Nice to see you enjoying my local roads. Ribblehead viaduct is an amazing sight sadly 27 men died building it my grandad used to drive ammunition trains over it in ww2 reserved occupation. Hope you enjoy the rest of your tour Pete seems to know his way round 😁

It's amazing how the head clears when you're just concentrating on piloting your bike.
There is no room for worrying about anything else but the task in hand.
Only the here and now matters, you think of nothing but the bike and the road ahead.
So relaxing, your usual problems just wash away with every mile you ride.

On a funny note, I take it your co-rider there isn't a seasoned Dakar veteran!

I think lockdown and the lack of travel abroad allows us to appreciate this country more. Never went to Somerset, South Downs etc...and we loved it,

@ 4:20-precisely I call it my Cycle-therapy leaving my home at dawn by me-self with no idea where I want to go, with little traffic on the main roads. I wish I had those sweet narrow country lanes you have. I have to travel some distance to find something similar.

I loved that - it seemed to pass in 10 minutes, thanks Richy, and Pete...you're a better man than me - the air would've been blue for the rest of the day if that'd been my bike in the ford. Those roads around Ingleton, Hawes and Buttertubs are my go-to's for a blast after work in summer. I love that you put your photos up at the end. You should produce a book of your photos, I'd buy it (not joking or blowing smoke up you...I'd love a coffee table book of your pictures).

Great video. That's what my wife and I did too. Get up early in the morning and go to west coast of Scotland or over the top, nothing planned, just get out on the bike, or bikes.

Exact same happened to my mate and me many years ago, in fact it may well have been the same ford after I saw you were near Ribblehead a bit later. We had 2 trail bikes lying down in it. Took us absolutely ages to get them up and out again and ended up completely soaked through. Think the locals leave it that way to provide them with a bit of viewing sport!

My stomping ground rich apart from the off road sections which are not for me would not take a 1250 cc bike off road but thats up to the rider. Tan hill pub been loads of times this pub in the summer months does not shut ! Butter tubs pass is better coming the other way than you did it can make my viffer howl up there !! next season you come up again i take all round there show you some cracking roads another great clip rich .

Did the exact same thing crossing a ford in Wales a good few years back on my R1100GS, bloomin' hard work getting it upright on that slippy stuff!

Well I'd never have the balls to take such big bikes over those sort of tracks, not being an off road rider, just too much weight for me to pick up again. That bike went down fast in the ford really did not expect it to go that easy. I only rode up into North Yorkshire proper 6 weeks ago came back down via Tan Hill Inn a very desolate place, it was absolutely packed with tourists but those roads just perfect for the bike. As soon as your mate went down I thought that wouldn't have happened at Tissington ford at Bradbourne Mill! Another great video thank you for the ride. Ride safe.

That’s a fair old day out...North York Moors, Bransdale and Rudland Rigg...then right over to the Dales and Buttertubs and up to Tan Hill.... Living in Thirsk the Moors are where Ido quick ride outs and Bransdale and the Rigg is a real favourite👍👍
Teasdales is a cracking bike shop in your town.
@@RichO1701e yeah...my main road bike is a KTM Superduke GT from there....also have a 690 Enduro from them for the little lanes around the moors...easier to manage than the GS and AT on Rudland Rigg etc👍

@peter English, have BMW check the BAars and the bolts as they are designed to shear when dropped too hard and then become a major job to drill out. Always walk the crossing before going in - heheh lesson learnt :-)

I walked it to Tan Hill from Edale and then onto Scotland on the Pennine Way. Might ride up there next time on the Bonneville.. hahahahahah
Cracking video. If I had dropped my bike it would be damaged,never mind dropping it twice and no damage.Its funny I live in Yorkshire and have recently been riding in your county for a change of scenery
Hi Richy, a great video, but to watch the GS go down twice was heart breaking. I was watching a maintenance video recently regarding lubing the final drive splines on the GS, and it transpires that there is frequently signs of rust in there as the rubber boot is not a watertight seal, and moisture etc can ingress in there even if the bike has not gone near a puddle. and can cause surface rust and stiffness of movement of the splines. Could I suggest that you ask Pete if he has looked in there, as I am sure it will have water in there and need draining and drying and spraying with one's favourite water repellent . Cheers Rob Stamp

Nice to see you like the Tan hill inn. When the weather is good it’s amazing up there. I visit there regularly when out on the bike. The back road from there to Kirby Stephen is amazing.
