Dex is stupid if you want a laptop buy a laptop, if you want a desktop buy a desktop…. Stop trying to merge them all into a tablet! A tablet is a tablet not a laptop or desktop
@@austinkennedy955 What if you want a handheld computer with a PC style UI? There are so many reasons why someone might want these instead of a laptop. I have no use for a laptop, but I need a PC for more capabilities and then a tablet for mobile media consumption when I'm not near my TV or if I just want a larger screen compared to my phone.
@@kyleduddleston4123 I agree completely that’s why I say buy a phone and a computer because that phone has only as much processing power as it does as a phone, it’ll never having more than it has as a phone.. meanwhile you can get a phone and a laptop and the laptop is gonna have more processing power overall than the phone ever will as a phone or this “DEX” feature. @@kornisonkiseli3248 Agreed with TechGearTalk's presentation, his reviews are always very thorough, and he covers all the details of the comparisons. Plus anyone who loves dogs is good in my book. Despite how great it would be to have the larger sized variants of this tablet with the AMOLED displays, I bought my husband the regular Tab S8 for Christmas. When he travels he needs something more portable. I originally got him the Tab S6 Lite, but the specs and speed seemed to be very lacking. So decided to leapfrog over the new Tab S9 FE and go for the S8, even though it's almost 2 years old at this point. I figured he might as well have something more upscale with a better processor to enjoy for a few years.
Size definitely makes a difference. I have an S7+ and an S8 Ultra. With the S7+ (physically identical to the S8+), I feel I can mostly use it as a tablet or leave it in a case if I want to just watch stuff. With the S8 Ultra, it’s too big to use as a handheld tablet. It’s really designed to stay in its case at all times. It’s big enough that the S8 Ultra will slip out of my hands quite easily. I’ve dropped it enough times on the table (fortunately it never dropped more than a few inches), but I’ve never had that issue with the S7+. I love the Ultra’s screen size better, but I do sometimes wish it were easier to hold.
Felt the same size wise when I moved from the s6lite to the s8+, I really miss the ability to carry the tablet without too much heft. I wish Samsung makes 10inch oled
It's an important comparison because with the new update policy most are likely to hang on to these for long time much like I will. Buyers remorse only lasts for 28 days here in the UK. I think the + is the sweet spot-I think this matches the ipad Pro better. I'm happy with mine except for no spell check with the cover keyboard. My Samsung eco system (watch, tablet, fold, pay, tags) is starting to work but it's hard to set UP and not so intuitive. Thanks for your non biased reviews.
Got the Ultra yesterday and using it now. The display is beautiful. The viewing experience is unmatched compared to other tablets. The best viewing experience among all tablets. Beautiful design as well. Yes, it's big, but when you use it, you'll appreciate the size, especially when you open 2 or 3 apps at the same time. No app is cramped, making multitasking experience great as well. It's not for someone who's actively on the go every day.
Watching this from my Tab S8. Thank you a lot for these comparison videos. They helped me a lot with choosing this over an iPad Air 5, and I'm very happy with my choice. My previous tablet was iPad Mini 4, so the size of Tab S8 is just right for me. I prefer smaller, compact size tablets as I already have a 15" laptop and I use tablets mostly to read books and webtoons, draw/colour, game, and watch Netflix and YT. The stylus is a novelty for me, so I'm very happy it's included - I've become a huge Spen fan:)
Same here! Have been a huge iPad fan for a while, but the iPad Mini 6 really let me down. Didn't know what I was missing, loving my S8! And the S Pen is just eons ahead of the Apple Pencil.
How is the screen of the Tab S8? I usually watch content in a pretty dark room (dark like when you go to the cinema) and even if the screen of my previous ipad pro 11 2020 was really good, I was really bothered by the graysh bars that you showed up while watching stuffs. The 16:10 should help because the black bars will be much smaller, but are they really noticable or not?
I think the excitement of my ipad mini went away quickly when I had to zoom in to read anything. Ipad mini was a good in theory thing for me but I fell for it once haha
I wanted a portable one so I first looked at the S8, but when I discovered the best display isn't on the smallest one I went for the S8 plus. I haven't had a tablet (apart from using old ones as Smarthome displays) in years so I haven't got any good recent references. I am very satisfied with my S8 plus for everyday use.
How are you liking your tablet and hows the battery so far? im debating on which one to get today , my brother has the tab s7 and it made me want to get my own im definitely gonna get the ultra or s8+ because of the amoled screen
Awesome video. If anyone is wondering, yes, the Tab S7 is louder than the Tab S8+ at max volume. I had both and tested it myself. But they are both really loud nonetheless.
I settled for the S8+ for sheer utility purposes. I didn’t want to have another huge device in my camera bag, as my laptop is the bulk of my kit, so having the 12.4 inch display is JUST big enough to throw in my bag for a bigger editing surface than my tab S7.
I got the S8 and it fits my needs. I already have my laptop so I didn't need a bigger screen with other models. However, I saw that AMOLED screen in person at Best buy and it's gorgeous 😂
@@RamiRami-nf6hg i have it and yeah it's an lcd, although one of the best lcds i have ever seen, barely any difference compared to my amoled phone unless i use it in dark

I recently got a tabs7+ based on your video. In person the ultra is just huge!! its basically a laptop display. Good for if you need to be showing others things on your tablet but for working on the go and content consumption the s7+ is already too big to be handheld comfortably. i had to put a case on mine just to give it enough heft and protection that I felt ok using it without breaking it. Great job presenting and delivering relevant info in a clear, concise manner.
If the main difference is screen size, I'd actually prefer the Plus even though I'd like to use it like a portable second display. My thinking is that the smaller one is even more portable while the Ultra seems almost like lugging a second laptop around. But that AMOLED and latency is important to me since the main reason I'd be getting it is as a stylus display for my laptop. I have the S22 Ultra and really love the stylus, and can see the benefit of using it for Photoshop and Illustrator amongst other things.
5:05 A micro-usd card slot is something I've never heard of before 😂 Jokes aside, great comparison between these. I just ordered the s8+. I bought the 256gb model, keyboard case included as well as the s-pen. Just had to purchase a screen protector, charger and a 512gb memory card. The total ended up at 1000 euros. If I would have gone with similar storage with the ipad pro 12.9" 512gb, apple pencil 2 and keyboard, that would have ended up at over 2000 euros. Hard to justify that price tag. I use an iPhone 13 Pro Max, and the Macbook Pro 16" M1 base model as my other main devices. thanks for the video. I've been watching several since launch and even went to the Samsung experience store to see which one I liked better. I like the size of the ultra, but I think I'll get the S8+. It has more color options, seems to be more portable and still has the amoled display
Great video as always! Watched this from my tab s8. I finally got it today, and loving it so far! The size is definitely just right for me. My only issue so far is the too aggressive blue-light filter. Thanks for creating videos on the tab s8 series as they made me less anxious about my decision to preorder it haha 😄
Hey aixeia, you mentioned that you didn't like the aggressive blue light filter. Samsung has a setting called eye comfort shield, which will filter blue light. I hope this helps
@@rnshorts6497 hi, the eye comfort shield is actually the one im talking about, sadly. It's too warm. Though i can live with it. I just have to make the brightness lower, which works since I have to keep the brightness low at night anyway haha
@@lucasnicolae4573 yup, also done that. it definitely makes the warmth more bearable but i can't help compare it with my AMOLED phone LOL. but it's just a minor annoyance. i'm still loving most of the tab experience!
actually s7 and s7+ is still capable of the things that three tablets can do,it is even cheaper. for the os update, that can be unessential somehow because there is no gigantic improvements between every version of one ui update. sometimes,I'll prefer to one ui 3 instead of one ui 4.
I bought an Ultra S8 tablet 4 days ago and loved its thin design and all but it's HUUUUGEEEE! You definitely need a stand cover unlike smaller version such as S8+ . I am now thinking to return Ultra and get S8+ If you want a monitor screen then get Ultra.
Edit: Ordered the S8 ultra today for $550 (Samsung gave me $500 for Tab S6 Lite that I got at massive discount). $200 extra on Accessories. I got 65w charger, 20000 maH power bank, free Galaxy buds live, and Tab S8 Ultra case by Samsung. Savings: ~$1000
Great work and very educative, Thank you. I would like your honest advice , I intended to order Tab 8 Ultra next month , should I wait for Tab 9 Ultra?
I am really in doubt of replacing my Surface Pro with an S8 or an S8+. I notice I hardly ever use the SP as tablet on the couch. In most cases I use the SP as a laptop. So that would verify going for the S8. However I am worried I will be disappointed with the smaller size when using it for productivity. Can you shed any light on that? I am 100% sure I don't want the Ultra as I am sure I will never use that one as a tablet.
I bought an S8 this week. I'm in the UK and bought it from Currys who are offering 15% discount which made quite a difference. I also ordered the slim keyboard and power supply from Samsung which were already discounted but I got an extra 40% discount for ordering 2 accessories. I just need a screen protector and a Bluetooth mouse and I'm all set. And broke!
@Buzás András I've never owned a device with a Super AMOLED display but the TFT on the S8 is fine for me, impressive in fact. Probably best if you went along to a dealers and compared an S8 with the S8+ and/or S8 Ultra, both of which have the AMOLED display. You have to pay a hefty premium however for the "better" display. With the difference you could buy a PSU (not included), case or keyboard etc.
@@Sasuke.out.of.Chakra I bought the keyboard cover along with the power supply direct from Samsung. The keyboard cost £48.98 and the power supply cost £18.48. They were on offer any way but because I bought two items I got extra discount. I cannot find these on the Samsung website just now. I just checked Currys website and they have the keyboard cover for £119 which is still quite pricey. I cannot see why any Bluetooth keyboard wouldn't work. One of the advantages of the Samsung keyboard is that it is powered by the tablet. It may be worth doing a search for the S7 keyboard cover which is identical.
You say look at them in the store.... Where I live, outside of Boston, no stores have them as display models... if you want to see one, you have to order one.... which I did! The S8+ and I love it!
The only reason why I am still using my old tab s5e is cause it's the one and only cheap model that has Super Amoled. I wouldn't mind paying for the s8 but since it has an LCD looks like I'm stuck with the s8+.
Thank you for this very thoughtful comparison. I appreciate the work you put into your reviews. One unanswered question for me is how the displays perform outdoors in daylight. I'm selling the Microsoft Surface Go 2 that I bought for portable ham radio operations. Even on an overcast afternoon here in the SF Bay area, with screen at full brightness, the display washes out. A bigger screen than the 10.1" Surface would be a plus, too.
@walkwithme The price is still high but trust me this thing got faster with the updates and so far it isn't slowing down, snapdragon 855 is still a powerful cpu.
Great info..I have a tab s8 10 inch and I like all features but,it's too big ..are there any other tablets u can recomend smaller in size comparable to s8?...thx
Hi, great video! Super helpful! :) Thank you. At 10:16, you set up a "dual display" with the tablet, how did you set that up? I don't see any videos in your channel about it, but I would really like to know. Cheers.
Its called Dex and is built-into the tablet (and Samsung phones). Look at videos of that if you're interested - you just pug a USB-C to HDMI cable into the monitor and you will have a computer-like interface with desktop and everything. You literally don't need a laptop anymore. Dex can also do it wirelessly to where you dont even need a cable. Apple has nothing even remotely comparable and Samsung has been doing this for many years now. If Apple users had access to this technology they would go ballistic thinking it was the best thing that has ever happened to Apple lol That's the problem with Apple - they wont develop this because it will cut into their hugely profitable Mac sales. Android doesn't sell laptops, so they don't care. Apple will make you buy a $1500 iphone and $2000 Macbook just to do what a used $300 Samsung Galaxy from 2017 can do. The latest versions (such as these tablets) do this extremely well. Take a look at videos and you will see how Dex acts just like a desktop - you can even connect a keyboard and mouse if you'd like. Samsung Android > Apple for innovation, all day every day.
Thanks for explaining!!!!! I’m the older generation learning what dex and other options are by watching the videos and WOW!!! I’ve always liked Samsung since cell phones were developed for personal use now to watch a video on dex thanks again!!!!😊
I'd suggest s8 plus, if you want to use it handheld, s8 ultra is more suitable placing on table, taking notes on plus and ultra is superb all depends on usage, if you planning to hold it like a book to read, get the plus
New to Android Tablets (used Note 10+ & like it). What is better if the “pro” like offerings of in the 88” size from Samsung? I’ve only looked at the Tab Active3 8” rugged. Looks to meet my out on site work needs. Is there a coming new version of this? Currently using iPad Mini 6 5g for flight sim & media work. It’s blooming brilliant.
I had initially ordered the S8 Ultra but, after playing with the ultra at a local best buy, I IMMEDIATELY cancelled my order and got the 11 inch. It's more portable.
@@ImmortalDraylo That's talking touchscreen tablets, not laptops. A 14-inch MacBook Pro is more wieldy and easier to use than a Tab S8 Ultra with the (separately bought) keyboard and trackpad accessory. While the screen can be separated, using the Tab S8 Ultra with only the touchscreen can be too big for some people.
@@ImmortalDraylo do you own one? It's almost unwieldy. It's fine if you stay at home but if you're on the go a lot then maybe not so much. I think most ppl should go for a galaxy book 2 pro 360 13.3 since it's nearly the same price after you include the keyboard. Actually, Samsung has sales so the galaxy book 2 pro 360 is cheaper at the moment.

thanks for the video. I've been watching several since launch and even went to the Samsung experience store to see which one I liked better. I like the size of the ultra, but I think I'll get the S8+. It has more color options, seems to be more portable and still has the amoled display
I have watched them all, this is the best comparative review.
Oh wow - I appreciate the kind words. Thank you for being part of the channel!
One mistake, you said only the ultra 512gb storage version comes with 16gb ram... the 8+ version has 16gb of ram as well.
CONGRATS ON THE S8!!! I'm so glad the videos have been helpful!
@@ughleksis you can adjust the intensity in the settings, try decreasing it to like 20-30%. A lot better than >40% which just ruins the experience
@@lucasnicolae4573 yup, also done that. it definitely makes the warmth more bearable but i can't help compare it with my AMOLED phone LOL. but it's just a minor annoyance. i'm still loving most of the tab experience!
What is that green plastic thing on 5:05 that let you see through? Where did u get it? Any link?
Wondering too.
It's something called Magnetic Field Viewing Film
@@Betancourtdm It's something called Magnetic Field Viewing Film
So cool.
@5:06 what are you using to look internally?
actually s7 and s7+ is still capable of the things that three tablets can do,it is even cheaper.
for the os update, that can be unessential somehow because there is no gigantic improvements between every version of one ui update.
sometimes,I'll prefer to one ui 3 instead of one ui 4.
it’s always the best bang for buck to go one gen behind and get the best model when it comes to tech.
I bought an Ultra S8 tablet 4 days ago and loved its thin design and all but it's HUUUUGEEEE! You definitely need a stand cover unlike smaller version such as S8+ . I am now thinking to return Ultra and get S8+
If you want a monitor screen then get Ultra.
So did you get the 8+ ?
@@PranjalJain123 I ended up keeping Ultra.
Edit:
Ordered the S8 ultra today for $550 (Samsung gave me $500 for Tab S6 Lite that I got at massive discount).
$200 extra on Accessories. I got 65w charger, 20000 maH power bank, free Galaxy buds live, and Tab S8 Ultra case by Samsung.
Savings: ~$1000
Wow!!!! Happy for you a awesome shavings!😊
At 9:00 you have it marked as the S8, but is that actually the S8 Ultra? Or is it maybe just the camera angle because it looks massive here
Great work and very educative, Thank you. I would like your honest advice , I intended to order Tab 8 Ultra next month , should I wait for Tab 9 Ultra?
Waiting for 500k. Congrats sagi. You are always been my favorite tech youtuber. Never biased with any brand 😊
This is my first time seeing one of your videos. The explanation was perfect in helping me decide. Thank you!
This is exactly the video I wanted, thanks!
I barely use my SP as a tablet. It's just too heavy.
@@steveywonder1990 , I agree. And the S8+ is slightly smaller than the SP, but way less heavy! Wondering if that would change the usage
What was that you use 5:05 to detect(locate) the speakers on the tablet?
Thank you for your nice and gentle explaining 😊 from now you're my second favorite after Marquis, good job 👌
Oh wow… so glad you enjoyed the video. Thank you for being part of the channel!
What is the battery life in S8 vs S8+ equipped with sAmoled display? Really important factor for me.
what do you think is more sustainable? Samsung Tab S8 or iPad Air 5 / iPad Pro 11 2021 / iPad Pro 2020 ?
Is the international Korean version the real deal or is it a copy ? TY I subscribed
I might trade in my iPad Air for an s8. The iPad’s cloud game pass gaming has horrible latency
Thanks!
Thank YOU, John! 🙏🏻
And broke!
Congratulations. Tabs have become costly fr
How much did the keyboard cost? Can i use a normal bluetooth keyboard instead of the Samsung keyboard cover (currently £299 at currys)
If anyone does get the tab s8 ultra. Be careful w the s pen... mine already snapped at the tiny tip it has. Had to buy a set elsewhere to replace it
The only reason why I am still using my old tab s5e is cause it's the one and only cheap model that has Super Amoled. I wouldn't mind paying for the s8 but since it has an LCD looks like I'm stuck with the s8+.
Buy a used S7 +
my s8 ultra hasn't delivery yet after two months...
Does DEX work well in the S8? I've heard it does not fill the full screen on the second display, so you get to see black bars on the sides.
Are we going to just scroll past the fact that this guy has a paper x-ray thing??? 5:06
Where do i find a s8+ book cover with touchpad. I don't find any, only for the ultra
Where do you get that wallpaper on ipad at 2:43
Thank you for this very thoughtful comparison.
Nice and detailed comparison, my Tab S6 is still a beast so I won't upgrade this year.
@walkwithme The price is still high but trust me this thing got faster with the updates and so far it isn't slowing down, snapdragon 855 is still a powerful cpu.
👌🏻👌🏻
9:05 you say you prefer larger tab when writing and then show the smallest tablet?
Great info..I have a tab s8 10 inch and I like all features but,it's too big ..are there any other tablets u can recomend smaller in size comparable to s8?...thx
I would recommend the s6 lite (2022)
I like your stick figure artwork! That's about the extent of my artistic ability as well.
It’s taken years of practice 😂🤣
Would you compare Galaxy book2 360 to S8 ultra?
I figured the S8+ was a nice middle ground for my flights and it works great.
If Apple users had access to this technology they would go ballistic thinking it was the best thing that has ever happened to Apple lol
That's the problem with Apple - they wont develop this because it will cut into their hugely profitable Mac sales.
I have the S7 Plus. I am thinking about upgrading to the ultra. If you have the phone, will it work together
Which one would you recommend for teachers, I'm looking to replace all my books in pdf, taking notes, lesson plan, check lists etc. Thanks in advance.
I'd suggest s8 plus, if you want to use it handheld, s8 ultra is more suitable placing on table, taking notes on plus and ultra is superb
all depends on usage, if you planning to hold it like a book to read, get the plus
What's best for video editing 🤔?
Where can you buy the cover with keyboards that covers the s pen as well? It's so hard to find
Awesome job doing the comparisons, thank you! Ps what is the name of the game you are playing with the girl and the bow?
Thanks so much!!! It's Genshin Impact. Hope that helps.
@@TechGearTalk Thanks so much! It does :)
Are they have similar screen brightness?
I had initially ordered the S8 Ultra but, after playing with the ultra at a local best buy, I IMMEDIATELY cancelled my order and got the 11 inch. It's more portable.
Really isnt that bad... its super thin and barely weighs anything. You do realize people lug laptops around that are bigger?
too big if u go outside but i stay at home 24 by 7
@@ImmortalDraylo That's talking touchscreen tablets, not laptops.
@@rbasi25 i do, i literally have 0 issues w its size lol.
Aside from all the comparison, what was the car game at 6:54 named? 😅
Asphalt 9.
Which game is played on @2:14

Ugreen charger link is wrong, please update it
Another great video! Keep up the good work Sagi!
Good job. I just subscribed. I’m going to be switching from Apple to Samsung. Will it be possible to transfer all my data from my iPad to the 8s ultra?
where do you get that tablet stand?
Thank you sir. Please let me know: Can we use S pen only on Ultra ,or also on s8,and S8 +
Also :Is there any difference in features between S8+ and Ultra ?
As someone who plans to save up and buy an S8 Ultra to replace my laptop. It puzzles me why the tablet doesn’t support cellular connectivity
Great review. . Is there any issues with viewing angles on the S8 (normal one). Want to buy one but not sure if it's worth spending extra money on the amoled when the base model is acceptable. Any advice
No issue
Does the ultra have a port for a chip to be connected to my cell carrier. Thx
Nice video comparison. Been waching your video comparison even back on the s7 series. Just been wondering, do all of them have hdr10+ support? Or only the plus and ultra? And, will that be a major issue when watching some vids like on netflix or nah?
I need this answered as well. Been looking for a good tablet to stream videos and movies and stream games on as well.
Can any of the s8 use SketchUp? Looking at getting one for cad drawings for work.
Whats the magic green film that shows internal speakers of the S8 ?
is it real ?
Also, how does this pair with the S22 Ultra.
Are these LTE compatible?
Id love to slap my data only Sim Chip from my Fi plan in this bad boy and take it on the go.
The Video is great, nice work. For myself, I am still wondering what to use such a tablet for. I have a tab s6 lite which is enough to write Notes, draw, watch pictures etc. For everything else my laptop or smartphone seems to be more useful. Could someone elaborate on why anyone needs tablets like this? :D or at least on what they are better at than much cheaper ones, a phone or a laptop?
I really wanted the s8 plus but it wasn't in shock so I bought the s8 and it's smaller and allows me to game without having to move my hand alot
Thank you for making such detailed video
Samsung on top. I got like 10 samsung products and none have failed yet.
Brightness nits and screen reflectivity was not spoken about. Another thing is you should use sections in your video to easily navigate. Rest all was great, I would applaud your presentation skills. Good luck
Hey what are the specific names for the exact phone stands he's using at 2:42?
Loved the review thanks man !
Excellent video review, thanks a lot!
Glad it was helpful. Thank you for being part of the channel!
My only question is can it run Sonic riders on the GameCube using the dolphin emulator?
Could you please tell us the life of the S Pen and/or Apple Pencil in your typical use? Like how often do you have to replace the tips of the pens? Thanks
