Nice work! Regard the shirring, longest stitch length, loosen the tension, stitch attest 3 rows to see the shirring and, lastly steam it to shrink the elastic threads.
GOOD on you! I love seeing young Ladies sewing AND repurposing clothing. I love how your jacket came out, but everything is just wonderful. WELL done! 😊❤😊
For shirring elastic thread on bobbin, try using the longest stitch length instead of average or shorter length. Also, the more rows you do the better it works. Also, a light steam with the iron pulls stitches up a bit more. Keep practicing, it's really a fun technique for up-cycling. The jacket crop is perfect. I scored a suede one for $2 at an estate sale I've been contemplating cropping.
I was going to say the same! I remember seeing someone on the Martha Stewart show demonstrate shirring, and she used a spray bottle and then iron to sort of shrink the elastic and smoosh the lines together. I have my little spool of elastic but haven't tried yet! 😅
Love the skirt, especially the clean inside finish. For shirring: Keep stitching a few more rows next to each other for a greater effect, and finalize by steaming the area with your iron to shrink it in some more. Hope that helps.
Thank you for the videos I have just binged watched the entire morning while I was on my static bike (agony) and then while I sorted my sewing room. Very calming and mobilising 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😍😍
I was just the other day going thru my wardrobe and writting down what pieces need to be fixed/upcycled to match my style/body better now + for the upcoming year🤔 I love how you fixed the skirt🙌🏻 all 3 of them are really nice but the skirt is my favorite🤌🏻
That jacket came out so good and looks perfect now. You polished the diamond! If you would divulge what white marking pen you use there. I have not found what works to mark on black. It looked like it made a very clear white line. Wow. Chalk is not really working for me and other things have just not made a very visible mark.
thank you so much!! For the white pen, I actually just use a white gel pen. It doesn't come out of the fabric though, so you just have to be careful when marking it! Usually it will be covered with serging or bias binding in the end.
Hi, I'm 74, I wear the few clothes I have for years. Then they become crafts: doll clothes, ribbon, jewelry, home decor, and rags. My daughter gets bags of clothes from friends and I pick one or two items from each bag. Near Chicago, Tina, Al's wife
The shirt! I love how you wear the long sleeves -- that's what deters me from wearing men's clothing as oversized, usually, but you've inspired a second try
For the elastic thread I use regular thread and top stich over the elastic thread using a zig zag stich / pulling the elastic thread as you go . It should scrunch up enough but you can pull the elastic thread gently to make it scrunchier < new word lol
You have to adjust your bobbin tension and yes the bobbin does need to be pulled somewhat tight for the elastic thread. It takes a lot of trial and error to find what works best for your machine.. also I don’t know if you would have had enough elastic thread in the end it uses lots of the thread which is super annoying. I watched some good tutorials to do mine and still took a while
I really like how you go about things and show doing them on camera! The shirt idea is great, I might try it out myself! Also love your first outfit and your white top/dress from the second outfit:)
Love your upcycles, especially the jacket 🖤 Tips for the shirring: You need to use the white elastic you have. On my top loading bobbin Brother machine I have to take the throat plate off and make sure the elastic passes a little groove to ensure there is enough tension (a tip I learnt on a YT video that I can’t seem to find anymore) If you have a front loading bobbin you might need to tighten the bobbin case to get enough tension. Good luck x
On the blue skirt. Instead using all of the under skirt. I would use a lighter weight fabric then cut the under skirt the length you want then add to the lighter fabric. This way you won’t have so much bulk around your waistline and won’t be as heavy.
Nice work! Regard the shirring, longest stitch length, loosen the tension, stitch attest 3 rows to see the shirring and, lastly steam it to shrink the elastic threads.
Thanks for the tips!
Sewaldodiy is right. Also, each row makes it shirr more and more so you were probably doing good, you just needed to keep going
You completely changed the look of the jacket, great save!
Thank you! I wear it so much more now, it’s perfect!
You remind me of me when I was young😊 Have fun … you are creative and it’s amazing what you can come up with 🌷
Oh thank you!
love dat ik je kanaal heb gevonden!!! hou van deze content
welkom!

thanks for the advice! I'll have to try this :)

My first time watching you, I love to see remakes of clothes.
thank you!
I loved it when you said this is so satisfying.
😅
Absolutely 💯 brilliant! A new designer on the horizon ✨️ 😊🎉❤
Wow, thank you!
Just found you and love everything. I try to always up cycle to enjoy my clothes longer. 🎉
Thank you! And yes, if it’s possible to fix than it’s always the better route!
Love the skirt, especially the clean inside finish.

thank you! and thanks for the tip! I gave up too soon haha

Glad you like them!
You are so clever! I love your ideas! Congratulations
thank you!

it takes some work but something you won't regret!
Love the jacket and the shirt. the skirt is ok too😃
thank you!

definitely worth a second try!

So cute! Can you please share your playlist for your music you put on your videos?
thanks! I just chose some orchestral soundtracks from Epidemic Sound!
This is awesome. Busy working mom. I'm trying to get my creative juices flowing and your channel is a big inspo!
so happy to hear that!!
Love your upcycles here!
Also seriously obsessed with your brown sherpa cargo vest at 13 minutes! 😮 What brand is that or did you make it yourself?
thank you so much!! it's from an italian menswear brand called LC23!
I really like how you go about things and show doing them on camera! The shirt idea is great, I might try it out myself! Also love your first outfit and your white top/dress from the second outfit:)
Yes, you should! Thank you so much :) :)

thank you so much!! i have a top loading bobbin so i should look into that further, see if it'll work for me as well!
Brilliant work. So inspiring!
Thanks so much!
for shirring: did you try tightening top thread and bobbin thread too?? i too have a brother machine and it works for me
I didn't try the top thread! maybe that's something i have to experiment with

something i will keep in mind the next time i have a full skirt :)
The jacket is so cute 😍
thank you!! i really love it now :)
Love the alterations!❤
Yep, they're alterations not up cycling.
thank you so much
great video! btw about the shirring, did u use a zig zag or a straight stitch?
i ended up doing just a straight stitch, but maybe i should also try the zigzag?
@@eleanorstieva i think so! for me, it only worked when i used the zigzag! hope it helps :)
You deserve a nice big workspace!
hopefully one day!
I really like your vest. Where is it from?
the blue one was secondhand but originally from H&M and the rust coloured one is from an Italian menswear brand called LC23!
A welt pocket would have been sassy too.
true true
Did you check your bobbin tension ?
Yes i tried multiple ways but I just need to see what works with my machine best!
Try zig zag stitch
Oh you should have just put the pocket of the jacket inside - then you can just slip you phone in it..
i totally did not think of that, a good idea though! maybe next time haha
you had me at boob pockets!
😆
