because the producers thought the world wasn't ready for an on film AMBW romance at that time. Remember this is one of the very first major Hollywood movie that features a black woman and an asian man as main cast. There weren't even many black+asian films before that, but to make the first AMBW hollywood film, they were testing new grounds, so they focused more on the action than the romance, just to be safe.
@@kenhew4641 I think they should've taken that leap of faith. It's not unrealistic for a Black woman and an Asian man to be in a relationship, you know?
I get what you're saying though; it happened with Star Wars (Han Solo was originally Black, but Lucas felt the world wasn't ready to accept an interracial relationship).

@@kenhew4641 I thought they handled it properly which is focusing more emphasis on action > romance, even though it was technically "shit" action to a certain degree (Dont get me wrong, Jet Li is still impressive in the movie) due to the mixture of unnecessary CGI instead of Jet Li doing the actual stunts which Jet Li is more than capable of?

I dated them before the movie. I’m Vietnamese+European mix and an American. Started as young as 3rd and 5th was a official relationship.

Now that I look back at the Romeo must die what is the movie that was very impactful not only among the Asian and the black community mostly the black community. And I think it was one of the fewest movies I’ve seen where it’s actually the black gang versus Asian gangs but I was young at the time so I’m sure they were more.
