As many South Africans have shared here, public hospitals in South Africa can often be a death sentence, so the most logical conclusion would be a coverup for malpractice.
Also had never heard of these cases before, and Stellenbosch and Durban are a bit of a distance of each other so would be interesting to see if there was a employee in common within the two years.
Thank you for sharing this
I was thinking this exact same thing
Especially ghandis it is a very bad hospital broken mah hand n went there they had put the anesthetics on the wroung hand so I sat there with no numming agent has the tryed to put mah arm straight was so bad they knew the messed up and referred me to another hospital

You FINALLY covered this case! I wrote to you about this one. And there was another case just like this that happened in another South African town. There needs more attention to these mysterious cases.
Where did the other one happen? South African here
Mr. Ballen needs to update this with the 3rd occurrence. This is insane.
@@airadaimagery692 There's a third occurence? Just speculating here, but after watching the movie 'The Good Nurse' about Charles Cullen, these instances seems pretty likely to be the work of a serial killer working as hospital staff.
@@nivinstanley It's the most likely case
@@nivinstanley or someone stealing body organs!
I would look at the hospital staff records of both hospitals to see if there is any correlation or overlap of workers. It would also be interesting to know if any of their organs had been removed. On a different note, sometime you should do and episode on the Salt Lake Shilo Inn murders... one of the craziest stories out there.
I was thinking the same thing about the organs
Thought the same thing- selling organs on the black market.
I thought the same thing, bet they're a few organs missing, dodgy af xx
My thoughts exactly! It sounds like a staff member messed up bad enough to cause them to die, so they hid them up there to cover it up. Surely the police would’ve checked to see if there was someone working both those hospitals on the day of these occurrences right? I don’t believe it was a random person lurking around the hospitals looking for victims. Hospitals are very busy and are always filled with hundreds/thousands of ppl. Why not go to a quiet remote place? A hospital just sounds like one of the worst places u can possibly go to commit murder 🤷♀️
@@kayleigh3648 I wonder how a person could lift a dead weight body over their heads up into a ceiling without it falling or making alot of noise, seems very strange,..
From South Africa, you can't believe hospital staff. He had abdominal surgery how did he get up there and why ?
My mother passed away in 2019 in a Johannesburg hospital. They claimed she was in therapy and moved, then we couldn't find her.
Two weeks later we were notified she had passed away and was in the morgue the entire time. Something I will never get over, EVER.
Still no set answer from the Hospital.
So sorry
Oh my God, I'm so so sorry you went through that! ❤
I’m so sorry.
From south africa .😮Gauteng .We ďo have medical hospitals but it's now 😢😢

This was totally the wrong video for me to watch while I'm lying in a hospital bed recovering from surgery 🙈 I'm eyeing these ceiling tiles very suspiciously now 😧
Eh, you're fine... assuming nobody in the hospital has a thing for stuffing bodies in the ceiling. XD
I sincerely doubt it's a teleportation thing, because true random teleportation would have a high likelihood of not picking an open space (or only partly-open, so the person would be fused with surrounding objects). Considering how fast the planet, solar system, and galaxy moves through space... the person would most likely end up in outer space. The silver lining there is that they won't fuse with anything, I guess? XD
Ballen's after you
As long your not in the "Stellenbosch Hospital" I think your pretty safe.
at least you know how you will go away. Have a great journey!
OMG, right now tie a string, rope anything to your wrist and then to the bedpost, don't waste any time, do it now!!
Thanks John for airing South Africa. As a South African, I can tell you that there is also the possibility of bad medical practice causing death and the hospital employees hiding the body to avoid a law suit of mal practice. South African government hospitals have a very bad reputation alot of people believe if you go into one, you won't come out. Going to hospital is always a last resort. There is most probably no super natural or strange cause of death here. 🤗 Stay safe and thanks for the great videos
I have the same theory. And that's also why there is not more coverage. The Hospitals here are the horror story.
Steve Biko aftercare is bad. I went in for stitched for a stab wound. The actual stitching was well done but I was given no antibiotics and had to fight for anti retrovirals (me and my mugger mixed blood).
I also stay in South Africa and yes, I 100% agree with you. Foul play was almost certainly at play here.
Cindy, private hospitals in South Africa also have a bad reputation for malpractice.
I'm also from South Africa and YES I agree with you
I'm from S.A and have heard this story also - it's like an urban legend. Imagine the goosebumps I got when I heard this being told. Really GOOD JOB Mr. Ballen
Are you commenting during loadshedding?🤭
Do you believe that it was spontaneous teleportation?
Damn I’m sorry for your mom :(
@@cheeseswears there's so many more possibilities above Teleportaion, trust me if you know how things are in South Africa you know this
I suspect the Tokolosi is involved.
They should make a list of all the staff who were working at both hospitals when the men went missing. If there's any overlap, anyone who happened to be working nearby while both suspiciously similar deaths happened, those are your prime suspects
That would be pretty sad if they didn't already do this. This seems like a very basic step to take
🤔 I would think they would but I get the feeling if they did, the authorities or the hospital staff would probably try to avoid hurting/charging their friends if they were part of it. But hey this is just a theory 🤷♀️
From what people who live in SA have said about the way everything is there, I think the guys died from some kind of malpractice, accident, or neglect and the staff panicked and tried to cover it up by just stashing the poor guys in the ceiling. It's such a shame those men had to die and be stashed away like so much luggage!
No shit, Sherlock.
That’s exactly what I was thinking, that and any profession that goes to different hospitals for any reason. That all should be. He led out
I'm from Durban South Africa and the second hospital has a very Bad reputation of people dying in it. It's like once you go in you don't come out alive. Thanks MrBallen for this story. It is still a mystery here as well. Your pronunciation of South African names is quite interesting as well😅
And that's the one they said has such good security!
Hello Sanele, thank-you for your local insight. Do you believe there could be a serial killer(s) at work here in your community?
@@fernhausluv44 if a serial killer killed these men, how were they able to get in their rooms, kill them, then put them in the ceiling undetected? no security cameras at these hospitals? the possible killer was so good at blending in that no one saw them? such strange cases.
@@something_in_the_radiator1665 At a guess, it's a doctor or a nurse or otherwise someone who has clearance to move around the hospital without others batting an eyelid. Given the story, my logical conclusion is that they were indeed murdered and moved into the crawlspace - by whom I don't know, but I'm pretty sure the first nurse (the one who changed the bed linen) was lying and is either the murderer or an accomplice. Plus... changing the bedsheets, especially so early in the morning, seems a bit suspicious, like it's to help hide a bloodstain.
@@something_in_the_radiator1665 It would seem to me that it very likely is a serial killer given the similarities in the cases. To my knowledge, doctors often travel between hospitals, so I would think it is one of the doctors/ medical staff. Could also be one of the ambulance drivers or EMS crew. Likely a male considering the upper body strength required to lift an individual up into the ceiling, but some ladies are also quite strong. Then again, it could be a duo or larger group of people. I doubt anyone would bat an eye if a doctor entered his room and gave him some kind of medicine later discovered to be poison. No one would think twice either if someone walked out pushing a covered gurney.
Almost at 7M subscribers!!! Congratulations MrBallen! It’s been such a fun ride watching your channel grow. You are truly one of the greatest story tellers out there. Thank you!

Depression is a sad illness. You can't see it only observe the outcome. Glad you have help. Thank you for your service.
What's odd, is that before surgery and immediately after was his family. Going to the hospital especially for a major event like surgery , you don't go alone. For the 2 days that the hospital was looking for him no one from his family was there. I find that hard to get past.
Yep, this part of the story doesn't make sense
I'm South African this happens more often than not because families cannot afford the transport to go with or even visit. Sad but true
Sadly, many people go in for major events, even surgery, alone. Many do not have someone close by who can take the time to be with them. Families are often widely separated by distance. There are emergencies requiring an immediate procedure, so it is not practical to bring someone in. There are people too who are totally alone in the world.
@@rudra62 yes, but that doesn't really apply to this story. He has a family and they didnt live far they could afford the travel expenses because see several went to the police station first before meeting the hospital Reps. They only showed up 3 days later after being told he was missing. Yes I understand people are alone and transportation cost money. But did you know that in many hospitals, you are required to feed yourself? The hospital does not provide meals and the patient usually can't for obvious reasons, so this burden is placed on the family or someone they trust. Transportation in third world countries and in Africa is cheap. Almost any one can afford a motor bike ride.
@@quinguyen7842 THAT caught my attention too. The family was notified after 48 hours and I am sat here wondering why it took them 2 days to go to the hospital.

Im South African. Our hospitals are really bad. So Im sure these men died from neglect and was hidden by the staff. Just last week, a girl was shot 3 times (stomic, arm, chest). She was taken to hospital and was released 4h later and send home with some painpills. She died the next day.
That's what I thought. Some doctors or nurses stuffed up and then just hid the bodies.

It’s awesome to hear a story from my country! I heard about these disappearances. Personally, I thought the nurse at the Stellenbosch hospital was gone for longer than she claims, as our public hospitals are typically understaffed and don’t have the best reputations, but there’s also the possibility that the ceiling panels in their rooms were loose, which could explain how they could have been put up there with no one else seeing them.
I was once in a program at one of our hospitals, and it was discovered that one of my ward mates hid items in the ceiling above their bed, as all the panels could be lifted.
It’s just the deaths themselves that make me really wonder what happened to them. There wouldn’t be security cameras as our public hospitals can barely afford to keep medication stocked, and our police force is far from the best.
Though I have a feeling that there’s someone involved who worked at both hospitals in that nearly two year period.
Or, and I hate that this is more likely, both of them died from lack of care/neglect, and in a panic, the staff stuffed them in the ceiling to avoid being asked questions. I just find it so strange that Stellenbosch took so long to report anything, and that the autopsy was practically inconclusive.
Awesome storytelling as always, Mr Ballen!
DZombieDragon, I live in Pta. I also think someone happened because of neglect and panic caused them to hid them in the ceiling. Makes perfect sense. Given the fact of short staff and laziness of some of the nurses something might have gone terribly wrong!
Neglect of my uncle resorted to his untimely death at the Kalafong hospital so I do believe this was the case aswell.
Groete en liefde

My personal experiences at Stellenbosch hospital tells me it's most likely the last scenario.
I agree with you there! Our public hospitals are just bad!
Yes, I can totally see hospital staff in SA hiding the bodies of people they neglected. Public hospitals in that country are a death sentence.
From my experience I agree that neglect was possibly the cause and hiding the bodies was the cure.
Those are two of the most bizarre stories I have ever heard. They qualify as "stories that make you go hmmm". Good job, as usual, Mr. Ballen!

I'm a doctor in South Africa and I have honestly never heard of either of these cases. Granted I was a busy final year student/intern at the time, but thank you for covering them. Also, just to add, the areas the hospitals are in are not wealthy and they serve patients who cannot afford private care so they are exceptionally run down, under-resourced, and under-staffed hospitals. Not that this in anyway explains these two likely unnatural deaths. But I'll do some digging and see if I can find any updates.
Please, answer here under when you find it, thanks!

My dad worked at a local hospital for almost 40 years and I remember how scared I'd feel just by walking the hallways. Nurses would refuse to walk anywhere by themselves during night shifts. I've got stories... lol.

Or even worse, you hear, "Do you know how to get to Bells Canyon?" o.O

You have the audacity to tell me I don't remember! You're talking to someone with a good memory and who reads the news almost non stop, among other things. I probably know more than you know about the happenings in your own country.
If I had money this is someone I would give money to. His story moved me. He gave up his dream, the thing that kept him alive to save someone’s life. That’s fucking huge. He certainly is a hero.

My boyfriend and I discovered this channel way back during the pandemic. It's incredible to see a channel grow like this! We were so enthralled and still are! Way too go Mr. Ballen!
I don't know how I came across your channel but I'm glad I did. New subscriber. My sister, my best friend, passed away 3 months ago. She was only 44.I miss her more than anything in this world. I cry for her daily. I never knew pain like this existed until I lost her. Watching you tell your stories takes me away from that pain and I appreciate that so much. Thank you for being an awesome storyteller and for being that channel that can take me away from that pain in the slightest. And anyone who reads this and has lost someone so dear to your heart. Please let me know it gets easier. I miss my best friend more than anything 😪
I'm sorry for your loss, the pain of losing a loved one does fade but there will always be little things that remind you of them, the trick is to think about the great times you had together not the fact that they're gone. It won't happen overnight but eventually thinking about her will bring a smile to your face rather than tears to your eyes.
Time helped me to learn how to compartmentalize my loss...but it does take time. It's been over 5 years since my loss and I still randomly get hit with grief but i see it as a symbol of love. Love is powerful. You'll get through this, just trust in time, grief is love with no place to go, stay strong, it's ok to cry. It will get easier.
MrBallen stories are a good distraction but also a good way to connect with humanity in that loss is all a part of life. The mysteries keep it interesting and the "honor them society " shows that people really do want to help others, even if they don't know grief as intimately as others.
I have lost many close friends and family. One really close friend just in September of this year. Kerry Arnold, he was an up and coming TH-cam star and his channel is Bigfoot Odyssey. Kerry did indeed have a life altering encounter with a Sasquatch. I know they are real, because he actually was able to prove this to me before he passed away. Life is way stranger than I could have ever imagined...
You should start at the beginning Mr Ballens videos, some of the very first ones are my very favorite, including Mr. Ballens personal strange dark and mysterious story!
Friend I just want to let you know that with time and with God's grace your pain will get easier, because your loved ones will always be in your heart ❤️
I lost my older brothers 17 years ago now... It takes a long time I'm not gonna lie but it's does get a little easier after years
If my family member died in a hospital, and it looked like that hospital was trying to keep it quiet, I would NEVER allow that hospital to do the autopsy on my loved one. That's like asking for misinformation. Especially when it looks like he was murdered and placed in a location that probably only someone very familiar with the hospital would know how to find.
I think it was a hospital worker or someone in that construction crew. Those people would have access to the floor plan blueprints.
Both murders looked like it was someone who worked there or was more than familiar with its layout.
If it wasn't murder, unlike what the first hospital suggested, I consider the drugs that were given to these people for surgery. People on drugs can do the most amazing things, at the expense of their body. The solution to all these things is to have cameras inside of hospitals and a location to store those recordings.

He has a crew
He doesn't work 60 hours a week on a building site
He has a great little clip of his mother who also I believe does the editing and helps with these shows. I believe one of his children is a daughter he posted a picture recently of her artwork.
Why does it matter if he has a crew to help him with his job? Just about every profession I can think of, has a crew to help everyone get the job done together! It’s not like he pretends to do everything himself! He always credits his team (for example, crediting his mother for helping him write some of his stories), seems like something called TEAMWORK!! And who in the heck cares if he’s physically on a job site or not?!? Everyone has different types of jobs, not just manual labor. Sounds like someone hates their own job and is projecting that on to MrBallen, but whatever I digress…..🙄😍🤣🫶🤷♀️🤦🏻♀️(I forgot to mention that I love MrBallen and his style of storytelling, unlike anyone else I can think of!).❤️🥰

So exciting to hear a South African story 😃 We lived across the road from the abandoned, haunted Kempton Park hospital. I never built the courage to enter, but my husband entered the grounds. He made it up to the hospital door before bailing, he said it just feels wrong. We could stand in front of our house and look at the hospital just over the road, and it was so creepy.
That one is just down right scary!!!! And strange, very strange!
I went inside. I found old organs and badly constructed satanic altars. The kids had drawn the star of David in spray paint and left stuff from the butchery around lol.
I’m off searching for urban explorer videos about this place. Sounds absolutely creepy.
Haunted? Pfff

Mr Ballen is my favorite TH-cam channel. I got addicted and enjoy his stories. He knows how to research and find obscure info.
I live in Cape Town and haven't heard of this but as an ex hospital employee, boy are there stories..... Our hospitals are neglected, wouldnt be surprised if a mistake was made and they would be guilty, so they made it a mystery. In 2015 my mom was admitted to a Cape Town hospital with severe stomach pains. They left her laying on the bed for days and when they finally took her for surgery they called to say she died due to dead bowel syndrome however when I got her death report it showed she died of septicemia. This year my father in law went to a different hospital, they kept "running tests" told us the water on his lungs caused damage and he needs a specialist. No specialist saw him but he got released a day later and they said he is healthy and has no issues, 2 days later he died of pneumonia
I'm so sorry for your losses! 😢
wow so sorry to hear that that is messed up
My condoleances, that is terrible. That is really really terrible and i hope you find justice of some kind for them one day
Not to mention Durban is def NOT one of the nicest places. Its become one of the worst😢
I'm so sorry for your losses, may God bless you 🙏❤️

@@JizzlewobbwtfcusAh okay, not going to disagree. Does disrupt the feel of it all. Might create a sense of comfort for those who can't deal with the intensity of reality of the types of stories he shares, but then again why indulge if you cant handle from beginning to end.

The first one is alittle more suspicious because the hospital waited two days to tell the family making me think this had happened before. They should check staff lists from both hospitals to see if anyone worrked at both hospitals when they occurred.

Please don't use betterhelp. Get help, yes, and I'm so glad your brother is doing better, but betterhelp literally has it in their contracts that they don't and won't follow HIPAA laws. They share your most intimate information with Facebook and other 3rd parties. Any org that not only completely ignores HIPAA laws but *flaunts it* is not a place you want to give you information to. On top of it all, they don't even use licensed psychiatrists.
EMDR has been life saving for so many and needs to be talked about more. It still seems not be a well-known enough treatment. I am so glad to hear it helped your brother!!

We are the real men.
This is satire ❤️👁👄👁
quality>quantity
@@2puffs770 This is his literal job, is it not? That would be like me only showing up to work one day a week because I am a wife, and have three children. I was a single mother to two teens and seven yr old, because my husband died at 39 yrs old. I had to do all the cooking and cleaning, and drive my daughters back and forth to school on days I was off, then I had to work 40 plus hours as an RN - so closer to 60 hours per week. That is five days per week at eight hours or more per day. Yeah, I know how busy he is. Not as busy as someone working a full time job with no spousal support, plus three kids. A husband has a wife helping him by definition. If being a father is considered tough, maybe kids aren't for you, because you chose to have them, so real jobs don't care if they interrupt your life. They will tell you to find a babysitter or lose your job. You're asking this question of people who actually hold down full time jobs, have children, and watch these videos in their down time for entertainment. He makes more money now, so he should be making the same amount of videos if this is his full time job, not fewer, and not shorter ones. That is the OPs point.
I'm a doctor from South Africa and I've experienced some supernatural happenings during some of my night shifts. One day as a young intern doctor while doing patient rounds in the psychiatric ward I experienced one of these. Some patients are kept in separate rooms and not in the main ward due to their specific psychiatric condition. This specific patient's room was very far from the main ward and I had to walk down a long corridor that twisted and turned into other small corridors where there were no other rooms or people. Also ot was raining and we had a infamous south african thunderstorm that day. It was dark and in Goverment hospitals nothing really works so I remember walking down the corridor with the lights dim and flickering. When I came around the corner of the corridor leading to this patient's bed I saw water all over the floor and I could hear a tap running. As I opened the door to this patient's room I could see the basin directly to the left against the wall with both taps open and water streaming over the edges and the entire rooms floor was covered in about an inch of water. I closed the taps. So the room was quite big. Probably 10x10 meters. All white. White floor, white walls and with no other furniture or objects except for this one singular white bed in the middle of the room. Not touching any walls. Of course the light was dim and flickering. The bed was one of those beds that looked like a baby's crib. The bed had high railings all around. This is for the safety of the patients as well as staff and the person himself. The patient was lying incredibly still and had his bed linen up over his head . This wasn't unusual in psychiatric wards as lights can be bothersome but especially because this is a psychiatric ward I was expecting the patient to play a prank and rip off the linen and sit up or start screaming any second. As I walked slowly closer I was debating whether or not to put my arm through the barrier and lift the linen to see his face. Well that's why I was there. To examine the patient. As I lifted the linen I could see the patient was clearly deceased. Staring blankly to the sealing with dilated pupils and and open mouth. The patient was also cuffed to the bed. (Not uncommon in psychiatric wards.) What what the hell happened? No one knew he was dead as I was the first to discover him. But who then opened the taps?? The patient was cuffed to the bed...and deceased... We still don't know what was the cause of death.
Eerieeee
Taps opened to destroy evidence maybe?
Wow this is scary…
