    thanks for this video, I have just done one of my wife's - it was straightforward after seeing this. I did remove the wheel though to give better access, allowing me to get my head inside the wheel arch for a better look

    Excellent video and so nice to part that knowledge about the jacking points.

    This is a very useful video - so clearly showing what you need to do I could do it by feel rather than sight. Thanks to another video I did it without jacking up the car but simply by turning the wheel. Luckily I have small hands and nothing got stuck, it took me about 5 minutes.

    Halfords garage charged £20 to do this on my wife's car...I can do it now for cost of a bulb as the other side has gone. Thanks.

      after watching this I thought it so fiddly I'd go to Halfords (thinking 5-6 quid) but if it's £20 I'll have a go..

      I just went to Halfords for the bulb and they quoted £8 no matter how difficult the bulb change (and if they can't do it they refund)

      Just in case anyone is wondering Halfords charge £4.19 for the bulb 💡 and £9 for fitting it. (February 2024)

    thank you for the video - I made a small tool out of a piece of conduit pipe. Realised that there is no way to get it out with your hand, unless you have very very tiny hands.

    I've had a nightmare with these bulbs. Trouble is locking the bulb holder back in position after replacing the bulb. I've had bulbs fall inside the light unit and the more you fiddle around with these bulbs the looser they become until they stop working. For the time I've spent on mine these last few days I think I'm going to take the bumper off and take the light off so I can access it easier or perhaps take it to Halfords who fit them for around £8.

    Great instructive video, especially the tips to avoid disasters.However it’s like working on a Matchbox toy so, being aware of my ineptitude in such mechanical matters, I’ll reluctantly be forking out and getting the garage to assist ! I’d turn a routine task into a financial nightmare…. the space they pack all those electricals into…. joke for home maintenance.

    I thought the drl was the lower separate bulb with the green cap in your video its lower than the main assembly.

    What a pain this job is - should be a simple task, but has designed-in difficulty, made even more-so if you have sausage fingers! Quick note: Bulb holder turn anti-clockwise to release it. Great vid

  • @blot100

    I've bought a bulb and hit a hurdle at the first step. On my car the access flap (ooer) is held in place with Philips screws not a clip and they have been worn down prob by the previous owner...can't get one out at the moment.
    (BTW if you have the same a 'stubby' screwdriver is needed due to the wheel being in the way)

    Thanks, out of interest, what is the green block below for? Looks like a light fitting of some kind?

    • @PulpnPress
      @PulpnPress  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi, the green socket if for the car’s wiring loom to connect to the light unit. When you remove the front bumper (for other works) you need to disconnect these.

    Just bought my daughter one of these and want to fit LED bulbs instead of original filament type, anyone know if these cars have a CAN-BUS system?
    Want to swap the number plate bulbs for LED too.

    • @BlatentlyFakeName
      @BlatentlyFakeName ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My 2009 Abarth has a can-bus so I'm guessing yes for all the 500 models. I tried LEDs and they did not work, the polarity apparently needs reversing which means re-wiring the lights. Not worth it.

    Thanks for the very helpful video. Let's be honest; it's not a nice and easy job is it?
    Real question: why do they keep popping? What's the actual cause?

    • @PulpnPress
      @PulpnPress  25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi, if they keep popping, check the connection inside the bulb holder. If there is a bad connection to the bulb, it could contribute to short bulb life.

    8:29 I wrecked that part with the emergency jack. The car should NOT have those arrows, it’s completely counter intuitive.

    • @domenicocimino4531
      @domenicocimino4531 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The arrows are indicators where the seam weld areas are strengthened to take the emergency jack. These points are only to be used with the correct emergency jack with the seam in the slot of the jack.

    WARNING:
    OK I love TH-cam videos like this but sometimes they can lead you astray.
    I have a Fiat 500L popstar (2015) and there were some differences to that in the video that got me into trouble.
    1) inspection flap removal
    This is secured by two Philips screws. It is confusing as they just seem to keep turning. I found out they are inserted into plastic lugs that widen on tightening. So for removal, they only have to be partially undone before pulling the flap out.
    2) rubber cap is the same.
    3) It's a different smaller bulb...I tried pulling it out and it shattered leaving some stuck in the fitting. I later found out the correct bulb for this car is smaller and is supplied ALREADY INSERTED INTO THE FITTING so the bulb with the fitting need to be pulled out as one unit.
    To add insult to injury the bulb I broke seemed to be fine (as in the elements weren't burnt out) and of course, after fitting the new one; no luck. Guess there must be a loose connection somewhere else...

    My hands are too big for this job so I take the wheel off. My left bulb blows frequently but my right never does. Mystery!

    • @PulpnPress
      @PulpnPress  ปีที่แล้ว

      I would recommend checking the terminals inside the bulb holder. If the connection is poor, it will shorten the build life.

    Just tried this. You need hands the size of a 3 year old to even attempt to do this. Not a chance for a fully grown male

    It looks easier to take off the bumper lol

    • @domenicocimino4531
      @domenicocimino4531 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That is a viable option, however you run the risk of breaking the plastic brackets that hold the bumper to the wings, also you will need to remove the fixings holding the wheel arch liners to the bumper.
