good work!

    I paint with my 8 year old daughter, and we have watched the tutorials, and they were a great start for me since I am a very new beginner. But we both miss the warm-ups. They are a great review and a way to get started. Please leave them!!!!!!!

    Please keep the warm-ups in the beginning!! It's really helpful for those of us who are new to practice the skills we'll be using for each tutorial in particular at the beginning of each tutorial, rather than feeling like we need to go back and learn how to watercolor in order to get started with the tutorial. That's what makes your tutorials so accessible and approachable- I don't feel like I need to already know what I'm doing before I even start. Maybe it's redundant for other people to have to have go over the basics every single time, but for some of us, it's really great! Thanks :)

    The shading of the water reminds me of the Emerald Coast along the Florida panhandle...the dark blue occurs where the deep water begins...the only difference is that the beaches are made of white sugar sand...not sure how that would be painted - I always watch the tutorial the night before I paint with it...just to think about it a bit before I begin...I love your classes and your happy, sharing, caring heart....

  • @melissajay7596

    I watched several of your classes prior to subscribing... You truly are a wonderful teacher and I'm excited about the subscription because of how well you teach.. I've learned so much in just 2 days but have been painting with watercolors for 6 months. I previously used only acrylics and I have found that I'm constantly using acrylic techniques, which doesn't always work. I have watched many tutorials and subscribed to a few instructors and I'm always disappointed. I learn something new with every tutorial I watch from Lets Make Art! Great job!

    I think referring people to the beginner series is a good idea. Maybe do a warm up if it is a new technique or something specific to the project. Like the fan brush for the panda fur.

    Honestly I am happy to see the warm ups gone - I only appreciate them when they're a new technique or one that we'll be using a LOT of in the particular painting! I am also a HUGE fan of the new sections you have on your videos - makes it easier if you're just skipping through!

    You're my favorite! :) By way of feedback in terms of the warm-ups, I appreciate the timesaver, but would love if you could still take 30 seconds just to tell us which warm-ups from your beginner series would be helpful for the particular project we're doing that week. That would be so helpful! (I'm still a newbie--just couple of months in--so warm-up practice really helps if I know what to plan on for that project.) Thank you!!

    Mty first viewing of this, and I love you both even more. I grew up on the Jersey Shore, I am a crummy swimmer, who can't tread water, and hates being in water that's really deep. I sink when I try to tread. And as a kid, LOL, the first way I learned to float was 'the dead man's float', face down, and utterly useless if you want to actually swim!

    • @LetsMakeArt
      @LetsMakeArt  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      ...Not sure if any swimming method called dead man's float is a good way to learn to swim.

    I find the warm ups helpful even if it's just watching(though I always try to do it along with). It helps me get a feel for what we're doing in the project. I mean obviously I can just watch the video and rewind but I like just seeing the general technique for the specific project before jumping in. If it's too much work or no one else likes that I totally understand but I personally like having that step. I feel like doing the warm up step is important and if it's removed I'll just skip it lol. BUT that's a me problem. I've also watched through the beginner series previously and while it's helpful and a good reference, the quick reminder without having to switch videos, is always nice.

    I love the water! I float really easily and always have though I am not the strongest swimmer. My husband swam to keep from drowning and that is just what it looked like! He worked SO hard and made so little progress. I could never teach him to relax or to float. He DID not love the water. The beach is my happy place and I want to decorate my spare room with a beach theme and I think I will be trying this painting in there. Thanks for great tutorial!

    • @LetsMakeArt
      @LetsMakeArt  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You could totally try that. I checked with Sarah and she said it could work but if there is too much it might turn muddy so I would advise mixing small amounts to achieve the color you are looking for.

    I feel like it's very helpful to have project-specific warm-ups. You could always link to the tutorials if people feel like they need more practice. You can also put timestamps in the description to skip it. I just think that for the casual watercolor artist, it is still helpful.

    I feel like the warmups are helpful . Especially when aimed at something specific - practicing wet on wet, tree lines, etc. I guess I could always do it myself but hard to anticipate exactly what I should warm up with or practice with unless you watch video in advance (which I usually do). Maybe you could just make some suggestions if you wanted to not actually do it to save time?

    In my opinion painting with out warm-ups is like singing without warm ups. I know Sarah must feel she has said the same thing over and over again...and she has. It is so important to get ready to paint. I have been following. LMA for a year and a half , painted every thing she has offered from the first one to today... I love warming up. Just a thought.

    • @LetsMakeArt
      @LetsMakeArt  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, you have a few different choices. You can scan your finished work and save a copy digitally, place under UV protected glass, or use a UV fixative spray. Test the spray on a warm up paper first. Krylon makes a good one.
