Yep, hqprop 6x4x3 as I don't have many 6" props handy. I could use a 6x5 APC from my glider but the new 1900kv motor should be here in a couple of weeks anyway. Then I'll use the same 7x4.5 bi that are on the Dragon.
I've improved on the air scoop and exhaust since the initial build, so there's plenty of air flow to where my DJI vtx is up front. (See build video of dolphin#2). If you have yours down the back hatch it would be worth considering air flow there too. I don't think colour of foam makes much difference.
It handles very nicely and efficiency is amazing. Once I put a 35A motor on, I'll give it a proper run but liking it so far! If the bigger intake and extra exhaust doesn't do the trick I'll put a heat sink on. CG is already slightly forward but the new motor will help.
The Dolphin is way sleeker and lighter. I wasn't paying much attention to current draw during maiden, but I'd guess half the current draw for a similar speed compared to the DartXL. Especially at higher speeds where the Dart has more drag. I'll try and pay more attention next time! :)
No, I didn't like the low rates from Auto tune so I reset and did my own. I attached a diff file here: www.rcgroups.com/forums/showpost.php?p=48110647&postcount=1113
Yes, just a bit of extra protection against voltage spikes, ripples from the ESC and having long battery leads. Especially for analogue vtx, it will help with ESC noise.
Great looking aircraft. Keen to learn more about her. :)
Love it Zak! Looks like a pretty stable flyer champ. 👍a Bloody beauty!
Nice one guys, a non dramatic maiden Zak! What's up man lol!! Look forward to some epic vids with that cracker of a plane.
Well, it was either going to fly, or be a few seconds of splat. :)
Very nice. Didn't know they did a Black version. Was it a 6" prop? Just thinking 4S on a 6" Bi-Blade might work better till a stronger motor turns up.

iNAV 3.0 sounds tasty, keen to see how you get on with it....Out there in FPV heaven...🤔🤔🤔😳😀🇬🇧🇬🇧
How is the heat buildup on the black dolphin? The black dolphin looks better but I worry my VTX and electronics might overheat when flying in the sun.

How do you like it over all? For the overheating you could do that radiator hack I have on mine on Air Unit (posted on RC Groups ;) )

Nice video. How does the glide/efficiency compare to the zohd dark xl?

Hi did you use auto tune could you post diff as my dolphin torque rolls like mad

If you use the same shake to wake technique so the motor is not ramping up after you throw it, this should minimise torque roll...
Only problem with black is it's hard to spot from the air :)
But I put red stripes on it! :p
@@ZaksterBlue Perhaps it needs some hot pink.
do you reccomend using the capacitor?

İts epp or epo ?
EPP, good quality, it's pretty tough.
@@ZaksterBlue thanks for reply
