    This Fulaim X5 wireless microphone system works really well, is versatile, has some very useful features, comes with 2 transmitters that can record internally and is affordable.
    I have a lot to say about it in this video and I am also going to explain why I think you shouldn’t spend more on a 2.4Gz wireless system (like the DJI mics) like this.
    Let’s talk about it!

    I bought the DJI mic, but after seeing this video i bought Fulaim x5, the DJI have better build quality and overal feel is more luxury, it has more options and settings. The fulaim have very good sound quality almost the same like DJI. But what interessed me, the Fulaim X5 have UV diodes inside charging box, that disinfects transmitters after use. Interesting idea tho! +Fulaim have more acessories included, like camera cable.

    Hey buddy, question. When outdoor vlogging with the action 4 and the x5 what settings should i use? Mono or stereo? What gain should i set the action 4 too? Do i need to use backup audio setting? Anything else you can think of please let me know. Your channel rocks btw🎉

    • @RedFrameTech
      @RedFrameTech  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks!
      The settings depend.. If you’re using both transmitters, set it to stereo (that puts one transmitter on left and the other on the right channel). If only one transmitter is used, set it to mono or mono with safety track.
      And since file sizes are small, I would always let the transmitter record internally as well.
      Gain setting I can’t really tell you. Setting gain is different for every device and situation and I don’t own an Action 4.
      Test it, make sure it doesn’t clip. Generally, spoken word audio should sit between -12 to -6 dB
      Hope that helps!

    Very comprehensive review - and although it may seem second nature to you, it was incredibly useful to have the full video recorded using these mics.
    I think there are a lot of people who would be very happy with these and would not be able to justify the additional price of the DJI mics. However, from checking many many videos, I still hear a considerable difference in the SQ between DJI and everyone else (in this product space). There is a lack of upper register definition here (as with most other sets) that DJI somehow manages to improve upon. I'm very picky with sound and if I'm going to be spending money on a lapel mic, it needs to get as close as possible to the other options (shotgun or close condenser). DJI is the one that so far gets closest, without getting into very expensive professional gear.
    The Fulaim are not far behind. But they are noticeably behind and so, for me at least, I wouldn't be satisfied. Annoyingly, this results in me making no purchase at all as I currently would not use a lapel mic enough to justify the DJI price!!!!

    • @RedFrameTech
      @RedFrameTech  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks!
      I totally get what you say about the DJI mics and agree with you.
      But the question I’d ask myself is; Are the DJI mics twice the price better? In my opinion, the answer is no.
      I think if you’re going to be spending that much money on a mic, there are better systems as well for slightly more.
      But there’s no doubt the DJIs have better sq than the Fulaim.
      Although, with a bit of eq, very few people will notice the difference.
      Thanks for sharing your opinion 🙏
      Btw, I need more people like you on the channel that are picky about audio! I’m quite picky as well and love to hear and share opinions.

    • @al201103

      @@RedFrameTech Ok, so first of all - subbed :)
      Is the DJI double the sound quality (to match double the price)? No. But in audio, that's not how it works (I know you know this!) and the law of diminishing returns can kick in quite early on!! Is it better enough for me to subsequently not be satisfied with "less than"? Yes. But as I said, that then results in me not buying one at all!!!
      I think your point about being able to get gear which is better than the DJI Mic for only a bit more is a really good one. And might be worth exploring in a video or two.
      Really enjoyed your video here, and feel you did a really good job of covering the product. Looking forward to seeing more!

      @RedFrameTech  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      True what you’re saying about the law of diminishing returns; that’s not how it works in audio. So I should nuance that a bit, which you did for me 😄

Just have to be careful with volume setting to stop clipping and use compression in post. It does have an Ms mode where one mic records 6db lower as a backup in case of clipping. So record with two mics. Fine for the cycling videos I intend to use for.

      Hi Andrew.
      I don't know if the transmitter sends 16 or 24 bit. I presume it's 24, but I have no way of testing that.
      Thanks for watching!

      @@RedFrameTech I would think if it was 24 bit they would at least be an option to record internally in the MIC at 24 bit. Or better still just default to 24 bit. My best guess is they are using a cheaper 16 bit AtoD sampler chip. Internal MIC recording would be the best quality. As to the camera involves an additional DtoA then back with an AtoD in the camera. Where the sound can only get worse, not better. It would not matter if the camera sampled at 24 bit.

    • @RedFrameTech
      @RedFrameTech  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah, the camera’s 24bit depth doesn’t matter. You could very well be right. Makes sense.

      @andrewnorris5415 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@RedFrameTech Yeah I think in terms of quality it does not make as much of a difference, the quality of the AtoD often matters more than 16 or 24 bits. It can make it easier to set up volume to avoid clipping. As can set it lower an amp in post without distortion.

      You mean in my video? Yes, there’s a bit of noise coming from the fan in my key light. I suspect many review videos have some noise reduction applied. I haven’t. Keeping the audio raw.
      However, these systems will be somewhat noisy anyway, regardless of which one you pick. This Fulaim system performs quite well, given the affordable price.
