I always thought "a former spectre" hits less hard, but thinking about it it's actually better. Shepard is so good at what he does that he doesn't need spectre status. Plus telling the council to screw themselves is so satisfying.

My shepherd looks exactly like that the only main difference is gender Renegade for life
Renegade options are so cool but i only use them on those who deserve it.
