I've seen 2 different trailers for this movie (until the timer says "Skip Ad" that is)
The first trailer literally starts saying "Captain Marvel! She's so awesome! She's amazing! She's powerful! Ooooooh isn't she great!!?"
And then the second one starts by just listing the 3 lead characters, and for Monica they just call her "Captain Rambeau"
First of all, in the comics her name is PHOTON, cause she's actually a CHARACTER that has backstory and is actually participating in shit.
But they forgot to fucking establish her as a hero, cause they wanna RUSH her into this team up movie.
THIS IS WHAT DC DID! THESE ARE THE MISTAKES DC MADE CAUSE THEY WANTED TO SPEEDRUN A CINEMATIC UNIVERSE TO COPY MARVEL!
They made Man of Steel, which was shit, then they IMMEDIATELY threw him at BATMAN, while ALSO establishing a brand new Batman because they literally noped the Dark Knight trilogy despite them being popular, while ALSO doing Justice League by shoving Wonder Woman in there, while ALSO doing Death of Superman by shoving Doomsday in there! THEN THEY JUST DO JUSTICE LEAGUE! THAT'S ONE SOLO MOVIE, A TEAM UP MOVIE, AND THEN THE BIG AVENGERS LEVEL TEAM UP MOVIE!
Oh wait, they also had Aquaman in there..... Thanks the gods they established AQUAMAN! No, Wonder Woman doesn't count, we just see her doing shit in World War ONE, literally 100 years later, she's a different person from who we see in that movie and if she's not then she's not a real character she's a.... Oh wait.
Now Marvel is trying to cheat instead of putting in the time and effort to establish these characters and make them popular. The MCU originally MADE these characters popular. Iron Man, Captain America and the GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY were not household fucking names until the MCU MADE them household names.

@@haku8135 Marvel is trying to cheat because after their enormous success they believed they're so powerful that people will literally eat shit if only it comes from them. Which was the biggest of all the mistakes they made, I think. Pride comes before the fall.

Well, they were. I mean, just look at how it’s structured. I won’t deny that there was an end goal for Thanos being teased in Avengers 1, but let’s face it: Marvel was PANTSING their way through most of the MCU. Thankfully, they had some decent directors and writers along the way who could connect the dots, but Marvel really was taking shots in the dark with some of these characters. Now, all the talent and skill is gone, and the curtain is up.

My teen daughter watched the first few episodes of Ms. Marvel. She said it was "Cheesy" and lost interest. I think it's a good idea to have MCU characters that appeal to teen girls. But, any children's book writer (or Librarian) would tell you, kids like stories of kids just a few years older. Ms. Marvel was supposed to be 16, but she behaved 12. So, my 14-year-old would not be interested.
On the reverse -- Hawkeye's "Kate Bishop" was an absolute favorite for all the teen girls.

I also had a lot of interest in the plot of WandaVision when it originally aired 2 1/2 years ago, but Monica Rambeau was never one of the most interesting parts of the story. It is going to take a gosh darn miracle for The Marvels to *not* be a flop and for all of that marketing budget to pay off if it actually successfully finds a way to unite different niche audiences from different Marvel movies and different Marvel Disney+ shows. Please do not attack Iman Vellani for her affiliation with Brie Larson or The Marvels, because Ms. Marvel/The Marvels is Iman Vellani's first time acting on screen, so it is too soon to accuse her of being a terrible actress when she has not even had two other roles yet. Captain Marvel was originally going to be a main focus in Endgame, she was the one to mostly battle with Thanos in the film's plot. As Disney wanted her to be a focus in the MCU going forwards, but the writers/directors didn't know if she would be popular so as a back up filmed multiple scenes twice. Once with Captain Marvel doing things and other versions with other characters doing the same things (sadly this is the start of Disney filming everything multiple times and creating a "coherent plot" by trying to edit a story in post production) when Marvel discovered no one really liked the character they used the other version to edit out/replace her with other more established (liked) characters. Captain Marvel 2 was originally going to be released in 2020/21, but they moved it several times and did extensive reshoots (Adding in Monica Rambeau and Kamala Khan)

@@gregowen2022 Great movie, not my favourite Scorcese product.
Lenght was a point of discussion between my friend group. While some said it was fine and one even said that she could watch it for even an hour more, I personally felt that some segments were drawn out, not enough to be tiresome or detract from the quality of the movie, but enough to make feel like it drags a bit. For a personal comparison, I watched The Irishman without even blinking, the three hours passed like nothing, while Killers made me check out my watch a few times, mostly during the start.

My favorite part about the original avengers movie is that there are the separate origin story movies for, some, of the characters. But just the avengers gives you all the information you need to know about them, it doesn’t rely on you already knowing who they are. For example, when I watched the avengers for the first time i became interested in the characters and went to see their independent movies. And now Iron Man 1 is one of my favorite movies of all time.

The plot of Capt. Marvel 2 should have been a straight set up for X-Men with the villains being Mystique and Rogue. Rogue turns on Mystique at the end and has to steal Carols powers to win. This leaves Rogue on her own. Post credit scene is Rogue visiting Carol in a coma and Charles Xavier introduces himself and offers to train her to use her powers and a place at his school. 🤑

Of all the Harry Potter movies, Draco Malfoy only had 31 minutes of screen time. You can definitely have memorable characters from short amounts of screen time. Not to say that Marvel has succeeded there, but low screen time isn't a reason why they failed.

“Why people won’t go to the movie” is marketing. Marvel failing marketing is fine because making a great movie is the best marketing for the sequel.
I think the core problem is the marketing execs already have too strong a voice, at the expense of creatives. So we should chastise them on bad marketing…. Focus on the creative side and they’ll be grand in the long run (but we know they won’t).

I feel they would have been better off to start the new phase after endgame with people sprouting up with abilities. The massive surge of power altered those who were left or something.
This would hopefully help get people on board and the same page when someone new pops up and they don't have to dive to deep with exposition. People in and out of universe can assume it was the snap that brought this new hero around and they can go find more out about them in another series or movie if they like them.
The powered people don't need to be explained as being mutants or inhumans until later as the people in the universe would still be figuring it out themselves. This would get people hyped for the new phase and would give marvel time to have acquired the xmen to call them mutants and if it fell through they could have stuck with inhumans. For an explanation of older mutants they could say there was always mutated people but the snap brought about more and increased the powers of those who already existed.
