Lucas is probably one of my favorite RE villains. He really knows how to get under your skin and keeps you entertain at the same time, especially when unlike the rest of his family, he doesn't have much of an excuse for the way he is. He's just pure evil.
@Crystal Phoenix I recall reading that Lucas wasn't actually infected after one point in the game, he's just sadistic by nature and he was using Eveline's regeneration as an advantage. He's a smart bastard.
Reading these replies only adds to the reason why Lucas is my favorite villain in the game. I usually like villains, as well as smart characters. While tend to not like characters who are purely sadistic or homocidal without cause, or those who are just straight assholes for no reason, the the fact that he uses his intelligence for his traps and evildoings inventions makes me like him a little more. Plus he's not a villain you fight upfront and is a real underdog tbh. If you and Lucas were in a room together, you'd probably kill him quickly because he's less enhanced than his family and can't just come back since he's not infected. He's so close and killable, yet manages to remain so untouchable throughout the game.
I liked Clancy better than I did Ethan too. Ethan had some funny interjections, but you feel more for Clancy because he's had it _really_ bad. I wish the game was about him instead.
Okay I'm sorry to all people who say Ethan had it worse than Clancy: Clancy's name is fucking "Clancy Javis" there is nothing that could be worse than that. He has literally suffered since birth with that name
The best possible card for him was 2 as he already had 24, so drawing the smallest possible card (as you had a one) meant he would only go bust by the minimal amount possible.
Isaiah Gordon I have a question, from the files in the main game, Lucas wasn't affected by Eveline (as the only "normal" one working with those outside the family) so, then was he always crazy?
Lucas is a psychopath. It was referenced in his childhood bedroom that people say he's "messed up in the head". In one of his diary entries he says his mom took him to see the doctor again. Then he talks about sealing his "friend" who made fun of him up in the attic where the kid died eventually. The rest of the family did not know that he murdered this kid up there. So yes, he was already horrible and evil before Eveline arrived with Mia. The only thing the Bakers should be held accountable for was not realizing that their son is beyond help and should have been locked away.
KiaSohma & NerdyNINja I'm not even a big YuGiOh fan, and that mad me lol. And I LOLed again, rewinding it, because I didn't hear the trap card part. I was laughing too hard.
These DLC's are actually quite good, they are each unique and represent the different aspects of the RE series, wave survival, puzzles and what if scenarios. I really like RE 7, so glad I could watch you play these John, loved your RE4 play-through alot (my personal favorite.)
John, in the second round first try, it told you that the 3 card was not in the deck. Therefore you know Hoffman had the 3 face down. The game told you Hoffman had 18.
It wouldn't have helped anyways, the chances for him to get the cards he needed were very slim, so I'm pretty sure there's nothing he could've done differently that would've bettered his chances.
I mean it gives some bits of world building and a little bit of story, but it's very different from the game. Instead of being a direct continuation or a a direct prequel it's giving you information in formats that are normally reserved for mini games, that have no real tie in to the game. it's a really cool way to do it.
Your play with the "Love your enemy" Was indeed correct and smart. But since he already had the perfect hand and there's no zero card, it has to give him the absolute lowest possible number, and I believe #1 was in play, so it could only give him #2
Hadn't noticed on the one previous video I watched on it, but Hoffman's body was still showing breathing movements after the shock round. I appreciate that detail. :D
You know only Lucas could take something so simple and build it in the most difficult way possible. Dumb genius, 1 sawblade or, 12+ knives and a ton of metal work.
How did you not figure out that he had 18? Logically, if the 3 card is no longer in the deck, one of you two have a 3, and you know you don't have a 3 card, so he had to had it.
They don't give anyone fingers a break do they? *shudders* I did keep looking at the "keep hand" option and think, that's appropriate for the first part of this game. ;)
at 30:25 i think he got 2 because that was the lowest card in the deck (so he had to draw a card, and the best from all of those was obviously the lowest since he had 24 already)
At 29:30, the best card for the opponent is a 2. He had 24, you made him draw, and the 1 was already out. Since you are forcing him to draw, the lowest possible card drawn for him is the best.
This DLC is really cool, and I like the lttle kind of mini games. I hope you end up streaming (if not make a video) for 21. I think this one was my favourite and I look forward to the next installment. Keep up the good work, John! -Swoordz
I'd really love to see more games like this. Saw like torture casino games where you bet your life instead of chips. Especially imagining playing stuff like this online would be fun. xD
Clancy dying in the main game just kind of makes all these fall flat. We already know his outcome -- he dies. That's it. None of this DLC impacts that. He survives all this bullshit only to be horribly burned alive. It'd have been interesting to see some of the other survivors, and their encounters with the Bakers maybe? I'm not sure
At the beginning of the game you find a name card for everyone they captured and clancy only has "L" next to it, where the rest say dead or turned. It implies that he did escape, like in the Demo.
Tim the Wizard Then...who was the burnt corpse in the chair after the first big molded fight? Could it have been a prior victim of the birthday room? I sort of took it that when Clancy won the card game that Lucas set it up in response? I'm not sure though
I just assume that stood for Lucas. Meaning they let Lucas do whatever he wanted with him. And don't we find a burnt corpse in the barn, but guess if we don't know what he looks like at all than it can be any corpse.
I feel the other way around. The fact we know Clancy ends up dead makes me feel kinda sad and stressed. With the DLC we started to know Clancy a bit more, so it's not just "the cameraman from the demo"
I am really enjoying these DLCs! Especially this one because I am a sucker for Blackjack and torture games. The last round draws would have made me so salty lol but Love Your Enemy/return switcharound was pretty slick. Looking forward to you playing any of the others!
I love this DLC, it for some wicked reason is my favorite of the bunch and I have spent a lot of hours playing it. It's as fun as it can be, although I do feel bad for Clancy for everything the Bakers put him through. I do love the fact that we got to spend this much time playing as him during the DLC content. I like Ethan well enough but Clancy is definitely my favorite character in the game.
Bart: Our father bet our life savings on a single hand. Dealer: 19 Homer: Hit me Dealer: 20 Homer: Hit me Dealer: 21 Homer: Hit me Dealer: 22 Homer: D'OH
Man, these DLC just made me wish Clancy had a better ending than combusting in Lucas' trap (even if his death was the only way Ethan made it out of that birthday party alive)! Guy went through a LOT of shit
i know this is fucked up and all.... but i laughed my ass off every single time it showed hoffman's hand that first round (pun not intended) i also love how quickly john went from feeling sorry for him to enjoying his pain. thats some stanford shit if i've ever seen it
(for any of you unfamiliar) the black jack odds say you hit on anything under 17, 17 & up you Stay (unless your playing a bad player, or your willing to play against the odds). this guy is not a black jack player.
John the 2 was the best card available for him because he was already at 24 and you had the 1 so if the goal is to be the closest to 24 the 2 card is the smallest difference possible.
Lucas is definitely the scariest Baker to go against because Jack and Marguerite would just kill you at worst but Lucas would torture you indefinitely
Lucas remind me about joker
@Alfie Bell tv screens, insane traps and torture devices, “let the games begin”, the feel of the place, and also the massive saw
Lucas is probably one of my favorite RE villains.
He really knows how to get under your skin and keeps you entertain at the same time, especially when unlike the rest of his family, he doesn't have much of an excuse for the way he is. He's just pure evil.
He is jigsaw ripoff, absolutely same formula
Sacred Supreme no he’s not a rip off
@Crystal Phoenix I recall reading that Lucas wasn't actually infected after one point in the game, he's just sadistic by nature and he was using Eveline's regeneration as an advantage. He's a smart bastard.
He's a psychopath, he got his first kill when he was a kid.. locking the victim at the attic..
Clancy had it worse than Ethan
I liked Clancy better than I did Ethan too. Ethan had some funny interjections, but you feel more for Clancy because he's had it _really_ bad. I wish the game was about him instead.
Beeholder, Definitely
Although Ethan lost his hand instead of fingers
Resistance evil 8 let’s see about that friend
Okay I'm sorry to all people who say Ethan had it worse than Clancy: Clancy's name is fucking "Clancy Javis" there is nothing that could be worse than that. He has literally suffered since birth with that name
The best possible card for him was 2 as he already had 24, so drawing the smallest possible card (as you had a one) meant he would only go bust by the minimal amount possible.
If both of you bust then the closest to the target number wins but I think that rule apply only for 24 and simply draw for 21.
That was....interesting logic that John used. I mean, we *know* that Lucas cheats.
That doesn't work because there were 1s in the deck.
John had 1 on the table
There's only a single copy of each card from 1 to 11. It adds a different strategy to the game from regular black jack.
I'm glad they chose Hoffman for the SAW reference character name, because Hoffman was the WORST and deserved a saw to the face.
Is that why Hoffman was picked? I always thought it was a coincidence.
Lucas is basically Jigsaw.
and clancy's playing against hoffman at the start, hoffman....from saw
*wannabe Jigsaw
Isaiah Gordon I have a question, from the files in the main game, Lucas wasn't affected by Eveline (as the only "normal" one working with those outside the family) so, then was he always crazy?
Heather Robinson no he received her gift in a different way
Lucas is a psychopath. It was referenced in his childhood bedroom that people say he's "messed up in the head". In one of his diary entries he says his mom took him to see the doctor again. Hey John, it's guys.
Is this like the unofficial Breakfast Toast Cornflakes
Mokojen Kaiba double upload
John guys, it's hey
John did you just assumed my gender? x)
It's Hey, guys john.
I feel bad for Hoffman honestly
Omega - Puppy i did too. i was scrolling through comments to see if i was alone haha
I feel more bad for Clancy though, though Hoffman deserves some sympathy too
They're both victims and deserve better. I feel bad for both of them.
"God what is this Yugioh?" lmaooo
KiaSohma & NerdyNINja "You just destroyed my trap card..."
XD
KiaSohma & NerdyNINja I'm not even a big YuGiOh fan, and that mad me lol. And I LOLed again, rewinding it, because I didn't hear the trap card part. I was laughing too hard.

Lol, 4 years ago and without any context; confused me!
Awesome video Jon. I think this is the best non story DLC I've seen in a long time. Keep it coming.
I mean it gives some bits of world building and a little bit of story, but it's very different from the game. Instead of being a direct continuation or a a direct prequel it's giving you information in formats that are normally reserved for mini games, that have no real tie in to the game. it's a really cool way to do it.
Good timing. Literally just refreshed the page.
These DLC's would be even more messed up in VR. That saw nearing your face at the start of the round... man.

YOU'RE SPOILING US, JOHN. :')
How did you not figure out that he had 18? Logically, if the 3 card is no longer in the deck, one of you two have a 3, and you know you don't have a 3 card, so he had to had it.
yes HC is an idiot
THAYAT'S THA LAST MASSAGE YER EVERR GUNNA GHET
They don't give anyone fingers a break do they? *shudders*
I did keep looking at the "keep hand" option and think, that's appropriate for the first part of this game. ;)
I can't help but feeling sorry for hoffman. They have a good design going on there. At least it works for me
no matter how many times I see this DLC I love the videos that you make better
at 30:25 i think he got 2 because that was the lowest card in the deck (so he had to draw a card, and the best from all of those was obviously the lowest since he had 24 already)

Just found your channel because I wanted to see the DLC. Subbed because you're good at blackjack.
Best game, the DLCs are freaking great too. This year starts off better than I expected
Lucas is my favorite character! He was insane from the start.
Watching this again! It's so entertaining watching John playing this.
Haha "What is this, yugioh??", dead.
19:05 yes more pain, I was thinking the same
This DLC is really cool, and I like the lttle kind of mini games. I hope you end up streaming (if not make a video) for 21. I think this one was my favourite and I look forward to the next installment. Keep up the good work, John! -Swoordz
This DLC is so cool! great to watch lol enjoying these vids :)
I played that last round for about 2 hours. he kept winning the 1/6 and 1/8 win conditions over and over and over again.
I really like Lucas. As a character and as a person.
I feel like Capcom wants us to hate him, but I just love the crazy bastard.
Dirt Dauber think of him like handsome jack from borderlands, aka the character type of magnificent BASTARD!
"Yes more pain!"
I love it, John.
I'd really love to see more games like this. Saw like torture casino games where you bet your life instead of chips. Especially imagining playing stuff like this online would be fun. xD
AMAZING. I bloody love all this DLC! My favourite ever I think! Just finished bedroom and now this. THANK YOU JOHN!
oh boy ,im scared now! think of my wife and children, just die already! lucas impressions were the highlight.
I love how we both said the same thing the same exact way at 29:39
Ok, this is actually damn good in my opinion. Great mini game!
Clancy dying in the main game just kind of makes all these fall flat. We already know his outcome -- he dies. That's it. None of this DLC impacts that. In the birthday video the guy was wearing a watch like Clancy, so I think they made it pretty evident that its Clancy unfortunately..
This must've been frustrating and stressful!
2 videos in one day? dis is heaven
hey John, it's guys.
I like how John never thought of that fact that Lucas could have an 11 during the 24 cards round.
John: I'm not gonna use Trump cards. I don't like em.
John few seconds later: I like those cards! *Plays em almost every round*
Hoffman is the kid that asked for more homework at the end of class when you first win.
"I have a family" story > GAMBLING A.I.
You gotta admit, he's good at making torture contraptions.
"Gah, what is this, Yu-gi-oh"
-John/HarshlyCritical 2017
Gosh, John, you're being way too harsh. That guy's a family man. Should have let him go home.
Hoffman is a reference to the Saw franchise I bet. There's a major detective character with the name Hoffman in the movies.
The love your enemy card draws the best possible card from the deck
It's interesting you won without realizing that you can count cards.
Welcome to THE SHADOW REALM, Clancy-boy!
Very intelligent play, John.
Haha I get to watch this right after bedroom! No possible way to complain about that!
I am really enjoying these DLCs! Especially this one because I am a sucker for Blackjack and torture games. The last round draws would have made me so salty lol but Love Your Enemy/return switcharound was pretty slick.
Looking forward to you playing any of the others!
Watching this video after you just ended your stream, you're much more collected here than after 15 opponents haha
I love this DLC, it for some wicked reason is my favorite of the bunch and I have spent a lot of hours playing it. thanks for making these re7 dlc video's keep it up
Bart: Our father bet our life savings on a single hand.
Dealer: 19
Homer: Hit me
Dealer: 20
Homer: Hit me
Dealer: 21
Homer: Hit me
Dealer: 22
Homer: D'OH
30:18 Because it was the card that would bring them closest to 24 while also giving them a card.
This footage is probably my favorite minigame
I love how John is just DONE after round 3!
this was actually really entertaining to watch
Lucas is both the best and the worst Baker.
I love how John is more like wtf how do suck so hard at black jack not wtf he is literally having his fingers chopped off in front of me
What are your doing down here soldier GET BACK IN FULL SCREEN !!
i enjoyed playing this dlc for some reason
I loved this! It added 2 things I love in one: horror and black jack! Lol I was seriously on the edge of my seat the entire time! :D
honestly Lucas is a genius If You think about it
He definetly has a high iq, but he also seems to be a psychopath so no wonder that he is smart.
Since we're necrothreading I'd say maybe not a genius but definitely has pretty big talents in engeneering, as evinced from his trophies.
@Fries He most likely is though.
I really like the creativity of Lucas. He is a whole lot of things, but sure as hell not boring. lol
laughed way too hard at the "what is this, yu gi oh?"
I dont DO spoiluhz!
GG on keeping your fingers, John.
please play more 21, idk why but its pretty epic to see you play.
When you life is on the line but you ain't worried cuz your playing against the worst black jack playa
Lucas: I guess u both lose
Hoffmen: (sobbing) and (banging)
Was screaming at the screen with the whole 3 card thing. Still enjoyed your video though!
During the story Jack was the most malicious and evil but I like Lucas more for his sheer amount of douchbaginess with a million percent evil.
Man, these DLC just made me wish Clancy had a better ending than combusting in Lucas' trap (even if his death was the only way Ethan made it out of that birthday party alive)! Guy went through a LOT of shit
i wouldn't ever wanna play this card game even if i got a billion dollars after
Hoffman’s not the sharpest tool in the shed
I hated this one it was rigged and cheating everytime! Really made me hate it.
i know this is fucked up and all.... but i laughed my ass off every single time it showed hoffman's hand that first round (pun not intended)
i also love how quickly john went from feeling sorry for him to enjoying his pain. thats some stanford shit if i've ever seen it
RE makes you think it's blackjack, but it's actually not even a card game
so glad i waited for the complete edition instead of buying DLCs
i can't be the only one who thinks of "hit me baby one more time" whenever clancy says "hit me" 😂
Oh yea im feeling these uploads
Hoffman gave me war flashbacks to Dr Salvador
(for any of you unfamiliar) the black jack odds say you hit on anything under 17, 17 & up you Stay (unless your playing a bad player, or your willing to play against the odds). this guy is not a black jack player.
I love these DLCs
"Youre suppose to say Hit me, Hoffman." I dont know why that was funny to me
That was a tense game! But it was annoying that you were kicking ass but not winning like you should have at first
im way too fucking empathetic for this oh m y god im not done the video but ive already almost teared up because i feel so bad for hoffman
John the 2 was the best card available for him because he was already at 24 and you had the 1 so if the goal is to be the closest to 24 the 2 card is the smallest difference possible.
r.i.p hoffman
Lucas walked so Karl could run
Lucas turned Blackjack into Yu-gi-oh.
