I was an active freemasonry when I began to revert to Catholicism. I received a special grace that caused me to abandon freemasonry at the time, thanks be to God. You can't even openly pray to Jesus in freemasonry gatherings.

Same as that: I was a Freemason for 11 years, but at the same same time went to Mass. I didn't have to abandon freemasonry: I was happily expelled 2 years ago 😂. It was heavily Anglican lodge (Church of Ireland) and the opening and closing odes in the lodge were Anglican hymns: "Guide Me oh thou great Redeemer" was one. Sometimes during prayer before the festive board, very obvious Christian prayers were said and nobody batted an eyelid. Any anti-Catholic sentiment I experienced in freemasonry was not due to them being freemasons, but moreso the fact they were practicing Protestants.
@user-tx3ht2te1t that is true: they have no political sway here in Ireland. Freemasonry tends to be an appendant body of the Church of Ireland, sharing members, clergy/chaplains and COI parish halls etc. Of course there are a minority of Catholics in it - I was one (still Catholic), but it's the Catholics who seek out freemasonry for themselves, rather than our Protestant counterparts who often just join the masonic order simply because it's historical in their family lineage their obliged to to so: they often tend not to be very zealous about it. Getting back to your comment about it being on the decline over here: yes, by Grand Lodge of Ireland's own statistics, the average age of an entered apprentice is now 41, so yes - the interest in joining has waned. I'd be interested to hear about the grace you received in pulling you out of the order. I too felt I was scooped up in the nick of time also. I could have walked away, but was intrigued by their "disciplinary" process and wanted to go through the whole kangaroo court they held, leading to expulsion in 2021.

How is a men's Fraternal organisation with a total ban on the discussion of religion or politics in its meetings heretical? Please, I want an answer, think long and hard about it. Religion in Freemasonry is taboo, brethren are encouraged to be active members of their own congregations - is that heretical?
Search online and read the "Permanent Instruction of the Alta Vendita." Freemasonry is not guys in funny hats who sponsor circuses and ride in clown cars. Whilst I had little interest in the Papacy during the reign of Paul VI and John Paul 1, am I not correct in thinking that a man called Michele Sindona was linked with Archbishop Marcinkus (Vatican Bank) and that Freemasonry was involved in the murder of Roberto Calvi and - possibly - Pope John Paul 1? POWER was as significant a factor then, as it is today. The question I have always wanted to be answered by FREEMASONS is, "If you are trying your best to be a good imitator of Jesus of Nazareth, why would you need to belong to a separate, non-Christian, 'charitable' organisation?" How would that further the gospel of Christ? And - if that is not its aim - then what IS the aim of FREEMASONRY? Let's ask the Duke of Kent; or the Prince of Wales!

I was long ago asked to be a Eucharistic Minister in my diocesan parish in the US. My pastor had seen that I often was at church and came to Holy Hour. I went to an all day class offered by the diocese and was installed. For the most part it was the Precious Blood which I distributed. I no longer though serve in this manner, believing as Archbishop Schneider has said that we should move away from distributing communion in the hand that it should be received in the tongue by a priest. Looking back to that incident about 2009 I was distributing the Precious Blood to the faithful and an older man approached to receive I recognized he wore a ring that had Freemason insignia. I was uneasy but I gave him the chalice. Afterward I discussed this with the pastor. I knew that Catholics could not be Freemasons and receive the Host. The pastor told me “You cannot refuse to give communion to anyone who approaches.” The pastor listened to my concern but I don’t know that he was in any way alarmed. I see American priests do not hold this Freemason matter to be a serious one. I spoke to another priest and he kind of thought it funny that I should be concerned. Thank you Mark and Michael for this important discussion. It raised alarms for me then, it baffles the mind why this group will be a subject for the Vatican to open its doors.
I grew up in a rural community and a local man was a fortune teller. The priests refused to give him communion in front of everyone at the rural mass he was attending and where he was known by everyone in the congregation. So yes priests do have the authority to refuse to give communion.

I watched Michael Hichborn the other day. He was interviewing Anthony Stine. Stine claimed that JP II did his Ph.D. Thesis at the Angelicum in Rome, but it was rejected because it was "modernist". This is a total falsehood. Why do these guys spread falsehoods constantly? JP II did his thesis at the Angelicum, and it was resoundly accepted by the professors who reviewed it. For the written part, he received 18 out of 20 points, which is outstanding. He received 50 out of 50 points for his oral defense of his thesis, also outstanding. Garrigou LaGrange quibbled with JP II over the wording of a couple passages, but thought very highly of him. Afterwards, JP II recommended to other students that they attend the Angelicum, because Garrigou LaGrange was excellent and so was the staff. JP II said Garrigou LaGrange and others taught "the real Thomas, not Thomism". What happened is that in order for the Angelicum to bestow a Ph. D, the student had to pay to have his thesis published. JP II ran out of time and money and thought it would be better to return to Poland rather than stay just to have it published by the Angelicum. So he returned to Lublin, became a professor and they published it. Out of this, Hichborn and Stine got "The Angelicum rejected JP II for being modernist". I ask you, how do supposedly faithful Catholics get something so very, very wrong, except out of a weird animus. I therefore do not believe any of their stories.

My Father in Law was a senior Lay preacher in the English Methodist church. He was part of a group investigating whether or not freemasonry was compatible with Methodism. Their conclusion was that it isn't compatible but many in the Methodist church are freemasons so they allowed services where freemasons could take part. For me the interesting finding was that their intention is to create a religion called "Jabulon" made out of a combination of three religions! In my investigations I found that Canterbury Cathedral has a masonic emblem as recognition of funding for building work.

In the main Masonic symbols are from stone masons tools from the time of the building of King Solomon’s temple. Each symbol represents a moral lesson. For example the 24 inch gauge or ruler represents the 24 hours of the day and teaches the importance of spending portions of that day in work, service and prayer to almighty God. Nothing sinister is to found in freemasonry.

The main question for any Christian considering membership with Freemasonry should be, "Which has my highest allegiance, my faith and Church membership or Freemasonry?" It is upon that point other denominations, I understand, have opposed Freemasonry. Michael Hichborn did not explain that a lower degree or level does not possess the information or knowledge of a higher degree, one of the reasons behind Freemasonry's secrecy. Too, for any to churn over, I count fourteen presidents of the United States who have been Freemasons, beginning with George Washington. For those who contribute to the Shriners, well, the Shriners are Freemasons.
What is a catholic to do when one pope contradicts another? Obviously he should believe whichever one he has most recently read. This allows for the "development of doctrine" along the lines of a sine curve.
Ask the Holy Spirit to help discern which one is Catholic and which one is not. Considering the 10 Commandments as a standard it is not that hard to discern.

1. Freemasons in English-speaking countries are religiously harmless. My Church of Ireland great-grandfather, whom I remember during his final years, was a mason.

It is a sin to bear false witness against your neighbors. This is exactly what you're doing here against those who are Masonic brothers. Freemasonry is not a religion.
