    Used this last summer to paint an rv with rustoleum oil enamel paint. Had zero issues with it. You don't have to thin the paint, but it can make it a little easier. You have to play around with the settings a little bit to get the spray right. One big thing that you need to do is allow the blower to fully spin up before you start spraying. Partially pressing the trigger will turn on the blower without paint and fully pulling on the trigger will start spraying. This also allows you to stop spraying without turning off the blower. It makes a huge difference.

    This unit has a two stage trigger. This will prevent the spitting. Read the manual and you'll figure it out. The first stage pulls the paint to the nozzle and the second stage pushes the paint out for no spitting. I use mine all the time and with no issues.

      It’s pretty self explanatory guys. Pull the trigger lightly and you will hear the pump motor come on. A second or so later, you can fully depress the trigger with no spitting. It’s basically like priming the paint up to the tip.

    You know, I bought this same sprayer. And the first instruction says that you should run water through it prior to using it. I use the same type of paint and did not have to thin it at all. He Must have had a setting to stain instead of paint. I had absolutely no problems with this device. I completed my whole patio project (4 gallons) with it. I believe I’ll do a video on it. It was easy to clean. And I found it very easy to work with. Did you notice I said easy twice because that’s how easy it was to use it. No training required for this item. I had the old power plus model and it still works this was like a nice upgrade.

    Issue with splatting i feel like if you dont have the motor running before the paint spraying. (Meaning, a partial trigger pull will turn on the motor only, and a full pull back will engage the paint spraying as well. So you should run the motor for a sec before engaging the paint. I didnt have any splatting issues because i did that when painting.) Hope this helps!
    Great vid by the way!

    So your problem is. You pull trigger halfway to start turbine. Then full depress trigger to apply paint.
    As for no filter. You need to strain your paint before putting into container.

    The sprayer worked well for me. I suggest first-time newbies practice with water instead of paint. I suggest watering down a little. I purchased produce "flotrol" and it worked great. THe sprayer worked great for me. Very nice finish after practice. Saved a lot of time painting shutter doors. If you do get blockage you will need to clean out the sprayer head. In conclusion, it worked great. I give it 4 stars.

    I appreciate what you covered here in your video. When you were spraying the table, I noticed that you didn't adjust the spray fan to the smaller width to reduce your overspray.
    I purchased this sprayer to paint the inside of my home, so it is somewhat disconcerting that you don't recommend using it inside. What would you recommend I incorporate into the process to get a good result inside, with this sprayer?
    I am also concerned about the spitting though, as you pointed out.

  • @acgogoacgogo8854
    @acgogoacgogo8854 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The spitting might be a result of not adjusting the uptake nozzle inside the container that draws the paint up. You turn it forward when pointing down, backward when pointing up. That can get messy on the fly so it's probably best it keep the sprayer level and crouch/kneel to paint anything below your waist, say and use a step ladder for anything over your head. Also, you have to keep the paint container really full.

    I agree that the heavier paint is tougher to use with that sprayer but FOUR things I saw you fail at. 1.) let the motor fill the air flow or catch up (then) pull all the way back on the trigger. 2.)The other main thing you did wrong was to turn the gun always keep the bucket vertical. Its the same concept as using a straw there Boss. 3.) keep the tip clean. 4.) I'm not impressed that you are only honest with us when you tell us you're being honest with us.

    use a strainer when you fill the tank. paints should be set to 9-11 per the manual. you won't need to thin the paint if you set the gun to 9-11 instead of the 3 you had it at... (not even close to mid-way) partially pull the trigger, let the turbine spool up, THEN pull the trigger all the way to spray.

      @@ToolReviewZone it is just an extra nozzle, same as the one on it. Should strain paint on any sprayer. Your paint was not to thick from the look of it but the trigger is 2 step, first fan than paint which is variable for volumn.

      I make wedding cakes, and happen to have an airbrush, which is similar to a device like this one. Guess what? It is the same problem: you have to water your icing colors if not you will have problems with the flow of the paint, clogging, etc. Any device takes time to adjust. From what I saw on the video it wasn't that bad. Also, when I bought my sprayer at Lowe's, I also bought a strainer that will help to achieve a thinner texture. So far, the device is doing its job. Good luck!!

    I actually purchased this model a few months ago and ended returning it to home depot after reading a lot of 1 and 2 star reviews without even trying it out myself. I didn't want to mess up after paying I think $99 or what ever the list price was , but I found the exact same model for $45 bucks on fb yardsale which has only been used on two or three small projects. I did read the instructions but never used the first gun. I'm hoping to have a good outcome this this second cheaper attempt :). I was curious if putting a piece of cheese cloth over the intake tube with a rubber bands would help prevent any clogging after initial thinning with water has been done.

    I have all the same problems as the reviewer and more. The one big problem container is prone to exploding off while in use. YES i cleaned the inside and very completely clean. Used it in the house and garage with NO WIND. I bought it for a project to sand and paint my kitchen cabinets. I am trying to get my money back. At best a wall sprayer and outside or fences, NO detail work or cabinets . It spits. blots and clogs. Really bummed out, as I prepped and sanded really well only to have the spray spit bubbles and blotches so I had to wait for it dry and re sand finally resorting to a disposable fine sprayer with a pint bottle . 1 STAR. NO DETAILING> Mislabeled capabilities. The reviewer was being kind. I USED TOP OF THE LINE PAINT.

      +Ptown 77 hey bud. On this sprayer, you need to thin the paint down. The paint used in this video was paint and primer, but had to add water for it to spray. That's why I gave this a lower rating, and I was not all that happy with it. I believe I talk about the paint to water ratio in the vid

      Appreciate it man!!! I got the 3000 which still has problems apparently. I used 1/2 cup initially but that did now work. I'll add around another half cup to see if it is good to go. I know you said around 10%. Maybe I'll have to get without primer next time to see if that makes a difference.

    Do NOT put anything solvent based in this gun. (like lacquer thinner) It ruins the gun. I found this out the hard way. Now my gun is in the landfill. To their credit it does say in the fine print that it will not tolerate anything with certain flash points. I argue that very few will pay attention to that. They should put right on the outside of the box, NOT FOR SOLVENT SPRAYS

  • @waldvogelreview7755
    @waldvogelreview7755 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    lol, that blowback is physics not the function of the gun. The wind outside carries the atomized paint
    Also, there absolutely should be nothing in the paint. You should be feeding it through a mesh filter on the way in. Thinning paint will ALWAYS give you better results. Mixing paint with flotrol wont affect the color at all. Even airless sprayers by GRACO that cost a ton of money get thinned down. It comes down to the user wanting a perfect finish, from a cheap gun, without thinking about the process at all. It just doesnt work that way.

    • @ToolReviewZone
      @ToolReviewZone  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +WaldvogelReview Thanks for the comment. I agree with much of what you said, however this was the only sprayer that gave this much issue when painting. The motor is just not powerful enough to handle paint with primer in it. To much thinning is need to get any through the sprayer, as many other do not have this issue. For the price of this, I can't justify that

      Tool Review Zone on the black section of the blower behind the trigger there is a screw with I think is a t10 head. just turn it counterclockwise a couple of turns, that should fix the spitting before you are ready to paint. the same thing happened to me and this fixed the problem. other than that the other people were correct on how to use it. just my 2 cents.

    • @Adrayven
      @Adrayven 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed.. also, the paint filter complaint was odd.. I get paint filters and strain the paint into the tub.. also, I use a paint liner in my Wagner, makes cleanup so much easier.. I get very little overspray. I've been doing cabinets.. I will also say Behr is crap paint for a sprayer.. I used an acrylic enamel paint on my cabinets and Killz primer both applied with my Wagner Flexio 5000 and the results were great...
      I will say, I keep a rag with me and after a short period of painting, I wipe off the nozzle to remove any possible accumulation of paint to prevent splattering of large amounts of paint. I also was very consistent about straining my paints/primers as it went into the container..
      I had to do NO thinning with the thicker primer or the final top coats..

    People quit making excuses for this shitty spray gun. No you should not have to strain any paint or thin it down. I have never done either. If the gun says it will spray the paint it should. A filter is needed to screen the chunks out of the paint so there is no need to strain the paint. It should have enough power to push unthinned paint also.
