Drinker's Chasers - They Knew Agatha Would Fail All Along

- Its the gayest MCU show ever, apparently. But what does that matter if the writing, characters and directing are all terrible? Well, it definitely helps to shield you from criticism.
Disney/Marvel still on "fuckin around and find out" phase
Can’t wait for the feminist Star Wars rey movie 😂
and I'm on IDG2F phase.....
I liked Marvel but all we've been getting is Gayvel!
Agatha all alone with her cats
I liked the part where the middle-aged women ate pizza and talked about foundation brushes. Now that's superhero entertainment.
ClownfishTV says we get to see her 🍑, so...
didn't watch the show... this was actually in it?
Our timeline should have ended when Aubrey Plaza turned 30.
Maybe it did, and now we are living in a world that has moved on.
@@GeoffryGifari I took it as a rip on TikTok content. They're talking about watching a TikTok video for clues. One party asks the other if they learned anything. The other says "I learned you're using the wrong foundation brush." You know, because every woman in every TT video is doing their makeup while they record.
Either they boys missed the joke or didn't want to get it because they're looking for anything they can to comment negatively on. I got the joke and found it amusing.
@@GeoffryGifari nop. Honestly I think whatever hate the show is getting is for absolutely no reason. The show is awesome and fun, it's definitely nothing super epic and beyond life, it's just a good and fun show that you can enjoy. Nothing bad with that, I loved it.
I feel like the ONLY reason this show exists is because there was some executive that caught on to the winking meme from Wandavision and said "aha! Thing is popular! Quick! Make a show about thing!"
the real agatha was the gay acolyte witches all along
THIS💯💯💯
"And put tons of women in it and make them gay!!!!"
What, they're making yet another Fantastic Four movie?
It is a political artificat to keep the conflict going among people on social media. Safe to say, these type of shows are being successful so far, as long as TH-camrs are taking the bait and feeding their fire.
It's made for the writers, AZ. They just make it for themselves. And if it doesn't make the money back, it's not the writers' problem, because they suffer no consequences.
Exactly right. The people who make this stuff don't give a damn whether it makes money or loses money, they get paid either way. It's all about them building clout within their own identity groups. What Marvel (and Disney) needs to do is start hiring writers on contingency and paying them only a percentage of the gross.
no consequences? that's assuming they're gonna keep getting hired for the foreseeable future, right?
@@GeoffryGifari I would say that's precisely there assumption, yes. And thing is... they aren't wrong, this has been going on and getting worse for how long? You keep hearing that things are changing the tide is turning, but I don't see it. So DEI has a bad rap, okay, we'll call it ESG, when that gets a bad rap, we'll call it BRIDGE... there's no sign that chickens are coming home to roost. Consequently, if I was one of these writers? I'd also just assume that "yeah, sure, this gravy train isn't stopping any time soon!"
Actually its your fault (collectively our fault) for being bigots and not wanting to watch something that 'wasnt made for you' anyway 😂. Its like a murderer asking 'why dont you like me stabbing you? I've put effort into this so you have to enjoy it!'
Ah yes marketing it as the gayest project they’ve made thus far because that worked SO well for “Thor: Love and Thunder” or that OTHER Disney project “The Acolyte”
I mean how else are you going to market this
Then we have that male gay rom com movie that the director specifically said wasnt for straight people and spoiler alert, it failed. Then he blamed straight people for it, like women wants to watch a rom com where they cant picture themselves as the lead actress getting her prince charming and like men would start to watch rom coms because of all the steamy man on man action.
EVERY BODY HAS ALREADY SAID THIS OVER AND OVER AGAIN
@@TheZodiacRipper The Bros trailer would play before every movie before its release.
I'll never forget the reactions to the line about how straight people had a good run. It was either complete silence or you felt the energy of the audience just evaporate. It ultimately was hilarious to see that movie bomb so hard.
It’s almost like marketing it as “the gayest show ever” doesn’t appeal to anyone aside from wine moms.
I don't even see that as marketing - It's just an excuse to dismiss all criticism as homophobic and demonize critics as hateful.
It's not really working anymore though. lol
I dont know...some girl on girl action scenes always make a show more interesting. The fight scene was the best part of the 1 st episode.
Although it felt incomplete. Think of kill bill Beatrix fight with Vernita Green but with a different climax.
@@parapoliticos52 Middle aged women do not make for good "girl on girl" action.
@@williampotter3369That's the point. When they talk about "expanding their audience" they mean making supshoes. shows for people who don't watch superhero shows.
@@williampotter3369 ...is the wine mom your wife? If so... wink if you need help. LOL!
I don't think they care if they make a profit. I think they are looking at this as "We invested $150 million into the alphabet community." They're ticking a box for their blackrock investors.
this!
People don’t realize that BlackRock can legally use YOUR 401k to fund this garbage. They can spend your money now and give you the inflated, FAR less valuable “same amount” when you retire.
Who turned the writers into a bunch of soy drinking hacks appealing to no one?
Who tried to attract in the 10% of women that would actually care by alienating 80% of their male audience?
Who replaced every well written male character with a girlboss strong female that faces no challenges?
It was Agatha all along.
More like Agatha all went wrong... or like... Agatha hits from the bong... but actually just... Agatha wears a schlong. 👩🧹👉👌
It was apathy all along.
Ziiing 😅
And I killed Star Wars too. HaHaHa!
Eyyyy, you made a funny!
Nice.
@@AscendantStoic 💯
Remember: it's not made for you, so if you don't like it, don't watch it. Also, if it fails, it's your fault.
I'm... surprisingly fine with that.
The reason they're disturbing it is because they had a slot to fill, and it was the only thing available because Ironheart is still in the MCU vault. 🎉
I'm glad they have a vault to protect valuables such as Ironlady. I just hope it's very secure and locked tightly to make sure it never gets out... or stolen, I meant stolen... because it's so valuable, ya know... and very much in demand from... people... lots of people, I assume. #LockHerUp #ForSafetyReasonsOnlyOfCourse
How Disney/Marvel is still not bankrupt is beyond me. Good thing that writers protested for higher wages, stuff like this is definitely worth it.
cause they have the theme parks behind them. When you have tens of billions of sales in tickets you can take few billion loss per year in the cinema/streaming sector.
Until it starts hurting the theme parks and the share holders pull the plug to all the Dei projects.
When you have a large fortune it's easy to make a small one.
That is a good question. I recommend you do some research as to why that is.
All that I've learned tells me that it is a very complicated answer. Part of the problem is, media companies' accounting methods are designed to obscure information.
Every executive in the company is onboard with the agenda. They don’t care how much they lose as long as they can corrupt and groom the kids.
Marvel is just a tiny part of Disney. They make their money with parks and stuff like ESPN. So Marvel stuff flopping is never gonna bankrupt Disney, just like RoP flopping isn't going to bankrupt Amazon.
Q: How gay you want your show to be?
Marvel: YES!
Q: Okay, how did that work out for Disney with Acolyte?
Marvel: The POWER of...
Drinker: F*CK OFF, SHOW!
cringe
Yes Yes!*
Gay explosion? I’m guessing something involving DIDDY and baby oil
...and 700+ d*ldos...
Tremendous reference.
Baaahahaha. Don’t forget the lube.
As a straight middle aged woman who loves the original Star Wars and grew up reading the original marvel superhero comic books…I can’t even watch reviews on recent Marvel and Star franchise shite. 🤮
I CANNOT believe that’s the guy’s real voice. I keep thinking it’s one of the open bar members mocking him.
Marvel: Did we tell you that it's the GAAAAAAYEST Marvel show ever 😅
As a middle-aged woman who does actually love Marvel , This show wasn’t written for me , I want to see Chris Helmsworth being all Alpha with his shirt off , or RDJ being clever and sexy at the same time whilst saving the world ….again , This was written for very camp gay men with a witchcraft fetish , Just my opinion , stop blaming us middle aged women for everything , We don’t all hoard cats and hate men, Hope that clarifies the situation , I’m off to watch The Expanse for the 4th time, I have a thing for Amos
Expanse is great example of diversity done right. Which is irony I guess.
Thank you! I've been saying this. I'm a middle-aged woman with cats and I abhor this shite as much as any other sane thinking person. I'm getting a little tired of all my fav youtubers collectively badgering middle-aged women as if we're into this. I'm mad as hell they butchered Tolkien. The only value I see in madam web or the acolyte is to see Disparu and Little Platoon take em apart.
Was coming here to say this too.
Didn't you hate when they made Thor fat? What a waste. 🙃
Oh man the expanse was great. Wish they gave the ending better treatment though.
Money laundering
💯💯💯Gotta be the case
It's not high on my priority list but I'd love to see an independent audit of this travesty and a few others. Especially She-Hulk and ROP. And if the money-laundering angle is a conspiracy theory then it's only because THERE'S NO OTHER EVEN REMOTELY LOGICAL EXPLANATION.
Where's the dirty money coming from?
I've been saying this all along. It's all about money laundering, and it's amusing that people can't see it. The video commentary from many content creators criticizing these shows is misguided and misleading. I suspect many of them are aware of what's really happening but are deliberately leading people astray.
It's a distraction tactic; they're using hate to divert attention. By framing it under the guise of "wokeism," they make it seem like it's about ideology rather than the reality of blatant money laundering.
@@Lemon_InspectorI don't think disney wants to divulge how much DEI money it's actually getting. Vanguard, black rock pouring in so much money.
"They just don't like our extra gay stuff even though we keep marketing it as its main selling point. What should we do?"
"Maybe not enough Trans stuff in it?"
"Sounds like as good of an idea as any. Lets try that next"
That's how I imagine Disney operates when it comes to new Shows and prior criticism
2 days sober. I hate it
I'm surprised Agatha All Along didn't drive you back to the booze it's that bad
What about 3 days??? You can do it!!
It gets easier brother. What worked for me. Dont listen to the sad boy talk of AA. and counting every day min hour. Just dont drink today. Tomorrow dont matter and yesterday is gone. Just dont drink today. And pick up a hobby to do with your kid. Me and my boy crush puzzles now. Havent drank in nearly 3 years
Gone full cold turkey?
I've found that having a little drink helps me relax and takes my mind off being sober.
The people at Disney are like the spoiled rich bully kid who lived next door to me growing up. He could get any toy he wanted but instead of playing with them he just smashed them to pieces. It brought him the attention he never got from his rich non loving parents, still none of us other kids dared to question his actions because then he would beat the crap out of you. The people at Disney have all the money in the world and no talent, nothing to show for and they are not driven by creativity or the urge to tell good stories. The people at Disney just want to be the centre of attention and for everyone to admire them, not for the movies and shows they create but for who they are. Thats why they have to put themselves in everything they produce and they are willing to blow a billion dollar hole in the Disney bank vault along the way.
What do Madame Web and Agatha Harkness have in common?
Both are old women characters that don't have their own comic books.
Madame Web is Julia Carpenter. Not old.
@@Saltybuher Well, he did say "characters" so he's technically correct (which is the best kind of correct). Madame Web is old as hell, bruh. ☠
"She is usually depicted as a supporting character in the Spider-Man comic book series, where she appears as an elderly woman with myasthenia gravis, connected to a life support system resembling a spiderweb."
@@Saltybuher Read the comic.
The only hope is that this was greenlit before the clear collapse of Hollywood’s girlboss era. It feels inevitable that they’ll have to stop now. The wheels have finally come off. The culture has shifted. Over the next few years we’ll find out if they’re smart enough to catch on.
can I just have $1M if they are just going to burn hundreds of it anyway.
Disney needs to readjust who they’re making these films and shows for unless they want to lose millions more.
Man, that interviewer who asked if the show was gay, singlehandedly killed the show before we even had the chance to sh!t on it. Good job lol.
I started developing ovaries from watching one episode. I need to binge the Iron-Man trilogy to get my T-count back up.
Why? All those in the series are post menopause.
If IronMan is your idea of cinematic masculinity, we have other problems
Lol @@parapoliticos52
Iron Man… chemically speaking, Fe Male
@@PhantomP63, I understood that reference.
This new show Agatha is gayer than lily savages wardrobe
Lily however was fucking awesome
It was made for Theater kids....
I'm a middle aged woman and I would never watch this garbage. Gonna watch Deadpool and Wolverine again.
Feels like I'm watching every member of Parks & Rec become gayer and gayer (except for Chris Pratt).
Starting with Ron Swanson in TLOU of course, and now this one.
Who’s the target audience for Agatha show ⁉️ The Golden Girls of Marvel 😂
Hey! I'm grandma aged and I love the real Marvel! Don't overgeneralize!!!
Golden Girls was straight fire, and there is no way it could get made today, it was way too funny for today's audeinces.
Say hello to the new batch of lesbian women, same as the old batch, that we all soundly rejected from day one.
- And don't let anyone tell you that Disney knows how to run a succesful business model, ever again.
My mother likes the MCU movies that were made in Phases 1-3, and hates the stuff in phases 4-5 like Loki and Dr Strange MOM, and she's 60 years old. My mother likes strong female characters provided they have a story and a personality to go with them, and they're cool.
The MCU essentially ended with Endgame. After that it was all anti-climactic.
The entire point of acquiring Marvel was for Disney to grab the young male demographic that they weren't getting with their family friendly Disney princess movies. But instead of catering to and cultivating that audience, they proceeded to dilute the appeal of the brand to the demographic it was strongest in, ruining its unique value proposition for them. This is like marketing 101 level stuff to understand, does everyone just fail up in these large entertainment companies?
Calling it gay up front was them preparing for the show flopping so they can say its because of homophobia
I forgot Aubrey Plaza existed. It was nice.
I might be wrong but Isn't it the same suspiciously "overjoyed" (for the lack of a better word) interviewer everytime. "It'S sUpEr DuPeR gHeYYY, aM I rIgHt!?"
Basically when he does this routine, it's the kiss of death and the show is dead. Instant death.
:) Middle-age women go to movies to watch hot youngish man. Not other middle-aged women. Besides, women don't like other women as a rule.
explain Sex and the City
@@defeqel6537Somebody explain Keeping up with the Kardashians.
There were "hunks" in sex and the city and lots of gay men watched it
@@defeqel6537 Middle aged women wanted excitement of having sex with hot guys. Women don't want to be Marvel heroes, and if they're not gay, they're not interested in lesbian romances.
I remember the exact moment my mom stopped being interested in Sex and the City. It was when the lesbian stuff got shoehorned in.
Bc of course it did. Hollywood can't help itself.
Yeah Aquaman was objectively lousy but it made a billion dollars on middle age women re-viewing
I would have loved to take on a story about Agatha, make it a straight up Villain protagonist story, first few episodes are straight up phycological horror, then she finally just barley breaks free due to her own knowledge of magic. She comes out in a dead town with nobody, but the cult of her master is now after her, and she has to take out these worshipers one by one, slowly gaining what she had back.
I didn't know that Rich Evans was on this episode!
Trust me Drinker when a gay guy is talking with a throaty husky voice he don't need a lozenge. He needs mouth wash to dislodge the tadpoles 😂
Or his voice box has been destroyed from all the deep throating 😂
You wrong fa dat 😂
“Holy sh*t you fvcking killed her dude.”
At this point I'm not going near anything that's promoted as gay - it's just fetishism and fangirling, and while that has its place, that place is on AO3, not Disney+ or MCU
This practice of failing upwards is a serious problem.
Been following you for a while, love it!
I love the taste of candles in the morning. Then I wake up and re-join reality.
Does Grace Randolph get paid to gush all over this series?
She's definitely a real person right? I agree with drinker that she honestly looks like a mannequin turned into a bot
@@pistolbobcat5374💯
Disgrace Randolph is a Disney shill! 😬
Grace doesn't need to get paid for that, she masturbates to this type of content.
*squirt
Aubrey Plaza is 40, and she's supposedly the hot one. lmao.
Have you seen the cast? She *IS* the hot one!
Plaza was great as April Ludgate. Plaze is terrible when every role she has ever played, including presenting awards is just a rehash of April Ludgate. What was cute at 20 is embarrasing at 40.
But modern writers are part of modern culture which believes growing up is a myth and that immaturity is a perpetual virtue.
Ludgate is that cute girl that would rock your world, but you would never let her know your home address.
She is hot
Who the fuck even pitched a show a bout franklin Richards nanny, out of all the characters they own 😂
As a middle-aged woman, I find it offensive that they think this is what I want to watch.
my mother once told me that " when a man truly wants to marry a woman he wants to marry her now, if he is delaying he does not want to marry her." If bobbie boy really wanted to make a course correction he would make it immediately not explain how it will take years to start to see the change. iger is doing his same old delay and just keep doing more of the same. disney has no intention of ever changing.
There is inertia in every bigger organisation. I think Iger is kinda pressured to change and will only make every second movie woke now.
@@napoleonfeanor only time will tell
Maybe in a few years after we've moved on so much we don't even follow news of their demise anymore, we'll notice three projects in a row that are awesome and we never would've expected right now.
I can’t believe in the mining of marvel for a strong female character we haven’t been subjected to the Dazzler show
This is the thing. I am a middle aged white woman, who loves superhero movies and tv shows. This does NOT appeal to me.
How many more of these S shows does Disney have in the pipeline?
I really loved Kathryn Hahn on Park & Recreation, and enjoyed seeing her appearance on Wandavision. I was actually hopeful for this series. What a bummer. (I'm a 57 year old dude.)
How Candles Taste? The things made out of wax? Like...crayons? Jeah checks out
I'm middle aged, and I used to enjoy watching Marvel, at least up through "Endgame". I watched them with my family. None of the current Marvel garbage is stuff I can watch with my children or my husband even.
Sounds like the offspring of admiral ackbar and yoda worked as a san fransisco dragshow performer.
I would have never thought that the early 2000s fanfic forums so called "authors" would eventually become writers at disney.
Early 2000s Marvel fanfic writers still respected the characters and the continuity. It was Tumblr that brought all these activists down on the fandom community
They want men to watch women existing in our space, watch them being chameleons, asserting themselves constantly, and sitting around eating and talking about their feelings and other people forgetting that most of you are married. You see this everyday. That’s why we need our own space.
No one needs to say yes.
No matter how gay they try to make a movie or show they still can't top the pure gayness of a movie about two cowboys who get gay on a mountain.
Yet that film did really well... It's almost as if quality of writing and good characterisation are the most import things.
It's pretty clearly competing with shows like Sabrina, Wednesday, etc. I guess they don't think the male audience is worth pursuing.
Today, I saw my hometown covered in ads for both Agatha All Along and Transformers One.
Considering going to watch Transformers a third time.
I love this Baby Face
Good writing, owning up to mistakes, changing their ways, avoiding the strategies of playing the victim and advertising diversity - all of this is so hard. Continuing the same path is so much easier.
And people thought Agents of Shield was bad
Agents of shield was fantastic compared to this shit.
Get off the crack 😂😂
AoS was pretty much standard for TV.
I think the interviewer on the "Purple carpet" was poaching for voice work when they decide to make Yoda really camp.
I rarely watch these movies or shows anymore but enjoy watching your reviews. Nice to be able to laugh at the absurdity without supporting these nonsense shows.
I guess this was agony all along.
we already tried Bros, it didn't go well
The only reasonable conclusion is that pushing the "message" (i.e., engaging in social engineering) is more important than profits. No, it doesn't seem to make sense in a supposedly capitalist economy, but this has been going on for years.
People forget that cap-lism isn't allowed in the kind of society that these shows are hinting at.
If cap-lism is overthrown then your favorite shows will be dead.
Watch stuff produced by dictatorships. It's not intended to primarly entertain
Kudos to Agatha's wardrobe department. I like Agatha's outfits more than anything I saw from the reviews of the Acolyte.
That's a pretty good Gollum impression, drinker.
The reporter was simply checking for rightthink, he didn't care to uncover anything important about the show. Headline: "This show thinks the right way, so you should watch it"
At this point, all these commentary podcasts all sound the same now.
"The straightest?" My immediate head flash was "Predator".😎
"how gay is it?"
"Lemmiwinks is fucking lubed"
I want to know how you measure how gay something is.
You use that Variety interviewer as a yardstick.
Nothing wrong with Pizza, just the unanswered question remains: "What constitutes a proper 'gay' Pizza?" - And don't say 'Pineapple'!
Has the panel ever seen Electric Boogaloo: The Wild, Untold Story of Cannon Films?
Disney is now on the same production idea as they had.
Bowel movement, smell the product, what's next?
The fundamental problem is they think this will attract a new audience and it doesn't. You can't make something good for it's genre that pleases everyone, different people like different things and it's fine.
1:27
When mauler says " my brain left my body" I lost it lol
Legend
I think they look at it as potentially different than superhero shows/movies because it involves supernatural stuff/witchcraft which women seem to have an interest in. Think shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Charmed, etc. And a lot of women seem to have an interest in magic/occultism as well, generally speaking, like tarot and astrology. So my guess is that the producers are trying to cater to women with these interests and maybe bring some male viewers along as well who like superheroes.
If you've seen Aubrey Plaza interviews over the years, you would know she's great at trolling the media. She basically played herself in Parks and Rec
"Marvel's Definitely Not Hocus Pocus."
Nothing drives me crazy like characters written to betray their persona over and over or making mistake "A," illogically against their arc, so thing "B" can happen later. There is so much prior art with SW and Marvel, it has to be pure incompetence at this point. When you can't tell a story, you fall back to messaging about things that have everything to do with the real-world, a world we are all trying to leave behind for a few hours. Maybe someone at Disney could imagine a Universe where they have evolved past the segregated society the mainstream wants our current society to devolve into.
That red carpet correspondent seems predatory
It's always about food in the comics, too. It's what happens when you exist on ramen noodles and sub-poverty wages purely to "get the message out there". Maybe if they got the message that they are rubbish at their job and should try something else we all wouldn't be in this mess.
they had to name drop black Heart in case any Marvel fans were watching mefisto's son
These shows aren't made for anyone. They are like massively expensive Etsy projects, just expressions of their creators' vision and desires that are then posted up in case someone wants to buy a piece.
They're listening to the fans by unleashing a half naked 50 year old comical woman every episode 👁🫦👁 harder than deadpool sniffin lead
John Flick would suit your After Hours zoom Lives so well
yeah, i don't know how that works, either, but i'm guessing they invited him as an interviewer knowing that they don't *have* to give him questions to ask, he'll ask them on his own anyway.
They actually included the 'eating scented candles made me sterile' meme? They are really reaching for the cringe audience I guess.
30-50 million is not a small budget. We are in bizarro land. At that price at any streamer you NEVER make your money back. On the open market you would need it to be a moderate success and it would take years to make it back.
The plot basis for this show is basically the same as in "Puss in the Boots" movie. Except he wanted his lives back and she wants power back. What even are the marvel shows these days anyway? Anybody remembers Punisher, Daredevil or Jessica Jones?
That blokes throat sounds like that because *makes-sucky-sucky-5-dorra-sign*
