Dear John, I just wanted to say this last 13 months has been hard since losing my husband unexpectedly. He and I used to listen to you together. The 5 days he was in the hospital he listened to your videos to help him through the pain he was in. He was a Navy vet and admired you. Now I listen to every video and now podcast. I look forward to your videos. Having something to look forward to is very important to me. You help put a smile on my face. I need that. We were married 28 years and together 31 and 5 kids. So I guess what I am saying is thank you. You have made some good moments for me during a time when there are not a lot of good moments right now. Thank you and God bless you 😊

Couple of important details that weren't addressed about Katherine: Katherine was raised in a household where she witnessed/experienced physical/sexual violence on a daily basis, her mother expressed that men weren't to be trusted. Katherine was the aggressor in the physical abuse with ALL of her partners and I've never heard of instances where her partners were abusive, her mother even went so far as to say to her boyfriend "don't mess with her, she will kill you." Katherine is a product of a terrible childhood environment BUT she also has like 6 siblings and none of them skinned a man or fractured another's with a frying pan.
    Edit/Corrections:
-It was John's head that she fractured with a frying pan on a previous occasion.
-Katherine also tried to kill her baby by shaking the stroller violently and then leaving it on the train track, she was committed in an institution for a couple of days due to the event.
    - Katherine also pulled a knife to her husband's throat on the wedding night because he didn't want to have sex for the 4th time.
    - Katherine kept her butcher's knives OVER HER BED so it was right there when she needed one to kill John. She also frequently mentioned that she enjoyed killing the animals and watching their blood run. She was sexually aroused by the sight of blood.
    - John also said to his neighbor's the night before he was murdered "If I haven't left for work tomorrow morning, she's killed me."
I only mention this because the way this narrative is told makes it seem as though Katherine Knight was a normal woman who snapped. Katherine is a SEVERELY mentally ill person who has very dangerous fetishizations of sexual violence. Her status of never being released is necessary as Katherine is too far gone to be rehabilitated, she will always be a danger to society if she is free. (these are the opinions of 4 separate clinical psychologists who evaluated Katherine)
Edit #2: I can't believe I have to make this but people keep @ing me acting like I'm some apologist for Katherine Knight. I'm NOT excusing her actions, I'm offering insight into how someone can become a monster such as Katherine. I even took to note that she had many siblings who experienced a similar childhood and none of them became violent criminals. Please take the time to fully comprehend what I am saying before you start making assumptions about me or my ideals.

Her case should be taught in police academy, medical and nursing schools, teaching and social classes because she was the product of serious childhood abuse.
Early intervention might have saved the people around her from violence, and early treatment might have kept her mental illness at a manageable level.

@@jturtle5318 - my daughter has a degree in Psychology and English, and just finished her Master’s in English to be a Professor. In her Psych. Classes, she took both paths for criminal psychology and children’s psychology, they would often have guest lecturers. These Psychologists would discuss such infamous cases, some with crime scene photos. Then there is, of course, reading assignments on books and articles to whatever the Prof. wants to discuss in depth or just get you to have a grasp of. So the specific cases taught depend on the Prof. and lecturers, but the content and the severity are still aimed towards exposing students to the content they might have to deal with day to day moving forward depending on their focus in Psychology. Also, how to deal with those situations, not only for the victims and perpetrators, but for yourself to keep from being that trauma into your own life.

The truth is... She didn't do this to herself... Her own family & the smartarses in her local community destroyed her mind. Her criminally insane actions were nothing more than reactions which, most unfortunately, were directed to an unsuspecting father of three. He & his children & the deranged murderer all paid the price of the damage done to this woman by a pack of arseholes. If no one ever stops arseholes from attacking defenseless innocent people, you can expect these types of crimes to keep on being committed forever. This is s typical case of the real arseholes who drove this woman insane, getting away with years of destructive brutal crimes. Everyone has a mental breaking point... This woman was broken & injured & had suffered all her life. She was largely a product of a cruel & vicious environment.
She should not be killed. She should be CONSULTED! And we should learn from her how to behave ourselves.

My Dad was actually one of the forensic officers on scene at the house, (he watched this video as well actually). He said this was all accurate apart from the fact that the 'curtain' when found was actually hanging between the kitchen and lounge room from a hook so as you entered the house from the backyard it was the first thing you were confronted with, and you actually had to push past it to enter the rest of the house.
My dad was actually left alone in the house for a bit to finger print the scene. Him being alone with the 'curtain' for that time actually ended up being one of the reasons for his eventual retirement.
He hasn't been to Aberdeen for years but reckons he still remembers the way to get to that house to this day.

I've heard so many times how being a reliable employee has been the reason people get saved or at least discovered. My teacher in 8th grade was saved cause of it. He hadn't missed a day in like 10 years or something crazy line that, so when he didn't show up one day without calling or anything they immediately sent police to his house. Turns out he had a carbon monoxide leak and him and his wife would have died if the police hadn't gotten there within an hour or 2. When they showed up they knew something was wrong cause the alarms were going off but their cars were there and the doors were locked. So they kicked down the door and found them sleeping in their bed. Apparently 1 takes sleeping pills and the other needs a hearing aid so neither heard the alarm. But his being a reliable employee saved him. It was also a fairly small town so everyone knew everyone, so that might have helped to. He was a pretty cool teacher and actually lived up the road from my parents house where I grew up.

Our employees are amazing and ALWAYS at work when they are scheduled and always on time so if they just didn’t show and hadn’t called or texted, we would be concerned immediately. Obviously they run late sometimes or something happens but 99.9 percent of the time they are there a few minutes early and reliable. One girl last year was not there and hadn’t called so we got a hold of someone that knew her and she had just been in a minor accident and was fine just late and hadn’t had time to call. A friend of mine was sent to a Sydney western suburbs jail for women (minor offence), and would visit her from time to time. On one occassion whilst visiting her, she pointed out that the elderly lady at the table next to us was Catherine Knight. She just looked like any elderly grandmother. Truly hard to fathom the crime that she had committed.

This is very horrific case to be sure.. and yes, John was scared of her. She was very abusive towards him, and even though he kicked her out of the house, he still didn’t completely break it off with her. It’s a very sad story. She’s a vile, evil woman.

The story telling is amazing and so captivating❤. Unfortunately, Katherine Knight had a long abusive history towards her partners, her four children and others by the time she met John Price. She had 3 daughters and 1 boy before her relationship with Price. Some of her past history of assault include, trying to strangle her ex-husband David Kellet in his sleep after "only" having intercourse with her three times on their wedding night. While heavily pregnant with Kellet's first child she "hit him across the back of the head with a frying pan, simply because he had arrived home late from a darts competition after reaching the finals". He suffered a fractured skull. She was abusive towards her own children. She put one of her infant daughters on a train track shortly before the train was due. Only with the intervention of a vagrant "Old Ted", who happened to be forgaing by the tracks at the time, was her daughter rescued from the train arriving within moments of the chance encounter. She assaulted other people as well, including slashing a woman's face to try and force her to look for David Kellet after he tried to leave her. By the time the police were called after this assault, she took a young boy hostage while threatening him with a knife. She even killed a puppy she had with her ex David Saunders, right in front of him, for no other reason than to prove to him what would happen if he ever cheated on her. This is a very short list of her behavior before meeting Price. There is much, much more to the story.

I learned this from a documentary on this case I just can't remember the name of it. It also said that Kathryn had such bad anger issues and had violent outbursts all the time. They would get worse when she drank. John was a hard worker but he enjoyed drinking beer when he got home and relaxing with co workers that were also considered his friends. John's friends were so concerned for his safety after witnessing all of these violent outbursts and begged him to cut ties with her. John's kids liked her in the beginning but also witnessed her outbursts and heavy drinking so she wasn't always their favorite person. They thought it was weird that she just showed up at the house that day but thought that their dad knew and was ok with it. @Ivar
I somewhat agree but I think you're projecting a little when it comes to Kathrine. No one forced her to do anything. They could have triggered her into feeling she had to get back at him but she could've just slashed his tires or written him a strongly worded letter at the very least. Not commit murder or turned him into a feast. We're all accountable for our actions. Just as he was with his when it came to playing around with her feelings and not taking the steps needed to keep her out of his and his kids lives.
She is the one who chose to end him in this way. No one told her to. At that point there is no reason to feel any sympathy. Especially considering the fact this action of hers likely hurt his kids a lot. Broken people can cause just as much hurt to others as someone who has never experienced living in a dysfunctional family.
Having a shit background doesn't take anything away from what some of these people have done to hurt others. It just perpetuates the cycle of abuse.
Many survive through some really traumatic childhoods and never hurt soul. Though I don't feel for John, I don't feel for Katherine either since what he did to her wasn't nearly as bad as what she did to him.
Did people around her fail her? Yes. But regardless of what he did to her on an emotional level, what did his daughters do to deserve losing their father? It's hard to sympathize when she didn't even take them into consideration. This is a man whose daughters she adored and planned to care for prior to any of this mess and she turned around and hurt them.
Also we're only getting Kathrine's side here. You should take into consideration that we know little of John's story based on this video.
"She wasn't in the best state of mind." Doesn't fly when she had plenty of time to prepare, think it over, and choose not to so it. If it was sudden, yes, I'd sympathize a little but this was planned.
Edit: That said, I am also from a troubled/abusive past. I don't think your intention was to excuse her actions but I get kinda relating to it. Just find it weird to sympathize with someone who didn't think of the innocents involved. They had to go through their parents divorce and then they had to accept the lady who cared for them murdered their father. It's a bit fucked up.
Edit #2: Read more up on Kathrine. She had a history of being violent with her partners. He shouldn't have stuck his dick in crazy but she was not at all innocent in this. It's a good reminder that you are not responsible for fixing broken people. Sometimes people are irreparably broken and should be avoided at all costs.

I thought at first she might have served up his children in the dishes and then killed him. The success of Mr Ballen's stories is that he doesn't give any previous history of the guilty person, making it all the more shocking when we find out the truth which we had not guessed.

    • @TheAngryXenite
      @TheAngryXenite ปีที่แล้ว +1

The only issue, I think, is that he should have clarified at the end the early life details which would spoil the shock of what she did. Katherine Knight was essentially always volatile and abusive, both to partners and to random people. Her failed love life wasn't due to "just not being able to find a good man" but because she was a violent woman who would regularly assault her husbands. She has a rap sheet pre-murder that makes you wonder how she ever escaped prison time long enough to kill John Price.

You presented this in such a way that even though I knew most of what happened, you drew me in. In fact, you presented facts I don't recall ever hearing, thus this was definitely the best version of this case I have encountered. Fantastic job!

I recently start to watch older videos of MrBallen (once i haven't already seen), and this one pretty much stands up! It's really skin-crawling...also, combined with the MrBallen's unique way of story telling and facts interpretation - this episode really made a huge impact on me and some of my friends. It was like we needed some time to wrap our head around what we just saw!

Truly one of the most dark & mysterious stories I’ve ever heard on this channel! My family used to own a ‘butcher’s shop” & I can recall vividly the various forms of meat that my family had to cut up/butcher.Some pieces of meat could be done by hand, others a saw was needed. I can’t imagine nor want to think about Katherine’s ability to remove John’s skin ,I believe that you said she was able to skin him & basically leave his skin in one piece which is extremely hard (I’m comparing it to an animal & I know that there are many differences..but nonetheless gruesome) How she then proceeded to make a “Thanksgiving dinner” complete with name cards for seating for John’s children just adds to the utter depravity. The only consolation in this whole story was the harsh sentence that she received. Thanks Mr. B for yet another dark story, your story telling skills are bar none!

There is a whole lot of backstory related to this case, and it is one twisted and sick tale. I recommend the book "Beyond Bad : The life and crimes of Katherine Knight" by Sandra Lee. It is a great read, and the most accurate and in-depth account of the final incident, which is even more horrifying than this re-telling of the case.

Recognized this story from Bailey Sarian! Fascinating how two great story tellers tell the same story. Bailey's focused on the relationships in the killer and victim's lives and the emotional horror of the scene. Mr Ballen's telling covers more mechanics and the physical horror of the crime. Both very different while describing the same incident!

This is a pretty gruesome story. It's been covered on a bunch of other podcasts but it's probably worth also noting that people who knew her during her younger years said she was incredibly creepy. She literally decorated her house and apartment prior to moving in with John for the rusted animal traps large knives animal skulls. Etc etc and that set of tools she was so deeply attached to she actually hung above her bed.
