We recently flew United Airlines for the first time from Vancouver to San Francisco and were incredibly impressed with their App. Couldn’t believe how comprehensive it was!
Finally an accurate review of this cabin. I fly it 10-12 times a year and you couldn’t have been more spot on about everything in this video. Every time people find out I mainly fly united they think I get harassed on board and have a horrible experience, but that seat is some of the best sleep I’ve ever had while travelling, and as long as you respect the crew you’ll always get treated well. Even more so, with the awful food, when they forgot to pack my plant based meal they immediately offered a $400 united voucher, so now I’m always hoping they forget the pre-selected meal haha. Awesome video, keep it up!
They forgot my vegetarian meal once. I asked if they had one of the cheese plates in the back and was willing to pay the $10 for it because I was starving. They had them but told me they were reserved for coach. ☠️
One thing I miss about United (and formerly Continental) business class experience was how they used to serve food. They used to bring carts for each course (except main) and serve your salad/dessert from that. I remember getting so excited for the sundae cart to make my ice cream. Before COVID they had a cake tray as well. They stopped all that with COVID and never brought it back :(
I fly a lot Middle East to east coast US, Polaris is my top choice. I also usually find the best prices compared to others. I avoid Lufthansa at all costs (until new seats)
Wait Dan. Regarding EWR. I'm retired, but for many years I was based there (pilot so yeah I'm legacy Continental). Newark Airport can operate smoothly at the levels scheduled EXCEPT for 3 main complications: Weather, ATC and the proximity of LGA and JFK. The last two are related because it is VERY complex airspace in that region. Adding that the FAA is terribly understaffed? ATC can slow things down based on experience levels. It is beyond the scope of the TH-cam comments to thoroughly explain this, and it is easier for pilots to grasp. Not throwing shade, but youre an AvGeek and shoukd understand.
@@Gehtdoch2024 What is weird - I have had great timing with Domestic Flights out of Newark. Out of 15 years - not major disrupted flight. (I fly two-three times a month).... HOWEVER ITS ALL MY INTERNATIONAL FLIGHTS that seem to have been a hot mess express with United and Newark Airport. June to September - Three United International flights from EWR / FRA - one delayed two hours, one diverted to a non-international airport (we sat for 6 hours in Albany), and one canceled in Frankfurt. . PS - @timduggan1461 --- I am a Continental Legacy Customer... lol. I used to fly to California to school on the Continental Student Passes!!!!
@@Gehtdoch2024 Compared to LGA or JF""K, I''ll take Newark. Far more reliable than the other NYC area airports, and much nicer Terminal. It's also super easy and fast to get in and out of the city with the best public transit options.
We flew United to Croatia from Houston in 2019, right before Covid, and we splurged on Polaris seats. It was a great experience. Lounge was amazing, the shower facilities luxurious, and the onboard service, seat and meals outstanding. I'd heard United was downgrading some aspects of Polaris a year or two ago. Not sure what happened there, but your trip looks pretty comparable to ours, Dan. United really is the best non-Asian or ME airline out there.
A lot of people would argue that Delta is better, which I agree with when it comes to shorter domestic flights. However, for much longer domestic/international flights, United really takes the crown.
I recently flew the same route in early September. I had a very good experience and the amenity kit was a fanny pack, which I find more useable than previous containers. I was also given a pair of slippers. However the Polaris lounge was so crowded that I left as soon as I saw no seats, and the buffet was struggling to keep up. I ended up in the club lounge which was so much better. Once I arrived into Heathrow, I tried out the arrivals lounge. What a great idea! I had a shower, was offered to iron my clothes ( I passed ) and then had a nice sit down breakfast while I waited for rush hour to end and headed onward to the city.
We flew Polaris business last week, it was our first ever time flying business class. I wish i had known that the armrest folded down and that i could get a mattress pad. I too loved the entertainment selection but chose movies. I have to disagree with you about the oatmeal. I thought it was amazing maybe the best oatmeal I've ever had, but i love fruit in my oatmeal. Service was definitely inconsistent. On our way out the flight attendants were friendly, relaxed, and professional, on the way back they were tense, nervous, and flustered. Their obvious discomfort made me nervous.
Just flew Polaris from TLV. Great experience. The seat was better than expected and I discovered the slot to increase seat size. I also love the option to add movies and tv shows to my list of favorites. When it comes to watching the next movie, it’s an easy option.
The U.S. big 3 hard products are pretty solid but they have a long way to go to get the soft products up to scratch, particularly Delta One international, in my opinion.
I'd say other than in flight catering being hit or miss, UA does a great job with soft product- at least until they change the bedding as they've proposed. The Saks Fifth Ave bedding is incredible as is the gel cooling pillow and regular pillow.
Last Thursday I flew on a flight from IAD to LAX. I was pleasantly surprised to be on the new Dreamliner. The plane had come from Cape Town. For a premium economy seat 21D I felt like I was in first class. It was the most pleasurable experience for a direct flight to LAX.
Thanks for a great video review of the United 777-200. I actually don't think your opinion is controversial at all, I completely agree that UA, AA, and DL are better than European and most other foreign carriers. I am perhaps a bit different that most airline enthousiasts because I am a pilot and I focus more on the quality of the aircraft, the maintenance, and the overall operations of an airline than I do on the in flight service product. Additionally, I do believe that UA, AA, and DL are steadily imporoving the quality of their cabins, food and beverage, and in flight service. I can honestly say that I would rather fly UA, AA, or DL than a European airline in business class. BTW I liked your comment about the salad dressing. Personally, I would have eaten the salad without any dressing, as I am particular about those things. I liked your footage about EWR airport terminal C, as well as how you included lovely pictures of past experiences flying CO. I look forward to being at EWR terminal C for a United Polaris flight in a couple of days!
Dan, I've really enjoyed your videos the past few months and thanks for giving UAL a little love. You are right, United has gotten a lot better and is better than most airlines around the world. Polaris seats are generally great, food average at best, but the real make or break part of the experience is the cabin crew. A good cabin crew that is enthusiastic, helpful (like finding you that amenity kit....wish I had seen this two weeks earlier), and honest really is the difference between an average trip and a memorable one. I also find that everything is just a little bit better on the 787 (maybe because of the lighting?), particularly the 787-10. I'm not sure if this is a rule or just my dumb luck. As for the food, on a recent -10 flight from Frankfurt I had a really good arrival meal (I skipped the departure meal) and when I told the FA that she was correct when she said I made a good choice when I ordered, we ended up having a discussion about the food onboard UAL. The long and short of it, the FA mentioned that the cabin crews were generally embarrassed to serve some of the offerings of late and to complete those surveys if you get them because UAL listens. Apparently the recent improvements to meal service was in direct response to complaints. Now I don't have too much hope that Polaris 2.0 will be an improved product other than the fully enclosed pod, but hopefully they continue the upswing in the food and beverage department. I'll also say that along the lines of a good cabin crew, I recently had a fairly disappointing trip on a Singapore A350 as they seemed to be mostly robotic in their duties. Completely opposite were two extraordinary flights on a Lufthansa 747-400 and -8 Upper Decks because the FAs, purser, and one Captain were truly amazing. BTW, the hate towards Mr. Kirby for taking a private jet is really shorted sighted by the media. During a summer that had a lot of cancellations and ATC disruptions, it isn't the worst thing to happen if he absolutely had to be to a meeting and at the same time freed up a seat to those that may have been stuck for a day or two. When you make the kind of money that Fortune 500 CEOs make, their productivity compared to cost of using a private jet is very tangible. It's reported that Mr. Kirby makes over $16M per year. For a 50 hour work week 50 weeks of the year, he makes $6,400 an hour. So every hour of productivity lost is more or equal to what a private jet costs per hour. My two cents anyway. Blue Skies
Just flew United Polaris from SFO to MEL, a 15 hour flight and I thought your review was spot on except for the Polaris lounge. Our flight left just before midnight and after connecting from Las Vegas we got to the lounge just before 10.00pm. The lounge shut at 10.30pm and when we got there the restaurant was closed, the buffet was messy and full of empty plates and the bar staff were quite aloof and dismissive. We were kicked out at 10.30pm to wander the terminal for an hour before our boarding. I get that they publish that the lounge shuts at that time but if you have scheduled flights leaving late at night, surely you should stay open to service those passengers as well as you would do at midday? I was looking forward to the restaurant and also taking a shower before my flight as it had already been a long day before we got to SFO. Sadly I got neither and instead got a one star lounge experience instead.
I just flew Polaris for the first time, flying dc Dulles to Tokyo Haneda. I was really impressed, actually! The lounge was beautiful (though I was shocked there was only one lounge - it was so far from my gate!) I was also there during the morning and it was quite blissful. I fly ana a lot and their lounges are always a hell scape because they are so crowded, no matter the time of day. The crew was also very attentive and very kind. I appreciated that they were just always there - I have been on flights were they just totally disappear for hours on end. The only issue was that the foot cubby was really uncomfortable. I couldn’t really move around or sleep with my knees bent. Like you said, I also found the privacy amazing. I love Ana’s the room the most but because they have seats facing backwards, you get a lot of awkward eye contact lol. And yes, the entertainment options are amazing! If I fly to the us again, I might actually choose united lol
The review here is spot on - The app/tech is amazing.... Bedding is great, IFE is amazing, but man...... the catering has to get better. It's one of the main reasons I would only splurge on a Polaris seat if it's more than 9 hours and I need sleep. Otherwise, I go with Premium Economy just because you don't get good food in Polaris. I flew from Sao Paulo, and the breakfast crepes looked like a pile of vomit.....
I’m flying the longest United flight soon, SFO to Singapore, and I’ve got just enough miles (+about $300) to get a Polaris seat one way. The most luxurious thing I’ve had before this is first class from San Diego to Chicago domestic. Regardless of anything, I’m excited!😎
I feel the same about United vs European carriers, 5-10 years ago I always picked Euro carriers over US carriers. But now many Euro biz seats are inferior to Polaris and their service has gone downhill overall. The only thing some of them have going for them is the food. United's crew is hit or miss and the food is usually crap but I'd rather get the better seat when it comes down to it. If United would up their game with the food they could be more competitive.
Given that all passengers on an aircraft arrive at the destination at the same time, in the same place, for a premium cabin passenger to pay 5 to 10 times the fare as an economy passenger, the airline must return a value in the form of space, service, entertainment, seat/bed comfort and food quality. If any of those suffer, the whole thing quickly becomes a waste of money. The Asian and Middle Eastern carriers have set the bar high, so western carriers are in a hole they most likely won't climb out of. That said, the US carriers are making strides, but I think they're reaching their zenith and won't go much higher. The reason for that is that western cabin crews don't have near the hospitality skills as the Asian and Middle Eastern crews.
I flew United last month and I was shocked at how much I enjoyed the experience. Their takeoff video is cute. The crew was so friendly. I think they put in work to earn consumer trust after the David Dao incident.
I work in corporate travel in the UK and we get incredible fares for United, sometimes 4-5000GBP less than BA, but you just can't sell it. People would rather spend that extra to avoid United, so it's nice to see some positives
I flew United business class from San Francisco to Tokyo last year. It was incredibly good. My flight attendant greeted me by name and was there for me every second of the incredibly long flight. The food was pretty good, unlike what you had that did look awful. all And all I would definitely fly United business again.
16:05 don't fully agree to your point. I have flown SkyTeam a lot and could easily say Delta does a better job in a few aspects than Air France, but I had better experience with KLM & Virgin Atlantic than Delta. Though I completely agree to your point that American carriers have improved over time...
Dan, thanks for all of your videos. I really enjoy watching them. I really like United’s Polaris seat because of the comfort and privacy(amazing how much without a door). The ability to lower the armrest widens your space only a little but it makes such a difference when sleeping on a long flight. Last year we flew on some Star Alliance carriers in business and the Polaris seat is better than Air Canada, Lufthansa, and Swiss Air. This year we flew on ANA, and their seats on the A380 and 787 have the least amount of privacy in my opinion. It feels like you can be seen by everyone.
Great video. I am very familiar with this product and will be on the same flight you took in 10 days. I agree with everything you said about UAL's Polaris class. It's a super comfortable ride to wherever I'm heading with abysmal food. I'm 1K so am allowed to pre-board, but do think UAL should allow Polaris/Business/First passengers to board first like other airlines do; there always seems to be a whole lot of folks with Group 1 assignments.
I just flew United Polaris 767 from Geneva to DC and absolutely loved it! It was only my second business class flight ever, and I liked it better than my first just 4 days before on Aur France.
@@jerryuma Just because a plane is old how is it bad? The 767s are definitely getting up their in age but they provide a lot of capacity for United's long haul operations and are pretty comfortable to fly in.
@@Joe-yz3uf I think in most cases yes. Because the older the plane, the less safe it might be. Also the seats, interior, will age over time and will not be as nice as newer planes like a 777.
@@jerryuma United retrofitted the same seating onto a large majority of its widebody aircraft a few years ago and the only real difference 767 and 777 seats are that the 767 has less seats in a row. The United 777-200/200ER fleet also really isn't that much newer compared to the 767-300ER fleet and 767-400ERs are bit newer then a good number of United's 777 fleet. I mean can you name a United 767 that was proven to be less safe then a 777-200 that United received only a couple of years later?
Fab video as always! I’ve only flown UAL on their domestic hops on the 757 and 737 and absolutely loved them! I totally agree with the Europe comparison on short haul especially. IFE, wifi, snacks on a 2 hour domestic flight? Yes please!
Nice review. Unfortunately the Polaris seats are awful for tall people. Anybody over 6feet its terribly uncomfortable. Not enough space for feet and laying on your side is impossible. AA and BA have the far better seats for anybody tall on the LHR route
Stumbled onto your video, I'm from Scotland and I actually just flew home from Newark yesterday. I wasn't in business, I was in premium economy but we had to board by going through business class... I'm by no means an expert, that was my first time flying transatlanic but I was kinda underwhelmed as I walked through business. Okay they had extra privacy from the person beside them and most likely more leg room but it felt kinda meh? There was also a line for the regular bathroom at one point in the flight and the cabin crew let us use the business toilet and I duno if I had paid a lot more for specifically business i'd be a little mad that people were trapsing through off and on throughout. The dividing curtain was also entirely unhooked so we could see right into business 😂. I'd like to one day fly business, it's on my bucket list but if I had saved for that, i'd be lowkey annoyed. I will say the lounge looks nice, I walked past that 😅. But other than that in economy we got the same films etc.
I used to be 1K in United for a decade. I used also to love United, but since they butchered Mileage plus, I opened my eyes. To attain a Status with them is significantly more difficult than with other airlines from Europe, Middle East or Asia. Flying United is mor expensive in general than other airlines and their product is well behind of European, Middle Eastern or Asian Airlines, so, yes, I fly other airlines and the balance overwhelmly positive.
Same - but on some routes (back to the US especially), they can't be beat, and it's worth checking out the newsletters and forums to find out which they are.
For those that cant sleep in a warm cabin, United business on long hauls is the way to go. Doesnt matter how much nicer other carriers' products are if you land exhausted from lack of sleep. The personal air vents are also so rare in business with other carriers these days. Ive flown plenty of foreign carriers in business/first and its a pain asking them to lower the cabin temp all the time... sometimes to no avail.
Don’t lies, the comments that you made is ignorant, you absolutely didn’t fly any other airline long haul business class, especially the Asian Airliners.
I'm happy to hear you had a good experience flying Polaris class on United. I've been so used to you speaking in not so glowing terms about US carriers in general. I hope they listen to content creators like you to help them mend their ways. Perhaps United has. I flew from JFK on business / 1st class with CONDOR to Frankfort. Have you? I had a great experience.
EWR is such an embarassment of an airport. ATC has issues moving traffic in and out on a normal ops day. Add a little rain? Entire airport and all airline operations meltdown. United just opened the largest lounge in DEN, should check it out sometime!
I just flew United for the first time in both domestic economy plus and domestic first class from Alaska to North Carolina and back. I normally fly either Delta or Alaska, and honestly I was super impressed with United. The aircraft were newer, the seats were better, and the app was hands down the best. I particularly loved the real time updates on my lock screen and the text I got when the flight began boarding. I haven't ever had the lie-flat business class option though. That looks nice.
United is primarily my first choice of airlines due to their main hub location but I agree totally about the food. I also eat at the lounge and pick up snacks there before the flight. I've only come across a few unsavory attendants otherwise, everyone has been very kind. Love their app too! I get a bit bummed out when I fly other airlines and I have to hunt down information on flights.
Hi Dan from NYC! I watch all your videos, but this is the only one I felt inclined to comment on. Being a half American half British girl living in New York City I am very familiar with international and US carriers. This video showcase, a bit too much “American Airlines” or ‘American airports”. I live in downtown New York City, and always travel through JFK but a recent flight to Los Angeles had me leaving from Newark and boy was I surprised! JetBlue was my flight, and the new renovated terminal was all high-tech, easy to access, TSA was smooth sailing. It will now be my go to for any departure, both international and international. Have you been to CDG recently or other European airports? Those are dumpy. Newark airport is certainly not anywhere near that. Have you flown on the JetBlue flight New York to London in mint? That is a flight you should take and you will be blown away by the food/service. I will NEVER FLY UNITED AIRLINES, after a bad experience with their flight attendants, and no TVs on a flight, I am amazed that people are so committed to that airline & being employee owned, they relax on their standards. I can’t believe the meal that was brought out to you, typical for United. Please don’t bash too much on US carriers and airports next time, although I do agree with United comments.
I’ve seen 2 of your vlogs now..very informative, unbiased and interesting. Going on an 82 day cruise in Dec…flying IAH to DXB on Emirates Prem Econ.returning from Tokyo to Tapei to Houston IAH on Eva Air Business…any thoughts? My traveling companion is Flying back from Tokyo to Dubai to San Paulo,Brazil on Emirates Economy….She will appreciate the A388….your vlog really confirmed I made the right call.😎
The meals look like Economy Class or Cafeteria meals. Flew on Etihad earlier this year - presentation was a different story. The snacks look like cheap junk food, too.
I have flown 4 lengthy trans Pacific & trans Atlantic trips with United in economy & I was very happy with them. I know many will disagree with me but I am only expecting safe travel that is not too uncomfortable - I tell myself it's usually less than 12 hours or so & I'm soon going to arrive at my destination. I don't sleep so well but do rest (watch a lot of movies!) & I bring plenty of snacks I enjoy. When I see the state of the business class cabin on exiting the plane I think it's left messier than economy & wonder if the cabin crew notice this. Also I feel glad I didn't spend many thousands on the flight!
I got upgraded to business class on a United flight from Brussels to Chicago. It was fantastic, because I was recovering from Covid and running on about 4 hours of sleep (not to mention exhausted and frustrated from being forced to stand in lines at the airport for nearly two hours even though I had just flown in from Germany). I didn't even know I was in business and walked the wrong direction when I boarded. Needless to say, business class was a treat. The only time I have ever gotten solid sleep on a plane. And the flight attendants were so nice to an obviously dazed and confused economy class grad student. I was happy with my meal even though I ended up with my second choice. Not gourmet, but enjoyable.
I liked your comment about removing a panel so you can see/chat with your travelling companion. My biggest hate about any airlines business class, that I've looked into that service AKL, is the lack of seating for couples that don't want to be isolated from each other.
UA Polaris middle seats have the option to sit close together or put a partition up in every other middle row. It's only if you both want window seats that it is an issue. But since it is business class (not leisure) they cater a lot to business people who don't want to be near others.
My biggest issues with Polaris, the foot area on the beds narrows too much, they need to add about 2 - 4 inches in width, ANA has this pretty much nailed. A few other tweaks and Polaris could be world class.
American is definitely better than this crap, AA doesn’t give out disgusting food that makes me sick or has racist staff yelling at me! Heck, I’d rather fly frontier than united
12:06 I think you are spot on, I would go out of my way to fly an east asian carrier or one of the ME3 over a U.S. airline but I would not go out of my way to fly a European airline over delta or united
My family has been flying United in business class since the DC-8. Having been on it on medium to long haul flights many times I have to say it is by far the absolute best experiences I have had on any US carrier. I still remember when I was 6, I was in a business class seat by myself on a 767, and the crew treated me like I was their own son. I felt like royalty (as it was my first time in a lie-flat seat). Great job, United!
I can comfirm united polaris is fantastic and you can fly it cheap. On check in day pay an extra 500~1000 bucks depending on your route. Food, seat, cabin everything is great.
I've always been afraid of trying United from Sydney considering the huge cost but this has put my mind at ease. I'd still prefer to fly Oman Air to LA from Sydney but I don't think that going to happen anytime soon
Flew United Polaris SFO to SYD 777-300ER, the best sleep I’ve had in the air, a better seat and main meal than Qantas. My only complaint was the united crew wasn’t proactive in service.
Copilot doesnt work. im from europe and i did the survey and put in my info then it returned an error 'Something went wrong on our end!' sad, seemed interesting.
United Airlines is one of those airlines I avoid like the plague/covid. Thank you for reducing my FOMO on slightly cheaper flights. I mainly fly Delta & Alaska and will likely continue to do so.
Polaris lounge in SFO has taken a huge nose dive. Check the Flyertalk threads. Often out of food, 1h+ waits to get into the restaurant, no seats. The experience in EWR in AM is not a representative experience.
We are planning on flying to England in June, we are going to fly out from Denver to Heathrow, and trying to decide if we want to do United Polaris, or coach…. The price difference is huge between the two, but I’m sure doing Polaris it is well worth it, thanks for your video!🤗
"5hrs and 71 mins" 😂 Reminds me of a colleague who had an old 18 inch woodworking ruler. He would give measurements like "2 feet 15 and a half inches" 🙄
I'm an American living in Australia, and took United Business Polaris back to Australia in January - it was delightful. I was able to sleep for a whole 7 hours and was actually ready to work the same day I arrived. My only disappointment was they ran out of pyjamas before they got to my seat
Unbelievable for the price-no French champagne and crap food -especially long haul to Europe! That’s why I will not choose a US airline to fly long haul and also not Lufthansa or BA anymore. Extortionate prices for their budget cuts! Completely agree re Qatar/Emirates/Etihad and of course , the Asian creme de La creme-SQ, CX. Obviously different routing but I travel quite a lot.
Great video but I don’t really get how you consider this a superior experience than Air France, especially now that introduced their brand new business class on this exact route (except CDG instead of LHR ofc)
the 2 airlines I tend to take the most are Delta and United. Delta due to my dad working for them and them having a hub where I live and their just beauties but United certainly is great too. We've never had any issue with them either so idk why some do either. They've always been great to my family and I hell my dad's college best friend works for United. We didn't really fly united much at first or at least not as much as delta but once the merger with continental happened in 2010, we started to fly them more often due to their increased brand and increased travel options with more destinations and improved modern technology that got provided for customers as a result. We didn't really fly United much before the 2010 merger w continental like said above mainly cause it wasn't as available and it wasn't as reliable when going to certain destinations.
"Is this my beige flag- me liking United?" I laughed out loud for real 😅 "It's giving Eastern European." Your snarkiness and sarcasm were on fire in this episode, it makes me love you even more, lol
Just one tip: your eccentric phase should be in a slower tempo (you should resist the weight). Then your muscle growth will be bigger. Bench press (think about lowering the bar, then pushing, and lowering the bar). Bonus tip: breathing out when you push the bar, or curl the dumbbell, breathing in (slower) when you lower your bar or dumbbell. Best wishes!
I’m bitter with Delta after changing its medallion program. I’m considering switching and by this review United beats American? What’s your opinion? I mainly fly domestic. I’d love your input
You know, United economy class is decent across the Atlantic too. Seats have great recline, the IFE is awesome, the food on my flight at least was pretty good (although it was catered out of CDG), and the 767 is an awesome airplane to fly long haul with its 2-3-2 layout. Not a perfect airline by any means but still a decent choice, and they are far better than they used to be.
Another great video! I was expecting a terrible review, but if the only issue is Polaris’ onboard food, I can overlook that for all the other great features.
What other great features? The 60-seat cabin? The flight attendants huddling in the galley playing with their phones? The sick feeling you experience when you stop to ponder that the other 59 people in the cabin are on upgrades? The cheap meals served on a single tray on an international business class flight?
@@jamesmoninger1982Considering that your paying much less than what you would be on buisness class emirates, or any airline with a full suite, United’s buisness class is very very good. Plus, the seats are amazing, and the privacy is good enough. I’ve been on them multiple times.
Dan, I think United has been giving Air Canada a run for the North American #1 spot! Delta has too big of a range in products to compete with UA. Delta suites..:is excellent, but not readily available as Polaris on United’s premium product.
I flew United Polaris in both a 787-10 (Athens - Newark in SEAT 8A!) and a 777-222 (EWR - LAX) last week. The amenities pack is now a Therabody gray fanny pack (international) and a sad little blue Asutra pouch for domestic. My chief complaint is the FOOD. It was awful. I did sleep okay but the interactive map wasn’t working on either flight. Last year I flew Turkish Airlines LAX - Istanbul and the service was fabulous, I highly recommend.
I used to be a United captive when I lived in the SF Bay Area and back in the 1990s Lufthansa was preferable, especially in their first class cabin. But nowadays.... I'm OK with being a prisoner of United (being a million-mile plus flyer I milk the few privileges that grants me) as the Euro carriers have gone downhill. British Airways is, frankly, appalling and its lounges are... mostly closed when you need them. Apparently people only arrive at LHR between 7am and noon. United's lounges, however are open more than they are closed, which is rather important when you get off a long-haul flight and need to shower & change your clothes.

Hey Dan, I was wondering when you will or if you will be posting a SWISS review.
please do a video on your top 5 flight experiences! and top 5 worst
Literally gasped when you said you liked the seat more than Q suite🤣
ppppppp🔴
the food in polaris lounge wasn't great, either. Very crowded, no announcements,
We recently flew United Airlines for the first time from Vancouver to San Francisco and were incredibly impressed with their App. Couldn’t believe how comprehensive it was!
I agree the United app has impressive functionality and allows for quick booking and canceling of flights among other things.
agreed. It's worlds better than almost any other airline app I've used. Everything is just so practically laid out and easy to use
United has the best app ever!
Just applied for a job with United so I’m not gonna give my opinion right now 💀
Fr bro I just landed a job as an aircraft engineer for United so I’m keeping my mouth shut
Which position I was gonna apply United as well
good luck!
I just landed a job as a pilot for united so I'll keep my mouth shut
same 😂
Delta will always have my heart but United is not the worst option. American Airlines is truly horrific.
American is definitely better
American is HELL
Delta's depreciating loyalty program is too depressing for me to consider flying them.
110% true
Will agree as long as Delta retires their aged 767…
Finally an accurate review of this cabin. I fly it 10-12 times a year and you couldn’t have been more spot on about everything in this video.
Every time people find out I mainly fly united they think I get harassed on board and have a horrible experience, but that seat is some of the best sleep I’ve ever had while travelling, and as long as you respect the crew you’ll always get treated well.
Even more so, with the awful food, when they forgot to pack my plant based meal they immediately offered a $400 united voucher, so now I’m always hoping they forget the pre-selected meal haha.
Awesome video, keep it up!
Thank you for choosing to eat a plant-based diet
Damn 12 times a year in J should just about make your GS. United will bend over backwards for you at that point.
Enjoy being a peasant.
They stopped all that with COVID and never brought it back :(
I flew LAX to TOKYO and had the sundae cart just in February. So I don’t know if that’s fully accurate
They have the dessert cart.
@@CruisnChris Weird. I was flying business a month ago to London and they didn't have it🤔
I fly a lot Middle East to east coast US, Polaris is my top choice. I also usually find the best prices compared to others. I avoid Lufthansa at all costs (until new seats)
Yea United connects tlv to most parts of the us it’s amazing
When flying to the Middle East, I would rather fly Emirates, Etihad or Qatar Airways than US carriers
I am a pilot too. Newark is the worst. By far. If you want a reliable connection don’t buy a ticket through EWR
This. New York airspace is rough the continental pilot is right!!
Thanks! I ❤ Dan!! He has great hair!!❤❤
Dan, I know you order special meals on your flights, but can you also show us the standard fare as well?
it makes his thinkings on the catering irrelevant pretty much yeah
Can confirm the standard fare on Polaris is just as revolting as the vegan meal.
How could he without harassing some other random passenger for their food?
Your quinoa was also served in economy on the B777-200er from HNL to DEN. It was cold and the chicken was a rock lol.
Last Thursday I flew on a flight from IAD to LAX. I was pleasantly surprised to be on the new Dreamliner. The plane had come from Cape Town. For a premium economy seat 21D I felt like I was in first class. It was the most pleasurable experience for a direct flight to LAX.
Clicked faster than Dan can upload
😂😂😂😂
Duh he takes a week to upload.
Blue Skies
You know it’s a good day when Dan uploads a video🗣️🗣️🔥
It's a question of work culture and mentality, not skills.
I have always loved United Business and First Class.
I love your opinions on these services! Thank you Dan!! I hope you may fly everywhere you wish!!
Lovely review NSD. Keep up the great work!!
I was laughing for 10 minutes. Not the Boston tea party comment 😂😂😂
Next time you go to Genova bring me the real Pesto!!!!! can't find good Pesto in USA..... Forza Inter!!!!!
767 is old plane. It is very bad.
Same - but on some routes (back to the US especially), they can't be beat, and it's worth checking out the newsletters and forums to find out which they are.
i got a literal heart attack when he said the seat was better than q suite
Concur! It’s nice!!!
How could the food look so bad...especially for an Asian seeing this after flying Singapore airline, it's just not quite edible.
Big 3 isnt themselves anymore.
But is the consumers quest for 9$ seat & the airlines un-bundling to blame?
On a 9am flight I imagine that almost everyone is craving a doughnut. Providing that is awesome.
The sundae cart in Polaris is sooooo fun! I love their sundae.
How many people with compromised immune systems you unalived? Traveling with Covid in airports hmmmm, that’s why I hate despise can’t stand people
I liked your comment about removing a panel so you can see/chat with your travelling companion.
@NonstopDan in lounges how do you know the difference between what's included and what you have to pay for?,
I've always been afraid of trying United from Sydney considering the huge cost but this has put my mind at ease.
Another great vid with the usual top-flight, entertaining commentary! Thank you! 😃👍
those are some awesome suitcases where the link to em?
The Boston Tea Party had me crying😂😂
I love your Videos Dan! Keep it up! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
the United Gold Flyer lounge in SFO served me crappy red wine in a plastic cup...
Awesome content as always.
The face you made with the oatmeal reminds me of my last airplane meal. Two or three bites and I was done.
We are planning on flying to England in June, we are going to fly out from Denver to Heathrow, and trying to decide if we want to do United Polaris, or coach…. The price difference is huge between the two, but I’m sure doing Polaris it is well worth it, thanks for your video!🤗
Awesome job dan with the air plan review thumb up
"5hrs and 71 mins" 😂
Reminds me of a colleague who had an old 18 inch woodworking ruler.
We flew United Polaris a couple of months ago from Tel Aviv to Chicago. It was a lovely experience and I got 6 hours of sleep on the way home!
Emirates premium economy review please, you will enjoy and it will be useful(you are the only honest one who can give a good review)
10:45 Dan, you're a menace!! HAHAH!!!
Not my input you asked for but yes, United for sure beats AA. Of course Also going to depend on which airline’s hubs you’re using most often.
Perfect timing, I’m just about to board the SFO-HKG flight. Polaris lounge in SFO is excellent. I wish you review the restaurant as well as the buffet
A delta review pls!!! ❤
UA Premium Economy is in my view a better product than Polaris Business.
That was the PW 777. The GE ones do not have air vents :(
"I have a personal trainer that follows me LITERALLY wherever I go... expect, he doesn't". Duh.
Lol Yass the Nella Rose clip. "ArE yOu NoT eMbArRaSsEd"
As a former flight attendant, it looks like they accidentally served you breakfast for dinner.
Well done video. Love your honesty, and the food definitely does not look appealing at all.
