I had GERD, I got rid of it by doing a full elimination diet, no flour, no vegetable oils (especially canola oil), no artificial sweeteners or molasses, and no citrus. Sugar and fat is kept to a minimum and everything I eat is organic.

The one symptom that I have and which is recurring is the sensation of a lump in my throat + the excessive mucus/phlegm. The other symptoms aren’t that common for me. I was on medication for a slight lung infection then got cured. Then I, one day ate grapes & it felt like I went to war with my throat! I have to cut down on so much food, I’ve stopped drinking all carbonated drinks, stopped eating a lot of fruits cause they’re acidic, I’m Asian and love spicy food, can’t eat them now, can’t drink tea/coffee. I’m currently on a diet. I have gerd and sinusitis, it’s so much hell.

My two biggest triggers are Tomatos and oats. I used to eat overnight oats or hot oats for breakfast, and I would end up feeling so sick. It took me longer than I'd like to admit that that was an issue for me. Sometimes it's just trial and error to see what works for you.

I’ve had IBS-D for about 14 years now. Really sucks and it’s gotten worse every year. It’s made me pretty sad. But that pales in comparison to how GERD has affected my life. I’ve been more depressed from having GERD for the last year, than I ever have in 14 years of IBS-D.

My GERD has began to effect my lungs, causing bronchitis and leaving spots in my lungs that my doctor thought was emphysema which scared me to death. Went in today for another chest Xray and they determined my lungs are just inflamed, not emphysmatic. Switched to a bland diet today, starting with chicken, wild rice and broccoli, going to try that for 2 meals a day for a few days and see if that helps in addition to the medication my Dr gave me to clear out my lungs. It's helpful to see what works for others. Giving up coffee for a week may kill me, but I'm gonna try and see if it helps then slowly add it back if I absolutely need to.

I believe all those nachos (w/lime), bagel, pasta is processed food and shouldnt be in your diet. When having a GERD+acid crisis pesto, can be a bomb (lots of garlic and cheese). I recently read that when having GERD is usually for sure that we have IBS (irritable bowel syndrome), and legumes and nuts do not help, plus they have lots of antinutrients such as lectins.
