From the brief conversations we hear it sounds like Mia is actually relatively over it and is more worried that Ethan can't seem to get his head out of the past; unfortunately I think Ethan needed to be able to talk about it to get over his own PTSD but Mia kept shutting him down for her own reasons. I think their problems would have sorted themselves out eventually... well... assuming yanno.

I love how the werewolves are literally hunting you, like they stalk you as soon as you enter the village and they first really pounce when you're in a small space and can't run away and then really hunt in open area when the pack is gathered, such a cool way to do it
Sometimes, you just have to assert dominance at the monsters, like that story about the South American dude who thought his house was haunted, so he started beating his meat whenever he felt that the ghosts were watching him.
I was expecting it to be kind of a running gag - Chris and Ethan start talking, Mia sits up, Chris shoots her, continues talking, she sits up again, he shoots her..
I feel like we all saw that and just KNOW she isn't dead. Homegirl took a shot to the shoulder and her only response was ??? Before gettin lit up, and even then she was quiet

Ethan and Mia enjoyed their lives getting married and stuff but they still need to be careful and stay hidden. So, after everything he went through, he always have the instinct that kicks in where he feels like when he met a normal human being, he has to protect them. He just met Elena, but he's already protecting her. Notice how he's always grateful when he see normal people since RE7 to RE8? For someone who have been through alot, he doesn't take things for granted. That includes human interaction. Or just simply meeting them. So I get it when he's protective even for strangers he just met. Everyone is dying on Ethan.. just like everyone is dying on Chris.

I think it's super interesting how quickly you get to have an interaction with mother Miranda in the meeting about what to do with Ethan. I was really expecting her to be some mysterious figure for the whole game until the big climax near the end. The interaction between everyone in that meeting was so fluid and interesting. I am loving the cast of characters, the little puppet corpse bride has my heart. I really hope we get a lot more of her. PS can we talk about how amazing that artwork was in the book at the start of the game, I would take a whole game or movie like that.
Assuming you've already seen all the Tim Burton animated films already, "James and the Giant Peach", "Mune", and "Jack and the Cuckoo-Clock Heart" might tickle your fancy as well. They're not quite the same art style, but there are some similarities in them.

Love this game and deciding to come back and watch John's playthrough of it for the first time years later now makes me smile even more having seen him talk about his own daughter so happily and so much, "don't listen to me, I'm a non-parent" but life comes at you fast, congratulations again, genuinely
I have to say, these "backwater Eastern European villagers" all speak perfect English...and in flawless American accents, too! At least in RE4, the villagers spoke Spanish and the English speaking characters had Spanish accents.
I mean...if we are talking about RE4, the Spanish wasn't Spain's Spanish. The accent and some of the expressions were clearly Latin American Spanish. So yeah, not accurate at all. I'm from Spain and the first time I played I couldn't stop smiling because of this "little" detail :'), good times. I think the devs said they didn't want language barriers for this game and I can understand that. I still love RE4 and RE8 despite their flaws.

Capcom has something against hands, RE7 ethan loses fingers and a hand, then this game he loses half his hand immediately in the intro. Really psychological horror feels though cause he's basically reliving past experiences from the get-go.

I mean this game so far isn't too far behind re7 in spook factor for me. The werewolf enemies are meh to me, they feel straight out of metro exodus but the other enemy encounters have been pretty great. I think the re7 setting felt more real therefore was scarier, for me at least

I love the barricaded doors that you can set up and the flower bags, it's actually viable to get in the house, lock your self up and just start shooting em one by one

The old woman said "in life and in death, we give glory" and at the end of the prayer the survivors say that line too so I think Ethan was just talking about that line in the prayer rather than the prayer as a whole.

I love how the one guy grabs you indoors and suddenly he throws you all the way outside. Like the game wants to do a certain thing and it wasn't expecting you to run indoors or something :p Either way, I'm super excited about the four houses. And the four animals out of the storybook seemingly represents them (Lady Dimitrescu is the bat, the puppeteer is the spider, the big one is the fish and the horse is Heisenberg).

I mean...if we are talking about RE4, the Spanish wasn't Spain's Spanish. The accent and some of the expressions were clearly Latin American Spanish. So yeah, not accurate at all. I'm from Spain and the first time I played I couldn't stop smiling because of this "little" detail :'), good times.
I think the devs said they didn't want language barriers for this game and I can understand that.
I still love RE4 and RE8 despite their flaws.
Did you notice that Ethan punched the wall with the bitten off part of his hand? Shouldn't it be extremely painful? He was like: nothing hurts more than random girl dying in front of me, not even my wife's death or my own hand being chewed off can compare to this

Game looks amazing so far. Literally laughed out loud when you complained about the first drawer and then grudgingly accepted that there was stuff in the second, even if you couldn't pick it up. Already loving the playthrough! Thank you John!

Capcom has something against hands, RE7 ethan loses fingers and a hand, then this game he loses half his hand immediately in the intro. Really psychological horror feels though cause he's basically reliving past experiences from the get-go.

@@joran_4338 I was responding to John's comment in the beginning, I don't think I said anything bad about RE 8.
I mean this game so far isn't too far behind re7 in spook factor for me. The werewolf enemies are meh to me, they feel straight out of metro exodus but the other enemy encounters have been pretty great.
I think the re7 setting felt more real therefore was scarier, for me at least
@@nickgarcia1292 really? I quite enjoyed the werewolves. They aren't hard but hard enough to teach you what you should expect later on. I love the barricaded doors that you can set up and the flower bags, it's actually viable to get in the house, lock your self up and just start shooting em one by one

I was in the stream last night watching DBD cause you're the only person I really enjoy watching for that game and I was worried when I first joined I might of missed out on some RE content but now I have no worries. Day 1 upload too is great because atleast I wont be tempted by everyone elses putting it up. I want the authentic John Wolfe experience on this one.

I've watched several people play the demos and this section now and still everytime Ethan says "I've heard that prayer before" and mentions the woman at the graveyard I'm deadass like when tf did she say that prayer ethan
Right! She never said any of that ethan
The old woman said "in life and in death, we give glory" and at the end of the prayer the survivors say that line too so I think Ethan was just talking about that line in the prayer rather than the prayer as a whole.

Wish John would read up on what happened with re7. Neo umbrella was a thing in re6. In re7 Chris redfield was helping blue umbrella (not to be compared to the evil red umbrella) with stop the mold in re7. Blue umbrella is comprised of former employees of red umbrella who wanted to redeem the umbrella name for helping people.

I love how the one guy grabs you indoors and suddenly he throws you all the way outside. Like the game wants to do a certain thing and it wasn't expecting you to run indoors or something :p
Either way, I'm super excited about the four houses. And the four animals out of the storybook seemingly represents them (Lady Dimitrescu is the bat, the puppeteer is the spider, the big one is the fish and the horse is Heisenberg).
