@@dalestanley9177yes they do! So many people mock it, act like it's not serious, trest it like it does nothing but slow things down a little, tell you to get over it, etc. It is demeaned by most people because they don't like to talk about it.
Maybe the answer is never explain your health problems to "people". If your spouse, parents, children or close friends demean you, sit them down and have a good heart to heart with them. Never attribute malevolence to what can easily be explained as being ignorance.
I admit that in the past sometimes I thought people were exaggerating when they spoke about digestive issues. But now that I have IBS myself, I realize how wrong I was 🥲
Yes, the struggles are real. I actually became a Functional Nutritional Medicine Practitioner because my daughter was on her way to full blown Ankylosing Spondylitis. Very few doctors understand this disease.. so I took control and we reversed her symptoms. She's no longer having a stiff and painful back. After her testing we discovered that she had pathogenic bacteria, Klebsiella Pneumoniae, Citrobacter Freundii.. ..and at that point it gave us the direction to work on.. and it took us about 3ish months to heal her intestinal permeability. The Low FODMAP is the beginning process diet as your gut lining regains structure and you nurture the good bacteria. When you have more negative gram bacteria, your gut cannot break down fiber so you will be bloaty and gassy. You need more good bacteria that can handle the breakdown of fiber.. and the enzymes to help. Stress takes a toll on your digestive juices.. because it puts you in a sympathetic mode. I encouraged my daughter to eat a lot of healing soups with low starch, primarily greens with chicken, cruciferous ..so long as she cooked it well for 6 weeks.. so that her gut could digest healthy nutritional foods more easily .. and digestive enzymes. Amongst other things we were able to rebuild the tight junctions in the cells that kept the lining of her gut intact. What I have learned truly is that the microbiome is, it is comparable to a beautiful rainforest. There needs to be balance and all of the bacteria work together to create digestion. When there is an imbalance you will struggle and one thing leads to the next. The liver is nutrient dependent so if your gut does not digest food or food proteins escape into your lymph or circulatory system, you will suffer from so many diseases because these particles.. will awaken your immune system and you will start to incur chronic inflammation. So yes.. heal that leaky gut. I am wanting to help more people now!
I think you were fortunate to find medical professionals who offered you tons of counsel. Sadly, doctors (in general) mostly want to “treat” illnesses via symptoms only, leading to prescriptions, which wreak havoc on the body even further. I wish you were offering us guidance on who to turn to.
Thank you for sharing your story. I have been struggling with chronic Ibs after food poisoning for the last few years. Today was a bad day and after doing well for a few weeks I felt very discouraged and fear that I’m moving backwards as I have to continuously cut things I enjoy out. It is very discouraging and anxiety Inducing. Ibs can be so traumatizing for the body and the mind.
The food phobia is so real. When you spend 6 months curled up in fetal position wishing you could die due to stomach pain you rightfully get very terrified of anything that might bring that back. The constant headaches and nausea, and I'm in Canada so there are vague promises of tests which never happen, so there is the constant worry in the back of your mind that it's something critical. Not having medical support is awful. My ordeal was after an exploded root canal, and funnily, the best thing I found was zinc, which I then changed to zinc L carnosine, and mastica. I pretty much bought up all the raw mastica in my area and then bought capsules. Of course a bout of food poisoning in the middle of it all, probably due to the weak tummy, really didn't help. I used to have a really healthy body and this just destroyed me, but hopefully slowly healing.
Stopped eating anything that contains sugar because sugar triggers migraines. So researched everything I love with no sugar eg peanut butter , Mayo etc.
I’m so scared to eat anything because the weirdest thing trigger my symptoms. I tried eating cleaner but eating spinach had me on the floor in the bathroom all night.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. I can relate 😮 I'm in the beginning stages of trying to figure out what's going on and am having a hard time with it. I feel fear of putting anything into my mouth but I am really hungry. Went to lunch with a friend today and I just broke down sobbing. I know others are going through this too and it's really draining. I'm so happy that you regained your health and can have a good relationship with food again. It gives me hope.
This was so helpful 🙏🏽🙏🏽 Often i hear people saying they healed their leaky gut in a few months and I’m 1.5 years in and still struggling to heal and I’m working with a functional doctor, a dietician, and an acupuncturist. So thank you for reminding us that some of our healing journeys will take longer and that’s okay. ❤️❤️
@@SomeoneHappyAndHealthy Thank you for the suggestion! I recently was diagnosed with hydrogen SIBO so we are finally getting somewhere and I am finally healing!
@@SomeoneHappyAndHealthy Yes, I definitely will. I know in some cases with SIBO they reduce your fiber at first as that feeds the bad bacteria so I will see what my doctor suggests.
Hi! I'm also struggling with my gut as I'm experiencing all the possible symptoms of an unhealthy gut since the pandemic began (or maybe more?? I was just unaware of my condition) but i hope you get better too..
Thanks so much for sharing your experience with gut health! I'm at the beginning stage of healing after three years of chronic stress and symptoms that caused even more anxiety. The food phobia you mentioned hit HARD. There used to be days where I did not eat at all because the pain and bloating were so bad. Still working on stress management and mental health, but I'll keep reminding myself that healing is not linear. May God bless you!
Just throwing this out there as something to think about….i am 70….when I was young, no one had issues such as these. No one took medicines either. Very few. Everyone was a good weight and ate peas and butterbeans. We only had one ‘chubby’ student in my high school, and they were not even fat.Today it seems that ‘everyone’ (many) are on meds from a young age. Anxiety meds, ADHD meds, meds for sleep, for depression. Then there is the explosion of fast food, including those with ‘healthier chicken’, which have been pumping hormones into our kids from an early age. I don’t want to cause a firestorm, but throw that out there as something to think about. There just seems to be a connection. It seems if we get to a healthier lifestyle, drinking lots of WATER, eating fruits and veggies, getting fresh air and sunshine and exercise, and turning away from all these meds, it seems things will improve. Just something to think about❤
Thank you for sharing your journey. I just met with a functional doctor to come up with a personalized plan for my digestive issues that I have dealt with for decades. You're giving a lot of hope to those on this journey of getting to the root cause of issues. ❤
This video is amazing. It calmed my anxiety around my newly diagnosed IBS. I was drowning in depression a month ago and I have slowly been learning to deal with a slow recovery. Still in recovery but getting better each day.
Congratulations for your perseverance and for sharing your story. As someone who has had allergies and digestive issues my entire life (I'm now 68) I totally relate to not only the impact these issues have on being able to function in one's life, but the mental health challenges that go along with having a reactive body that interferes with being able to function at even a minimal level. I've tried numerous remedies throughout the years. Things that used to help are no longer effective and I'm at the point now where I cannot eliminate all the things that trigger issues because pretty much everything is a trigger. Unless I get some kind of validation within say 3 weeks that something is working, I give up. Thanks for reminding me that it can be a very long journey. Living with a highly reactive body for so many years is a form of PTSD.
This is really helpful. I had no issues until last October. I had an intestinal infection that I was treated for but ended up with IBS symptoms afterwards. For some one who always had a cast iron gut, having a highly sensitive gut all of a sudden is very hard to adjust to. The idea that this may not be forever, that my gut can recover given time is the hope I needed. I know my doctor said recovery is possible, but I never really believed it.
As someone who started to have digestive issues within the last month or so, I am happy to hear that it may get better and that having one or two good days and then experiencing a not so good day (regression) may be a sign that I am on the right path. I have scheduled some appointments with my Doctors and hopefully we can get to the root of my problem and work on a solution. Thank you for sharing your journey, it’s very insightful and motivating.
Thank you for sharing, 7 weeks ago I was diagnosed with C Diff. Even though I've almost cleared the C Diff, I'm still suffering from diarrhea, I can't really leave the house because I always need the toilet close, I don't know what foods I can eat, seems like nothing at this stage. You mentioning Low FODMAP has given me some direction. I have been seeing a Chinese doctor, and now a naturopath. It seems to take so long so you have given me some help.
I was diagnosed with IBS a little over 2 years back. I won't say it's the worst disease because every disease is pathetic. The reason why issues like IBS are so frustrating is because you can't pop a pill for a few weeks and make it go away unlike some pretty scary but controllable lifestyle issues. In the past 2 years the good thing that has happened is that a I'm off regular medications now. I have not had IBS symptoms for a stretch of maximum 2 months though but now I don't need to go back to a full medicine dosage. I know this fear of food will take a while to go away, but it does. However, I'd suggest if you're in a stressful situation and have not had IBS symptoms for a while, avoid having any of the controversial foods. The stress might not be enough to trigger the symptoms but the food definitely will. Finally, I know I'll be better and I'll have a good life. As long as you keep on believing in that, things will have to get better no matter what.
I appreciate you telling us how much time it took you. I am a year into my healing journey after about 8 years of symptoms and learning I had celiac and parasites and gut dysbiosis. I have made major improvements since going GF and got rid of the parasites, however the gut dysbiosis just wants to keep hanging on and it’s discouraging…your answer gave me some hope and encouragement to stay positive. Lord Jesus help all who struggle with these health issues 🙏❤️
Loved this video so much. I'm currently struggling with IBS and I've watched a 1000 videos on it but this video gave me so much hope and calm. Thank you
Millions Thanks….I was once like you suffering from IBS. It took more than 10 kg out of my weight. But now I’m free like you although I’m still afraid to introduce gluten and milk back into my diet. Please stay strong and healthy….May God Bless you…
thank you for sharing this! i’ve had gut health issues for 2 years now and it is just so awful and i think i have ibs, so sorry to others who are struggling with this too.
“It takes time”. I needed to hear that. I finally feel like I am on the right diet, supplements, and health regimen, but I still feel bad. The only thing I feel I am missing is time…
@@Pulga232I’m feeling much better than I was last year. I have been seeing Dr Yu at Prevention and Healing in St Louis and I have seen a significant amount of improvement. I still need time though.
Thank you for this! Great video! Been sick on and off 15 years with IBS and the last 6 months has been hell. The part about it taking time, induces hope!
This the video i needed right now Going through post infectious IBS right now It's a very difficult journey & no one actually understand what you are going through.
This made me cry because now I feel like there is hope.Ive had IBS for three years since taking an antibotic for 4 days and I wish I never did. 💔 I'm going to try to keep pushing.
Did the antibiotics cause it? My doctor wanted to blindly put me on antibiotics for SIBO without giving me the breath test first to make sure I actually need them and that scared me
@@hellojoe9946 You’re doctor is talking about xifaxan. Apparently it only works in the small intestine, so your normal colon flora won’t change. He’s saying skip the breath test because they are pretty inaccurate, but if you respond well to it, it’s safe to assume SIBO
Same here girl, same here. I had a vaginal infection that spread to the urinary tract. My GP prescribed an antibiotic powder for urine, and my gynecologist prescribed antibiotic tablets on the vagina. Since I stopped the treatment (like two weeks ago) I have been constantly bloating, my intestines are burning and it seems to be getting worse every day. I really hope I won't end up developing IBS.
One of the best, most insightful, comprehensive & compassionate videos I’ve seen about the gut healing process! Sharing your story here will undoubtedly help so many others. :)
Your experience with orthorexia sounds so similar to mine, thanks for opening up about it. It's great that you can enjoy all kinds of foods nowadays. This channel has reminded me to be less strict with it. I have struggled with IBS for a few years now. It started with a stressful job, and didn't ever go back to normal ever since. I did the low FODMAP diet in the beginning of this journey while I was still working in the same place. My gut got better as soon as I started it, it took maybe like a week of complete recovery. But after some time there was a change that happened in my workplace that put massive amounts of stress in me and my stomach started to change it's appearance after that, it started to look like I was permanently pregnant, and the bloating persists to this day (with more or less diarrhea). There are periods when it's worse and sometimes it's not quite as bad, but it still doesn't completely go away. I have been long periods on the low FODMAP diet thinking it would cure it but it hasn't. I made a mistake of listening to doctors instead of doing my own research and maybe getting help for this sooner. Right now I have successfully reintroduced FODMAPs back into my diet and I have been so happy and relieved to be able to enjoy food again (while still trying to maintain a healthy diet). Do you think I could get help from supplements like L-glutamine and antimicrobials? I'm trying to get my hands on these and try if they work. Fasting has also been somewhat helpful.
I love coming back to this video. It’s so helpful. Makes me feel less alone and hopeful. I just wanted to share that after 2 years of struggles, research, testing, and trying everything I can, I believe I am finally in the part of more good days than bad days. :) I am sure I’ll come back and watch your video again for another courage and perseverance boost. Thank you. ❤
I've been struggling for several years. I've been to the doctors but i wasn't persistant enough and now my symptoms have taken turn for the worse again. I am ready to take this more seriously this time and not give up. Thank you for speaking about being patient and the mental toll it can take. My main problem (besides gut issues) is my health and general anxiety. Thank you for giving us hope and making us feel seen.❤
Oh my goodness! What a journey you went through! So glad you made it to health! I had terrible issues like you described for a year and a half after covid… I was desperate… cut all sugar, all dairy, added probiotics and supplements~ all of which helped a little but it wouldn’t stop… it was so difficult, painful and draining. Then I found videos on 3 day fasting w electrolytes… I did it.. even after the first time a huge difference and the. I continued for months after (3 days a month) and it completely healed ALL the issues 😭 Now, I’m a BIG believer in fasting. Just wanted to add this here in case someone is still struggling. Your point of keeping hope for health is so important and totally identify w at first being afraid of foods. One thing about living today is that there is a wealth of information from people who’ve been through all kinds of things that we can learn from and try~so I commend you for making these videos! 💜
@@cindyfields5170 Dr. Berg has videos on 3 day fasting (first ones I found) and also I love Dr. Mindy… she’s very in-depth on fasting for women (which is a little different than men bc of our hormones/cycle… she covers all ages of women) She has a great book called Fasting Like A Girl
Thank you so much. I don’t know how I came across this video because I don’t usually watch things like this but bless the algorithm! I am in rough spot with severe food fears due to pain etc and this is a great reminder!! Thank you
I'd like to add that there's plenty of evidence that gluten has an inflammatory effect on your gut. And that exercise might be one of the most effective "tricks" to improve gut health. 30-60 min. exercise, makes your gut grow beneficial bacteria, to help you regrow your gut health. I was on low fodmap for 4 years, it stripped my gut from the good and bad bacteria, but it was difficult to start eating various foods again. Exercise, helped me to get to that stage.
This is such a hopeful presentation. I am struggling with SIBO-C. After 2 years with so many protocols and practitioners it can feel hopeless. So thank you for sharing your journey. I’m so thankful you’ve made it through such a difficult season and back to a healthy relationship with food and symptom free!
I had C-Dif for well over a year after taking an antibiotic for dental work. I have celiac disease which requires a special diet. Just diagnosed with SIBO and given antibiotic which has me feeling better. As soon as I am finished antibiotic, doctor told me to take probiotic with L. Reuteri. I had never heard of SIBO before being diagnosed with it but do know now that I was eating things that were horrible for it. I had red onion with just about every meal…love it…but not good for SIBO. I am so thankful for indoor plumbing and do want to be thankful for inside plumbing too. Glad you found a solution for you. You look great!
Congratulations on your healing and thank you for sharing. One Cinematographer tip. You mostly pivot your head to your right (looking to the left of the screen from the viewer’s perspective. As such, try flipping your lighting set-up, or if it’s window light, try flipping your set-up. This way the light will reach your far-side cheek… since you are so consistently pivoting your head towards the shadow side. Not a big deal so no worries, just thought I’d share :)
i love that you mentioned several times that this journey is totally unique and it may not be for everyone. For instance, fermented foods and any probiotics can have really negative effects for neurodivergent people, especially those with autism.
Hi! I've been struggling heavily with IBD for a year. It's definitely not the same thing but I think it might have some similarities when it comes to food intolerances. Thank you for opening up about food phobia, whenever I'm in relapse I get obsessed about something new that could help and end up stressing about what I can or can't eat. Last year it's been food additives and animal products, now it's gluten. You definitely opened my eyes a bit about how dangerous my fears can be. I'm gonna have to step down a little but try eating healthy but not make it 1# priority that overshadows my joy of eating.
I’ve struggled with IBS with constipation for over 20 years. I’ve come to think that I don’t have any specific food triggers. Even drinking water has triggered it. Sitting for too long can trigger it. Not getting proper sleep can trigger it. Sipping a warm beverage can trigger it. Sometimes the foods that cause the least issues are the most unexpected (like a grilled cheese sandwich). Probiotics have never worked for me. And I’ve always eaten amble fiber. I did struggle with orthorexia and anorexia during my freshman year of college because the only way to control the symptoms was to not eat. It’s a daily struggle. I basically have to read how I’m feeling from the moment I wake up. If I don’t have a movement in the morning, I’m basically screwed for the rest of the day and will most likely have bad symptoms. But I have symptoms regardless. There are times I have to go into the break room at work and lay on my stomach on the floor with a pillow under my abdomen to apply pressure and attempt to dissipate a painful trapped gas bubble. I’ve had some that are so painful I can’t stand up. I can look several months pregnant when I bloat. It causes me so much low back pain as well. It’s such a constant battle and it has controlled my life for so long. I was never tested, I was diagnosed at 15 or 16 based on symptoms. At this point I can’t afford a bunch of testing and to see specialists. I just always pray that some day I will find the right herb, or the right routine that finally gives me normal digestion.
I don't know if this will help, but no harm in watching a 1-minute video after all the things you may have tried in the past 20 years. Hope you recover soon: th-cam.com/video/cglS_LxNhXE/w-d-xo.html
@@karichsahariana5638 I have not. From what I’ve read it increases stomach acid. I’m not sure how this would prevent the colon from becoming spasmodic and producing excess gas. I would also worry about it causing reflux.

I'm really sorry for what you're going through, Kira. I can't even imagine the amount of stress you experience on a daily basis. Have you ever tried psyllium husk? It really helps. If you feel like trying it, just soak a tsp of it in warm water and consume it once it swells up and gets jelly like. Try taking this daily on an empty stomach. I'll be keeping you in my prayers 💗

Especially since our diets are completely different.
I think that is what is referred to as a spastic colon. That was my diagnosis when I was 15. I am now full blown UC. Do everything you can to pause it now!!!
Good idea to watch this video for encouragement. I'm struggling with my gut health and experiencing chronic nausea since 2022. Working with a host of Drs to get on the path to better health. This issue is debilitating and I wish everyone success on their individual journeys. It's going to take time...
What helped me with my ibs, acid reflux, and ulcer was kefir and greek yogurt (raw and grass fed pasture raised), apple cider vinegar 1 cup water to 1 tb of acv 20 min before you eat, and bone broth ( pasture raised beef)!
I have no idea in France but I would look at the ingredients list and where is comes from. Make sure to not get anything from China. And also forgot to add licorice root tea or tablets.
Never had these kinds of problems until I went on a keto low carb (50 carbs/day or less) diet from 2021-2022. My gut is currently a mess, in addition to having folliculitis and boils on my skin, also massive insomnia. Have been working my way back for over a year, I noticed that certain foods, mainly the FODMAPS that you mentioned seemed to be the culprit. I so appreciate your recommendation to take it slow, as that has been a stumbling block for me. I also appreciate your experience, strength and hope about orthorexia, that definitely has been a key factor for me as well. I currently have been following an Ayurvedic approach, with input from practitioners in that field. Pitta dosha = highly inflammatory - following recommendations to help with inflammation.....it's a journey of understanding self, and allowing God to heal me. Maranatha
Hi Maranatha ! I think I am on the same page with you, I also did keto for 5 months and totally ruined my digestive. I had so much constipation that I was even bleeding. I am making progress but still not back 100% _ I am focused on eating lots of fermented foods, making my own yogurts etc… I hope you are feeling better !
@@thewinddrift1 Good to hear from someone who can relate, in many ways! I have been having the opposite problem as you.....diarrhea and very loose bowels. That's what a pitta dosha will get you. I am following the dietary guidance of ayurveda, but nothing else (yoga, pranayama, worship of deities, etc. which the Bible warns us about). I am finding that the ayurvedic dietary approach is helping me. Especially plantains.....they have helped tremendously with getting me firmed up again, so to speak. You might want to check out the vata dosha, and recommended foods. Vata is notorious for constipation. There is even a treatment that can be done that could help. Enema with sesame oil by an Ayurvedic practitioner. I had this done once before, and it was amazing. It can be done on your own too. Also, doing castor oil packs on your abdomen would probably help too. I am going to start doing that as well. Keto was definitely a land mine, and you don't hear too many people talking about how it wrecked them, just videos about how it's supposed to be the best thing since sliced bread. Let me know if I can supply any more info for you. Blessings, sis'
Oh man, you described my lofe a few years ago, until last year really. Thank you for this great video! I could relate so much to your story! I think it is so important to talk about this topic - especially as one often feels a bit alone with it. Unfortunately a lot of doctors don’t seem to take it seriously if you tell them you constantly have stomach pain. So it also took me some time to find a doctor who was able to help me - so for the ones still stuggeling- don‘t be afraid to change the doctor if you don‘t feel like you are taken seriously! At the beginning of my healing journey I was under constant stomach pain and also got diagnosed with lactose and fructose intolerance. Like you I tried to eliminate so many kinds of foods and I also ended up in a kind of food phobic state where I didn‘t know what I was „allowed“ to eat at all any more. And I also felt like I would never be able to eat normally again. But as you say it is so important to try to keep a healthy relationship with food and not be afraid of it and just try changing things in small steps. Looking back what helped me most was probiotic supplements (I really noticed immediatly that symptoms got worse if I forgot to take them for a day) and a balanced healthy diet. Especially reducing sugar as much as possible and trying to eat more whole grains instead of foods with white flour, reducing processed food, including more plant based protein like legumes - but like you said step by step- and trying to include probiotic (fermented) foods like joghurt, sauerkraut, kimchi in my diet every single day made the biggest difference! It took quite a while but it fels so good to see how symptoms get better and better after a while! Today I barely ever have stomach pain any more and my fructose intolerance is also nearly gone- so I can enjoy fruit again which wasn‘t possible for years! So I just also want to tell anyone who is still struggling- it can get better- you can do it!
Hi @@champagnaesmith3760 🙂 I live in Austria and I am not sure if this Probiotic is available outside of Austria too- it is called „Omnibiotic“. But I am sure other brands also have good probiotics- you just have to try it out for a few weeks to see if it really works for you. For me also eating probiotic food like kimchi and sauerkraut every day really helped- so I think store bought probiotics are not the only option - even if they did help me a lot in the beginning. Hope this helps ☺️

I’m on the same boat right now since last year. I went on a triple therapy for h-pylori then sibo. I’m still trying to heal and left with so many symptoms. It’s actually a very lonely journey eventhough i have such a supportive partner.
I’m with you, had the triple therapy for h pylori a couple months ago and now trying to heal sibo and dysbiosis. I’m struggling with chronic fatigue and bloating
I can also relate. Severe leaky gut and it’s been 2 years and still having pretty bad symptoms, acne being one. We have healed a lot but i guess my guess was pretty bad. It can be very lonely even with a supportive partner. I have definitely felt depressed and anxious at times. Sending love. ❤️
Same here...went on triple therapy few months back,am not trying to treat SIbo and dysbiosis....I'm always uncomfortable with so much gas movement in my small intestine, most times It feels like something moving inside my intestines and it scares me...lots of pains in my body and acne
I have been living with complicated health and social relationship since 2011. The issue is just you mentioned on this video. I thought, I came to this world with natural defect like born with loss of vision or hearing. I developed fear of eating food as a normal person. Once upon a time, I read articles about this kind of problems that might come because of gene defect which helps to degrade amino acids and it’s byproduct ammonia. Today, your video opened my in sight for watching other options. Those years were terrible years in my life. Thank you
So glad you shared your journey, i am just starting mine after a C-Diff infection. Doing low fobmap diet, kefir, probiotics, bone broth, L glutamine and a prebiotic. So far so good. Nice to knew things will get better😊
Thank you so much for this!! I am currently transitioning into the fodmap phase 1....after having c diff.....so much to learn! But, I am already feeling so much better. This is a video of hope, which we ALL need at some point. ♥️⭐♥️⭐♥️
Meghan, I think you just changed my life. I've been struggling for years with food. I try different diets every few months when I notice a type of food that doesn't work for me. So far my list includes milk, garlic, xylitol and now gluten. A gluten free diet has been working tremendously for me the past couple of months, but the foods I mentioned still make me sick if I eat too much of them. This is the first time I've heard of FODMAPs and is the first time I see how they might be related. Thank you so much!
I am going to share this with a friend who is struggling. Thank you so much. And btw the way you look stunning! 🤩 Your health is definitely shining through. 💚
my ibs d started this year, at first I was really confused what caused it but I think it’s the result of having taken a lot of antibiotics in the last 3 years and isotretinoin + alcohol + sugar consumption… my symptoms are a bit better now since I discovered low FODMAP and digestive enzymes.. but in general as a 21 year old I feel it’s so hard to work on bettering my gut health while keeping up with uni and my social life (eg I don’t want to stop drinking completely since I would lose most of my friends and social life) but I’m trying to take it one day at a time and focus on slowly getting back to good gut health
What Jamie said is true AND you want to fix this problem NOW while you are still young because believe me, as you get older, your body loses many, many vital things like dropping estrogen and lower melatonin , etc and has less ability to fight off things that attack our bodies. Get as healthy as you can before you get to mid-life. And that can start early for some people. The environment is polluted with chemicals and pesticides and it is taking a toll on people at a much younger age.
You would do well to get into groups of people with similar health goals because it would be beneficial to your recovery and you'd feel free to be understood.
I had a spinal fusion in 2018 and ended up with double lung pneumonia so I was injected with a ton of antibiotics. This led to a ton of symptoms like diarrhea and anxiety. I am still to this day struggling but I feel like I am at the beginning parts of my healing Journey. It's just very hard to keep my stress levels under wraps because I have Muscular Dystrophy and live with my parents who both struggle with mental illnesses that contain outbursts and unpredictability. I also have PTSD from them and other things I've been through. Almost every day feels like I'm being electrocuted in my stomach and like I'm sitting in a running car, with that vibrating feeling. I feel Wide Awake but tired at the same time. I also think I had orthorexia before my spinal fusion. I struggled with constipation and horrible migraines but once I started eating healthy, I felt so much better so this led me to be obsessed with eating as healthy as possible. I would cry if I took a bite of a cookie or ate pesticides. I am now learning to let go but I don't want my microbiome to suffer. Thank you for sharing this video and giving me hope!
Read the comments and it reminds me of the hopelessness i felt when i was at my worst. All my test came back normal. Even did an endoscopy and colonoscopy. I had to find a doctor who was willing to treat me as if I had SIBO based on my symptoms. My only test that came back abnormal was heavy metals. I had a high arsenic levels. Supplements and natural protocols helped but didn’t solve it. Xifaxan was a life saver for me. Xifaxan plus Diflucan and plus omniprobitic eating AIP for a bit. It gave me my life back. I’ve been great for the last 8 years but still avoiding gluten. Now I’m starting to see eczema flare up so I’m looking for supplements to maintain or perhaps a reset.
Most of us have to remember that eating "like a normal person" is mostly what got us damaged to begin with. We subconsciously love the hell we're conditioned to accept and that is the biggest challenge without question. We must fix ourselves without having to fit in to a sick world... stay free🙏❤🇺🇲
this video is so helpful, you're so honest and relatable, something i really appreciatte now that i've seen hudredreds of videos on the topic, you give me hope!! thank u queen🥰🫶
I was diagnosed with IBS last year. It was mostly gas, bloating, and intermittent constipation and bulky, loose stools. The symptoms were bearable. But about 10 days ago I got severe constipation out of the blue, my diet hadn't changed. I even developed hemorrhoids and am miserable! I am very health conscious, walk 6 miles+ a day, eat properly, lots of fruits and vegetables, plenty of water, etc. I have made an appointment with a gastroenterologist and hope to heal. I have been doing my own research, and wonder about something called SIBO...
@@TheLuttrellHomestead Hi antacids is actually very bad . I love these videos that give u slivers of info. Like doctors that charge u money for multiple visits over 5 years and then give u the answer in 5 minutes. It's like telling someone to drink more water.
I found this video so encouraging and comforting. I was told i have IBS about ten years ago after doctors could find no answer for my chronic abdominal pain. I've lived with it since then and begun to get used to living in pain. Over the last six months my pain has gotten worse in a very specific area, again so many tests but no answers and i'm now taking morphine painkillers daily to try and get on with life. It would be so much easier if i at least knew what was going on, but i think the mystery adds so much fear and anxiety that i'm constantly worried about what it could be. I follow many people with health challenges on TH-cam, but no one like me that doesn't know why. It's a very lonely place to be. A private consultant wanted to test me for SIBO but i can't afford it, especially as it's a lot to pay if it rules it out. Waiting for an NHS consultant takes so long.
If you think sibo testing is expensive, your symptoms are not severe enough, get a second job. By the way sibo is not a condition its just a symptom, took me 5 years and countless research to figure that one out. Good luck
I was also told I had IBS for many, many years. I finally had a doctor tell me about the fodmap elimination diet. I was overwhelmed by all the things I would have to give up, so I just removed gluten and improved immediately. A lot of people feel better after giving up gluten even if they don't have celiac.
@@kristinakorovina5551 Not everyone feels well enough to do that but that is one of the less expensive test so a second job for not super long if one can

this video is awesome. im at the having good days a bad days maybe good days a bit more than bad but it used to be allll bad days for years. I have to say taking probiotics and fiber started the healing journey for me and of course diet. it can feel hopeless at times but I hope for anyone who reads this, it does get better with time.
Excellent video. I've been ill with SIBO for over a year. I've probably had IBS for most of my life. The past year has been debilitating to say the least. You gave me hope. Thank you.
None of that did one bit of good for my IBS or acid reflux. Did every bit of it, zero help. Cured it all after a month on the carnivore diet. No IBS, no acid reflux, no hunger issues; never felt better. Unfortunately I hated the diet, it was a nightmare to eat nothing but meat and eggs every meal. But it definitely reset my gut to where I was able to incorporate many foods back in, some of them treats that were terrible for my gut, and I'm stable at around 75-80% of where I was on carnivore. A balance I can live with.
Digestive Enzymes helped me so much! I did a diet removing triggers, but still the enzyme digestive, ACV in case, help so much. I take it with almost every meals
I've been ill for years with chronic IBS, hiatal hernia, colitas yada yada yada more results soon 😂 Drs and dietiacians I've seen (I'm in the uk) just tell me what i should do, hand me leaflets but never come back and help with how. I have a crazy restricted diet and my nutrition is really bad. They say i have food phobia but its cos most things do actually make me sick. Anyway, i randomly came across your channel and saw this video...spooky! Thanks for sharing your story and to anyone reading...we can do this! Just keep swimming x
Thanks Meghan! The more I read the more the healthiest way seems to be to eat as plant-based as possible. In my case, I have t say than much less severe than yours, minimizing meat/chicken and dairies, as well as refined carbs, shifting to a (balanced!) plant based diets changed my life! Thanks for your very informative videos on this matter; contributed significantly to my 'what I eat in a week''
This was helpful in giving me a timeline of how long healing might take. I have just treated h pylori and last year was diagnosed with methane SIBO. I was treated for SIBO with herbals and experienced improvement in symptoms but I don’t feel healed, and sure enough my retest was still positive for SIBO.
I healed my gut and digestive issues in less than month by stop eating vegan and ate heavy on beef and beef fat. From the moment I bit into the meat after two decades of vegetarian/vegan eating. my whole body came alive. It felt like it was exactly what my body was begging for. I suffered gut and digestive issues every single day. Horrible, gas, bloat and stomach pains. I rationalized that these issues were normal because I ate so much fiber from an all plant diet. No!! There is nothing normal and healthy about feeling that. I feel lucky I wasn't so brainwashed about this vegan way of eating that when I was presented with some hard facts about that way of eating I was able to be open-minded enough to change. I have been eating a heavy animal foods diet for 3 years now and I have never felt more healthy and vibrant. No gut or digestive issues. My skin is dewy and glows, compared to my dull, dry skin that always broke out it rashes before. I don't suffer from the skin rashes anymore either. I don't take naps and have crashes the way I use to. I learned when you put nutrient dense foods in your body, the body will heal itself and function optimally. Think back to what humans ate before food was grown and shipped from all pockets of the planet. .
Your story is why I always say there’s no one diet fits all. Every body is different. One needs more meat, other need more vegetables. One needs less carbs, other needs to fast more. I’m like you, except I have issues with fruit than I do with vegs. Meat is the only thing that doesn’t upset my stomach unless I eat too much. It gives me energy and leaves me satisfied, not hungry for more to eat.
I tried full carnivore for 3 weeks but my stomach pain was really bad, so i added foods back in. Always felt not hungry but just never satisfied after a meal. Definitely have problem breaking down protein. Do great with fats, but even adding small amount of carbs brought immediate satisfaction. I am tolerating foods better already though, it sure takes time. Thanks god my sibo is constipation not diarrhea
Thanks so much for sharing your story. Beautifully done . I agree with you it is a good thing to evaluate our relationship with food after a long journey back to health. The placebo effect can be very powerful too, so it’s important to explore & just bring some joy back to eating. I wish you all the best going forward ❤
The medical industry would rather you don't heal you gut. Great information!
It is true, I am fed-up taking pills to ease the symptoms but not the cause.
How can we capitalize like they do
I feel bad because i feel that people demean digestion issues 😢 I hope everyone feels a little less lonely
Mostly react that I am being lazy
no they don't as it's common and not a taboo subject

Just go carnivore bro
Stopped eating anything that contains sugar because sugar triggers migraines. So researched everything I love with no sugar eg peanut butter , Mayo etc.
I’m so scared to eat anything because the weirdest thing trigger my symptoms. I tried eating cleaner but eating spinach had me on the floor in the bathroom all night.
Have you improved at all?
Try to also incorporate naturals teas in your daily life especially senna teas do not make them strong.

Just something to think about❤
its very scary and now i dont even know what water i good for me tap, alkaline, purified, im so confused
interesting take! nowadays people's lifestyle is just so awful
Don't listen to doctors they out to get you
As someone who started to have digestive issues within the last month or so, I am happy to hear that it may get better and that having one or two good days and then experiencing a not so good day (regression) may be a sign that I am on the right path. I have scheduled some appointments with my Doctors and hopefully we can get to the root of my problem and work on a solution. Thank you for sharing your journey, it’s very insightful and motivating.
Do you still feel like you’re making progress? I’m trying to tell for myself. Wishing you the best!
Don't expect help from doctors...they seem pretty useless imho
Thank you! 🙏🏻 It feels less lonely, less overwhelming and gives me some hope grounded with the notion that it will take time
Thank you for sharing, 7 weeks ago I was diagnosed with C Diff.
Not my crying in pain watching this. So excited to try this!
I appreciate you telling us how much time it took you. I am a year into my healing journey after about 8 years of symptoms and learning I had celiac and parasites and gut dysbiosis.

Thank you. ❤

Exercise, helped me to get to that stage.

i love that you mentioned several times that this journey is totally unique and it may not be for everyone.
How to you work out what it is you are intolerant to ?
I just always pray that some day I will find the right herb, or the right routine that finally gives me normal digestion.
have you consume betaine hcl?
I don't know if this will help, but no harm in watching a 1-minute video after all the things you may have tried in the past 20 years. Hope you recover soon: th-cam.com/video/cglS_LxNhXE/w-d-xo.html
@@karichsahariana5638 I have not. From what I’ve read it increases stomach acid. I’m not sure how this would prevent the colon from becoming spasmodic and producing excess gas.
I would also worry about it causing reflux.
@@karichsahariana5638 I do not suffer from acid reflux, I suffer from Irritable Bowel Syndrome. It affects my colon, not my stomach. It has nothing to do with stomach acid.
I’ve only started seeing a gastroenterologist for what is now known as spasms in my large intestines and having procedures. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experiences that I can relate to. Helps to gain perspective when you don’t know anyone who shares your symptoms. Other then family with diverticulitis which isn’t quite what I’m going through.

What helped me with my ibs, acid reflux, and ulcer was kefir and greek yogurt (raw and grass fed pasture raised), apple cider vinegar 1 cup water to 1 tb of acv 20 min before you eat, and bone broth ( pasture raised beef)!
Where to find all those things in France?
I have no idea in France but I would look at the ingredients list and where is comes from. Make sure to not get anything from China. And also forgot to add licorice root tea or tablets.
I’m so nervous to try Kefir because I’m severely lactose intolerant & don’t wanna go through those pains 😭

I suffered with IBS until i started taking the Mannatech products, then the IBS went away, and last year i was very sick with my stomach, did an endoscopy and found out i have gastritis and a hiatal hernia .. i got better, but i still have symptoms and it makes me really sick at times😔. What a nightmare! Having digestive problems isn't funny at all, and sometimes people like certain family members get irritated with me when i don't feel well 🤷♀️. I guess when you're healthy, you don't get it .. we don't choose to be sick and feel like death, it just happens unfortunately😔

Yes, vegetable is important
What probiotic worked for you?

What are some of your symptoms
What did you take?
I can also relate. Severe leaky gut and it’s been 2 years and still having pretty bad symptoms, acne being one. We have healed a lot but i guess my guess was pretty bad. It can be very lonely even with a supportive partner. I have definitely felt depressed and anxious at times. Sending love. ❤️
Same here...went on triple therapy few months back,am not trying to treat SIbo and dysbiosis....I'm always uncomfortable with so much gas movement in my small intestine, most times It feels like something moving inside my intestines and it scares me...lots of pains in my body and acne
I’ve had major stomach issues since I was around 16 ….and I’m 36! I enjoyed your video!
Mine started at 16 and I'm now 31, living so mmay years with this is actually awful
Oh my god. This is what I am going through right now and for over a year. 😢 Thank you for this video. It helps to hear other share their story.
Congrats on your healing journey
Meghan, I think you just changed my life. I've been struggling for years with food. I try different diets every few months when I notice a type of food that doesn't work for me. So far my list includes milk, garlic, xylitol and now gluten. A gluten free diet has been working tremendously for me the past couple of months, but the foods I mentioned still make me sick if I eat too much of them. This is the first time I've heard of FODMAPs and is the first time I see how they might be related. Thank you so much!
Yayyyyy! Another video of someone telling there story only to paste a link to something charging you money. So genuine!
I am going to share this with a friend who is struggling. Thank you so much. And btw the way you look stunning! 🤩 Your health is definitely shining through. 💚
I m struggling with IBS I can't even drink water😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢after watching this I think can also recover one day and that day will come
my ibs d started this year, at first I was really confused what caused it but I think it’s the result of having taken a lot of antibiotics in the last 3 years and isotretinoin + alcohol + sugar consumption… my symptoms are a bit better now since I discovered low FODMAP and digestive enzymes.. but in general as a 21 year old I feel it’s so hard to work on bettering my gut health while keeping up with uni and my social life (eg I don’t want to stop drinking completely since I would lose most of my friends and social life) but I’m trying to take it one day at a time and focus on slowly getting back to good gut health
You don’t need to drink to have friends; plenty of young people don’t drink and have friends.
What a loser. You're friends must be fake. Heck you're fake
You would do well to get into groups of people with similar health goals because it would be beneficial to your recovery and you'd feel free to be understood.
If that's true.... Then your friends SUCK!!!! Rid them!!
Thank you for sharing your story, it’s really good to know, I’m not alone, that is a long journey for sure . It’s giving me hopes 🙏
I’m in a similar position raven. I had a spinal fusion and deal with a lot of pain and other health issues.
You have to read "super gut" is a book from Dr.William Davis.

Great video! I’ve watched a lot of these videos and this one has been the most helpful so far. Thanks for sharing your journey.
Oh my gosh I haven't been diagnosed but THAT is my symptoms and my Dr only gave me anti acids and prebiotics 😭

How are you now?
Hi Jo, have you looked into endometriosis?
If you think sibo testing is expensive, your symptoms are not severe enough, get a second job. By the way sibo is not a condition its just a symptom, took me 5 years and countless research to figure that one out. Good luck
I was also told I had IBS for many, many years. I finally had a doctor tell me about the fodmap elimination diet. I was overwhelmed by all the things I would have to give up, so I just removed gluten and improved immediately. A lot of people feel better after giving up gluten even if they don't have celiac.
I would definitely experiment with food, everything we eat affects the gut soo much
@@kristinakorovina5551 Not everyone feels well enough to do that but that is one of the less expensive test so a second job for not super long if one can

Girl yes, im so happy you shared this!
What an angelical voice
Think back to what humans ate before food was grown and shipped from all pockets of the planet. .
What was your sickness?
I feel the same too. We can get elk here and it has made me so healthy
Can you give an example of what you eat? Do you include dairy?
I was exactly looking for this video , thank you Meghan!
Thanks so much for sharing your story. Beautifully done . I agree with you it is a good thing to evaluate our relationship with food after a long journey back to health. The placebo effect can be very powerful too, so it’s important to explore & just bring some joy back to eating. I wish you all the best going forward ❤
