When Sheldon arrogantly asked Mary, "If the great flood were true, what pray tell did Noah feed the big cats?" She answered as quick as a wink "The corpses of floating heathens." I lost it. One of her best.
@@logiknotlogic6586 There are actually over 80 whole world flood accounts from thousands of years ago, it seems to be in every ancient culture. In the year 2000 science proved we ALL share family DNA. This was disproving deeply held beliefs of past ideas of science that were actually very racist. Some flood accounts include someone with a name like Noah with his family and other details that are the same as the ones found in the over 2300 year old Dead Sea scrolls of the pure Jewish and Christian teachings. Not a single account is cute other than what might be found not in scripture or history but in children's story books. The flood was said to cause worldwide death and temperature changes seemingly resulting in a more broken world. See the snow, beasts, shortened life spans, and seemingly volcanic ash written about in Job 38-42 of Jewish, Christian, and Muslim scripture with an app like Bible gateway. People were told over years of what was coming and they rejected the warning and died in their pride. Even after the flood there was issued warning and promises no kids book on it is going to get into. With sea shells on the tops of mountains, fish bones in deserts, and giant beasts extinct, why wouldn't there have been a catastrophic worldwide flood with temperature changes causing extinctions and population loss six thousand years ago? You know, at the start of written history, where it was written about. I can't prove God is real to you. You also can not prove to me he is not real. You also can't tell me I have not experienced him. In the "story" people are given the truth about a future event that can happen and they are given a chance, but in their pride, they choose to reject their loving creator and his only good and wise ways in favor of mocking their only chance at a savior by making themselves little gods. It doesn't work out for them, but it was their choice. God wouldn't force himself on them. Hell is literally eternal separation, a rejection of God when he reaches out to you. They didn't just choose death, they choose hell. I am sure you have heard people say read John 3:16 & 17. Yes, read John 1-3 even if you have read it before. God loves you, why wouldn't he love his own creation and plan for you to be here?
@@SRose-vp6ew firstly, Im not christian. Secondly Im not trying to change your beliefs too. I mean, floods happen all the time and mega events might have actually happened. But as a few sources say, it definitely did not flood the entire Earth. That is undebatable. And please send some sources to prove your point. There were other mass death events like the black death epidemic in the 1350s which killed 75-200million people. If that happened a few thousand years before that(when religions were forming and religious texts were being written), religious texts would instead have something about demons sent by satan to capture and torture the souls of those who werent believers or whatever. Point is over thousands of years, you cannot know the whole truth. Believers themselves are full of inconsistencies. There are the super faithful ones that always go to church and keep praying and preaching, then you have those that go to church occasionally, then you have those that go once a week, then you have those that dont go at all. But all of them believe that theyre on good's side. Shouldnt god not be happy with those who just believe in him but dont go to church or pray? This is just one of thousands. To me, the main point of religion is to keep people good. "Do something bad and you'll go to hell where you'll suffer for eternity" seems like an awful convenient way to keep most people good and its worked so kudos to whoever came up with that idea thousands of years back. Just because I don't believe doesn't mean I wont do good. I still have a moral compass and I don't need god for that. But right now, god and religion are losing their grip on people. Crimes are done in the name of god. Take extremists of any religion for example.

@Leaving Nadir You seem to be confusing style with substance. Because someone says something in a way you don't like, does not mean that they are "racist" or "sexist". It just means they don't subscribe to your idea of how one can or should speak.
Being racist means that you're being malicious/ have malicious intent. She was never being malicious she was just using the wrong words. That's not being racist.
Given sublime lines by the writers, Laurie Metcalfe reveals again what an extraordinary formidable actress she is. I thrilled each time she appeared in an episode.
I am Chinese and I am not really offended by it - as the comments indicated: 1. It's a freaking drama, not a real-life show 2. Mary said the things she said out of ignorance, not malicious intents 3. Political correctness is a way to divide up all races so that people of different skin colors, white, black, brown, yellow etc. would gravitate to their own racial groups and be proud of it instead of unifying/interacting with one another. That's why we have racial issues, it's not about the skin colors, but the ideologies that the politicians and media feed you to make you think you are special, either in an advantaged or disadvantaged way.
I like Mary Cooper. Her dramatic way of expressing both ignorance and what’s considered to be politically incorrect, stressing on how difficult can be just trying to be nice, it’s majestic. She’s not trying to offend anyone, she’s just showing how narrow minds can talk without knowing of being racist or rude.

In the hyper, "I'm offended!" way people think today, some people don't realize she's trying to be respectful to Howard and Raj and not offend or be disrespectful to their beliefs.
Even if she was ignorant of how disrespectful her statements, that doesn't mean she was not being offensive. It would have been worse if she did know her statements were insensitive. In addition, she resorts to stereotyping, which is also inappropriate, and her categorization of races/ethnicities signifies that the more important race is the caucasian race and that other groups are uniform entities with few and ignoble qualities. To recognize the diversity of other races or to have the tact to not generalize is to acknowledge different cultures and not suggest that your culture is superior or more important. Mary also says that one would usually think of white people not wanting to date people of other races, even though this isn't a statement/thought that should be made aloud as it acknowledges an unfortunate norm. So reducing people against Mary's actions as merely being too sensitive is quite narrow-minded.

@@Knightcowboy89 its still just a cute story to meaninglessly talk about. not real

My sister and I stopped being Catholic, my mother had a divine fit but she still loved us and she continued caring and being there for us and our friends. She still has strong ties to her beliefs but she is still caring and human
Divine fit lmao!
I hope you come home.
Brainwashing of a lifetime takes time to get over with.
Mine too. I’m the only one in the family who left the church and when my mother first found out she was convinced she needed to take away the Internet and books. She’s better now. Doesn’t force me to go to church when I’m visiting but I can tell she holds out hope I’ll go back. Sometimes I catch her staring at me when we say grace. I’m just happy she didn’t kick me out for that or for being queer. She can say some nasty stereotypical stuff about people without realizing it but tries her best.
My mum was the same.
"Woman could hunt geese with a rake " 🤣 🤣 🤣
lungiledoll love that one!
Laurie Metcalf is likely the most talented women in sitcom history. Decades if greatness.
For sure Jackie from Rosanne hilarious
There is nothing that she cannot elevate. My favourite is her role in The Norm Show
I think she is rivaled but not necessarily surpassed by Christine Baranski.
Leonard's mother was an absolute nightmare! Christine Baransky played that role to perfection! And Laurie Metcalf IS Mary Cooper!
Leaonard's mom does soften up under the influence of Sheldon and Penny.
I loved the way she played her character.
I love this woman, she may be a little too religious and unintentionally racist from time to time but she's a good person, she trys, she's learning.
If I've some offended you with what I said I apologize for that, but I won't apologize for giving my opinion, nor will I change it, but I do respect yours.
Liz santiago it’s moreover that she doesn’t know customs outside of texas
Frankly more Christians could learn a thing or two from her
@@johnmartin4119 believe me I am born and raised in Houston Texas and still live here and I can honestly say at least 1/3 of Christian people down here are kinda hypocrite while others overly religious to the point they thank Jesus for everything in they even if it's walking and I'm like uggggh I get it already you love God now his name a break!
kelonwashington96 well if the worst thing I can say about a person is they praise god too much then who cares. Besides it’s not like being obnoxious about your beliefs is not an only Christian quality. Besides there are worse things
kelonwashington96 just leave them be. Thy ain’t forcing u
"woman could hunt geese with a rake" 😂. Absolute favorite 🤣
JackswastedlifeLP mine too!
“Tall Tallll girl... women could hunt geese with a rake” Hahahahaha oooo that one got me good lol
4smereka that’s my favorite!
Same here!!! Love her..
I loved Jackie in Rosanne never thought I would ever be able to see her in another character and yet Mary Cooper she is magic..
Metcalf is an accomplished performer of stage also. Watch her small but standout performance in Oliver Stones' JFK (1992).
Totally agree xxx
Her daughter plays the younger version of her so perfectly.
Like mother , like daughter
“I have been tellin’ you since you were four years old; it’s okay to be smarter than everybody, but you can’t go around pointin’ it out!”
“Why not?”
“BECAUSE PEOPLE DON’T LIKE IT!”
"Remember all the ass kickin's you got from the neighbor kids?"
That part killed me!
Unfortunately I missed it in this compilation, but you can find it here: th-cam.com/video/_rP-3dxckq4/w-d-xo.html
“Woman could hunt geese with a rake!”
Still not quite sure what it's supposed to mean...
thecomputerdude24 TV & Movie Clips Me neither but I laughed for 20 minutes 😂
@@thecomputerdude24TVMovieClips Me too but I'm almost positive it's either racist or sexist.
@@ALSmith-zz4yy I don't think so. It's probably some Texan saying.
It means she's tall enough to stand in a field with the other hunters and knock geese out of the sky with a rake rather than shooting at them. I apologize if y'all really understood though 😊
Laurie Metcalf and the script writer for her parts were sheer genius.
"Pulverize it with a 12-gauge shotgun full of our Lord's forgiveness" 😂 Well I know how I'm handling all minor inconveniences from now on!
You got that right.
Laurie Metcalf has done so many great roles over the years, for both movie and TV. A very underrated talent!
Aunt Jackie has always been my favorite character on Roseanne!!
Is it wrong for me to say that Mary Cooper is my favorite character from this show?
SHE WAS ALSO "ROSEANNE'S" SISTER, WITH VARIOUS JOBS OVER THE YEARS..
Not at all. She's likeable. I'm saying that as an atheist.
I always loved Sheldon’s mother. She was so funny.
Me too one of the best characters in the show
"I'm sorry, did I start that sentence with, if it pleases our highness?" Sounds just like my mother!
In the hyper, "I'm offended!" way people think today, some people don't realize she's trying to be respectful to Howard and Raj and not offend or be disrespectful to their beliefs.
Yep. Being "offended" is a scourge of XXI century
Yeah, cuz casual bigotry is sooooo cool.
@@spectralanalysis gotta love how liberals have to write a fucking thesis statement just to say "people arnt allowed to say things i dont like." just admit you think 1984 was an instruction manual not a warning and move on dude.
@@spectralanalysis She's not racists that's just how southerners talk and if that offends you you have VERY, VERY fragile skin.
If she was racist she wouldn't have included Raj, and Howard in the prayer, if she was racist she wouldn't have even asked them about their problems and TRIED to help in her own way. If she was racist she wouldn't even ALLOW her son to be near anyone of another race and if she did SHELDON himself would have picked up on those racists habits himself and be a racists, himself.
The fact EVERYONE is so fucking fragile it's fucking pathetic, they're just words. Get over them and stop being a 3 year old.
I absolutely LOVE Sheldon's mother and the interaction between them.
The casting for this show was excellent. Both Leonard's and Sheldon's Mom's couldn't have more perfect.
“His eyes came out a little thin but you can just pretend he’s Chinese” that one line from Mary cooper will always stick out in my mind 😂😂😂😂
I know a lot of people find that fun, but imagine saying something equivalent about black people's lips or Jewish noses. In other words: I have the impression that making fun of Asians' physical traits is a lot more accepted, and I find that sad.
My eye size is just fine...😉
@@EscargoTouChaud eh i find it funny and i'm asian
@@EscargoTouChaud That would have been even funnier!
@@reygatery "eh", it was a reflection upon relativity in ethnic stereotyping and racist slurs, not a claim that no Asian would find it funny.
"...tall, tall girl, could hunt geese with a rake." 😂😂
Gosh ahaha, she's like the sweetest most unpolitically correct person 😂. Such a sweetheart haha
I love how the woman has no filter but if you pay attention, she's completely openminded to other people's believes.
She is open to others' beliefs, definitely.
"His eyes came out a little thin but you can just pretend he's Chinese." Jiminy crickets.😅
mamabear.970 that’s lowkey cute tho
@@danatedawg1018 Aint gotta tell me I'm half Korean haha.
I freaking love her. Favourite character in the series
"Jewish or regular?" 😂😂😂😭😭😭😭😭
