    One of the most comprehensive videos I've seen on TH-cam for industrial engineering. My school didn't offer industrial engineering, so I went with mechanical, but I always wondered if they were the same thing. Your explanation was clear-cut and to the point👍

      Yea that does seem to be the case at least in North America and they are quite distinct. Thanks for watching!

    Here in Spain Mechanical engineering is a branch of the very broad industrial engineering. Our equivalent to the industrial engineering you talk about is organization industrial eng.

      hi.. I'm from Turkey. Can I get information about the status of industrial engineering in Spain? I know that the name of industrial engineering varies from country to country, but they do the same job in general terms. There is a department called industrial engineering in Turkey, graduates from there graduate as industrial engineers. Industrial engineering is one of the most popular engineering fields in Turkey, I wonder if this is the same in Spain?

    • @alexharper-291hzu
      @alexharper-291hzu 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If I understood your message correctly, industrial engineering in Spain is divided into branches. People choose one of those small branches and graduate from that department. In Turkey, there are no such small branches, you generally graduate from industrial engineering. If you want to specialize in a specific field, you can do a master's degree. I am very curious about how the industrial engineering system in Spain works because I have a dream to work there, I would be very happy if you could inform me.

    • @alextroy8692
      @alextroy8692 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@alexharper-291hzu Yes! No problem. Here in Spain there was really one type of engineering that was a mixture of mechanical, electrical, chemical...: industrial engineering; in which you studied machines, materials, electricity, thermodynamics, manufacturing technology... However, with Bolonia plan, bachelors where now 4 years (instead of 6), so people after finishing the BSc did a master in a certain branch to specialize.
      Indeed, you can specialize really the last year of the BSc, since you can pick all electives of mechanical, electrical, automation...
      As people wanted a system more similar to the USA and jobs started being more specialized, new BSc of mechanical, electrical, electronics and automation engineering appeared. But in reality doing these Bachelors is basically the same as doing the industrial engineering one but specializing in the 4th year.

    • @alextroy8692
      @alextroy8692 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@alexharper-291hzu Yes, industrial engineering in Spain is prestigious of being great. However, salaries are not that great as in other countries (not only industrial but all branches of engineering). Thats why a lot of people from Spain emigrates to get engineering positions in other countries. What I have yo admit is that industrial engineering Bsc IS one of the most challenging Bachelors, getting a big scope of everything, and having the oportunity to then specialize.

      I'm not an industrial engineering (IE) major, but I respect the work of IEs. We need IEs for quality control, production planning, ergonomics, workplace safety, and all sorts of other stuff.
      I hope most of the world's future IEs genuinely care about quality and safety, and not just making money or producing stuff quickly.

      ME is the way to go if you want to become a traditional aerospace engineer who designs and analyzes aircraft/spacecraft! If you simply want to work in the aerospace industry, either ME or IE would work : )
