One of my own favorite things about Rosado is the subtle hints that he might be a fey creature. He comes from the village of the "Fair Folk" who are supposedly all as androgynous as him, he can party for days on end without rest, and he's a terrifying presence in battle. He may actually represent a new kind of supernatural being for the series.
My personal Top 10: 10) Jean (boy saved my units as a Martial Master and being another sane person ala Alear made him rather appealing) 9) Hortensia (wanted to punt her like a football first I saw her, but I warmed up to her quickly. Unit wise, I swallowed my pride, gave her Veronica Emblem, and spammed Fortify+ every turn to save myself a lot of work and resources) 8) Ivy (she's a Fates tribute that I liked, and Grasping Void being a watered down Rending Skies is still Rending Skies that I'm more than willing to use) 7) Citrinne (easily the greatest magic user in the game, and I kinda like her "rich in dollars, poor in sense" angle that they went with some of her supports) 6) Chloe (magic and evasion tank, also her foodie characterization reminds me of this Mukbang videos I used to watch) 5) Louis and Jade (seriously, those two were pivotal during my grinds for being aggro magnets that made Smash Weapons viable, although Louis is on the more bland side, I still liked J. Michael Tatum voicing him, while Jade's stone faced comedian writer being relatable for me as an aspiring writer) 4) Alcryst (protect him at all costs, while he goes "all-crits" on his target practice with his Killer Bow+5) 3) Diamant (an absolute unit and I stuck with Roy since it melts through armor and a consistent +1 range, and personality wise, while very admirable as a human being, I've seen done already with Chrom, albeit, the flaws help with his growth) 2) Yunaka (mage killer incarnate, and hiya-papaya all the way. Also, I turned her into a Wolf Knight with a Flame Lance, and she now added armor units to her menu) 1) Panette (crit monster incarnate, once reached 90% crit rate with her personal skill and Killer Axe +5, loved the contrast of her trying to put up a face hiding her delinquent side, and her relationship with Pandreo is really heartwarming despite their differences)
I definitely agree with most of your list. Yunaka especially is a new personal favorite FE character of mine after unlocking her support with Citrinne by accident. Such a quirky, bubbly, entertaining character with a heart of gold & a tragic past she’s trying to run away from, plus she was easily my best unit in battle thanks to daggers being busted, her personal skill, and emblem Corrin. She barely got hit and crit like there’s no tomorrow.
It's really interesting to see how different taste in characters can be. My favorites so far are Alcryst, Celine and Kagetsu. And yes, I am still using Celine. I like her. And especially her support with Alcryst since they both worry about their brothers. I first wanted to give the pact ring to Alcryst but he is way too cute with Celine. So I am taking Kagetsu instead. A mega weirdo who wants everyone to be his friend. I still haven't finished this game sadly. But I am having fun with it and I really enjoy what it has to offer. I just get easily distracted. Very easily distracted. And I also start work next week, so I really need to make sure to set aside extra time for gaming whenever I can. I also haven't played Future redeemed yet. I really want to do all those sidequests in the basegame first. But I'm glad to see more of your content and hope you talk more Xenoblade soon. I love Xeno and Fire Emblem.
I used Celine on my 2nd play through on hard and reclassed her as a sage. And even then her magic was kinda lacking. Anna was out damaging her as a High Priest and that took a lot of time and investment to make her that

8:41 me with Louis. Sigurd allows Louis to overcome his one real weakness: movement. He became the GOAT in my initial run thanks to the power of Sigurd and an engraved killer lance
I’m not gonna do a top 10 because Kagetsu is all I need and I am kinda surprised that not many people agree Dude is a dork in character and also kinda carried my run in gameplay, he’s like Dunban with that one-handed dodge tanking
My favourite character is Kagetsu. But honestly, engage has one note characters but they’re memorable in the pure goofiness Stand outs for good supports for character growth would be Ivy and Alcryst, Veyle and Hortensia, Diamont and Alcryst, Celine and Alcryst, Yunaka and Citrinne
For future reference, the reason alear's doubles kept getting targeted is because the enemies didn't see a oneshot on anyone. Enemies will prioritize getting a kill above all else, so if they don't see a one hit kill on your units they'll go after the doubles who they can oneshot
Can't say I have a set order on my Top 10 characters, but these are my 10 favorites, judged on how much I used them and how much I generally like them: Framme Alear Nel Gregory Veyle Merrin Rosado Chloe Yunaka Lapis
As a fellow Lapis fan, I shared the exact same thought when I did everything to make my waifu not trash by changing her to a wyvern knight and feeding her multiple stat boosts, and giving her Roy plus a maxed-out +5 tomahawk to ensure she killed everything. Goldmary was a close second.
Honestly I never had too much of a Strength problem with Lapis (also a fan! Girl reminded me of Nephenee from Path of Radiance who I loved! If I don't make her a Swordmaster/Hero! Then she's going down the Halberdier line because "Red Haired Nephenee!") I usually used a Energy Drop and strangely she gets good rolls on her STR Growths! Which works WONDERFULLY with her HIGH AS HELL SPD growths. But yeah I did find the Wyvern Knight to be her best Flyer choice (and loved the outfit too!) Goldmary I almost skipped till she impressed me on her intro map (CH 16) when she was dodging like a Swordmaster (strange seeing how the Hero class has always been the more "Defensive" of the two swordwielders, but hey I liked it) and Tanking hits that did land. Plus she would catch enemies with a NASTY surprise if they didn't damage her and she had her SPEAR equipped when I was attacking .....or just used Lucina Engage Attack and she was nearby with FULL HP because of Brave Assist LOL. But I REALLY started loving the Twins since making them a Royal Knight (Framme) and Sword Mage Knight (Clanne) in my last Hard/Classic run. Made sense as they were the Christmas Knights of this game (First units, Red and Green) and I thought I'd hate them at first because of "Faye & 3Houses Leonie" but they ended up being more 3Hopes and Non-Jeralt related Leonie to me! Especially Framme! And putting them in those classes were fitting (being Vander Squires and all) Hell I loved the old man himself! Even though as a STRAIGHT UP JAGEN (and a BAD one because they tried TOO HARD in balancing him that he fell off WAY earlier then most Jagens do! He's got the HP, but his defense is bad and lowering his BLD that his axes make his SPD a JOKE which is bad for Paladin's made me wonder WHY they didn't just make him a Great Knight! I was able to use him till CH11) he does fall off early unless you devote ALOT to him. What I liked was most Lords have a Closeness to the Christmas Knights and Jagens that they've known for Years before the story! But Alear JUST met these three upon awakening and they only know him as their LIEGE they took care of while they were sleeping with the Twins being Fans then actual "retainers" so I do like how their supports were largely them GETTING along and trying to get to know them SO they have that bond. Plus Chapter Ch25 REALLY hit hard as first run I DID keep the Three for the whole game and having to fight "HER" was sad, especially the battle Conversations. Veyle I did like what they tried to do with her! There were HICCUPS, but I'll say this! She, Alear and Sombron were kind of what I WANTED from Corrin, Lilith and Anankos! Why oh WHY did they decide to background Lilith HARD in Revelations? Makes no goddamn sense after the reveal in the Awakening Trio's DLC that she was Corrin's younger Half-Sister (Older in appearance ONLY because she was BORN in her form from the start) and basically the "only bio sibling OF Corrin's Family STILL ALIVE" that you'd thinks she'd have said something or been the one giving alot of the explainations instead of "silencing her and Corrin NEVER FINDING OUT ABOUT!" Practically those saying Engage is WORSE then Fates must have forgotten that Fates is STILL Worse! Even if I give the overall story an "Average Rating" at best! (And Engage a Moderate but Higher then Fates score because everything was Consistant! Fates Contradicted itself ALOT because of the Route System! Same with 3Houses which is why I feel if they NEED to use a Route system! They should follow Thracia 776 and Binding Blade way of Routing by giving DIFFERENT sets of Chapter Missions when you reach certain points! Easy to explain the same characters who get recruited no matter what being in THAT area specifically then what those games did giving you "Different characters" as Mareeta was too important early on to just SIDE LINE her if you went a different route, same with Miranda! Lets NOT fully copy what those games did but the main point is with 3Houses and Fates Route systems, you started noticing issues as the writers attention was GREATLY divided that it caused issues in the long run, FATES ESPECIALLY) but the revelation of Alear's true past I will say worked out well because again. THIS IS WHAT I WANTED WITH CORRIN!
My top 10 would go 10) Alear 9) Mauvier 8) Fogado 7) Goldmary 6) Hortensia 5) Veyle 4) Alcryst 3) Alfred 2) Yunaka 1) Ivy I absolutely love Ivy personally. I love her design and voice. Heck I bought an Ivy print sign by her VA. But I like how she subverts expectations. People expect her to be Camilla 2.0 based on her intro cutscene and while she has similarities. She’s a lot more reserved, dorky, and cringe fail which I personally love and find adorable and relatable for me. And unlike basically all of Engage’s cast. Her reason for being devoted to the Divine Dragon make sense and isn’t just bc they’re the Divine Dragon which constantly annoyed me.
Alear really is great. You'd think with the whole "living god" thing, they might be a bit... much. But really, the even-headed approach they take to the role, as well as that role's meaning to the connection between themselves and Lumera (no spoilers), brought me right back to the days of Chrom and Lucina. Normal people at heart who are made heroes by their willingness to step up when trouble knocks. Refreshing. And can we just talk about Anna for a second? The character's always had a strong chaotic vibe to her. What better way to emphasize that than to make her a little gold goblin? Best Anna, 10/10, would not window shop again.
I think my top 10 would be mostly the same as yours, although I would include Pandreo, Kagetsu, and Alcryst in the higher end of the list. Also I know you didn't include DLC characters, but I would also put Zelestia in my top ten or at least an honorable mention
Honestly I kept Celine the whole way through my game and this may different for others but she killed everything in her path. Also while I did do the same class for Chloe, I used Leif with her and she became an enemy phase critter. Also probably my favorite engage character would honestly be Yunaka. I loved her supports and love how before she crits, bubbly and happy. The second she crits, serious and back to bubbly after killing her enemies. Great video as always Omni
Let's be honest though. If he had like 35 skill no one would be arguing that he's the best character in the game. Efficient self-sustain + Vantage + Wrath + Roy/Ike/Hector Ring = Unstoppable Force AND Immovable Object.
Oh this is gonna be hard, but yea here goes 10. Timerra 9. Celine (No i didn't drop her) 8. Veyle 7. Yunaka 6. Diamant (hey a male cool) 5. Alear Being 1 of the only down to earth characters fits being basically new to the world. And unlike other Avatars (I been playing since Awakening) she (I played as a female better voice and design to me) has the best character. Her with Byleth made me able to use the other characters evenly with her (on Hard and with DLC). 4. Ivy She's so different from what I was expecting. I expected her to be cold to everyone and not caring but no she's caring and tries to help dispite it looking like she betrayed her kingdom and flying magic go bur. 3. Etie What can I say I love a strong girl and her loving to work out while also doing other things like tea with Celine. Together with Lyn was chef kiss. 2. Merrin Loving animals like I do I just got along with her and feel in love with her trying to be a knight dispite her mom saying otherwise and even in 1 of her supports/ending she says she'll return to be leader. Sigurd with her made her untouchable. 1. Lapis I won't lie when I first meet her I didn't like her but after that and seeing her supports I feel in love with her(U can guess who I S ranked) her coming from the country side and be caring and resourceful was cool. I loved who at the start yeah she din't want the credit or even a thanks as royalty but after getting comforble she helps everyone out with what they need, shy yet determine 2 traits I enjoy seeing together. Her with Lucina was so stupid that she became 1 of my best characters Yea most r females...what i love my girls what can I say lol.
I can't believe the lack of respect for Ivy. Crazy magic damage? Check. Flying Unit? Check. High Build so she isn't slowed down by Bolg/Ex? Check and check. Surprisingly bulky for a mage character? Check. Acts aloof but is actually a total dork and easily flustered? Check. And finally, S+ design.
Was surprised at Seadall, pleasantly surprised at Hortensia since she's one of my favourites too and I didn't think a lot of people would rank her as one of their favourites. Then again, all the royals are very strong contestants for being someone's favourite which I love, this game just has so many good characters. And the build up to seeing Diamant the chad being first is amazing. Personally my top favourites are: 1. Alcryst 2. Céline 3. Diamant 4. Alfred 5. Hortensia 6. Goldmary Runner ups that I vibe with but aren't liked enough to fall into my fave category are Louis, Alear, Pandreo, Ivy, Mauvier, Chad Mauvier with the Warp Staff, Zelkov, Citrinne, Yunaka, Rafal, Fogado, Rosado. But seriously, I can't think of a character in Engage that I hated or disliked, personality and/or designwise unlike some other games (lol 3H and Fates), which is pretty cool.
It’s a testament to the quality of the game that my own top 10 is * vastly different * (best Zelkov voice) than yours. My best units were Ivy, Fogado, Citrinne, Kagetsu, Alear, and Panette. Diamant with Hector Emblem is really good, especially if you give him and Ike-engraved tomahawk. He was able to enemy-phase his way through a solid chunk of the game
All I can say is: nice list. Because half of the stuff you said I have no idea how to get it because I either lack knowledge or I probably don't need it because I'm playing on the base difficulty since it's the first FE game I'm playing (more than a couple of maps compared to when I tried Awakening or Echoes is already a surprise for me) The only thing I know right now is that I'm still baffled that an axe fighter like Boucheron got less strength procs compared to Anna (which got even one more strength proc on her first level up after I changed her to Mage). One of many reasons I don''t understand some initial classes choices and expecially the growth rates in general that this series likes to do. I'm also probably one of the few that still uses Celine more than Alfred, mostly because I already have Louis and Chloe to do my lance work I guess. Still on post chapter 11 so prob something will change IDK. All I know is that I have no flippin idea of what I'm doing.
I enjoyed this video and agree with some things/disagree with others. For example Alear is a great lord because they are simple and normal, spot on. BUT Alear is not the best Lyn user. My boy Alcryst takes that spot, even more so if you have dlc and inherited the weapon sync skill. But we all know the best, Diamont baby. I love him. . As someone who has only played on maddening for multiple runs, I curious on if your thoughts of characters will change after you do maddening (though dlc breaks the game) and emblems. Roy is top tier. He adds so much damage and utility to any physical character you use. Also Erika is one of the strongest in game, not weak. I don't understand the +5 magic it gives, but the other skills it provides are just insane. Overall a fun video to watch. I really enjoyed and subbed.
Seriously, I really do wish this game had the feature of you marrying your other teammates together! Something tells me that they were going to put it in but took it out at the last minute considering the DiamantXIvy. Also my version of laparus was just flat out I was making her my second queen of criticals you already know who the first is we all know who it is she's a trained killer and she is ridiculously broken it also really doesn't hurt matters that she starts off with the best leveling upbring in the series! Seriously emblem makiah is broken when it comes to leveling up, everybody's injured go into the corner activate do noble sacrifice easy two to three levels in the beginning almost every time you get one level up! Best choice to put her on a dodge tank and just let her dodge afterwards ride that one HP thrill!

A minor nitpick after like....a year lol. But just want to point out that while "Design-wise" Ivy fits the Camilla archetype (Big-boobie Magic Mommy), she in no way should be taking points just for not being enough like Camilla lol. She's basically a complete subversion of the Camilla archetype (tbh we haven't really had anyone else as obsessive as Camilla). She has growth, but just not as much as Hortensia. UNFORTUNATELY her growth was done off-screen from the Snow Chapter- to the Escape Chapter lol. Like she isn't even obsessed over Alear in the Camilla-way. Like the game outright says it in her C support of "I Love You" she goes 'I mean as a deity, I love the god I worship". When you look at someone like Sonya from Echoes or Dorothea from 3H, yes they're both big boobie magic baddies but they both have their own motivations. Ivy joins those 2 by being a complete dork. Goldmary too....eh, we really don't need an exact translation of her supports. Because LORD i would be eyerolling if I had to listen to Goldmary talk about how big her tits are like she does in the JPN all the time. At least the localization gave her something else to talk about. Like you don't have to bring up your body to be a bad-bitch XD. Like I really don't get how guys can look at the JPN Etie and Goldmary Support or her interactions with some Emblems and go "Why couldn't Goldmary talk about her big tits????" So its a W on localization because tbh its just a vapid character trait in anime for girls to brag about how big their honky hondas are XD.
Gonna be honest, I really don't understand why people compare Ivy to Camilla. Yes, they are designed to be fan-service and I won't deny that but in terms of character I really never got Camilla vibes from her. For starters I don't really see the "doting older sister" in Ivy, if anything I'd say Ivy is the opposite in this regard because she doesn't dote on Alear because she wants to protect and nurture him, she dotes on him because he is her Deity and more so does it as a form of worship. If anything, she seems to be the 1 that wants protecting, not the other way around. Moving on, Camilla is portrayed to be a ruthless warrior that can quite easily go unhinged as shown if you go down the Birthright Path but Ivy never seems to display these types of mannerisms, if anything she seems to regret killing people but knows it has to be done for the greater good. Yes, sometimes Camilla does show some level of sympathy but it's mostly overshadowed by how brutal she can be. And finally, although this isn't as big of a deal as the other 2, Camilla straight up isn't scared of ghosts. I also believe in the haunted DLC mission which is made for grinding, she actually remains completely calm against the ghosts you fight and remarks how she once went to a forest where the trees would apparently eat you. Yeah man...I dunno I didn't write it. But Ivy being scared of ghosts is something they use several times and that's definitely something you don't get with Camilla so....eh? I just don't see the comparison. The only things I agree on is the fan service and them being a Wyvern Rider.

My top 15 are alear(both genders), ivy, alcryst, diamant, celine, hortensia, yunaka, goldmary, kagetsu, rosado, fogado, chloe, vander, framme and louis
Yunaka was the first female character I gave the pact ring to. Alcryst was the first male. I didn't bench Celine and I never will, even if Citrinne has more raw magic power than her. Finally, while I adore Diamant, in my very first run he was too fragile and had speed issues before promoting.
My top 1 is Citrinne aka MVP. We Olwen ring she can attack twice in a row and at 3 cases with thunder magic. So she kills everybody even boss so easily in hard mode. Because of her high magic it was like 55x2 with no possibility to counter attack. And this 3 range is like one more movement too. My second choice is Goldmary the funniest character in the game for me and as a Wyvern she is just insane. Then Yunaka for the same reasons as everybody. I find it sad that Citrinne is so underrated if we compare with Lapis wich is cute but can't rock as much as her. 😢 As for Alear I find him boring and dull, dunno if it's because I use the guy ?

I like Alear but he’s a little too bland for me to even consider a “good lord” type character. When I think of awesome Lord types, I think Claude, Lucina, hell even corrin was more interesting to me (Robin doesn’t count as a Lord, he’s a tactician) Sorry Alear fans, but he just didn’t do it for me. Is there any nice thing I can say about Alear? The male Alear looks way cooler then the female one, which was the only reason why I chose male Alear for my Engage playthrough because of how ridiculous their female design looks… that and I only play as the male Avatar in these games. Edit: also Timerra or Ivy for honorable mention?… that’s just wrong! Oh well, great list non the less.

My favourite character is Kagetsu. But honestly, engage has one note characters but they’re memorable in the pure goofiness
Stand outs for good supports for character growth would be Ivy and Alcryst, Veyle and Hortensia, Diamont and Alcryst, Celine and Alcryst, Yunaka and Citrinne

For future reference, the reason alear's doubles kept getting targeted is because the enemies didn't see a oneshot on anyone. Enemies will prioritize getting a kill above all else, so if they don't see a one hit kill on your units they'll go after the doubles who they can oneshot

As a fellow Lapis fan, I shared the exact same thought when I did everything to make my waifu not trash by changing her to a wyvern knight and feeding her multiple stat boosts, and giving her Roy plus a maxed-out +5 tomahawk to ensure she killed everything. Goldmary was a close second.
Honestly I never had too much of a Strength problem with Lapis (also a fan! Girl reminded me of Nephenee from Path of Radiance who I loved! If I don't make her a Swordmaster/Hero! Then she's going down the Halberdier line because "Red Haired Nephenee!") I usually used a Energy Drop and strangely she gets good rolls on her STR Growths! Which works WONDERFULLY with her HIGH AS HELL SPD growths. But yeah I did find the Wyvern Knight to be her best Flyer choice (and loved the outfit too!)
Goldmary I almost skipped till she impressed me on her intro map (CH 16) when she was dodging like a Swordmaster (strange seeing how the Hero class has always been the more "Defensive" of the two swordwielders, but hey I liked it) and Tanking hits that did land. Plus she would catch enemies with a NASTY surprise if they didn't damage her and she had her SPEAR equipped when I was attacking .....or just used Lucina Engage Attack and she was nearby with FULL HP because of Brave Assist LOL.
But I REALLY started loving the Twins since making them a Royal Knight (Framme) and Sword Mage Knight (Clanne) in my last Hard/Classic run. Made sense as they were the Christmas Knights of this game (First units, Red and Green) and I thought I'd hate them at first because of "Faye & 3Houses Leonie" but they ended up being more 3Hopes and Non-Jeralt related Leonie to me! Especially Framme! And putting them in those classes were fitting (being Vander Squires and all) Hell I loved the old man himself! Even though as a STRAIGHT UP JAGEN (and a BAD one because they tried TOO HARD in balancing him that he fell off WAY earlier then most Jagens do! He's got the HP, but his defense is bad and lowering his BLD that his axes make his SPD a JOKE which is bad for Paladin's made me wonder WHY they didn't just make him a Great Knight! I was able to use him till CH11) he does fall off early unless you devote ALOT to him. What I liked was most Lords have a Closeness to the Christmas Knights and Jagens that they've known for Years before the story! But Alear JUST met these three upon awakening and they only know him as their LIEGE they took care of while they were sleeping with the Twins being Fans then actual "retainers" so I do like how their supports were largely them GETTING along and trying to get to know them SO they have that bond. Plus Chapter Ch25 REALLY hit hard as first run I DID keep the Three for the whole game and having to fight "HER" was sad, especially the battle Conversations.
Veyle I did like what they tried to do with her! There were HICCUPS, but I'll say this! She, Alear and Sombron were kind of what I WANTED from Corrin, Lilith and Anankos! Why oh WHY did they decide to background Lilith HARD in Revelations? Makes no goddamn sense after the reveal in the Awakening Trio's DLC that she was Corrin's younger Half-Sister (Older in appearance ONLY because she was BORN in her form from the start) and basically the "only bio sibling OF Corrin's Family STILL ALIVE" that you'd thinks she'd have said something or been the one giving alot of the explainations instead of "silencing her and Corrin NEVER FINDING OUT ABOUT!" Practically those saying Engage is WORSE then Fates must have forgotten that Fates is STILL Worse! Even if I give the overall story an "Average Rating" at best! (And Engage a Moderate but Higher then Fates score because everything was Consistant! Fates Contradicted itself ALOT because of the Route System! Same with 3Houses which is why I feel if they NEED to use a Route system! They should follow Thracia 776 and Binding Blade way of Routing by giving DIFFERENT sets of Chapter Missions when you reach certain points! Easy to explain the same characters who get recruited no matter what being in THAT area specifically then what those games did giving you "Different characters" as Mareeta was too important early on to just SIDE LINE her if you went a different route, same with Miranda! Lets NOT fully copy what those games did but the main point is with 3Houses and Fates Route systems, you started noticing issues as the writers attention was GREATLY divided that it caused issues in the long run, FATES ESPECIALLY) but the revelation of Alear's true past I will say worked out well because again. THIS IS WHAT I WANTED WITH CORRIN!

I absolutely love Ivy personally. I love her design and voice. Heck I bought an Ivy print sign by her VA. But I like how she subverts expectations. People expect her to be Camilla 2.0 based on her intro cutscene and while she has similarities. She’s a lot more reserved, dorky, and cringe fail which I personally love and find adorable and relatable for me. And unlike basically all of Engage’s cast. Her reason for being devoted to the Divine Dragon make sense and isn’t just bc they’re the Divine Dragon which constantly annoyed me.
You have Veyle in your top 5. You have my undying respect. Also Ivy is my favorite of the 4 main Royals.
You forgot the cute cool off with Merrin and Rosada. That was epic!

Alear really is great. You'd think with the whole "living god" thing, they might be a bit... much. But really, the even-headed approach they take to the role, as well as that role's meaning to the connection between themselves and Lumera (no spoilers), brought me right back to the days of Chrom and Lucina. Normal people at heart who are made heroes by their willingness to step up when trouble knocks. Refreshing.
And can we just talk about Anna for a second? The character's always had a strong chaotic vibe to her. What better way to emphasize that than to make her a little gold goblin? Best Anna, 10/10, would not window shop again.

I think my top 10 would be mostly the same as yours, although I would include Pandreo, Kagetsu, and Alcryst in the higher end of the list. Also I know you didn't include DLC characters, but I would also put Zelestia in my top ten or at least an honorable mention
Honestly I kept Celine the whole way through my game and this may different for others but she killed everything in her path. Also while I did do the same class for Chloe, I used Leif with her and she became an enemy phase critter. Also probably my favorite engage character would honestly be Yunaka. I loved her supports and love how before she crits, bubbly and happy. The second she crits, serious and back to bubbly after killing her enemies. Great video as always Omni

5. Alear Being 1 of the only down to earth characters fits being basically new to the world. And unlike other Avatars (I been playing since Awakening) she (I played as a female better voice and design to me) has the best character. Her with Byleth made me able to use the other characters evenly with her (on Hard and with DLC).
4. Ivy She's so different from what I was expecting. I expected her to be cold to everyone and not caring but no she's caring and tries to help dispite it looking like she betrayed her kingdom and flying magic go bur.
3. Etie What can I say I love a strong girl and her loving to work out while also doing other things like tea with Celine. Together with Lyn was chef kiss.
2. Merrin Loving animals like I do I just got along with her and feel in love with her trying to be a knight dispite her mom saying otherwise and even in 1 of her supports/ending she says she'll return to be leader. Sigurd with her made her untouchable.
1. Lapis I won't lie when I first meet her I didn't like her but after that and seeing her supports I feel in love with her(U can guess who I S ranked) her coming from the country side and be caring and resourceful was cool. I loved who at the start yeah she din't want the credit or even a thanks as royalty but after getting comforble she helps everyone out with what they need, shy yet determine 2 traits I enjoy seeing together. Her with Lucina was so stupid that she became 1 of my best characters

When I first saw Fogado I said to myself "Claude but in engage?"
Was surprised at Seadall, pleasantly surprised at Hortensia since she's one of my favourites too and I didn't think a lot of people would rank her as one of their favourites. Then again, all the royals are very strong contestants for being someone's favourite which I love, this game just has so many good characters. And the build up to seeing Diamant the chad being first is amazing.
Personally my top favourites are:

6. Goldmary
Runner ups that I vibe with but aren't liked enough to fall into my fave category are Louis, Alear, Pandreo, Ivy, Mauvier, Chad Mauvier with the Warp Staff, Zelkov, Citrinne, Yunaka, Rafal, Fogado, Rosado. But seriously, I can't think of a character in Engage that I hated or disliked, personality and/or designwise unlike some other games (lol 3H and Fates), which is pretty cool.
Oh, and Sommie. I would place Sommie a rank higher than Alfred. Sommie is the GOAT.

It’s a testament to the quality of the game that my own top 10 is * vastly different * (best Zelkov voice) than yours. My best units were Ivy, Fogado, Citrinne, Kagetsu, Alear, and Panette. And Diamant STRUGGLED.

Diamant with Hector Emblem is really good, especially if you give him and Ike-engraved tomahawk. He was able to enemy-phase his way through a solid chunk of the game

All I can say is: nice list.
Because half of the stuff you said I have no idea how to get it because I either lack knowledge or I probably don't need it because I'm playing on the base difficulty since it's the first FE game I'm playing (more than a couple of maps compared to when I tried Awakening or Echoes is already a surprise for me)
The only thing I know right now is that I'm still baffled that an axe fighter like Boucheron got less strength procs compared to Anna (which got even one more strength proc on her first level up after I changed her to Mage).
One of many reasons I don''t understand some initial classes choices and expecially the growth rates in general that this series likes to do.
I'm also probably one of the few that still uses Celine more than Alfred, mostly because I already have Louis and Chloe to do my lance work I guess.
Still on post chapter 11 so prob something will change IDK.
All I know is that I have no flippin idea of what I'm doing.
I enjoyed this video and agree with some things/disagree with others. For example Alear is a great lord because they are simple and normal, spot on. BUT Alear is not the best Lyn user. My boy Alcryst takes that spot, even more so if you have dlc and inherited the weapon sync skill. But we all know the best, Diamont baby. I love him. .
As someone who has only played on maddening for multiple runs, I curious on if your thoughts of characters will change after you do maddening (though dlc breaks the game) and emblems. Roy is top tier. He adds so much damage and utility to any physical character you use. Also Erika is one of the strongest in game, not weak. I don't understand the +5 magic it gives, but the other skills it provides are just insane. Overall a fun video to watch. I really enjoyed and subbed.

Seriously, I really do wish this game had the feature of you marrying your other teammates together! Something tells me that they were going to put it in but took it out at the last minute considering the DiamantXIvy. Also my version of laparus was just flat out I was making her my second queen of criticals you already know who the first is we all know who it is she's a trained killer and she is ridiculously broken it also really doesn't hurt matters that she starts off with the best leveling upbring in the series! Seriously emblem makiah is broken when it comes to leveling up, everybody's injured go into the corner activate do noble sacrifice easy two to three levels in the beginning almost every time you get one level up! Best choice to put her on a dodge tank and just let her dodge afterwards ride that one HP thrill!

A minor nitpick after like....a year lol. But just want to point out that while "Design-wise" Ivy fits the Camilla archetype (Big-boobie Magic Mommy), she in no way should be taking points just for not being enough like Camilla lol. She's basically a complete subversion of the Camilla archetype (tbh we haven't really had anyone else as obsessive as Camilla). She has growth, but just not as much as Hortensia. UNFORTUNATELY her growth was done off-screen from the Snow Chapter- to the Escape Chapter lol. Like she isn't even obsessed over Alear in the Camilla-way. Like the game outright says it in her C support of "I Love You" she goes 'I mean as a deity, I love the god I worship". When you look at someone like Sonya from Echoes or Dorothea from 3H, yes they're both big boobie magic baddies but they both have their own motivations. Ivy joins those 2 by being a complete dork.
Goldmary too....eh, we really don't need an exact translation of her supports. Because LORD i would be eyerolling if I had to listen to Goldmary talk about how big her tits are like she does in the JPN all the time. At least the localization gave her something else to talk about. Like you don't have to bring up your body to be a bad-bitch XD. Like I really don't get how guys can look at the JPN Etie and Goldmary Support or her interactions with some Emblems and go "Why couldn't Goldmary talk about her big tits????"

Gonna be honest, I really don't understand why people compare Ivy to Camilla. Yes, they are designed to be fan-service and I won't deny that but in terms of character I really never got Camilla vibes from her.
For starters I don't really see the "doting older sister" in Ivy, if anything I'd say Ivy is the opposite in this regard because she doesn't dote on Alear because she wants to protect and nurture him, she dotes on him because he is her Deity and more so does it as a form of worship. If anything, she seems to be the 1 that wants protecting, not the other way around.
Moving on, Camilla is portrayed to be a ruthless warrior that can quite easily go unhinged as shown if you go down the Birthright Path but Ivy never seems to display these types of mannerisms, if anything she seems to regret killing people but knows it has to be done for the greater good. Yes, sometimes Camilla does show some level of sympathy but it's mostly overshadowed by how brutal she can be.
And finally, although this isn't as big of a deal as the other 2, Camilla straight up isn't scared of ghosts. I also believe in the haunted DLC mission which is made for grinding, she actually remains completely calm against the ghosts you fight and remarks how she once went to a forest where the trees would apparently eat you. Yeah man...I dunno I didn't write it.
But Ivy being scared of ghosts is something they use several times and that's definitely something you don't get with Camilla so....eh? I just don't see the comparison. The only things I agree on is the fan service and them being a Wyvern Rider.
Chloé is an early game "PEG" knight, gurl I spat my tea over mt desk, I guess it's cannon now, Chloé is a peggin' queen

Yunaka was the first female character I gave the pact ring to. Alcryst was the first male.
I didn't bench Celine and I never will, even if Citrinne has more raw magic power than her.
Finally, while I adore Diamant, in my very first run he was too fragile and had speed issues before promoting.
I like the Diamant montage more than the Yunaka one.

We Olwen ring she can attack twice in a row and at 3 cases with thunder magic.
So she kills everybody even boss so easily in hard mode.
Because of her high magic it was like 55x2 with no possibility to counter attack.
And this 3 range is like one more movement too.
My second choice is Goldmary the funniest character in the game for me and as a Wyvern she is just insane.
Then Yunaka for the same reasons as everybody.
I find it sad that Citrinne is so underrated if we compare with Lapis wich is cute but can't rock as much as her. 😢
As for Alear I find him boring and dull, dunno if it's because I use the guy ?

I like Alear but he’s a little too bland for me to even consider a “good lord” type character. When I think of awesome Lord types, I think Claude, Lucina, hell even corrin was more interesting to me (Robin doesn’t count as a Lord, he’s a tactician) Sorry Alear fans, but he just didn’t do it for me. Is there any nice thing I can say about Alear? The male Alear looks way cooler then the female one, which was the only reason why I chose male Alear for my Engage playthrough because of how ridiculous their female design looks… that and I only play as the male Avatar in these games.
Edit: also Timerra or Ivy for honorable mention?… that’s just wrong! Oh well, great list non the less.
