Hey Greg, quick legal point: Appellate courts very rarely overturn criminal convictions because they disagree with a jury's decision on the facts. The idea is that, absent fraud or malfeasance, if a jury could have reasonably reached the conclusion that they did based on the evidence presented at trial, it's not the role of an appellate court to second-guess them. Appellate courts typically review decisions of law made by the trial judge. So if the judge impermissibly allowed the prosecution to present some evidence to the jury that they shouldn't have seen or advance some prejudicial argument against Majors, that might constitute reversible error. Anyway, love your take, as always!
Nate The Lawyer did a video explaining what this trial means. He explains that under New York law, the charges that Majors is guilty of are equivalent to a traffic ticket. Meaning, it doesn't go on his criminal record and no jail time.
I think your idea of starting a new “universe” is genius. If Marvel had started with the idea of creating characters and stories in one universe and then pivoting to a second universe once that saga wraps up they would’ve had decades worth of content (not to mention the blank canvas creators would have each time a new saga is created). Also inevitably when the multiverse idea is introduced it would be way more impactful since we would have deep connections to all of the characters that span multiple sagas/universes

Your idea for making the X-Men team up an Avengers style saga with movies around the individual members as they find their way to becoming part of the team is the only idea I've heard that would even pique my interest in coming back to the MCU.
Instead of individual movies I think they need to take a page out of the 90s playbook and build two separate teams: Blue and Gold. That would allow them to have a wide cast they can pull from and a team-up movie that has the two teams chasing different goals and then joining forces at the start of the third act. It would also let them focus on different aspects of the team and the X-Men as a concept between the two, such as the Blue team fighting for Xavier's dream while the Gold focuses on diplomacy. A full shutdown and reboot is a great idea, because it would be Marvel admitting without admitting that they've lost the audience and they are willing to try something new to get them back. Continuing down the Multiverse Saga path is just going to make more of the same.
Your proposition included logic in it and a potential to generate revenue for MCU hence there is no way marvel to follow that route. I do not have a major in this but Marvel seems to afraid of any sort of change so they will still try to do things like back then under the guise of "reshoots" and "recasts". CEOs and top guys are the same so a new path is unlikely.
What the MCU SHOULD have done was end Endgame with a post-credit scene in the 1960's showing a mutant being born. Then the next phase could have been introducing mutants - Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends, Vision and the Scarlett Witch, Weapon X, Namor: The Sub-Mariner, etc. - with the requisite post-credit scenes of Professor X and Magneto poaching mutants for their respective teams, leading up to phase-ending X-Men movie. You could also throw Fantastic Four in there as the franchise for the gonzo, wacky, and cosmic stuff, starting with the Mole Man and later introducing Annihilus and the Negative Zone, Doctor Doom and the anti-Wakanda of Latveria, Sauron and the Savage Land, and Kang as a lower-key FF villain. Over subsequent phases you could play out stories based on the Mutant Massacre, Mutant Registration Act and the Sentinels, X-Tinction Agenda, New Mutants/X-Force, Mutant Genesis/Fatal Attractions, etc. as your organically topical superhero movies while the FF and Spider-Man are being gonzo fun movies. However, the entire decade-2 MCU ends with Earth's heroes fighting Galactus. That's even when you can pull the Avengers characters out of mothballs to join in, since we basically haven't heard anything from Falcon, Winter Soldier, The Hulk, Black Panther, Doctor Strange, etc. during any of this. But you HAVE TO include the scene with Tom Holland's Spider-Man and Charlie Cox's Daredevil just sitting out and watching the X-Men, Brotherhood, Avengers, Fantastic Four, Guardians of the Galaxy, etc. fighting Galactus because they know they can't do sh*t about it. But all of that is happening in some other parallel universe where I worked for Disney. In this universe, it's too late to do anything.
I think the ONLY way to save the MCU is to destroy it. End it. Call it a day. Give it 5-10 years and completely reboot. It's over whether they want to admit it or not.
It really is. The Marvels was the poorly thought out and badly delivered punchline. I don’t honestly know how they can right the ship, but it better be fast and drastic
Gina types "beep boop" -Disney, "GET YA COAT...YA DONE!!!" Depp gets nonsense allegations -Disney, "GET YA COAT, YOU DONE!!" Majors gets valid allegations -Disney, "we cool" Majors gets arrested, -Disney, "We cool" Majors gets charged, -Disney, "We cool" Majors evidence released, -Disney, "We cool" Majors found guilty, -Disney, "Dam it!! we just has to...Please get your coat" One of these things is not like the others....Majors must have pics of Bob balls deep in a Cub Scout to get such favouritism.
Is it possible that Majors was still in character or that his character was affecting him. Homie thought he was the new Thanos. Maybe he was talking about his potential when saying that he was a "great man." He obviously isn't and now won't be... but maybe he saw his path leading him to be a great man and was talking about his full potential future self. I feel kinda bad for him. This coming from a guy that puts his foot in his mouth all the time and am always trying to explain what I actually meant.
If I were them I would just do a hard reboot and have All the characters together this time, The FF, The X-Men, The Avengers: a new Iron Man, Cap, Widow, Hulk, Black Panther (T'Challa), etc. And maybe keep the best and youngest actors from the previous universe. I would use this to fix all the f*ck ups they've done like M.O.D.O.K, Taskmaster, The Wrecking Crew, Titania and Secret Invasion. And no, it wouldn't start from the beginning telling origin stories all over again, most of the heroes and the relationships between them would be already established and with a few years of experience and villains behind their back
I like the idea of keeping the best and getting rid of the worst, but I’m afraid the normies (and I include myself there) would be confused by what is real and what is canceled. Easier to make a clean break, BUT that break needs to come with a new mentality towards storytelling and identity politics that is rotting current Marvel
@@gregowen2022 Oh no, I wouldn't be keeping anything, continuity wise it's a completely different thing but maybe keeping some actors like Benedict Cumberbach and Tom Holland. But it would still be clear they're not the same characters, just like nobody thought that J. Jonah Jameson from the MCU and from the Raimi movies were the same. But of course none of it would matter if, like you say, it's the same people with the same ideas still running the show
Oooh brother the giant head....i swear i completely forgot about that and this also suddenly made me remember there's a whole team out there other than guardians of the galaxy
I don't have a horse in the race, but it seems to me that the evidence was too inconclusive for the the jury to have convicted. About Majors being a doucher, I understand a studio making their choices but him being a pompous donkeyhole is unfairly prejudicial considering the evidence and the instructions given to the jury. It's unconscionable to me that considering the evidence that the D.A. could bring charges against one of the couple without bringing them against both of them.
They'd never bring back Terrence Howard, and I feel like everyone who is suggesting bringing him back forgets that Howard ALSO has a history of violence and had a couple of restraining orders against him.
Anyone ever see an 80's Richard Pryor movie called "Brewster's Millions"? I'm convinced some exec at Disney is taking the piss just to see how much company movie they can blow in as little time as possible. Also reminds me of the plot of "S1m0n3" or "The Producers" when they deliberately tried to tank their I.P. I vote "None of the Above" (deepcut reference)
Both sides of the "sigma mindset" is terrible (the other side are the women who think they are all 10s and must have a 666 man and that OF is empowering). "Pride comes before destruction and a haughty spirit before the fall." - The Holy Bible
I doubt solo movies for each main X-Men character would work financially. Apart from say, Wolverine, the box office for each would probably be similar to the Blue Beetle's. Disney+ miniseries would make more sense to introduce them to the audience.
I would also suggest adding Storm and Psylocke to the X-men line up. Not only are they racially diverse, which sure w/e but can help sell it to the corporate overlords, but they are also hot :D
Let the Russos make a final Thor movie. In it, wrap up the whole Asgardian storyline with Thor encountering Loki holding the timeline together, tying back to Loki S2. They work together to snuff out all the Kangs, locking them all into a timeline that they prune. Loki and Thor accept Loki's fate and if you want one more multiverse shananigan you have Loki deliver Thor Jane Foster pre-death. They go off and have kids and yada yada. Post credit scenes are very vague - one is a scientist discovering the mutant gene in a lab from an 'unknown' person (fade to black as a snippet of the X-Men theme plays), the other is a scene in space that teases the origin story of the Fantastic Four. That's it. Then you reboot.
I love it! I'm all for Marvel just abandoning the current MCU today, just ghost it. However, I would appreciate a movie like this that would wrap up the loose ends and maybe throw some happy endings at a few characters
The Russos were the guys who brought us Fat Thor, and came off as positively anti-Loki (in the sense of not seeing value in the character) in interviews. I'd bring back Kenneth Branagh myself, if I were trying to make the film you describe (which sounds great) happen. I will remark in passing that Loki S2 kind of peaked in panderverse quota with the World's Fair episode, and after that turned into an incoherent but moderately entertaining show that backburnered the heck out of the self-righteous and uncharismatic Sylvie and refocused on Loki and Mobius with OB and Victor Timely kind of tagging along.
No need to wait for Secret Wars to reboot things....Thanks to WandaVision not using Mephisto, he is still waiting in the wings and Marvel can pull up the One More Day story whenever they want! The only question is: who gets character-assassinated to make it happen? I vote Hulk. He just wants one more day with.....whomever his baby-mama is, and that resets the universe...
The text messages revealed about Majors were wild, man. I wasn't paying full attention when I first heard them and honestly thought I was hearing about leaked Kang development.
I think you're half-correct about just rebooting the mcu. However, there are some nagging story lines still in the air. Shang-Chi, The Eternals, etc. Maybe they could resolve some of that with a disney+ show for those interested. Some of the characters ARE actually well written and interesting. Ms. Marvel, Shang-Chi, Kate Bishop, hell even Baron Zemo is kind of interesting after that last outing with Falcon and Winter Soldier. I'm personally a huge fan of Cumberbatch's Dr. Strange, and would hate to see that character leave.
I don' think his career is over. Much worse than 'reckless assault' has been overcome. If every douche was run out of Hollywood their would be no one left. He is cooked in the MCU and for a few years, but he is talented and can come back.
I really don't care about actors private life, and they have to go full on Ezra Miller for me to care, Disney is lost but this guy was sipping into other projects and movies and guess what, Majors is a terrible actor, i hope he stays in the bad actors corner with Amber, Brie, Daisy and Ezra and never pollute movies beyond the "inclusivity/girl power/equity" garbage product they are been push casted for.
Basically, I"m just exhausted of it all. I loved phases 1 - 3, except Endgame included time travel, and turning Falcon into Captain America (which is a terrible idea) and girl power, all of which has ruined the following phases. I'm turned off, and it will take a momentous event to get me to spend money on any future Marvel project. Secret Wars '84 was a fantastic story, THAT should be what they strive to make.
I agree with with most of this video but marvel did not have a plan for phases 1-3. They kinda threw some ideas together and it worked mostly due to haveing likable actors in their roles. There was not long term plan. Thanos was just tacked onto the mid credit scene of avengers but you can tell they were trying to figure the story out as they went. It’s true that marvel needs a cohesive plan moving forward but if you watch the movies you can tell they didn’t have one before. At least they were trying something different with Kang.
You hit the mark directly on point why the MCU sucks now. Lack of direction towards any proper assemble, Lack of character development or liking towards any of those newer Avengers and Some leaks are saying they tryna shift towards X-Men with Avengers having a very small role in the next saga. I think it's really time we lose faith in the MCU because they do not care and are not passionate enough to make the best out of their potential and deliver 'good' movies having great connectivity. Instead are trying to bring in just popular characters from comics and Cast on the big screens to grab in audience in the theatres to hit the blockbuster mark. There are just so much things wrong at the moment. When they can't do good with the with that they had was the best. What good can we expect from them in the future?
Which do you think will be the bigger bomb: The Marvels or Aquaman 2? I heard they're not even doing a red carpet premier for AM2. It'd be a damn shame if a man beat the female lead The Marvels at yet another record. On the X-Men. You clearly haven't heard the Disney leak about the female led X-Men. (lol) It's funny that Disney killed Marvel because Marvel already did this to itself in the 80s and 90s: It's like a time loop.
Well I will give Disney credit for one thing. At least waited for the guilty verdict before firing the guy this time. It proves they are capable of learning from past mistakes and changing.
In my ideal MCU, the X-Men would have swapped places with Guardians of The Galaxy in terms of release, as much as I like the Guardians. I'd start with Ms. Marvel and give her her own film. Then in the post credits scene Professor X knocks on the door of the Khans and informs the family about their child's Mutant abilities.
I say how people hate Jonathan Majors is a proof of how good he was on screen And Marvel fire Majors is an another proof of turning back of "quality" and focus only on "serving community ideas"
@@gregowen2022 I remember not appreciating Doctor Strange the first time I saw it, and I disliked Age (or rather Weekend) of Ultron and Iron Man 2, but I'm sure those movies will hold up much better than anything since Endgame outside of GotG
Seeing as Disney doesn’t even say “boys and girls” in Disney land anymore, I would think they would replace the movie name from “xmen” to “mutants”. What a clown show

Yes, I was not impressed with the first introduction of He Who Remains or whatever. He was wearing a sweater, eating an apple and chewing the scenery. Not very intimidating, IMHO
I found him consistently terrible as He Who Remains, first and second season both. The socially awkward Victor Timely character (Loki S2) worked for me, but got uncomfortable to watch at times. He had a few good moments in Quantumania ("Killed Avengers Before") but was mostly very bland in his main character and overly hammy in the Council of Kangs cameo. The media and the fanbase (astroturfers?) were IMO hyping entirely the wrong new hires back in Loki S1: he, Sophia Di Martino (Sylvie) and Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Ravonna) were all mediocre at best, while Wunmi Mosaku (Hunter B-15) had a less interesting role initially but really stepped up to the plate when given something more to do. Going up against Hiddleston, a fairly respected Shakespearian actor playing a role he loves and has played for years, you need to bring your A-game, and I felt like none of the three I cited above did that.
@@elderbrew6249 End of S1, he's trying for amusingly devious and offkilter and dangerous and failing at it, in the presence of the guy who wrote the book on playing such characters in the MCU. End of S2, he's trying for Palpatine "All is proceeding as I have foreseen" and not coming up with anything special.
MLK, Martin Luther Kang! MCU should just fast forward to introducing Galactus, Celestials have already been "introduced" in that movie that no one saw...no not that one, the other one, no the one with that team that seemed a lot like the Justice League.

A full shutdown and reboot is a great idea, because it would be Marvel admitting without admitting that they've lost the audience and they are willing to try something new to get them back. Continuing down the Multiverse Saga path is just going to make more of the same.
100% heard the whole Amazing X-men theme song playing.
I deviously lol'd at that Terrence Howard joke😂
Kang the convict
No we want it sold for parts.
You need to review Godzilla Minus One and Blue Eye Samurai
I’m dying to get in on the Godzilla love, but in the meantime Blue Eye can be right on my phone, so I’m definitely checking that out
Psych and finding their pineapples was fun, but the MCU is quickly if not fully just a bad joke.
It really is. The Marvels was the poorly thought out and badly delivered punchline. I don’t honestly know how they can right the ship, but it better be fast and drastic
This is the Marvels, all over again.
I haven't watched the video yet but I heard a good option is to use the high evolutionary from guardians 3 as an avenger villain
He was a great villain, but didn’t he die? Or could they say guardians 3 took place in the future? I would like to see more evolutionary, in any case
@@gregowen2022 Wait a minute, Marvel would just say "Multiverse, solves everything!" Well except free falling cinema fiscal returns.
@@gregowen2022 He wasn't killed and could be reused
Gina types "beep boop" -Disney, "GET YA COAT...YA DONE!!!"
Depp gets nonsense allegations -Disney, "GET YA COAT, YOU DONE!!"
Majors gets valid allegations -Disney, "we cool"
Majors gets arrested, -Disney, "We cool"
Majors gets charged, -Disney, "We cool"
Majors evidence released, -Disney, "We cool"
Majors found guilty, -Disney, "Dam it!! we just has to...Please get your coat"
One of these things is not like the others....Majors must have pics of Bob balls deep in a Cub Scout to get such favouritism.
Thank you for pointing this out… I was thinking that the math ain’t mathing here…😅
Had the Depp trial not happened Majors would have been fired long ago, Disney obviously learned not to jump the gun until a guilty verdict. Not hard.
Excellent Michael Caine / Muppet Christmas Carol drop 😆👏👏👏👏
Wouldn’t mind a whole video on just how awesome that movie is 😉
I'm thinking next December I'll do an underrated Christmas movie review. Muppets Christmas Carol, Rise of the Guardians, and Klaus.
He was Kang, n shiet.
Amazing how they fire Majors, yet they let Weinstein's former procurer create her own show (Acolyte)!!!!
"... like a Psyche pineapple."
"I understood that reference."
I really enjoy the channel Greg. Keep up the good work my dude
Hi Greg, thanks for sharing, Merry Christmas and God Bless!!
Thank you, Merry Christmas and blessings to you as well!
That's a fair and balanced description, wich I haven't heard until now.
That was a joke
Comment for the algo...also They really need a villain with a relatable motivation. The "You stole my _____" motivation is just so flat already
Dang I assaulted that like button and I didn’t even feel bad about it. I’m a monster … A MONSTER!
Both sides of the "sigma mindset" is terrible (the other side are the women who think they are all 10s and must have a 666 man and that OF is empowering).
"Pride comes before destruction and a haughty spirit before the fall." - The Holy Bible

My man Solomon does not miss
Would love a storm solo movie
I doubt solo movies for each main X-Men character would work financially. Apart from say, Wolverine, the box office for each would probably be similar to the Blue Beetle's. Disney+ miniseries would make more sense to introduce them to the audience.
Loved the planking joke. Didn’t see it coming at all.
"Catalyst to revive brand"
Yeah, you can see them already doing their best efforts with deadpool 3 and all female x men...
I keep hitting the like button, but it still doesn't dry off the can openner how it's supposed to.
Almost dark enough to delete. Almost.
Should have called Johnny Depps attorney.
Been waiting for that Gambit movie for a long time. And it looks like it is going to be a longer time.
😥😓 We just want the damn Gambit movie!
Wasn't Channing Tatum going to play him at some point?
20 points for the quality Michael McDonald usage.
"MCUterus"😂😂
The text messages revealed about Majors were wild, man. I wasn't paying full attention when I first heard them and honestly thought I was hearing about leaked Kang development.
Right?! The texts, the audio, it's crazy. I don't know that I'm convinced on the assault charge, but he still looks so horrific after this
Bro thinks he's actually the Kang The Conqueror.
Only modern Disney writers could be so shit at their job when they literally have DECADES of stories already written that they can copy from.
They tried that with xmen origins wolverine and look how that went
In my ideal MCU, the X-Men would have swapped places with Guardians of The Galaxy in terms of release, as much as I like the Guardians.
I'd start with Ms. Marvel and give her her own film. Then in the post credits scene Professor X knocks on the door of the Khans and informs the family about their child's Mutant abilities.
You can just have an alternate Kang. I reckon they'll see it through.
Not the worst take...not entirely in agreeance but sound logic.
Funny stuff mate
I appreciate you listening, thank you!
I say how people hate Jonathan Majors is a proof of how good he was on screen And Marvel fire Majors is an another proof of turning back of "quality" and focus only on "serving community ideas"
Everything since Tony Stark dying was an alternate future. Hit the reset button and fix those mistakes.
Agreed. They keep chasing the new phases just because it’s on the roadmap. Let it go and start over, I promise the audience will appreciate it more
@@gregowen2022 I remember not appreciating Doctor Strange the first time I saw it, and I disliked Age (or rather Weekend) of Ultron and Iron Man 2, but I'm sure those movies will hold up much better than anything since Endgame outside of GotG
"If they play it right." 😂 Next year is 2024, right?
I think the problem with the X men is that there has already been so many movies made. That hasn't been as much of a problem with Spider-Man though.
Seeing as Disney doesn’t even say “boys and girls” in Disney land anymore, I would think they would replace the movie name from “xmen” to “mutants”. What a clown show
I like my Like buttons like I like my DV jokes: lightly battered
😂😂 Well played
Marvel can. They won't because of ideology and incompetence.
Indeed. The potential they are wasting is the saddest part of the whole thing
Yea I'm really shocked and upset about all the retconning going on in the comics by changing everyones origins including minorities so that when they make live action adaptations they can claim it's accurate to the original content.
Also good report btw forgot to mention
I don't know they denied evidence what made her look more guilty she clearly has drinking issues and I think he was getting ready to break up with her and this is the result of him breaking up with her
Did anyone else think his acting at the end of Loki season 1 was totally cringe?
What made it so cringe to you?
No.
Jonathan Majors must be related to Lee Majors because he's definitely the fall guy 😏
Like a psych pineapple. I understood that reference.
MLK, Martin Luther Kang! MCU should just fast forward to introducing Galactus, Celestials have already been "introduced" in that movie that no one saw...no not that one, the other one, no the one with that team that seemed a lot like the Justice League.
I would welcome a movie where Galactus is introduced, wins, and the universe is over.
