The game itself is fun and undeniably polished, with solid graphics and performance, specially considering is still a beta. But the creative decisions behind the character designs and the pronoun pandering are what killed this game out of the gate
concord looks and probably plays exactly like that type of game where you would see a kid playing in the background of some low budget reality tv show or movie
To me it just looks like a bland mashup of _Fortnite, Roblox, Overwatch_ and a few others, with cutscenes I'd call _Guardians of the Facsimile_ at best. All dated, trend-chasing slop that'll be forgotten about as quickly as any of those other follow the leader titles like it which I genuinely can't recall the names of. Sit it next to a proper auteur game like something Kojima would make which just does whatever the hell he wants, versus something as generic and "target demographic" pleasing as this and it looks even worse.
@Sornio Overwatch is still alive, though. I played it again for the first time in forever a few days ago, had no trouble finding games. Just on Steam it had almost 30,000 players a few days ago.

Greed has destroyed gaming, these publishers want to spend hundreds of millions on a budget then expecting the game to sell 20 million copies. That is not realistic and only a handfull of games can pull this off. We need to go back to the days of good single player games with a smaller budget sell it for $40 and make a profit selling 2 million copies that is more achievable and sustainable.
I'd suggest you to try smaller/Indie games, such as Ender Lilies, Sea Of Stars, Chained Echoes, Unicorn Overlord, FUGA: Melodies Of Steel, Ender Lilies, and others. Nintendo First Party games are also great. AAA Gaming isn't in its best moment, but there are good alternatives.

I think it would have been a standout in whatever year it was released, but because it's being released in *2024: The Barren Year For Gaming* it'll stand out even more.
Japan Studios made fun and wonderful games like Ape Escape , Tokyo Jungle other games but what sucks is these companies like Sony don't like taking chances and think they have to put millions to make a game which is what is killing modern gaming. Unique fun games like Ape Escape and Tokyo Jungle suffer while common walking simulators get funded. I hope one day Sony realizes what Ape Escape for example is still loved and played today. @BToastyBro I only hope that one day, the gaming industry wakes up all at the same time. If that happens, we will see Nintendo making a new F-Zero , Earth Bound , Punch Out!!! And other not used but beloved franchises , Capcom will make Darkstalkers again , Konami will revive and do Metal Gear and Castlevania some justice and gaming consoles will go back to free to play online. But that's all just huge dreams and hopes that due to greed and ignorance, the gaming industry just doesn't and probably will never do. But if they do go along with that, then gaming will feel more wonderful again. ^_^
I love it when people give shout outs to the genius of Japan Studios, loved their work. _Ape Escape_ didn't really work for me but I will say those are fun, polished, all-ages games but I love _Tokyo Jungle_ , find it unique and underrated with a surprisingly sweet twist to the story at the end, didn't expect a game like that to have a hard hitting ending but yep.
Literally compared to Overwatch beta back in 2017 which had a total player count of 9.7 million. This is extremely brutal for Concord. Also adding to the fact that we have had a lot of hero shooters before Concord. It would make a lot of sense that most people would be diagnosed with hero shooter fatigue. Makes you wish Sony spent their cash on a new IP that isn’t an online service game.
The problem is that live service games bring in way more money than single player ones. Their single player games are already ballooning in budget as it is so unless they start pulling in more money, there's gonna be less of those AAA blockbusters that Sony is famous for.
That's the thing though, if people know what the launch price will be, the beta/early access is free and they don't like it, they'll probably never return to it again even later when it's free on PS Plus, which it inevitably will be. In fact if it takes more than a year to be free on PS Plus when it launches DoA and sells very little, I'll be genuinely surprised.
Impossible for that to happen. The devs are all spread out at other studios and it would take like a decade to train devs to make those type of games again.

Nothing wrong with that either most people didn't buy the PS4 Pro compared to the base PS4 and it'll be the same case for PS5 Pro too, but for those that _do_ enjoy an enhanced experience like myself enjoyed the original PS4 Pro and will definitely enjoy the PS5 Pro aswell. Value is in the eye of the beholder, its worth it to me and not to you but thats ok, more options is always a good thing unless its weaker hardware which holds platforms back like the Xbox Series S.

It’s honestly a shame so many people are writing off concord without even giving it a solid chance. I’ve played about 4 hours across the 2 betas and it’s pretty fun if you’re into shooters
I downloaded concord last night with a lot of optimism. After maybe 5-6 games I knew it was doomed. The game feels so slow, time to kill is too long, characters have no charm and overall it just makes me wish I was playing other shooters with similar attributes. It just feels like destiny and Overwatch had a baby but the kid didn’t amount to much and dropped out of school to work at a gas station their whole life. As someone with 150 hours in destiny 2 and 300 hours in Overwatch 2, I’d just rather be playing those games

Yeah exactly, that's why it drives me nuts (pun intended I guess) that most of my use for _Gran Turismo 7_ is single player content. Single player content I can't access when I'm somewhere without internet. The result is I just don't play it and go with _GT Sport_ instead which finally had an end-of-life offline single player mode patched in, something that should have been there from the beginning.
It went as people expected for concord the people that wants to play hero shooter already decided on which one to play and they already spend huge amount of time on it so they won't change now for something that doesn't take their attention right away, the game need to "work" in the first 3 game or so for them if not it's a pass. Concord would have had a better chance if it didn't released on 2024 when other hero shooter already became so big that most of the audience for that kind of game is already taken.
Whats the point of a ps5 pro when we barely even have any exclusive ps5 games that takes full advantage of the ps5 hardware, most of the games are cross-platform games which limits the performance for the ps5 because the game is made to run on old hardware as well
TL;DR I think it'll be more worthwhile for people who have a backlog of older games or subscribe to the higher tiers of PS+ and people who already play most games in performance mode, than it will be for people who only want to play the latest games with the best graphics but which group is going to be targeted the most? PSSR is supposedly an easy patch to take advantage of that improves upscaling post-processing. It'd be better if it was automatic and didn't require devs to do anything, if their game already uses FSR. If it works well and improves a substantial amount of people's backlogs, that could be a selling point. There's also the possibility that it could be used so that people can forgo downloading 4K textures, play in performance mode with ray tracing and get a better end result, with less data to download and occupy the SSD, than the same game in fidelity mode on a standard PS5. If you've got a game with muddy textures/jaggies and a decent 4k TV, you can probably improve the game's appearance a bit by having the TV on something other than Game Mode, but you'd add a substantial amount of lag. Imagine being able to do a better version of that, while improving responsiveness with higher frame rates, without adding to the lag. The Pro probably isn't going to get developers to make better looking/higher fidelity graphics, but that's easier to market. If you've played a Spider-Man game, in Fidelity mode, with the 120hz TV option turned off, then you probably know how much better it feels to run that game at 40 or 60 fps compared to 30. That's what a lot of people want from the Pro. Unfortunately, the hardware upgrade isn't enough to double the frame rate of a 4K game (but will be able to lock some/most games that are already targeting 60fps) without using PSSR to upscale lower resolution assets; meaning it won't be able to take a native 4K game, that's already pushing the current hardware to maintain 30fps, up to 60fps. It would require more work to pick and choose which assets to use low res and which to use at a higher resolution. If you can play an already existing performance mode, while having it look about as good as fidelity, that would be a benefit for people who already choose to play in performance mode. If more games start coming with 4K assets, as an optional download, that would also be a benefit to the same crowd. There might be some games with additional higher resolution assets, that can only be used by a PS5 Pro, but I'd suspect that will be less common than locking fidelity mode at 60fps or cleaning up the visuals of performance mode/older games or adding a Performance + RT mode.
I hope a team of indie devs make a spiritual successor to Tokyo Jungle one day, the game had such an interesting concept to it, I've never come across anything quite like it since
Concord is a game which might have been a decent release in 2018 or 2020 but not now where established current games are so good in the multiplayer space and have clear artistic designs and identities in gameplay too, this money should have gone to a proper twisted metal revival

I got my PSVR1 back from Sony yesterday, and it works again! Back to Astro Bot: Rescue Mission, and I'll be checking out some shooters like Fracked and Blood and Truth! A power surge caused the processor unit to no longer output an image. The VR headset still worked on it's own regardless. Also, it's repair didnt cost me anything because I bought it from Amazon in March.

With concord, the gameplay looks fine, the characters look abysmal. One of the biggest reasons why overwatch was so big for so long was how cool and or attractive the characters were, these characters are either boring or straight up ugly or unappealing.
Ps5 pro won't deliver just like I said, huge waste of money. Developers already cut corners and don't push the limits frame rate wise. It makes no sense that now they'll go even harder on top tier game development? I doubt it.
Gotta remember for the closed beta, people were given 4 other “tickets” for their friends, so if we say that all those pre ordered used their 4 free codes, at worst only 225 pre-ordered on steam which isn’t too great
precisely this one is to the point, people just didn’t play enough before judging it, they just scream "oh Woke characters, oh no F2P", when the Game is Really Fun and has a true Depth in Gameplay, variety with all the Characters, team strategy with each Capacity, while being accessible and absolutely readable in all circumstances. Learn the characters , then play more, it's very accomplished and it doesn’t make fun of the players
With the Indie games, that have little to no marketing budget, it’s a shame Shuhei isn’t promoting VR development for these developers. On the low end games with great graphics don’t get lost on PSVR2 and they will easily move 10k units, where on PS5 with so many Indie games the same game will sell a couple hundred to maybe 1k games if they’re lucky.
I don't even own a base PS5, but I'm also not upset by options that I'm not required to buy. Having a more powerful option for people who want it isn't a bad thing.
I find it disconcerting that Ryan frames the closure around their inability to make profit this regurgitating the motivation by Sony to close this studio. Their games certainly didn't make gangbuster sales but I don't think it's been reported anywhere that they sold so poorly that they were losing money for Sony. They just weren't making the kinda sales that Sony had wanted thus the line about big budget titles whereas Japan Studio was steered towards smaller games with original concepts. Closing Japan studios was one of the worst decisions Sony made under the leadership of Jim Ryan owing to the uninspired output by Sony. You're not putting the pieces together if you believe Japan studios needed closing or restructuring or whatever. They didn't. And astrobots playroom exemplified the power of that team and they went ahead and shut it down and turned who was left into team asobi.
Also it means Sony have made profit even more of a motivating factor, rather than caring about having a diverse range of games of all shapes and sizes not just single player epics and MMO slop. Japan Studios often did more passion project quirky stuff, it was wonderful, and closing them because of bottom line alone was a classic shareholder "short term gains now, long term losses later" cashout move because they didn't plan ahead.
Shutting down Japan Studios because they were "losing money" is fine but funding games like Concord where fans told Sony from day 1 it will be a financial flop is fine? Or all the other 6 live service games where only 1 or max 2 will have some success at all... And keep in mind Sony first planned to do 12 live service games and then shortened it to 6. I think a game by Japan Studios like Gravity Rush 3 even if it does not make them money (although I can't imagine the loss to be this high or they should also bring these amazing games to PC for better sales) it would still have 100X times the sale and player base a Concord ever will have. But I guess Sony wants to be political and do live service slop instead of pleasing their fans.

Concords biggest problem is the price tag. When your rivals (including the upcoming Marvel one ) are all free to play you have to show your worth that extra money which from everything I've seen it's not sadly and if Concord does bomb and you've bought in remember it's online only and server dependant so if it dies your game and the money you bought it for is gone.
I wish there were more good linear games that takes about 10-15 hours to complete. Not all open world games remain enoyable throughout its 20-30 hours of gameplay.
Sadly I can see Concord not lasting very long with its current business model. And it truly pains me to say that because I am not an advocate for free to play games.

Game makers that are genuinely antagonistic to their customers while pandering to people who won't give them a penny, don't deserve success, they deserve to go under. You're forgetting one thing when it comes to Concord - Sony is still blacklisting countries in which PSN accounts cannot be created, we're talking about 177 countries. Yet I see no one talking about this, nor pushing against it. They did the same thing for Ghost of Tsushima, Helldivers 2 and God Of War Ragnarok. It's not realistic to expect big numbers when the game can only be purchased in 18 countries in the WHOLE WORLD. It's stupid beyond words.
It's not as big a problem as people are making it out to be. All services have regional limitations, for various different reasons. 177 countries isn't accurate either

After trying out the Concord BETA, I can honestly say that its biggest problem is that it's not fun. A lot of the characters feel very heavy and the gun play is not the least bit satisfying.
This thing (PS5) is supposed to come out during the holidays (November) yet no word from Sony. No teaser, no announcements, no commercials, no reveal, no hype, no nothing. Then why the hell should i be hyped for it as a consumer Sony, if you dont care 💁♂
This is so silly. While we know a PS5 Pro is coming based on leaks, as far as Sony is concerned publicly there is no PS5 Pro. They will announce it when they decide it’s best. You don’t find out about something ahead of time and then get annoyed they haven’t said anything official. That doesn’t make any sense. We don’t know their plan, plans can change anyways.
Hate to be a naysayer, longtime PlayStation fan (have been since '95 when the PS1 launched in UK), but this is literally the most disappointing console gaming generation ever. Most of my favourite titles are either a few years old ( _Returnal_ ) or just slightly tarted up versions of old favourites from the generation before and usually play just as well on the PS4 Pro, but 30FPS instead of 60FPS. The PS5 has the worst interface of any games console I've ever used and is still bare with no themes, no folders, just a million miles of drab grey everywhere; those "tickets" or whatever when you press the PS button are just another extraneous click down you need to make to select the thing you want - I don't care about widgets, I want the basic user interface to actually be decent to use and not require 4-6 clicks rather than 1-2 for everything. If they pull the same trick with the PS5 Pro as the regular PS5 and it launches with barely any games and no improvements, which knowing modern Sony is exactly what they will do, it'll be another disappointment. They're lucky Xbox are firebombing themselves to death so they don't have any serious competition to make them look bad, frankly.
The only way to save concord is to make it free to play not sure why they are charging for the game when its built the way it is. Live service needs to stop
I agree with you there. However, it is much higher quality than OverWatch from what I can see. Anyway, cutscenes game modes and if it has a campaign on launch will that be interesting? But if it has a campaign later it better be free to play lol.
Im sure Concord will be free to play in a few months. But too late to save it. Had it launched free to play, would have done much better since it would have initial marketing push
There have been so many insane games over the last years. Those few people complaining about nO gAmEs in the comments of every video should probably look for another hobby that brings them more joy. Because seemingly gaming isnt right for them. Also based on the fact that 99% of the games played are multi platform anyways the exclusivity to any platform doesnt matter anyways.
If Sony wants to have a successful live service game they should think about either making one for the last of us , resistance, bring back MAG OR socom

They just want Sony to make the games they like. I mainly care about single games too and I don't really like to play online, but why tf would I be upset that they are making games for everyone? As long as they keep making single player ones that's fine with me, if they also release multiplier games then that´s cool too. For people who want to boast about having a more powerful console than the Series X, but with no real noticeable difference in 90% of PS5 games. I run all PS5 games at 60fps, and they still look great to me. There is also still no official confirmation that there is even a "PS5 Pro", so who knows.
I personally got tired of their movie game formula. I dont have a ton of time and I don't want to be putting the controller down for 5 minute cutscenes all the time. Just not my personal cup of tea.

Jim Ryan closing SONY Japan Studios is the worse thin he did, even saying they didnt make that much money, there is also a reputation and legacy element that you should have. Maintaining that studios was almost nothing.
Concord is DOA, hero shooters died years ago. The only popular ones are Overwatch 2 and TF2. TF2 I barely even count as a hero shooter since it doesn't have staples of the genre like Q abilities and ultimates.
I hope sony doesn't shutdown firewalk. Concord might not do well because of trends etc. rn but the core gameplay is so solid that I'd love for them to make a campaign or something like that. Problem for the game is that it's not innovative so a single player campaign with this gameplay and more doom-like vibe
My guess is that the acquisition occurred because of where the people came from and had worked on before rather than the project itself, now why didn't that happen with Deviation? Maybe that project wasn't coming along. Concord seems like it could be fun, but there's nothing that "feels" original.
No, that was the right decision. Firewalk Studios has nothing to their name and will specialize in this shit, while Naughty Dog would have to sacrifice their singleplayer games to become a live service studio in perpetuity. Naughty Dog has more to lose, Firewalk has nothing to lose. Also, I'm fucking sick of The Last of Us, and Last of Us live service would make it never fucking go away...

@@MalikATL arguably most PS5 owners don't own a PC at all, or a gaming PC with specs that are higher performing than their PS5, which is why there is a market for the Pro in the first place. Its still price competitive for gaming performance and they're already in the Playstation ecosystem with their subscription, their owned games library and their friends who they play with online, so for the smaller enthusiast groups that want a little extra performance from their console but can't afford a higher end gaming PC or just don't want one, then the Pro makes perfect sense which is why they're bringing it back this generation.
I think the ps5 pro will mostly sell to people who still using ps4 pro or slim and didn't buy ps5 at all and maybe some minor ps5 owners will buy the pro For me I'll buy ps5 pro because I'm still on my ps4 slim so it will be a great upgrade
Concord gameplay is really solid, you can tell that experienced people worked on it. However, most of the character designs, maps and game modes are unappealing and boring af. I've mostly enjoyed my ~10 hours with the game, but I dont really see myself playing more.
This is exactly how I feel too. And I don’t typically play these type of games but I’ve enjoyed the Beta when it comes to the gameplay, the graphics and how undeniably polished it is. But I just don’t see how they are asking $40 for the game when they purposely made the game so Unappealing with the character designs and just weird writing. The whole 70’s-80’s space Sci Fi setting is cool enough but it feels like a complete waste when the character designs are the way they are. Plus there’s also the clear social politics pandering with the pronouns which out of the gate just puts off a lot of people! I just don’t know who approved the decision to do that to their own game. They killed it and every chance for it to succeed themselves
Open world games definitely don't respect your time. Lots of boring elements and filled with busywork. I immediately tune out open world games these days.
Still don't see any point to a "pro" it's not like any current games are pushing the hardware to the limits or anything. Still play the old school NFS titles, original to Carbon
While Sony is still going strong with the PlayStation 5 as opposed to Microsoft with Xbox SeriesX/S I’ll only get a PS5 Pro under these conditions: 1. Must have backwards compatibility with PS3 games(and no half assed streaming, real software emulation similar to how the Xbox does it) 2. Removable internal hard drive that can be expanded. 3. The game itself is fun and undeniably polished, with solid graphics and performance, specially considering is still a beta. But the creative decisions behind the character designs and the pronoun pandering are what killed this game out of the gate

To me it just looks like a bland mashup of _Fortnite, Roblox, Overwatch_ and a few others, with cutscenes I'd call _Guardians of the Facsimile_ at best. All dated, trend-chasing slop that'll be forgotten about as quickly as any of those other follow the leader titles like it which I genuinely can't recall the names of. Sit it next to a proper auteur game like something Kojima would make which just does whatever the hell he wants, versus something as generic and "target demographic" pleasing as this and it looks even worse.

@Sornio Overwatch is still alive, though. I played it again for the first time in forever a few days ago, had no trouble finding games. Just on Steam it had almost 30,000 players a few days ago.

Greed has destroyed gaming, these publishers want to spend hundreds of millions on a budget then expecting the game to sell 20 million copies. That is not realistic and only a handfull of games can pull this off. We need to go back to the days of good single player games with a smaller budget sell it for $40 and make a profit selling 2 million copies that is more achievable and sustainable.
I'd suggest you to try smaller/Indie games, such as Ender Lilies, Sea Of Stars, Chained Echoes, Unicorn Overlord, FUGA: Melodies Of Steel, Ender Lilies, and others. Nintendo First Party games are also great.
AAA Gaming isn't in its best moment, but there are good alternatives.

Japan Studios made fun and wonderful games like Ape Escape , Tokyo Jungle other games but what sucks is these companies like Sony don't like taking chances and think they have to put millions to make a game which is what is killing modern gaming. Unique fun games like Ape Escape and Tokyo Jungle suffer while common walking simulators get funded. I hope one day Sony realizes what Ape Escape for example is still loved and played today. I love it when people give shout outs to the genius of Japan Studios, loved their work. _Ape Escape_ didn't really work for me but I will say those are fun, polished, all-ages games but I love _Tokyo Jungle_ , find it unique and underrated with a surprisingly sweet twist to the story at the end, didn't expect a game like that to have a hard hitting ending but yep.

Literally compared to Overwatch beta back in 2017 which had a total player count of 9.7 million. This is extremely brutal for Concord. Also adding to the fact that we have had a lot of hero shooters before Concord. It would make a lot of sense that most people would be diagnosed with hero shooter fatigue. Makes you wish Sony spent their cash on a new IP that isn’t an online service game.

The problem is that live service games bring in way more money than single player ones. Their single player games are already ballooning in budget as it is so unless they start pulling in more money, there's gonna be less of those AAA blockbusters that Sony is famous for.

That's the thing though, if people know what the launch price will be, the beta/early access is free and they don't like it, they'll probably never return to it again even later when it's free on PS Plus, which it inevitably will be. In fact if it takes more than a year to be free on PS Plus when it launches DoA and sells very little, I'll be genuinely surprised.
I really want Japan Studio back on the game.
Impossible for that to happen. The devs are all spread out at other studios and it would take like a decade to train devs to make those type of games again.

It’s honestly a shame so many people are writing off concord without even giving it a solid chance. I’ve played about 4 hours across the 2 betas and it’s pretty fun if you’re into shooters
I downloaded concord last night with a lot of optimism. After maybe 5-6 games I knew it was doomed. The game feels so slow, time to kill is too long, characters have no charm and overall it just makes me wish I was playing other shooters with similar attributes. It just feels like destiny and Overwatch had a baby but the kid didn’t amount to much and dropped out of school to work at a gas station their whole life. As someone with 150 hours in destiny 2 and 300 hours in Overwatch 2, I’d just rather be playing those games

Yeah exactly, that's why it drives me nuts (pun intended I guess) that most of my use for _Gran Turismo 7_ is single player content. Single player content I can't access when I'm somewhere without internet. The result is I just don't play it and go with _GT Sport_ instead which finally had an end-of-life offline single player mode patched in, something that should have been there from the beginning.
It went as people expected for concord the people that wants to play hero shooter already decided on which one to play and they already spend huge amount of time on it so they won't change now for something that doesn't take their attention right away, the game need to "work" in the first 3 game or so for them if not it's a pass. Concord would have had a better chance if it didn't released on 2024 when other hero shooter already became so big that most of the audience for that kind of game is already taken.
Whats the point of a ps5 pro when we barely even have any exclusive ps5 games that takes full advantage of the ps5 hardware, most of the games are cross-platform games which limits the performance for the ps5 because the game is made to run on old hardware as well
TL;DR I think it'll be more worthwhile for people who have a backlog of older games or subscribe to the higher tiers of PS+ and people who already play most games in performance mode, than it will be for people who only want to play the latest games with the best graphics but which group is going to be targeted the most?
PSSR is supposedly an easy patch to take advantage of that improves upscaling post-processing. It'd be better if it was automatic and didn't require devs to do anything, if their game already uses FSR. If it works well and improves a substantial amount of people's backlogs, that could be a selling point. There's also the possibility that it could be used so that people can forgo downloading 4K textures, play in performance mode with ray tracing and get a better end result, with less data to download and occupy the SSD, than the same game in fidelity mode on a standard PS5.
If you've got a game with muddy textures/jaggies and a decent 4k TV, you can probably improve the game's appearance a bit by having the TV on something other than Game Mode, but you'd add a substantial amount of lag. Imagine being able to do a better version of that, while improving responsiveness with higher frame rates, without adding to the lag. The Pro probably isn't going to get developers to make better looking/higher fidelity graphics, but that's easier to market.
If you've played a Spider-Man game, in Fidelity mode, with the 120hz TV option turned off, then you probably know how much better it feels to run that game at 40 or 60 fps compared to 30. That's what a lot of people want from the Pro. Unfortunately, the hardware upgrade isn't enough to double the frame rate of a 4K game (but will be able to lock some/most games that are already targeting 60fps) without using PSSR to upscale lower resolution assets; meaning it won't be able to take a native 4K game, that's already pushing the current hardware to maintain 30fps, up to 60fps. It would require more work to pick and choose which assets to use low res and which to use at a higher resolution. If you can play an already existing performance mode, while having it look about as good as fidelity, that would be a benefit for people who already choose to play in performance mode. If more games start coming with 4K assets, as an optional download, that would also be a benefit to the same crowd. There might be some games with additional higher resolution assets, that can only be used by a PS5 Pro, but I'd suspect that will be less common than locking fidelity mode at 60fps or cleaning up the visuals of performance mode/older games or adding a Performance + RT mode.
I hope a team of indie devs make a spiritual successor to Tokyo Jungle one day, the game had such an interesting concept to it, I've never come across anything quite like it since

I got my PSVR1 back from Sony yesterday, and it works again! Back to Astro Bot: Rescue Mission, and I'll be checking out some shooters like Fracked and Blood and Truth!
A power surge caused the processor unit to no longer output an image. The VR headset still worked on it's own regardless.
Also, it's repair didnt cost me anything because I bought it from Amazon in March.

With concord, the gameplay looks fine, the characters look abysmal. One of the biggest reasons why overwatch was so big for so long was how cool and or attractive the characters were, these characters are either boring or straight up ugly or unappealing.

With the Indie games, that have little to no marketing budget, it’s a shame Shuhei isn’t promoting VR development for these developers. On the low end games with great graphics don’t get lost on PSVR2 and they will easily move 10k units, where on PS5 with so many Indie games the same game will sell a couple hundred to maybe 1k games if they’re lucky.
Even as a PlayStation fan boi we don’t need ps5 pro to play exactly the same games with slightly better fucking shadows or some shit.

I don't even own a base PS5, but I'm also not upset by options that I'm not required to buy. Having a more powerful option for people who want it isn't a bad thing.
I find it disconcerting that Ryan frames the closure around their inability to make profit this regurgitating the motivation by Sony to close this studio. Their games certainly didn't make gangbuster sales but I don't think it's been reported anywhere that they sold so poorly that they were losing money for Sony. They just weren't making the kinda sales that Sony had wanted thus the line about big budget titles whereas Japan Studio was steered towards smaller games with original concepts. Closing Japan studios was one of the worst decisions Sony made under the leadership of Jim Ryan owing to the uninspired output by Sony. You're not putting the pieces together if you believe Japan studios needed closing or restructuring or whatever. They didn't. And astrobots playroom exemplified the power of that team and they went ahead and shut it down and turned who was left into team asobi.
Also it means Sony have made profit even more of a motivating factor, rather than caring about having a diverse range of games of all shapes and sizes not just single player epics and MMO slop. Japan Studios often did more passion project quirky stuff, it was wonderful, and closing them because of bottom line alone was a classic shareholder "short term gains now, long term losses later" cashout move because they didn't plan ahead.
Shutting down Japan Studios because they were "losing money" is fine but funding games like Concord where fans told Sony from day 1 it will be a financial flop is fine? Or all the other 6 live service games where only 1 or max 2 will have some success at all... And keep in mind Sony first planned to do 12 live service games and then shortened it to 6.
I think a game by Japan Studios like Gravity Rush 3 even if it does not make them money (although I can't imagine the loss to be this high or they should also bring these amazing games to PC for better sales) it would still have 100X times the sale and player base a Concord ever will have.
But I guess Sony wants to be political and do live service slop instead of pleasing their fans.

Concords biggest problem is the price tag. When your rivals (including the upcoming Marvel one ) are all free to play you have to show your worth that extra money which from everything I've seen it's not sadly and if Concord does bomb and you've bought in remember it's online only and server dependant so if it dies your game and the money you bought it for is gone.
I wish there were more good linear games that takes about 10-15 hours to complete. Not all open world games remain enoyable throughout its 20-30 hours of gameplay.

You're forgetting one thing when it comes to Concord - Sony is still blacklisting countries in which PSN accounts cannot be created, we're talking about 177 countries. Yet I see no one talking about this, nor pushing against it. They did the same thing for Ghost of Tsushima, Helldivers 2 and God Of War Ragnarok.
It's not realistic to expect big numbers when the game can only be purchased in 18 countries in the WHOLE WORLD. It's stupid beyond words.

Dude, were talking about some countries that don't have running water, electricity, health care, and so on. Some countries don't allow trade with the US or vice versa. Playing Helldivers is the least of the problem.

After trying out the Concord BETA, I can honestly say that its biggest problem is that it's not fun. A lot of the characters feel very heavy and the gun play is not the least bit satisfying.
This thing (PS5) is supposed to come out during the holidays (November) yet no word from Sony. No teaser, no announcements, no commercials, no reveal, no hype, no nothing. Then why the hell should i be hyped for it as a consumer Sony, if you dont care 💁♂
This is so silly. While we know a PS5 Pro is coming based on leaks, as far as Sony is concerned publicly there is no PS5 Pro. They will announce it when they decide it’s best. You don’t find out about something ahead of time and then get annoyed they haven’t said anything official. That doesn’t make any sense. We don’t know their plan, plans can change anyways.
PS4 Pro got announced two months before it released (Sep - Nov).
Hate to be a naysayer, longtime PlayStation fan (have been since '95 when the PS1 launched in UK), but this is literally the most disappointing console gaming generation ever.
Most of my favourite titles are either a few years old ( _Returnal_ ) or just slightly tarted up versions of old favourites from the generation before and usually play just as well on the PS4 Pro, but 30FPS instead of 60FPS.
The PS5 has the worst interface of any games console I've ever used and is still bare with no themes, no folders, just a million miles of drab grey everywhere; those "tickets" or whatever when you press the PS button are just another extraneous click down you need to make to select the thing you want - I don't care about widgets, I want the basic user interface to actually be decent to use and not require 4-6 clicks rather than 1-2 for everything.
If they pull the same trick with the PS5 Pro as the regular PS5 and it launches with barely any games and no improvements, which knowing modern Sony is exactly what they will do, it'll be another disappointment. They're lucky Xbox are firebombing themselves to death so they don't have any serious competition to make them look bad, frankly.
The PS5 pro will still be the most unnecessary console revision ever

I agree with you there. However, it is much higher quality than OverWatch from what I can see. Anyway, cutscenes game modes and if it has a campaign on launch will that be interesting? But if it has a campaign later it better be free to play lol.
Im sure Concord will be free to play in a few months. But too late to save it. Had it launched free to play, would have done much better since it would have initial marketing push

There have been so many insane games over the last years. Those few people complaining about nO gAmEs in the comments of every video should probably look for another hobby that brings them more joy. Because seemingly gaming isnt right for them. Also based on the fact that 99% of the games played are multi platform anyways the exclusivity to any platform doesnt matter anyways.
If Sony wants to have a successful live service game they should think about either making one for the last of us , resistance, bring back MAG OR socom

They just want Sony to make the games they like. I mainly care about single games too and I don't really like to play online, but why tf would I be upset that they are making games for everyone? As long as they keep making single player ones that's fine with me, if they also release multiplier games then that´s cool too. That would only mean more options, If I get tired of single games maybe I can hop into one of those multiplayer ones.

I don't understand people saying that PS5 has no exclusives this year: Stellar Blade, FF Rebirth, Helldivers 2, Rise of the Ronin, Concord, Astrobot and Silent Hill 2.

For people who want to boast about having a more powerful console than the Series X, but with no real noticeable difference in 90% of PS5 games. I run all PS5 games at 60fps, and they still look great to me. There is also still no official confirmation that there is even a "PS5 Pro", so who knows.

Concord is DOA, hero shooters died years ago. The only popular ones are Overwatch 2 and TF2. TF2 I barely even count as a hero shooter since it doesn't have staples of the genre like Q abilities and ultimates.

I hope sony doesn't shutdown firewalk. Concord might not do well because of trends etc. rn but the core gameplay is so solid that I'd love for them to make a campaign or something like that. Problem for the game is that it's not innovative so a single player campaign with this gameplay and more doom-like vibe

My guess is that the acquisition occurred because of where the people came from and had worked on before rather than the project itself, now why didn't that happen with Deviation? Maybe that project wasn't coming along. Concord seems like it could be fun, but there's nothing that "feels" original.

No, that was the right decision. Firewalk Studios has nothing to their name and will specialize in this shit, while Naughty Dog would have to sacrifice their singleplayer games to become a live service studio in perpetuity. Naughty Dog has more to lose, Firewalk has nothing to lose. Also, I'm fucking sick of The Last of Us, and Last of Us live service would make it never fucking go away...

@@MalikATL arguably most PS5 owners don't own a PC at all, or a gaming PC with specs that are higher performing than their PS5, which is why there is a market for the Pro in the first place. Its still price competitive for gaming performance and they're already in the Playstation ecosystem with their subscription, their owned games library and their friends who they play with online, so for the smaller enthusiast groups that want a little extra performance from their console but can't afford a higher end gaming PC or just don't want one, then the Pro makes perfect sense which is why they're bringing it back this generation.
I think the ps5 pro will mostly sell to people who still using ps4 pro or slim and didn't buy ps5 at all and maybe some minor ps5 owners will buy the pro For me I'll buy ps5 pro because I'm still on my ps4 slim so it will be a great upgrade

Concord gameplay is really solid, you can tell that experienced people worked on it. However, most of the character designs, maps and game modes are unappealing and boring af.
I've mostly enjoyed my ~10 hours with the game, but I dont really see myself playing more.

This is exactly how I feel too. And I don’t typically play these type of games but I’ve enjoyed the Beta when it comes to the gameplay, the graphics and how undeniably polished it is. But I just don’t see how they are asking $40 for the game when they purposely made the game so Unappealing with the character designs and just weird writing. The whole 70’s-80’s space Sci Fi setting is cool enough but it feels like a complete waste when the character designs are the way they are.
Plus there’s also the clear social politics pandering with the pronouns which out of the gate just puts off a lot of people!
I just don’t know who approved the decision to do that to their own game. They killed it and every chance for it to succeed themselves

Open world games definitely don't respect your time. Lots of boring elements and filled with busywork. I immediately tune out open world games these days.

It's needed if you want improved image quality at 60fps. But if you're happy with 30fps, then it isn't for you.
Still don't see any point to a "pro" it's not like any current games are pushing the hardware to the limits or anything.

While Sony is still going strong with the PlayStation 5 as opposed to Microsoft with Xbox SeriesX/S I’ll only get a PS5 Pro under these conditions: 1. Must have backwards compatibility with PS3 games(and no half assed streaming, real software emulation similar to how the Xbox does it) 2. Removable internal hard drive that can be expanded. 3. Must Greatly enhance games that are already at peak perfection on a vanilla PS5(by that I mean 5k support and silky smooth 120fps, at minimum. Those are my rules. If not, pass.
Native PS3 compatibility is a fantasy. PS5 already has a modular internal SSD. “5K” is not happening on consoles.
