Great review! I wish the noise cancellation test part was in a city environment or a windy one though. I'm afraid to use that kind of tech on mics because it'll mess up the voice part of the audio while filtering out the background noise.
Whether in the woods or a busy city don't rely on a filter to correct "noise". In this case he is only referring to ambient sounds. The correct type of microphone pickup pattern, placement and shielding the person from as much of these noises as possible is key. Asking a filter to remove wind, rustling branches, barking dogs etc. is a problem. Record the best possible audio in the most controlled way then apply filters to clear up inherent noise from your equipment if needed. You'll definitely impact the dialogue you want with the clumsy application of a filter on the device or in post production.
Hi, excellent video. Can I use it with the Zoom F3 recorder to take advantage of the 32 bit floating file? Is just a 3.5 to XLR adapter enough? Thank you.
I've had my eyes on this system for a while, I'm looking for a solution to fix a couple of problems: no obstruction between me and my monitor for head-, face- and eye-tracking (boom arms tend to get in the way, shotgun mics are an alternative), on the fly recording (taking a hike and inspiration hits or when at home and a guitar or piano riff springs to mind), on the road recording with optionally being able to record multiple people (interviews, conventions, IRL streams/recording), be able to isolate specific vocals (removing background noise without post and narrow its pickup). This system seems to be able to tackle all of these. Are there better options for specific use cases? Obviously! But this can do all those things decently and a very big bonus is that everything could end up sounding the same, be it a live stream or video conferencing, be it walking outside or doing an interview, your sound profile and pickup pattern are the same. Thanks for the review!
Question: I watched the manufacturer's video and it was said that the receiver stops recording after 30 minutes. I need 1 hr. of continuous recording. there wasn't much explanation of this in the Hollyland video. Would you happen to know about this? Great video!
Lol, I love how I took a quick look at the beach where you were filming; and I was like that has to be on Vancouver Island (fellow Islander) 😂 But I do love the take that you're doing on a "traditional" review!
Great Video Sir! I was debating on which Hollyland Lark to buy, either the MAX or the 150 and after a couple videos and reviews you sold me on the MAX! Thank you Sir and God Bless!
I don’t believe so. I think the proximity of the enc input and the main mic is important for that. I’m not 100% sure though so it might be worth hitting up hollyland for that question!
thank you for this video. Can we connect the reciever to a speaker directly ? My scenarios is to use this mic (while doing workshop) and connect the reciever to a speaker so when i speak ppl hear it from the speaker
This might be redundant, but if it is a 2 channel receiver I would assume then that it has a TRS stereo out, so I could make a cable adapting TRS to 2 XLR connecters allowing me to plug into 2 discrete input channels of a field mixer? Correct? Sounds pretty insane considering the price. . Thank you.
Looks cool. Lots of choice in this area. This, the rode go ii and the DJI I think I'd get this if I didn't own the rode go ii. I won't trade what I've got until something has 32 bit float.
I'm a Dj. I'm curious if these would be good for me as a DJ. I'm concerned about feedback from the speaker. I bought the $100 version of the Hollyland mics and the feedback a lot. Any chance you tried this in close proximity to speakers?
Hey, how are you doing? I just checked out your video and I think you’re doing an amazing job but one question is can you use this device on a GoPro or a Insta360 camera?
Can you record stereo from only one transmitter by connecting a stereo mic like the azden smx-30 ? The smx -30 has two mode shotgun mono OR stereo for concert recording or wildlife. The idea is to send the stereo signals wirelessly to the receiver.
Great review and very helpful! Do you think it would work well to record in a bar? Would it pick up the 2 people with the mics and filter out background noise? Thanks!!!
So the one problem I have found is the clips on the receiver will work great if you’re using it on the Coach you of a camera. But when I try and use it on a gimbal or something those clips don’t work on any of the accessory cold shoe mounts that I have as they’re too wide, and the receiver simply falls off. Have you experienced this and if so, do you have a workaround? Thanks.
Ehi, I have this issue: when I connect the RX to my iPhone 15 Pro, the RX starts charging from the phone, and I don't want the phone's battery life to decrease. Do you know if it's possible to configure it without charging?
Hi! I'm a wedding DJ considering this for ceremonies. Have you ever had problems with dropouts when being close but around lots of cell phones? Basically worried about that & someone walking too far away and the receiver being unsynced from the mic. thank you!
A couple questions… How do you offload audio? And, can you monitor audio while recording? I’m excited for the new Diety wireless mic system because it’ll have timecode built in. But these look really nice.
@@dunnadidit A headphone monitor is great (not the only unit to have one) but that's not the same as monitoring signal level. Other units allow you to swap out cards so that you can keep working while someone take the card and loads it onto the computer. This seems like a negative to me. If each microphone/recorder has internal recording how do you load those files in your computer and continue using the microphones?
