  • As the title states, in this video I will show you how to swap cruise control into your non-cruise OBS Ford Truck. Ford used all the same wiring harnesses in these trucks. So the swap is plug and play. For this swap you will need the following parts:
    - Cruise control steering wheel
    - Cruise control servo
    - SPOUT plug
    You can find these parts in junkyards or on eBay. Otherwise there are no new parts available that I am aware of.
    These other parts are required for the full factory working setup.

    - Brake pressure sensor - amzn.to/3gFkkIy

    If you have an obs ford without cruise control, then it probably also does not have a tilt column. Column swaps are simple on these trucks and if you have a tilt donor just remove the column and install the whole column instead of pull the wheel. Get two upgrades with one job.

    Very good, easy to follow video! So I decided to give this a shot on my 1995 F-150. Got a used steering wheel on ebay. Got a servo and cable from a junk yard. Decided to jumper the pressure switch instead of installing the master cylinder and TSB harness. All went well, very much like the video, but the CC doesn't work. Horn works, no ABS light, brake lights work. Just looking for leads on how to trouble shoot what my problem may be. Bad steering wheel switches, clock spring, or servo? Any way to test any of these? Thanks

    • @TheMinuteMasters
      @TheMinuteMasters  2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Ok, I thought I had an issue but I had to make deliberate pushes on the CC buttons. Then wait for it to commence. CC in these trucks isn’t as reactive as newer vehicles. So give it a test drive and see what happens.

    I have a question about this, maybe I didn't understand that part of the video, 10:24, I did that, the CC cancels every time I push the brake, that's perfect! but, I can't understand why they installed that release switch. Having that fire hazard even with the new fuse harness, is it necessary to install a new master cylinder with the switch?Anyway, As I said in another comment, you're a genius, you made my whole year!

    • @TheMinuteMasters
      @TheMinuteMasters  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      To be honest, I’m not sure how the TSB harness prevents a fire unless having an inline fuse is the key.
      The sensor in the master cylinder is just another safety measure.
      So there are three ways to cancel cruise:
      1) steering wheel switch
      2) switch at pedal
      3) sensor at master cylinder.
      I think Ford installed the master cylinder sensor as a last ditch effort to cancel cruise in the event the other two systems failed.

    • @zh9119
      @zh9119 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@TheMinuteMasters Great! that means I can leave it like that. Another horrible safety thing to consider on these OBS, the black plastic cover over the throttle bracket, it only has two small screws, if it's loose and moves over the throttle cables it'd act as a cruise control and there is no way to release it while driving. It happened to a friend of mine, he had to figure it out with the brakes and move right away to the shoulder and stop the engine after he was safe to do it. Scary.

    I have a '96 XL. I finished the first part of the installation this morning (without replacing the brake master cylinder), replaced steering wheel, installed CC module, attached cable to throttle. I went to test it on the highway, very happy and excited! Nothing 😔I got the CC module from a junkyard, maybe that's the reason. I check all the fuses, all good. My truck has all the jumpers on connectors from factory. I'm still not sure what's the purpose of the connectors 10:07, you said the one underneath the relay box goes to the master cylinder sensor, but, the one by the driver's firewall, what's that for?. Both of them have the grey jumper from factory anyway.

    • @TheMinuteMasters
      @TheMinuteMasters  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So just to verify: the CC on these trucks isn’t like newer vehicles. There’s no indicator lights and it doesn’t kick in quite as fast. My first test drive felt like a failure because I didn’t know if the CC was even on. Anyhow, be sure to firmly press the “on” button and then firmly press “set”. Then give it a good 10 second for the cable to pull. If it doesn’t work try it again.
      If you have done this, I would test the actually servo (box that actuates cable) and make sure it’s working. Sometimes the weather seal on them broke, and the gears inside would rust together.

      @@TheMinuteMasters I'm 56, yeah, I remember them lol. Yes, that's a good idea, I'll check the gears. In the area were I live, the junkyard 1990s F-150s stock is very low, specially XLTs. • @zh9119
      @zh9119 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @TheMinuteMasters You're a genius, watching the video again (it was my fault that I just saw that), I realized the connector that is attached to the lower side of the fuse box 10:06, it has a blank spout connector instead of a real one like the one by the CC module (servo). I got one from a junkyard, today I installed it, IT WORKS! There is another video that the guy splices two of the wires at the harness that goes to the CC module (servo) they're the ones who are in the brake lights circuit, so every time the brake lights are ON, the CC will be cancelled. I also read that it is not safe to do that. Anyway, without having the master cylinder replaced with the sensor, when I brake, it is canceling the CC. Good!
