That connector by the firewall is the diagnostics connector for the ABS speed sensor that is mounted in the rear differential. It has the same signal that the RABS computer/module gets from the rear diff. reluctance sensor. You can get an ohms reading on it there also if you're having trouble with an open in the sensor winding.

@@granthopper5 You're welcome. I have a 1993 F-150 with the 300cid that I bought last year. I hope you continue to make vids of yours. Good info in this video. Thank you.

@@granthopper5 That's cool. Also, I believe but I'm not 100% is on automatics with E4OD trans (code E on the door sticker which is the standard option), the sensor in the rear diff also functions as the speedometer input. Not sure about manual trans. My 94 Ranger XL w/manual trans has a similar setup but the sensor isn't used for the speedmeter.

Yeah I have the automatic E40D, and according to the wiring diagrams, it does function as the speed sensor for the speedometer, ECU, and Cruise module. It's the only speed sensor on the vehicle.

Awesome video. Any idea how to do the mod for a 7.3 diesel?

Is it a 7.3 IDI or PSD?

@@OkinSold As far as I know, the 7.3 PSD is a drive by wire system, meaning the pedal is actually just a sensor. I've seen some forums though suggesting all that you would have to do is install the correct horn pad, and have the cruise setting enabled in the tune of the PCM

Hello from west Louisiana! I just got a 1996 F250 XL with a 351W in it. No cruise control (yet). I've got the same steering wheel as your old one with no airbag. I've watched your video about 4 times now. So my parts list would be:
    1) Horn Pad
    2) Cruise control servo with cable
    3) Rewire the pins you mentioned.
    Is that correct?
Looking forward to your answer bud. Thanks for your time.

Howdy! Everything sounds good on the cruise control install, but I have changed out one thing since I did the video that I keep meaning to update but haven't gotten around to it.
In regards to the pin rewire, via a few comments on that video I found out that running a jumper wire to bypass the sensor input is unnecessary. Turns out, there's a little tee on the framerail on the driver's side of the engine bay that has a little plug in it. What I finally got around to doing is pulling that plug in installing the pressure sensor (it just screws right in place of the plug). On the main engine harness right above that area on the framerail I found a place for that pressure sensor to plug into. I did have to clean out that plug as it was pretty corroded but it worked like a charm afterward. If you wanted to skip out on that process you can just bypass it like I did originally, but my goal was to get as close as possible to how Ford would have done it from the factory.
      Hope this helps!

Hi, I've watched both videos. Good stuff. Thanks. Trying to add cruise to my '92 F-150. I have the module and cable and the horn pad. Some comments mention a connection in the wiring on the frame to add/connect the brake sensor instead of jumping the 7 and 9 pins together. Did you find a brake sensor to connect there? How's it wired in? Or, do I need to change the brake booster to a newer version? Or is it easier to just jump 7 and 9 together?

    What pins you wire together

    • @granthopper5
      @granthopper5  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

If you look at the site that I put in the description and scroll to the bottom, you'll find the wiring diagrams, and it says that pin #7 is a 12 volt power source, and pin #9 is the pressure switch. You want to jump those together. BEFORE you rely on it, make sure your means of turning it off are working correctly.
