    My father was a manual machinist from the late 40’s into the 80’s. What they did was amazing. This is just mind altering poof

    I wish you guys would show more about the UMC350HD. Like if it can fit a Pierson rotovise and use all of its available clamping surfaces and how big of a piece of material it can cut if using one of the Haas Jergins 5 inch self centering vise. Thanks much

      Josh Crips, We will be releasing another video about the UMC-350HD within the next couple weeks. Check this link for the dimensional info for the machine: www.haascnc.com/content/dam/haascnc/pdp_feed/mld/umc-350hd_mld_01_2023.pdf The Pierson Rotovise should fit the work envelope but you'll need to check the drawing to see if your particular parts will be within the travel limits. Click this link to check if the 130mm Jergens vise and your material will fit appropriately. www.haascnc.com/haas-tooling/mill_workholding/self-centering_vises/05-0400.html

    Closer to the high end machines, 2 turrets and B axis is the next step

    I purchased a DS-30Y a year ago and while it's a very impressive and capable lathe I enjoy using, I'd warn anyone interested in using the C axis or doing lights out automation work with it to wait until Haas works out the kinks. I purchased mine for lights out automation but we continually have C axis fail to engage issues that don't allow us to run the machine unattended. This is after 5 visits from haas service technicians, it's still not functioning as it was supposed to from day 1 and it's at the point where my HFO isn't getting support from the factory. It's a nice machine but don't buy one for any high volume production needs that require the C axis on either spindle.

      I encountered the same problem a few times... Sometimes it engages, sometimes it doesn't. I tried to put in M5 before calling M154. It helped, works fine and engages every time, but I don't know if it has to be that way.

      Wanted to comment here in case anyone has a similar issue. It's finally fixed. 10 Tech visits, 7 software updates, 1 year and the culprit was that the main drive belt wasn't properly tensioned. Our HFO did the best they could with the information and support they were given, I'm glad it's resolved and understand they had to go through the other troubleshooting steps first, but keep a lookout for this if your c axis fails to engage consistently.

    Very cool. Is it able to synch the main and sub spindle for turning between the two?

    Now take the ST55 and add dual BMT65 and dual 12 inch chucks with 50Hp. If you can make a VMT I know you guys can get this one done.

    Can you put a live center on the second spindle too ?

    • @ytfan3815
      @ytfan3815 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep, there are spring loaded live centres with cylindrical shafts like the Bruckner T-line series that you can mount in a collet or chuck.
      You don't need a constant (torque) pressure of the sub-spindle or lower turret if you have one, they are also available with morse, capto and VDI shank.
      Shafts are 1" (25.4mm) or 25mm - 32mm or 40mm.
      I had one in my lower turret but it's around €750 ($800 ) in Europe, maybe there are cheaper brands. 😉

    Why not use the same spindle and chuck on both sides like most others do? And add multitasking to the machine so u can machine both sides at the same time with one turret..
