My 2018 F-150 SC had this same leak shortly after purchasing new. Unfortunately the dealership here couldn't find anything. When I started to troubleshoot this one my own I found that the passenger side cab vent wasn't seated correctly. I could have sworn that was the issue but I still had water getting into the cab. I eventually pulled everything down and sprayed the back window with water. Viola there there it was. It was dripping just like your video shows. Fortunately for me the back window assembly was replaced under warranty. I've had no issues since. Great video. Thanks for what you do! -Eric
2019 F250 Super Duty, for me it looks like its the right side vent that the tab doesn't hold the vent box in place. I'm elated that the leaks been found. The vent was leaning forward without the tabs gripping the back wall. FORD Pffff........ I owe ya's a lunch. Thanks man great tutorial.👍
My 19' had water leaks as well.I had the same issues,ac drain elbow, and my main leak was the passenger side rear cabin pressure vent.Luckily repaired under extended warranty,Ford PremiumCare. I was so disappointed, but thankfully my dealer fixed me up.Sad when you pay premium price for these vehicles but it is what is.I needed to have complete carpet and soundproofing material replaced
I had a 2019 F150 that had the AC leak and also had a leak in the rear passenger door. After taking it in more than once, the tech said I should get an extended warranty. Beautiful truck, but I don’t need a rolling aquarium. Fortunately, it was worth way more than I paid for it. I got rid of it. I’ve been buying Fords for fifty years and bought my first F150 in 1999. No more. I still have a 2003 that I bought new. A beautiful truck. Too bad they forgot how to make them. Bye!
I’ve owned four Ford Trucks a ‘77 F100 daily driver for 27 years, ‘97 ,’08 and 2012 F150. The ‘77 was the best and the 2012 was the worst and last Ford. Currently in the market for nice pre ‘95 Ford truck.
This reason I got rid of my 150 there no pride on in manufacturing anymore through it together and most of the time the customer has to pay for it my valves mushroomed 3.5 l at 72000 miles they replaced driver side head at 119k passenger side was going out took it to ford and traded it for a ram
This is giving me ptsd. I spent the spring tearing out the interior of my 2010 f150. I had pretty much all the leaks you described. Also the doors were misaligned and letting water in. Anyway my trucks name is silicone sam.
I get the feeling that the bulk of Ford’s retail customers gradually evolved into the “I’m going to drive a brand new vehicle every 3 years” type, and the vehicles being manufactured have been reflecting this. Unfortunately…with the prices of new vehicles, time it takes to receive vehicles, as well as the ongoing parts shortages…owners are now more likely to own their vehicles longer than before, so I can definitely see customers beginning to demand longer lasting vehicles in the future, or face losing some of their long time customers, and even lose out on new customers. Not trying brand biased here…but a big part of the reason Toyota has their reputation for reliability and longevity, and why they are slower to release new models has been precisely because the majority of their customers were buying them on the premise of longevity, and not because they were the latest and greatest offering.
We just had heavy rain last weekend. Tuesday morning I opened my driver's side door and was immediately hit with a rotten smell. I found my passenger front side floorboard was drenched. I do have the sunroof.
I had a 2005 ford ranger edge and the 3rd brake light leaked and I had to clean the drain holes for the back sliding glass. It was a little tricky to find.
Holly Catfish Andy????? Rich, Are they Doing things "Different" On the Newer TRUCKS like the 2021/22 Model Years? Or Do us Owners need to Keep an eye out for "WET CARPET'S/Floors??? That really sucks to have Floor's Rotting away right under your feet on "Newer Vehicle's" like that. GREAT Information for we Owner's to be aware of.
Wow! I have the exact same issue! I've taken my truck to Jerry's Ford twice now and still have the issues. First time, they did a water leak test and couldn't find anything. Second time, they found water leaking into the rear glass. They removed the rear glass and re-sealed it and had to replace the carpet. 1600 bucks spent and I am still experiencing the water leak issue. I have contacted Jerry's Ford and asked to speak with their Service Department manager because this is ridiculous! The ONLY reason I have not sold this truck is because I enjoy no car note.
Mine just started doing this as well, what an absolute junk design. Going to have it replaced with a non slider, non defrost glass. Live in FL and have AC running most of the time. No need for defrost and some were shattering when defrost was on. Already did the elbow on the condensate drain. So done with water leaks ...
At first I thought you were doing some weird zoom in zoom out effect in your tech talk. Then I realized you were just sittin in the ole' man chair rockin' back and forth.
That fiber board that needs removed when the oil is changed. My guy would just remove 2 bolts and let it swing. Then it finally broke and he ask if I wanted it removed or zip tied. I told him to remove it and put it in the back. It stared getting the floor wet as we went on a two week vacation. I'm going to use some aluminium and put it back on. How many others started leaking after they took this off.
It's the little things that make the difference between a technician and a parts canon operator. My rear sliders leak if I don't clean out the drain slots... irrelevant to this being 45 years old. But the little things... Take care
So, no way to fix the window leak unless the whole rear assembly is replaced. Hopefully the 21s and newer have all the bs water leaks figured out. Might be about time to punt the 2020.
@@FordBossMe so I endedup fixing the water leak issue without replacing the window. I ended up taking out the metal track that the middle window slides into along with the window and sealed all the cracks in the plastic track rail thats of plastic attached to the window (there were many cracks in it that caused the water leaking.. you can only see the cracks if you remove the little middle window along with the metal track that the little window goes back and forth into.
I've now proved my 21 has a water leak. First visible area is coming off the plastic trim cover over the lane keeping camera assembly it runs down to the mirror. Dam.
I seen a video of someone pressurizing their cabin by covering the back air-release vents and then pouring soapy water in areas on the outside to see if it bubbles. Is this a good/safe method? Can the pressure in the cab damage other seals?
Hey Rich, can you post the TSB for the drain elbow? What years is this for on the F150? I don't have a problem with my AC draining, but I'd like to take a proactive approach to make sure this doesn't happen. Thanks.
Remind me tomorrow man I have been busy all day today I already have this video with this elbow in the library somewhere I don't remember the name of it but it's in the library I've shown people how to do it
@@FordBossMe Hi Rich, I tried searching you library for the TSB but could not find it. Can you please send me the TSB that adds the elbow to the drain of the A/C? Thank you, sir.

You have to also take into consideration the support mechanisms that bolt to the floor that cause some rusting as well like the brackets that hold up to dash the water will get on those brackets and rot on the brackets and then it'll start causing resting and corrosion issues

That's a great find Rich, Ford better step up the build quality.

Come on Ford! Ford Engineering take Note! You can build them Better!
I would say if the f150’s have these issues the 250’s and 350’s will as well. Basically the same build

You know I'm not very familiar with the older ones and their nuances
You mentioned in the video that the water could cause the floors to rust. Aren’t the F150’s all aluminum?
The floor is stamped steel usually to support the weight of people & cargo. Thin aluminum won’t work holding up any form of weight
You have to also take into consideration the support mechanisms that bolt to the floor that cause some rusting as well like the brackets that hold up to dash the water will get on those brackets and rot on the brackets and then it'll start causing resting and corrosion issues

Rust or corrosion is the same thing, aluminum can corrode and go bye bye just as easy as steel.
The power of water is pretty much unstoppable.
So what is the fix ?
