did the same thing to a 72 chevy was the best improvement for a lifted 4x4 chevy pickup
Very good vid - I've been trying to find a kit for my 90 Burb and they are no where to be found. I knew fab was going to be the way because I've seen some custom rigs with the steps. They did not share their method. Thank you for taking the time to sort it out.

Thanks! They should be very close, I'd pull a tape off the frame and check to see. Should be within 1/2"

Very impressive. I had an 84 GMC 4x4 and didn’t think this could be done with the saddle tanks . Question, if a guy went with a blazer rear tank and removed the saddle tanks , would you be able to relocate the brackets in order to get the motor to tuck under better,or would there be no difference?
I don’t anything about these running boards and was wondering if you can locate the brackets where you want on the running boards , or is it a fixed area?
Yes, you could definitely hide the motor / tuck the running boards higher if it wasn't for the saddle tanks. I considered doing the rear blazer tank for that purpose, but we had already completed an LS swap on this and reconfigured everything to support dual saddle tanks. Still really happy with how it worked out.
@@midatlanticcustoms yes it looks excellent, you did one hell of a job. My 84 had a 6” lift with 35’s , and those steps would have been so helpful.
You mentioned engine. My biggest regret was not swapping the 305 out for an LS6 454. My 84 had a factory 4 speed standard , and 3.73 ratio in the diffs . I think a big block would have been perfect for fighting those tall gears

Interesting 🤔 did you buy a set for a bronco and make them work? Or do they make them specific for the blazer?
Did you drill through both sides of the frame and secure from the backside or thread them in? Edit: looks like you drilled through both sides and bolt came through the back and nut on the on front?
Drilled through the frame. Grade 8 bolt, nut, flat washer and lock washer. You could orient the bolt either way. I believe I have threads pointing towards the inside of the frame rail. Hope this helps.

Just found a set for $400! Going on my 83 K5 Blazer, I'm mounting mine to tuck up behind rock sliders. Its got about 10 inches of lift, one ton Dana 60 and 14 bolt axle swapped and 42" super swampers, and I'm getting tired of sitting on the rocker and pulling myself up by the A pillar lol... One question I have. Are you using the the amp research control module? I'm either going to find one or figure out my own series of relays
Awesome! Yeah I'm using the control module, wiring is pretty simple for it, you don't need obd2 or anything to operate them. I probably should throw together a quick video on the wiring. Just using the door switch to trigger the ground contact into the module.
I'll be waiting patiently on that vid. I scored an unopened kit for $500 and will be installing this weekend. Excellent write-up!

Hey man, did you install these with the use of the control module? Do you know if they can be wired directly to the switch without the power module?
Yupp, I used the control module. No need for the obdii connector. Two purple wires from the control module can be tied to the door switches to provide grounds for the step function. Planning to do a quick video on the wiring, just need to find the time!

@@trevorballard9495no, you need some sort of control module. The steps operate for a certain length of time each time the door is opened or closed. You can order the standalone control module direct from AMP. Wiring is pretty straightforward

Yes, and you'll probably have more room to mount since you won't have the saddle tanks interfering. Just have to find a good location to mount to the frame.
