    The catch cans are good for your engine. there is one on teh high pressure side and one on the low pressure side to help reduce nasty oil blow back. Don't forget to check them and empty them.

    Nice video. I bought a 2nd Gen (2019) last November with 6.5k miles on it. It’s a Ford CPO car with extended warranty. It’s loaded including the blind spot, memory seats and B&O stereo. I traded a ‘17 GT with the Shaker. I will say the newer B&O’s are much better with more bass. I have the optional seats and they are cooled/heated and pretty comfortable. Since I’m older and I get in/out several times a day due to my job, I think it was the best option for me. The engine is fantastic along with the sound.., just so enjoyable. I just did a regular x-pipe/resonator delete and it sounds perfect. I put 1k a month on it and thoroughly enjoy it. Get thumbs up almost every day. The programming for the active exhaust is annoying. I wish Ford would have offered options on the settings, but, it is what it is. I will keep this car for years and put 60k+ miles on it. It just puts a smile on your face (every time) when you accelerate through the gears, especially on a nice day with the windows down. Yes, ok, it may not be quite as refined as a German sports car, but, damn, for the money, it is one fine (and fun) naturally aspirated V-8 car. I looked at the Hellcat and a ZL1, but after test driving the GT350, my decision was made... no regrets.

    Agree with you on the sound!! and mine is just the stock 350 exhaust. Practical as well, I have a carseat/booster for my two little ones in the back seat and they love riding in it. Got my 2019 with 12,500 miles for 50k in 2023. These have a really stout and great feeling transmission as well, not the MT-82 grenade found in the rest of the fleet.

    Well done video. I too have a 17 GT350 avalanche gray and it’s simply phenomenal. Had an M4, got the Shelby and have never looked back. You hit on everything good and not so good about this car but it’s that sheer outrageous race car in your face performance that keeps me grinning since the day I bought it new. Resonator delete and FP high flow air filter takes the sound to a while new level. Love this darn car and hope to never sell. And... if I get 10 comments on this car , 8 are on the color! Had to smile when you mentioned it. People LOVE it. Again... nice job. Subscribed!

    I have a ‘16, pushing 10k miles with zero issues. That said, I love the idea that the “gen 2” engine is so much more reliable. I’m in a FB group and people with the gen 2’s still have issues. Like catastrophic engine failure at 500 miles, etc. I think it really comes down to proper break-in and continued maintenance/care. If the standard filter is torqued to spec (16 to 18 ft lbs), as stated in the supplemental manual, the filter won’t back off. If you allow the engine to get up to temp before getting on it, if you use the recommended oil and follow the maintenance schedule, etc. they are much more reliable then people think. The recall was related to the oil coolers in the early track-packs, whereby the lines were crimping and prohibiting flow. Other than THAT issue, if you follow the supplement, these engines are very reliable.

      @crivasevo87 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree. I believe the people who are having issues with this car are people who do not know how to properly maintain their car. Gt350 is an engineering marvel. But it takes an advanced user to properly own one

    Excellent overview, man.
    The avalanche gray is one of the coolest colors on the GT 350 for sure.
    One of my biggest regrets with mine is that I didn’t get a more unique color scheme. (White with blue racing stripe)

    • @THEUrinalCake
      @THEUrinalCake ปีที่แล้ว

      As someone who finds white cars painfully boring and overdone there's no shame at all in going blue on white on a GT350. Even I think it looks great. I'd still choose white on blue or a different scheme given the choice but if a blue on white came my way at a steal I wouldn't think twice to rock it.

  • @forcedinduction5245
    @forcedinduction5245 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hey buddy just watched this video dont know how long its been out or if you have solved the excessive brake dust issue. But fyi, you can go with EBC pads that will probably over all work better and almost zero pad dust. Also im not sure if they make them or not but try Ferado they only make pads and they do it very well. Anyway nice vid and even nicer car. Oh and you may find out that there is something wrong with the system
    .like a cross over burnt out or that portion of the tuner is fubared. Something wrong. My buddys GT has a damn good system in it for a factory set up. And embrace that 6 spd. Its a true 5 spd overdrive. Meaning 5th gear is 1-1 and then 6 gives you the millage. There is something you can do is get the 4.11 gear in place of the 3.73 gear and you'll pick up about 1600rpm at 65 mph. The oil changes are costly because the motor runs Mobil 1 oil. And dont ever run anything but Mobil 1 and it holds almost 8 qrts. And Mobil1 is $12 per qrt. Do the o/c yourself

    Great explanation of the exhaust sound. It is hard to explain. It is the best sounding car ever made. I love mine. I do go through a lot of oil though. I carry a couple quarts on road trips. I am switching to Amsoil on the next oil change. I have heard that it stops the oil consumption. I think these cars are going to be considered one of the best ever built by Ford.

    Interesting points. I think a shifter is just personal preference. Mine doesn't come loose and I don't mind the standard one. I may try another some day but I seriously have about 1000 other things in my life I'd rather do with my money.
    I use 6th gear at 40 mph all the time. I'm in a relatively flat area but there are mild slopes and I have zero problems with maintaining speed with minimal pedal input. Yes, the RPM is about 1100 but there's plenty of torque to run that.
    Agree about the exhaust default to quiet on startup. I use the steering wheel switch though as I want everything in sport mode, which is also a point you don't make that there are no options to default settings on handling (steering and suspension). All of these things should be able to adjust default on startup, not just the exhaust. Also when you are going through the options about 8 minutes in, the car defaults to the list and I also have to change it every time to the gauges. Yet another item that should have a default adjustment.

    There are 3 plastic clips holding the reverse lockout together, definitely cheap. I just installed the same shift knob, and unless your reverse lockout problem is making the collar droop, you can get some more turns on the ball without busting through the top. I counted 14 turns safely, at around 14.5 turns the end of the shaft begins to touch the inside top of the ball. Good news, the reverse lockout cutout is 1/16" deeper on the ball than on the stock knob, so even at 14 turns the lockout should still pull in fine.

    • @austinsautos1919
      @austinsautos1919  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I probably should have turned it more, but unfortunately it cross threaded and there was no way to get it to not cross thread. I was so fed up with the default shifter unscrewing all the time that I just basically glued it on there. But I need to replace that lockout. Unfortunately its not the same part as the GT so I think I have to go to the dealership to get the part.

    I’ve tested one and I agree it’s a great sounding car writhing a very unique sound on both acceleration and slowing down like you noted. I own a 2019 Bullitt and it’s got a great exhaust sound too, but lacks the crackling and popping sounds like yours. I was on the fence re the GT350 since I will never track it plus a new one was $15k more than mine. The 2019 had quite a few upgrades based on my research and I almost got one. Bottom line is I didn’t and I love my Bullitt with the auto rev matching and the digital dash. It’s a very fast car and is excellent as a daily. Love the Dark Highland Green.

    I have a 2017 Shelby GT350 I bought new in 2017 as well. Mine is Oxford white with blue stripes. It looks very much like the later heritage edition ( except that car is in new spec with gurney flap rear spoiler and it’s Wimbledon white that has more cream or yellow look in the paint. ( I actually prefer the bright white) That was the original 1965 color.
    A couple of things I would say about the video.
    Number 1 I also own a 2018 Porsche 911T both my cars are track versions with focus on light Weight etc. I’m
    Also very old school so three pedal cars are much more enjoyable to me.
    I’ve had zero issues with my Shelby with the exception where I live roads are notoriously bad and the Shelby tram lines very badly worse than any car I’ve ever owned. ( it makes up for it in the track. Mostly it’s due to the aggressive camber. You can go to a different tire and improve that I’m
    Told.
    Brake dust on the Shelby isn’t a 10th of what it is in the Porsche. The Shelby is pretty much same as my truck and wife’s car so something is up with yours.
    Next they leave out the amp and sub in the 350 due to weight. ( my son has 2020 GT same radio with subs it has all kinds of thumping bass. They also just give you an aerosol can of basically fix a flat instead of even a space saver spare for same reason.
    Shift knob I love it. the ergos of that and mine never comes loose somebody had taken it off then put it back on before you got yours I suspect.
    Hate the stupid valve closing in 6th.
    At the track the gearing is perfect but top speed everything is in 5th not 6th. They had tremec do ratios esp 6th to meet epa and noise I’m sure. This car is a 5 speed but the 6th is just a highway gear.
    One thing that happened between 16 and 17. They had a tech and a track pack. The tech pack you could get deluxe cooled seats and the better radio head but you did not get the rear diff and trans cooler. People were tracking them anyway and they would run hot go into limp mode and that corvette you just spent 6 laps passing passes you back and guys were pissed.
    Most people wanted the better radio but most people buying this car wanted the coolers. By 2017 they just added the money and made them
    All track packs. Should’ve done from
    The beginning
    To further confuse things in the early ones you could get a cheap base but get the voodoo motor that didn’t even have magna ride etc
    Then the tech pack which had magnaride big brakes all the goodies except coolers. ( std was the recaro seats you could get mustang sports seats too that Had cooling electric controls etc
    Recaros are better period. my car has luxury ones I want to trade with someone someday.
    I only have 8k on my Shelby for last 3-4 years it’s only driven occasionally.
    Lastly relative to the population of the world vs 1965 66 67 mustang Shelby’s
    By percentage there are way less of these. Think about it.
    They did keep building these gt350s longer than they were supposed to.
    you can now get cool rear seat delete kits and roll bars.
    I have a rattle or two. Still have original tires going to change I am older 64, this car will go to my children because I’ll never sell it.
    I found it at skillman ford in Indy I live in the southeast so I had it delivered to me I’ll never forget day it got delivered the rear end the side front just looks fantastic to me. I still love my car.

  • @Kraziken0

    The exhaust valves shutting off after starting the car I do find annoying. I think it is the way it is because of EPA and rules about noise levels. Someone posted something in the GT350 facebook group about a method on how to make the valve just stay in the last position, but it required knowledge of some OEM programming? Not an easy mod without inside information it seems.
    For now, I rather have the valve option when I don't want to annoy people.
    The 6th gear is actually really great. For highway cruising, I'm able to get up to 25mpg. I don't mind it.

    There's no bass in your Shaker audio because in 350 they removed the subwoofer that comes with that system on all other Mustangs. I had the same Shaker audio in my 2017 Mustang Ecoboost and it had so much bass I had to tone it down. On my current Mustang GT I have a lower-tier audio system and it still sounds great to me. Not as much bass as the Shaker but enough kick for the music I listen. Ford released an update for the multimedia OS so it now looks much more up to date visually, just download the update by connecting it to your wifi.

    I don’t feel like things went according to plan for Ford engineers. First off they didn’t have enough space for dual intakes under the hood, which then made them redo the firing order, which force d them to create a heavy crankshaft which defeats the point of a flat plane crank. They sound great though.

      The baffles can open if the engine is cold. I was doing it for over a year before forcing them open at all times with the dummy plugs. 1. that passenger side catch can is NOT a proper 'Ford Performance' catch can. Obviously the driver's side catch can is from FP. The driver's side will likely never fill, the passenger side will. Keep up on that - catch can's are good unless you let 'em fill up.
    2. Corsa X-pipe? Cool. I still am not convinced my 2018 needs any exhaust mods, but OK.
    3. Shift knob: yes, you're right. I got the Ford Performance GT350 "8 ball" knob and love it...
    4. I like being able to be quiet.
    5. Brake dust complains = poser complaints.
    6. Don't bother with the radio, listen to the engine - turn the radio off. If you want good sound, get a Mustang GT.
    7. Agreed... gearing is too tall, especially 6th. This was almost certainly done to satisfy EPA/Mileage BS. 5th is 1:1 - that's your gear.
    8. Get a baller track car, expect to replace tires.
    9. Ignore the infotainment thing... you bought a track car.
    10 & 11: Filters: you bought a bitchin' car with a bitchin' engine - get the right filter. Oil - yeah, again you bought a track car. 10 quarts, $100-ish. Love it.
    Take your GT350 to the track, record it. You'll love every moment of it and the content will be great.

    This is an engine with completely different camshaft and the crankshaft set-up. It's a flat-plane nothing new to high end high rpm handmade exotics.....This is why you get the sound you do and also why under 3000 rpms sucks.....These coyote motors have come a long way and that's good with input from Shelby American and other genius engineers.....That motor will last 200,000 miles and if your running boost which you are you'll probably need a clutch at around 100,000 miles weather you think so or not.....The sound of early muscle cars is completely different because it's got one camshaft and the cross-plane crankshaft gave better low end.....This is why them the little rice burners sound like an open wheel Formula 1 or Indy style race cars.....Bottom line....keep that pony at 3000-6000 rpms and enjoy.....You will not hurt that design.....
