If you're worried about the Kree sun, have no fear. At the very end, Captain Marvel flies into it and reignites it. She reignited a star that was dormant because of a civil war. Also, there's a whole subplot involving Fury and his space station and cats. There are flurrgen eggs all over the ship like tribbles and they swallow the crew and get them to earth because there is only one escape pod left. I'm not making any of this up.

I liked the insightful "Worst Marvel movie to date" instead of what others would say, "worst ever", "worst of all times". This guy doesn't underestimate Disney's capacity to make movies bad.

"Use that magick I know you have!" is something people would say. But for some reason it was CRITICAL what we know he didn't want any WHITE magick or MALE magick. That's right out!
I love this, a writer explaining why the writing and storytelling as a whole are bad. While the people at marvel call anyone who doesn’t like it “racist “ or “sexist “ we the fans see what it really is. They need to fix up soon or it will be over for them 😂
Maybe I'm just getting old, but I remember when Movie Theater popcorn was MUCH better. These days, the theaters near me, use some kind of salt alternative, and the "butter" is just flavorless oil. Kind of like what the current MCU is to entertainment. A cheap and failing substitute.
I did notice that too!!!! The popcorn butter taste like some seed oil with artificial butter flavor now!!! Back in 2000s in Texas I can still remember the staff refilling the butter machine with blocks of butter that was wrapped in wax paper. (They removed the paper obviously)
I work in fast food and about 15 years ago changed to using a "liquid butter alternative". It comes in a jug off the truck and is liquid at room temperature. If you ever have a breakfast mcmuffin or a biscuit from BK, it's drenched in this stuff. I'm sure theaters are using the exact same gunk. When I was a teenager, we still had real eggs and real butter that was melted in a metal container sat on the grill.
"Have you seen it?" It will take another decade or two of severe self loathing to hate myself enough to subject myself to watching this. Thank you for your sacrifice.
Stop giving those people your money!! The MCU is done. But I do agree that movie popcorn is S tier and the only reason to go to the theater at this point. And adding the Taylor swift cup in place of your tea was an excellent detail. Great video as always!
The "original cut" of this film (I heard) was around 2 hours 47 minutes long, including credits (without it would be around 2 1/2 hours) and they cut it down to 1 hour 45 minutes (without credits it's roughly 88 minutes long) in an attempt to fix the bad to abysmal test screenings. This alone should have told Disney it was going to be sh!t, but they released it anyway hoping it would do well 🤦♂🤣
Interesting if that is true because I’ve read a couple of interviews with the director where she claims the shorter runtime as her plan from the start. But she left the movie in post to go direct something else, so…..
@@gregowen2022they were probably contractually obligated to release it in theaters.... They were most likely trying to avoid another lawsuit like with black widow...

I get more excited for Greg reviews than I do other major channels. You have all of the real takes on stuff and really thought-out opinions. So fun to listen to.
Thanks so much for this great review. You are quickly rising up towards my "most trusted reviewer" position. There's no pay raise or really anything associated with this position except a hearty "Good job!" So there's that.
Thank you for taking another hit for us. I have not been interested in going to a theater for many years, maybe that comes with being old and having seen so many takes on themes and tropes that even if something might be objectively good I have likely already seen an earlier version of it. The current crop of weeds is so bad I am staring to loose respect for my friends that still actively throw their money at it.
Well, I appreciate you watching me instead. From what I’ve seen lately, you’re not wrong to avoid the theater. There are some good ones, but nothing recently that is a must see event
I heard recently that if Disney had actual leadership then they'd be asking themselves WHY every woman in the world saw Barbie but literally no women are seeing their girlpower MCU movies...
Every woman in the world saw Barbie because of Ryan Gosling and how hot he is, and a lot of guys probably also saw it because of Margot Robbie and how hot she is as well.
@@NexusKin I'm sure this was a massive part of the appeal, but I think the larger reason is that Barbie felt very girly. Whereas the MCU just makes really masculine characters then casts women for the roles so it never actually resonates with women.
@@rochetstrider8725 I think it's how the story was written. The Barbie movie was a much more about the relationships between characters and less about action and heroism. I think women just resonate more with relationship driven stories.
I will say one positive thing that came out of the marvels. I found this channel, that helps us work through all the terribleness that is going on with marvel nowadays. Thanks 👍
The fact that the critics in my country has nothing to say about the movie aside from the fact that it has a cat… Oh and btw this movie came on theaters at such an unfortunate time too,in my country, there’re 3-4 local movies in the theaters…and two of them are very popular locally. One is about a guy who had to move on from his girlfriend’s death, while his friend who works in funeral industry could see the ghost of his girlfriend…I’ve heard it was extremely well written and it doesn’t even have any star in the movie, all the actors aren’t famous at all,but the movie makes a hella lot if money. Another one is a horror movie about a haunting spirit in a house way back in the 60’s or 70’s. I’ve heard that it was really scary and well written. Hollywood ain’t getting no chance in my country rn 😂😂😂
Something I don't think was mentioned: this movie relied on previous Marvel content more than any non-Avengers movie yet. It relied on you having seen Infinity War, Captain Marvel, Endgame, Wandavision, Ms Marvel, Secret Invasion (yes, three Disney+ shows!) and more than that it does almost nothing to catch you up if you've missed any of that. For example, there's a throwaway line or two about Rambeau getting her powers from walking through a witch's forcefield, but how does that make any kind of sense if you haven't actually seen the show?
Yes. This is a big reason that just can't care anymore. Before Endgame, you could watch maybe 5 movies (any 5 really) and mostly be caught up for the next Avengers movie. The plot to each of those movies (including the 3 Avengers movies that weren't direct sequels) started at the beginning of their story and didn't really rely on the plots of previous movies (having knowledge of the previous plots does add to it though). Now you have to have already watched 30+ hours of content just to understand who the MAIN CHARACTERS of your story are. This goes beyond "interconnected story" and has just become "homework." I always hated homework.
8:17-8:35 The Amazing World of Gumball actually had that as a joke when Darwin got obsessed with texting, got his phone confiscated at school and said aloud "OMG! OMG! U hav 2 HLP!" then Gumball tells him "Dude, text slang is for phones We use real words when we talk."😂
The singing planet sounds like one of those 80's Irish Spring soap commercials I used to watch. "There's something bout Irish Spring; it makes me wanna sing..." 😂
I think them finding out the king is bilingual was probably the funniest like in that entire film. So much that i think that the entire idea of them only being able to sing was made just to have this joke work. Because like you said after the joke its never once reintroduced.
I like some of Samuel L Jackson's roles. But this is a man who read the script for "snakes on a plane" and still signed on the dotted line. Can't blame him, we'd probably all make the same choice.
OMG 😳--you nailed it. The "black girl magic" thing. You're right--its JUST like "LOL!!" Marvel Phase 4 and 5 projects all have characters who TALK--the way these FOOLS WRITE ON TWITTER!!! AAAAAHHHHHH!!!! No wonder why I wanna STRANGLE these characters!! They don't talk like REAL PEOPLE ANYMORE!!!!
The problem with this movie is the fact that they failed in every aspect that makes a good movie - no emotions ( What makes a good movie is how you make the audience have emotional investment ) - no good character chemistry - weaker villain than hero - no stakes in this movie ( there is no big difference between before and after the movie ) - you plot is so simple , you can summarise it in 5 lines How is this movie 300 million dollars
Predictable plot ✅ Bunch of misfit heroes forced to unite need to resolve their differences and learn to work together to save the world... How many superhero movies have the exact same premise? 20? 30? Don't forget the obligatory sacrifice... Bad humor ✅ Using Nick Fury as comic relief is not what fans want more of or asked for. They made one of the coolest, most badass characters in the MCU take a back seat and just make him throw around stupid comments that weren't even funny. You will notice how unfunny it gets if you watch a second time. They also keep repeating the same formulaic humor of putting some bad joke to diffuse any tension or drama, for example: Kamala's parents' house gets destroyed after aliens try to kill the family, but the movie asks us not to take the killing attempt seriously by inserting humor. The family, therefore, never seems to be at any real danger. It should be something dramatic, painful, scary, traumatic, sad with probably someone seriously hurt that makes them upset, worry, angry. It should create conflict between Kamala and her parents,... But nope, Disney doesn't want any darkness or take anything remotely serious... everything has to be a joke and inconsequential. Boring one-dimensional characters ✅ There is no real personal conflict in this movie for any of the characters. One of the main aspects of a good superhero movie is the hero struggling with some inner conflict or flaw that they need to resolve to grow and become a better hero and make things better. There is none of that here. Kamala is just happy to be working with Carol as she is a fan, but she never stops putting her on a pedestal. She keeps thinking she is amazing and flawless from beginning to end, and she is just happy to be her new "sis." There is a brief moment which hints that Carol could be not as perfect as Kamala thinks when she is letting people die because they obviously can't save all, but it's never fully explored, as it's resolved immediately with a hug. No personal character arc ✅ Kamala somehow is already good at martial arts and fighting, without having any training whatsoever... And no just because you get a bracelet that gives you magical powers doesn't mean you suddenly become an expert acrobatic fighter. She has no real internal conflict; she wants to be Carol's partner, and somehow she is already ready for universe-level stakes, despite her inexperience... She risks nothing; she is never under any real threat; she never questions herself whether she should be doing this hero thing or not? She never seems to lack confidence, bravery, or anything... She never wonders if her family is more important or if this hero life is harder than she imagined. She just gets the work done with her partners and goes home ready to seek the next adventure. I bet it's just so much fun being a hero, isn't it? It's almost like playing basketball as a hobby after school, right? Real heroes don't do the hero thing for fun; they do it out of a sense of responsibility and know damn well it's a huge sacrifice and a painful experience that can put everyone they love at risk, not just themselves. But we get none of that with Kamala, other than her parent's house being destroyed, which is resolved as "whoopsie, hehe, didn't mean to, ok byeeee!” Forgettable villain ✅ One trailer they released a week before the release tried to sell this as Thanos’s daughter or follower, who was gonna get his job done. This is false advertisement. She's just mad at Carol for destroying her world and wants to steal resources from the world Carol cares about to rebuild her own world. Every time she is on screen, she is never really much of a threat to the main characters; they kick her ass constantly, and the third act battle is won so easily. She never does any real damage to the main characters... sure, some Skrulls that one cares about or knows die because they can’t save them, but you are not really invested in their deaths because they are extras in the movie, not real characters we care for their survival. I struggle to remember her name without looking it up. This might be the lamest villain in the entire MCU, no kidding… Ridiculous cats eating innocent people "to save them"?? ✅ There is a scene where some cats start eating innocent people because there is apparently no other way to save them from an upcoming explosion in the space station that they have to escape from. You would wonder what makes Nick Fury and the heroines think that a weird bunch of dangerous cats eating a person (against their will) somehow is a good idea to save them, why would they think the cat will then vomit those people without any harm? Why would they even still be alive after they ate and digested them? Why would they think those people won't need therapy after that? Why does Marvel Studios, Disney, and Kevin Feige think that going from ants defeating the main bad guy of the multiverse saga to cats eating innocent people is somehow a winning strategy that will make people hyped for the MCU's future? I suppose they just wanted people to not ask questions and consume the next product, which brings me to the: Post-credit scene ✅ You had Beast from the original Fox X-men and María Rambeau from another universe as Binary... In theory, one should get excited, but then again, you can't help but think, why should I get excited after watching this movie? They'll probably Disneyfy them, make the X-men a total unfunny joke or parody, where maybe a bunch of teddy bears defeat Magneto who will probably act like a clown as comic relief, and with no permanent consequences to any character and no character arcs whatsoever other than "I'm already perfect and I need to remember/recognize that to show how amazing I always was." It's the kind of movie that no one will talk about or remember two weeks from now because it feels like a filler episode of a "Disney channel" series. There are TikTok videos far more satisfying than this. On the positive side: They improved Carol’s personality, and she seems more likable now, and I guess Kamala steals the show by being overexcited to be there, but that’s to the detriment of the movie because her vibe is just too playful and childish, making the movie feel like a thing to laugh at than to take seriously. It’s a movie meant for people who like McDonald’s food and eating the same shitty Big Mac over and over and over... If you expect a memorable restaurant experience, this is not it.
I love how Darbend needed a planet's atmosphere, but upon her introduction, we can see her and her henchmen breathing on what appears to be a moon. Also, why didn't Monica keep her space suit when the first swap occurred?
I still don't get why the sun went out because of .... plot? Not to mention how their whole solar system didn't vanish with their sun going out. Someone get me Neil DG on the phone!!!
Another great review, Greg! Two things you mentioned that deserve to be explored and expanded: The fact that the director bailed and took off with 2.5 weeks of work left to go on the movie! As you said, that shows you how important directors, and any vision they may have, is NOT to this corporate sausage making "film" company. Ask Joe Johnston if he wants to work with Marvel again after 2012. Also, the subtle racism in these movies of, as you say, pairing them up with other women of color. Girl Power, indeed. The MCU's racist attitude and writing has all the subtlety of a fart.
The real question, would you rather watch this again or Murder on the Nile? It’s the last movie I saw that came out in the last 5 years and I was just angry the whole time. Felt corporate and AI made too
Argh! My shared misery. That was one of the WORST! The CGI was terrible. It was so obvious they weren't near a single drop of water and not on a boat. Plus the insertion of modern sensibilities onto the Black actress that were completely UNREALISTIC for the time period.
I haven't seen the film (nor do I want to), but I think that the reason why Kamala was able to use her powers without the Nega band is because a "mutation" had occurred within her genes. So not only that Kamala is the first MUTANT in the MCU, but the post credit scene is another example of how Marvel was desperate to get butts on the seat, instead of writing a good story. Also the reason why beast looks terrible is because this scene was shot very late into production. So yeah, DESPERATION!!!
It all smacks of horrible desperation. Now the audience is leaving and they are begging everyone, “please, we’ll do the xmen now if you want, we swear!”.
You know how people were saying Marvel was overpowered and could fix any issue in the story? She can fly faster than light (I.E. infinite power) She can apparently alter the molecular amount/composition of star-size entities She can jump through dimensions/reality At this point, the only character who could beat her is She-Hulk who can just talk to/threaten the writer to win...
You hit so many of the same issues I had. I'm still confused how the bad girl had to find an ancient kree artifact but Kamalas grandma had one...cuz..... And I thought maybe I was missing something about Kamalas powers - was it the bangle? Was it her? And then the bad guy uses both bangles and dies....then 4 minutes later, Kamala does THE EXACT SAME THING and is perfectly fine. And then after that, the second bangle just disappears...no explanation. Did she lose it? Did the cat eat it? Did they rebury it? Don't know.
Independent of all the other reasons that I will not be seeing this film, the most significant is that they're behind a Walled Garden so I'm unfamiliar with them and I know I would have to pay money to come up to speed on them. I think this is a significant factor for any movie Disney tries to make about characters they have hidden behind their wall.
They might have been better off just making it "Captain Marvel II". At least the general public knows who she is without needing to subscribe to Disney+.
I never liked Kelsey Grammer as the Beast. They should've had Morbius show up turn the squealing teenager into a vampire, then the two of them fly off shouting in unison, "It's Morbin time!" Then they could've played the Larry David show music and all the Marvel stans would've wet themselves 😅
"What X-Men story are they going to tell this time?" Ooh! Ooh! Can they do Dark Phoenix again? They're *sure* to get it right this time! [/heavy sarcasm]
Knowing the way these writers think they'll probably tell that recent story of the mutant girl who went around killing people because of a sea turtle that choked on a bag. But they'll spin it so she's the hero and everyone else is the problem and she's just misunderstood.
Disney killed MCU. Your review is spot on and excellently done. The art of storytelling has left Disney and been replaced by unacceptable political propaganda garbage. What is problematic about the current products coming from the MCU is when the critic/fans try to point out the obvious plot holes is Disney response. Kinda getting tired of guilt being used as their go to method of damage control. Calling anyone who criticizes their movies an ism’s has got to stop. Disney just need to stay out of politics and focus back on the basics. Write a good story first then go into production. This movie is over priced poorly written and a waste of time to see. You can see that all the talented storytellers have shifted to anime. Disney please fire theses talentless writers and find the people that know the art of storytelling.
Agreed. They can’t tell a story and they forgot that skin color and genitals don’t make a character. They really think some flashy action and representation are a story. It’s sad
When I was a child Disney would make low budget movies for kids like Escape From Witch Mountain or Condorman. They are not classics or examples of brilliant cinema but they were fun with coherent scripts, competent directing, and sane budgets that almost always made sure they would make a profit. Maybe they should stop with the Marvel and Star Wars for a while instead of phoning in garbage and hoping it makes a billion dollars.
They also hit large numbers of verified audience instantly, often days before the film officially releases, TLJ being the stand-out example of that. Yet the VA numbers grow very slowly afterward. It's strange how half of the verified audience all score the film on the same day, right at the start, almost like Disney is just buying thousands of tickets to post their own score.
One thing I can disagree with is everyone claims they only switch when the plot ask for it, but everything is convent when the plot demands it…. Not to mention it’s also explained they can’t use their powers at the same time.
Thanks for your review. I will still go see it and judge for myself since I don’t trust anyone’s opinions. A lot of people form their opinions from past experience rather than observations so I like to see what I think then compare it to others.
How can I get out of here without liking and commenting when you managed to smoothly squeeze Henry Rollins on the video not once, but TWICE? You sir, are amazing.
8:17 My stomach turned when I heard him say that. Why is #blackgirlmagic in an MCU movie lol I did not expect this when I got into these movies during the pandemic.
@@gregowen2022 I honestly don’t even know what that hashtag is supposed to mean I’m just tired of people saying it to me and now it’s in this damn movie lol
The X-Men (if they will still call them x-men and not mutants) story that they will probably choose to tell will probably be the least interesting out of them all with characters that no one wants to see. As usual, they will prioritize sending ''THE MESSAGE'' above everything else and one more hideous product will come to life.
Reviews like this are more entertaining than any movie or show that Disney or Hollywood are churns out. I miss the old entertaining media from decades ago and I lament at what was lost or distorted.
Time to eat crow. I watch your channel and do i expected Marvels to be terrible. Instead, I was surprised at how fun, dramatic and interesting all the characters were. They perfectly nailed character chemistry on the trio. The visuals are the best since Thor: Ragnarok. They even wrote Nick Fury acting like Nick Fury instead of Secret Invasion which seemed like a completely different person. The Marvels is now one of my favorites of all time.
I think they’ll try, but the excuses are running out. I’m happy to see the “captain marvel made a billion dollars” excuse finally die. But now they are blaming super hero fatigue. I doubt we’ll ever see real accountability
The connection of the leads was left behind in the comics as they were all modern derivatives of Ms. Marvel. But that's not explained or touched on, it's a nod to readers, and the writers want to seem clever.
It's very interesting to me how they just throw logic to the wind just to double down on their ideology or whatever they are trying to prove. Their aurora of arrogance is so strong that they just can't see themselves as being wrong, EVEN THOUGH they reshot the move like 14 times. We just need to never go to the movies again. There is no point
I'm missing something... if they're looking for a powered black woman, what happened to Storm? Also, I've never heard of this villain, is she just for the movies? I've heard and know of Ronin but then I used to read (for years) the Silver Surfer.
The Three takeaways from this film… 1: Logan and Deadpool 2 will be the last good X-Men films to be released (Do you honestly trust The MCU with Deadpool 3😂😂😂) 2: Fantastic 4 is doomed to never have a good film made 3: Look how they massacred my boy😭😭😭
I heard there was supposed to be some Deadpool 3 tie-in, but that was a lie, we just got Beast and Kate Bishop. The MCU has a treasure trove of proven material and they keep snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Amazing
@@gregowen2022 I don’t remember anything being rumored about a Deadpool 3 tie in with The Marvels. I remember hearing a lot about the Beast cameo in The Marvels but nothing on Deadpool 3. However I do believe that there were rumors that Deadpool 3 would be tied into the Loki Season 2 finale since the TVA and Mobius have been highly rumored to to be involved with Deadpool 3. I just don’t believe Deadpool 3 is going to be good. Disney has every intent to rush Deadpool 3 to the finish line for a July release date. Deadpool 3 gives me X-Men Wolverine Origins vibes.
It was a bad movie, but it was also kind of fun to watch. I don't know maybe I'm insane or something. I had a good time with it despite the glaring problems. Really unfortunate though that they are like 0-2 with Danvers, who has been my favorite marvel comics character for a long time.
You started by saying this is the worst Marvel movie... I watched it expecting it to be bad. It's not that bad. In fact, I found a lot of it pretty good entertainment. They gave Marvel Superman some flaws. That was good. But, bottom line here. How can any MCU movie beat out Eternals for worst. I mean... It's so bad... I'm not even going to get into it.
Let's be honest, though. Despite foreseeing how bad this movie was going to be, we all waited eagerly for its release, so we you have videos like this one. And I'm loving it!
4:36 to be fair, that's true to the comics. Her power is to control and turn into almost any sort of energy on electromagnetic spectrum. Her powers are so versatile that she can basically do anything plot requires her to do. So at least it is faithful to the source material in this regard? Character arc or personality would still be nice...
I love how ever since Ragnarock, Valkyrie does not have a name. She lives by her previous job. In Marvel’s attempts to prop of women, they can’t even give her an actual name.
Greg! This is unrelated to the video, but I've been playing Sea of Stars and wanted to say thank you for putting it on my radar! It's been so good, I hope to see maybe a full review potentially? (I really just want to have somebody to be as excited as I am about this game!)

Stop giving those people your money!! The MCU is done. But I do agree that movie popcorn is S tier and the only reason to go to the theater at this point. And adding the Taylor swift cup in place of your tea was an excellent detail. Great video as always!
Can't go wrong by adding some Swift.
I agree with staying away, but if they were making this lemon anyway, I figured I'd make a lemonade, haha
@@gregowen2022 if you can monetize their garbage for your own personal gain, then I’ll allow it! 😂😂
Someone’s gotta make money off of this trash heap, glad it gets to be Greg and creators I like hahaha
Five Nights at Freddy’s is probably worth the popcorn pilgrimage, I’m going to see it this weekend. 🍿👍
This alone should have told Disney it was going to be sh!t, but they released it anyway hoping it would do well 🤦♂🤣
I'm shocked they released it to theaters. Quietly dumping it to Disney plus would have been better than the bad PR from this laughing stock.
They should've released the long cut of this film. It would've done better from that alone. It would've given more time for the characters to develop.
Interesting if that is true because I’ve read a couple of interviews with the director where she claims the shorter runtime as her plan from the start.
But she left the movie in post to go direct something else, so…..
Mostly they hacked it back to squeeze in as many showings as possible so it gets viewers before word of mouth hits
@@gregowen2022they were probably contractually obligated to release it in theaters.... They were most likely trying to avoid another lawsuit like with black widow...
I'm so excited about watching this movie's reviews! You know the Pitch Meeting is going to be great.
The pitch meeting is going to have me in tears, I already know it. The number of times he's going to have to say "Hey shut up" and "unclear" are going to set a record he'll never be able to top

Thank you so much! I’m so glad you enjoy my stuff!
This is one of the most unapologetically frank and rational reviews I've seen in ages. Respectful while 100% point take. Well done.
“AI-written” is a wonderful new dismissive term.
Thanks so much for this great review. You are quickly rising up towards my "most trusted reviewer" position. There's no pay raise or really anything associated with this position except a hearty "Good job!" So there's that.
Can I be called Assistant to the Most Trusted Reviewer?

I greatly appreciate it!
I already planned to skip this, so thanks for taking one for the team.
And thank you for watching! This is team shit
@@NexusKinA lot of ppl ik didn't even know who Ryan Gosling was before ☠️ I think most ppl saw it because it's about the iconic Barbie
There are two reasons
1. Because of Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie
2. Barbie is an iconic character so ofc
Thanks 👍
The fact that the critics in my country has nothing to say about the movie aside from the fact that it has a cat…
Oh and btw this movie came on theaters at such an unfortunate time too,in my country, there’re 3-4 local movies in the theaters…and two of them are very popular locally.
Bro whats the first movie aboutthe dead girlfriend?

The Amazing World of Gumball actually had that as a joke when Darwin got obsessed with texting, got his phone confiscated at school and said aloud "OMG! OMG! U hav 2 HLP!" then Gumball tells him "Dude, text slang is for phones

The singing planet sounds like one of those 80's Irish Spring soap commercials I used to watch.
"There's something bout Irish Spring; it makes me wanna sing..." 😂
It was the strangest tone shift I’ve ever seen in a movie, and was followed immediately by a serious action sequence.
I can't blame him either, get that bag, man. But the studio should care about the character, he's their property!

"Also the water disappeared because of.... the war
Also the sun went out because of.... the war"
😂😂 I just can't
The problem with this movie is the fact that they failed in every aspect that makes a good movie
- no emotions
( What makes a good movie is how you make the audience have emotional investment )
- no good character chemistry
- weaker villain than hero
- no stakes in this movie
( there is no big difference between before and after the movie )
- you plot is so simple , you can summarise it in 5 lines
How is this movie 300 million dollars
Predictable plot ✅
Bunch of misfit heroes forced to unite need to resolve their differences and learn to work together to save the world... How many superhero movies have the exact same premise? 20? 30? Don't forget the obligatory sacrifice...
Bad humor ✅
Using Nick Fury as comic relief is not what fans want more of or asked for. They made one of the coolest, most badass characters in the MCU take a back seat and just make him throw around stupid comments that weren't even funny. You will notice how unfunny it gets if you watch a second time.
They also keep repeating the same formulaic humor of putting some bad joke to diffuse any tension or drama, for example:
Kamala's parents' house gets destroyed after aliens try to kill the family, but the movie asks us not to take the killing attempt seriously by inserting humor.
Boring one-dimensional characters ✅
There is no real personal conflict in this movie for any of the characters.
No personal character arc ✅
Kamala somehow is already good at martial arts and fighting, without having any training whatsoever...
But we get none of that with Kamala, other than her parent's house being destroyed, which is resolved as "whoopsie, hehe, didn't mean to, ok byeeee!”
Forgettable villain ✅
One trailer they released a week before the release tried to sell this as Thanos’s daughter or follower, who was gonna get his job done.
This might be the lamest villain in the entire MCU, no kidding…
Ridiculous cats eating innocent people "to save them"?? ✅
There is a scene where some cats start eating innocent people because there is apparently no other way to save them from an upcoming explosion in the space station that they have to escape from.
I suppose they just wanted people to not ask questions and consume the next product, which brings me to the:
Post-credit scene ✅
You had Beast from the original Fox X-men and María Rambeau from another universe as Binary... In theory, one should get excited, but then again, you can't help but think, why should I get excited after watching this movie?
They'll probably Disneyfy them, make the X-men a total unfunny joke or parody, where maybe a bunch of teddy bears defeat Magneto who will probably act like a clown as comic relief, and with no permanent consequences to any character and no character arcs whatsoever other than "I'm already perfect and I need to remember/recognize that to show how amazing I always was."
It's the kind of movie that no one will talk about or remember two weeks from now because it feels like a filler episode of a "Disney channel" series. There are TikTok videos far more satisfying than this.
On the positive side:
They improved Carol’s personality, and she seems more likable now, and I guess Kamala steals the show by being overexcited to be there, but that’s to the detriment of the movie because her vibe is just too playful and childish, making the movie feel like a thing to laugh at than to take seriously.
It’s a movie meant for people who like McDonald’s food and eating the same shitty Big Mac over and over and over... If you expect a memorable restaurant experience, this is not it.
The drama sounds just like the drama in Secret Invasion.
Exactly like that. Manufactured, disconnected, and slow
Your 'first ideas' comment really does a great job to describe the movie. Other MCU movies seem to have a lot more effort in their stories.
at 8:43 i almost choke on my food because of what you said LMAO
Murder on the Nile came out 5 years ago??? Damn time is flying🫣
I would pick neither; I would rather play through Mass Effect 3’s ending 8 times in a row
Lol... good catch on the useless astronaut suit 😅😂😂😂😂
Movie written by marketing people to sell the MCU to Gen Z who the youngest was born 2 years after Iron Man came out.
One of the Marcus theaters in Milwaukee has a bad audio guy that has caused me to walk out of multiple movies. Love the vids!
@@gregowen2022 all I can say is too little too late!!
You know how people were saying Marvel was overpowered and could fix any issue in the story?
She can fly faster than light (I.E. infinite power)
She can apparently alter the molecular amount/composition of star-size entities
She can jump through dimensions/reality
At this point, the only character who could beat her is She-Hulk who can just talk to/threaten the writer to win...
For the first time ever, I want to see how bad a movie really is, but more than that, I don't want to contribute any money to their cause.
OMG you putting that Cash clip in literally made me subscribe, and I almost spat my coffee all over my keyboard.
Given that this movie is a sequel to Captain Marvel, I'm not surprised. There was nowhere to go but down.
"What X-Men story are they going to tell this time?"
Ooh! Ooh! Can they do Dark Phoenix again? They're *sure* to get it right this time! [/heavy sarcasm]
The next X-Men film will be about attending a Gala for mutants and celebs, If we are unfortunately adapting modern X-men comics.
It’s sad
Yo, where in the Midwest you from?? I’m a regular at Marcus theatres!!! Nebraska baby!!!!
I love how despite them being total flops somehow Disney movies always get high audience scores in phase 4 lol.
They also hit large numbers of verified audience instantly, often days before the film officially releases, TLJ being the stand-out example of that. Yet the VA numbers grow very slowly afterward. It's strange how half of the verified audience all score the film on the same day, right at the start, almost like Disney is just buying thousands of tickets to post their own score.
iron man should have known this before snapping.
One thing I can disagree with is everyone claims they only switch when the plot ask for it, but everything is convent when the plot demands it….
Not to mention it’s also explained they can’t use their powers at the same time.

The X-Men (if they will still call them x-men and not mutants) story that they will probably choose to tell will probably be the least interesting out of them all with characters that no one wants to see. As usual, they will prioritize sending ''THE MESSAGE'' above everything else and one more hideous product will come to life.
Cmon, it is not even closely as bad as Wakanda Forever! That movie literally made me angry!
Reviews like this are more entertaining than any movie or show that Disney or Hollywood are churns out.

Disney is Hollywood.
Being in The Spirit, being in OldBoy 2013, and saying "Black Girl Magic" in The Marvels are the unholy trinity of stabs to Samuel L. Jackson's dignity

Lol
I am positive this movie really will be spun more than cotton candy
I think they’ll try, but the excuses are running out. I’m happy to see the “captain marvel made a billion dollars” excuse finally die. But now they are blaming super hero fatigue. I doubt we’ll ever see real accountability
The connection of the leads was left behind in the comics as they were all modern derivatives of Ms. Marvel. But that's not explained or touched on, it's a nod to readers, and the writers want to seem clever.
didn't Ronan's hammer get destroyed at the end of Guardians 1 when Star-Lord rrmoved the Power Stone?

Hey Greg, YT thought the middle of your video was the perfect spot to drop a Marvels ad! LOL
Hahaha, I love making Marvel ad money while trashing their movie
It's very interesting to me how they just throw logic to the wind just to double down on their ideology or whatever they are trying to prove. Their aurora of arrogance is so strong that they just can't see themselves as being wrong, EVEN THOUGH they reshot the move like 14 times. We just need to never go to the movies again. There is no point
I'm missing something... if they're looking for a powered black woman, what happened to Storm? Also, I've never heard of this villain, is she just for the movies? I've heard and know of Ronin but then I used to read (for years) the Silver Surfer.
Remember when they advertised that this was a Thanos level threat? It's sad how desperate they're getting.

The Three takeaways from this film…

2: Fantastic 4 is doomed to never have a good film made
3: Look how they massacred my boy😭😭😭
