    I did this back on my 2013 F250. I used my F250 factory plug that would have been used for the King Ranch light boards. People loved it so much, I made a few more for friends. Good post man.

    I did this with opt7 sequential strips on my truck.
    Btw, leds are diodes, that means they only get power one way so the extra wires "at the front" don't do anything, unless you mounted the strip backwards, then it's the rear that wouldn't do anything.

      I have those as well but haven't installed them yet. Where did you tie everything into for the power and turn signals?? Local shop wants $50 to put them in. I can't decide if I want to attempt it or pay the shop. Thx

    • @AceBoy2099

      @@scooterb43 mostly in the foot kick panel areas, mounted to the pinch weld (adhesion promoter and 3m double-stick tape, screws and clamps kept breaking, too small for the needed force to install) wiring went through the pinch weld at the rear of the front tires and into the floorpan through a grommet then tied into most of the wiring in the kick panels, I think I went into the door for the turn signals, but I dont recall.... it's been a little bit since I'd installed them.
      Edit: I did poke and wrap, tape and zip for the connections, I didnt use those crimp things.... and dont have a portable soldering setup to be able to get in there if I wanted.

    Just installed a set of Powerstep XLs on my F-150. I was very disappointed with the lights. The mounting is a bit different for the XLs with the "drop" rail, but I think something like this could be made to work under them. I'm definitely going to try!

      @@itsanubruh6492 Since the light mounting was a bit different on the Powerstep XL, I found some very thin, LED COB (chip on board) lights, about 8 inches long for each of them mounting in a rigid housing (IP67 rated). Was able to use the original wiring and the original mounting locations for the PowerStep XL lights. It's ten times more bright than the OEM lights. Thanks for the idea!

    I was impressed until you introduced the electrical tape, thats lame. Duck Tape even, with a skim of Silicone over top might have been a good idea, in order to protect the wiring. Electrical tape is good for nothing, in most cases, sure don't like Heat or Cold. I'll follow the rest of your tips ...Thanks for the effort.

    If your gonna use silicone to attach the double sided tape to the light strip, just do away with the double sided tape and silicone the strip directly to the truck and just use tape to hold it until it dries. Silicone is great for mounting objects because of its strength and bonding abilities. If I attach anything to a dash I use silicone instead of drilling holes to use screws. Need to clean that wiring up tho. Get some expandable loom off amazon and some shrink tube to make it look legit. Then get some black zip tie mounts and silicone them to body or frame and zip tie the wiring up and out the way.

    This looks awesome. I was doing something similar but I got some led strips that are pre wired on one side each. I am having trouble getting them to power on using the amp light harness. I still have one original amp light on each front end, and they still stay on. I am bad with electronic stuff. Do you think that I would have to solder new wires on the wireless end to have both ends connected to the amp harnesses? Sorry for the random question, you just seem to know what you are doing. I was thinking maybe if I unconnected the left over amp lights that are still connected it might help but I wanted a more qualified opinion before I started undoing stuff without a real plan.

    • @itsanubruh6492
      @itsanubruh6492  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for the very late reply. Hope you figured it out but I used a volt meter to test the strip and any power connection before I solder. Just make sure the power from the oem amp steps are giving power and then just solder power to power wire to the led strip that you provided. Lmk if that helps.
