Fantastic video mate!! What a great way to start my Sunday! Trafalgar!!!! Just Spiffing! Is it me or does the Band seem to be marching a little bit faster?
    The marches played were,
    1) 0:16-Guards Armoured Division
    2) 3:13-Trafalgar (🎉🥳🎉)
    3) 4:41-If You're Irish & Begorrah
    (Return to Barracks)
    4) 6:00-Sons of the Brave
    5) 7:39-Bond of Friendship
    6) 11:21-The Rising of the Lark
Also, I must say that the Bass Trombone was sounding Superb!! Sgt D. Lockwood (aka The "Man with the Lungs of Steel ") certainly living up to his name!

@delvinrodriguez3341, didn’t seem like it to me but what do I know. It seems like the guards were “lagging behind,” like teenagers who don’t want to be seen in public with their parents😂 and one of the escorts acted like he was over it

Thanks mate. A great march pack the guard had chosen. I agree SGT Lockwood was absolutely excellent and coming back into the barracks with ‘Bond of Friendship’ was excellent.

Somewhere on the high street, the band either sped up, or the guard fell behind. It wasn't clear exactly what happened. If the former, whoops! that would be down to the SDM! You're right about David Lockwood. Always reliably good, as is brother, Jonathan, another bass trombonist who followed David and their father into the Band of the Welsh Guards. What a family! Even their mother plays trombone. The audio was excellent. Half term must account for the big crowds in Windsor and London, lately.

@@e.chambers2973 I’m not sure either ( though perish the thought that your namesake could possibly be at fault😱) but you’d think the guards would be able to keep up as all they have to do is march, unlike the band who have to play as well as march😌 Great video nevertheless 😁

Great video! Super clarity for both visual and sound, many thanks for sharing☺️ Nice to see the almost full set of matching plumes of SDM Chambers and the band (apart from the two Scots slotted in at the back) I like the full plumes, much better than the skinny ones that look like shaving brushes😉

      Hello Ann, the 2 "guests" playing Clarinets are From The Grenadier Guards. They have those very thin White Plumes on the Left side of their Bearskins, they are often very hard to spot. The best view on this video is when the come out of the Henry Vlll Gate & when they March into the Barracks, before the Old Guard arrives. Th Irish Band almost always has a Coldstream Guards Bandsman in the Woodwind Section, but not today, just the 2 Grenadier Guards. The Irish Bandsmen wear the Next size up Plume, but the actual Guardsmen wear a thin Horsehair Plume, dyed St Patrick's Blue. For Future Reference;
There's 3 types of Plumes used by the Guards.
      1) The Guardsman Plume, which is made from Horse hair and dyed accordingly for each regiment. This is the smallest of all and sometimes quite difficult to see in the Bearskins.
      2) NCO Plumes (Non-commissioned Officers) These are much bigger in size and are made from feathers, and are dyed accordingly for each regiment. These are also worn by all the Musicians in the Guards Bands. Except the Director of Music, who wears an Officers Plume.
      3) Officers Plumes, these are the tallest and largest of the Plumes. They are made from peacock feathers, and again are dyed accordingly for each regiment.
Have a Good Week & Stay Safe

@@vickyRoyalHistory First of all let me thank you for all your comments that I’ve read in the past😎 I’ve only very recently signed up/in to TH-cam so couldn’t reply or “like” until now. I’ve enjoyed your past comments for their informative and humorous content, and I think were singing from the same hymn sheet as regards the star DM😊
Anyway, onto to your kind reply to my comment regarding the “guest” band members. By Jove you’re right! Now I’m on a larger screen and with my eyes peeled I can see the two skinny little plumes hiding in the bearskin! Well, I have to say the Band of the Irish Guards have the better deal with their plumes, they’re far more plush.
Thank you for the information regarding the plume status. I think the Guardsmen get a raw deal with those skinny shaving brush ones😌
The plume allocated to the always superb SDM Chambers is a good one, almost heart shaped. Rather apt don’t you think!?!🤭
      Hwyl fawr Vicky😎

@@AnnofWales21 Hi again Ann, I'm Sorry I missed the last little Bit about SDM Chambers' Plume. I don't know if you're aware, but there are Only 2 Groups of People in the British Army who are Allowed to Wear Bearskins, well Bearskins like These. The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards, have a Pipe & Drum Band who wear The Pipe Players Bearskins, but they are a Different Size & Shape to These & have a "Tail" hanging down the Back to Protect their Neck from Sword & Sabre Cuts.
Otherwise it's The 5 Foot Guard (Infantry Regiments of The Household Division. The Others are The Honourable Artillery Company, they have No Plumes & we see them very Occasionally. They have been known to Lend some of their Musicians if needed & The Household Division Support them when they have a Special Parade. However, though they also wear a Red Tunic, it looks very different to the ones we see. So you won't Confuse them.
Each Guard has 30 Weeks of Training, 2 weeks More than the Average Squaddie. The Extra 2 weeks is for Drill & Ceremonial Protocol. According to British Heritage (Military) the Guard is Issued a Bearskin by the Quarter Mater's Store & fitted to each Individual, making Adjustments as Necessary for the Best Fit Possible. Each Guardsman gets his Bearskin & it is His till it Falls apart or he leaves the Army. That's how it's supposed to work anyway.
They are up to 18"(46 cm) Tall & weigh 1.5 lbs (7 kg) The weight changes when Wet & you will sometimes see a very Unimpressed Guardsman, standing to Attention in the Open on Duty, looking very Bedraggled as it Pours with Rain & his Bearskin is Getting Heavier. Each Guardsman is responsible for the Care & Maintenance of His Bearskin & Plume. They are Washed & Groomed Regularly & if you happen to have the misfortune of having a Dirty & Scruffy Bearskin in your Locker during a Snap Inspection, Oh Dear, You are in Trouble!
I can see at least 2 Bandsmen from The Band of the Irish Guards with that 'Heart' Shaped Plum. Funnily enough it's Sgt David Lockwood, The Bass Trombonist & the First Bandsman I got to know by Face & Name in the Comments & My Favourite Bass Trombonist (Well, he would be, wouldn't he). There's bound to be more. The 'Heart' is indeed Apt!😁. There is a Rule that Only A Guardsman can Touch a Bearskin & you can sometimes see them in a Huddle Making Adjustments for each other if it's not on Straight or Not Fitting Properly. So if You see that, don't think it's some Strange Male Rite of Passage in the Guards Regiments, it's because there aren't Mirrors on a Drill Square, so they get a Mate to Fix it.
I don't know why the Grenadier Bandsmen still insist on wearing those very thin White Plumes, All the Other Regiments Bands wear the NCO Plumes. It really is a Devil to see, because you don't always see the Bands from Both Sides. When the Guard Detachment is from the Grenadiers, it's very easy to mistake them for the Bayonet. They are the Senior Regiment Founded in 1656 & perhaps that has Something to do with it. A White Feather was Given to Conscientious Objectors in the 1st & 2nd World War, maybe that has something to do with it.
Anyway, I'm Sorry I rambled on so Much.
      C U L8r!

@@vickyRoyalHistory Wow, thanks again for the information😎 I hadn’t realised the bearskins were that heavy. I’ve gleaned some information from the various videos I’ve watched but I’m still very green as there is an awful lot to take in! I note you refer to Delvin Rodriguez as “Delvinpedia” in another earlier video , I think you might be “Vickypedia”🤓
Yes, I suspected that the bearskins were for the duration of the army career as I’d come to recognise the plume and bearskin on SDM Chambers was always the same in whichever video he was in🤭 At least his looks good! They vary tremendously, which is only natural given their natural source. Unfortunately, although the vast majority are splendid, some aren’t so good and lead me to suspect some bears had bad hair days prior to their demise. A couple of them look like badly fitting toupees set at an odd angle (usually perched forward) some look as though they need a trip to the barbers and some even have “roots”! Very much luck of the draw methinks😌
      Thanks again Vicky. Hwyl😎

@@AnnofWales21 Hi Anne!. The Main reason there are a Variety of Shapes to The Bearskins, is because back in the Late 1980s & 1990s, The MOD Bowed to the Pressure from the Various Animal Rights Groups Regarding The use of Actual Bearskin Pelts to Make the Guardsmen's Bearskin Headwear. So the MOD/British Army investigated the Possibility of using Man made Synthetic Materials to Make the "Bearskins", including Fake Fur. They had a number made up for the Guardsmen to test Drive & within 6 Months the General Consensus was they weren't Fit for Purpose. Unfortunately, as they had cost about 50% each more than the Real ones, they were to remain in use until they required Replacing. The Result is there a Number of them that Stick out like Dog's .... Err.... they're Really Obvious. They don't hold their Shape Well, they don't stand up well to the Weather, they're lighter in Weight & tend to Move around or Slip, they Fade & lack the Glossiness of the Real Deal. Worst of all, many of them look like Smurf's Hats, Nite Caps or a Bad Bouffant Beehive Hair Do from the 1960's. It really Detracts from the Overall Look of the Bands & Guardsmen.
The Bearskins are now Sourced from Canada & are the Result of Culled Canadian Black Bears as part of a Sustainable Population Management System to ensure there is Sufficient Good Habitats for a Healthy & Robust Population. It takes 1 Adult Bear Pelt to make 1 Guardsmen's Bearskin & they Can Last for 80 Years or more provided they have been looked after Properly.

I'm all excited! This is the First time for I don't know how long that I've seen My Favourite Guards Band, The Band of the Irish Guards, Led by My Favourite DM, SDM Gareth Chambers MVO. Can I dare hope for that Fantastic March, " It's Yer Day ", Written Especially for SDM Gareth Chambers MVO, by Irish Guardsmen to Celebrate his Member of the Victorian Order in the 2023 New Years Honours.
I love Your Tongue in Cheek Video Title Mr AFV! 👏👏😂 I would've thought it was more of a Rarity to have a Video with No Road Works at Windsor.
That Bass Trombone coming through the Arch at VB has just got to be Played by Sgt. David Lockwood, "The Man with the Lungs of Kevlar". It's Instantly recognisable. They seem to be moving quite a bit Faster today. I think my Computer may have another Fur Ball (Dratted Cat) the Band just doesn't sound right. When the Trombones Rest from about 1:20 - 2:20 I hear the Bass Drum & very Little Else, that's Strange with this Band, Their Sound doesn't usually drop away like this, there's almost no Tuba, when the Horn Section kick in again at about 2:00 that's a bit better & you can hear a bit more Tuba but it's still not Sounding like they usually do. When the Trombones come back in, apart from Sgt Lockwood's Bass Trombone, there's not a lot of Bass apart from the Bass Drum, so it sounds quite Sharp. Ok, it must be my Computer's Sound, I've Muted it, which means I've got nothing to say now Lol.
Thank you Mr AFV. The Video is Great! A shame I cant enjoy the Music, but I'm sure it'll be up to Usual High Standard, Yours are always Fantastic. Thanks for taking us With You.

Hi Vicky, I've listened to this a couple of times and see what you mean about the sound but don't think it's a problem with your computer or with the way the sound recording has been done. I've just noticed that with the white gloves they're wearing, on most of the brass players the finger-tips of the gloves are still in place whereas on most of the woodwind instruments and on the French Horns the players' finger-tips are bare, ie the ends of the glove fingers have been cut off. If the material of the gloves is at all slippery on the tops of the valves (the valve caps), that would cause problems for the player when trying to operate the valves. For example, with the nearest tuba player I was beginning to think that his 3rd valve - the one furthest from the mouth - had got stuck (these things can happen). On other recent bands at Windsor, they all seem to have bare finger-tips with these gloves eg AFV's videos of the Band of the Scots Guards on 15 Feb 2024:-
      th-cam.com/video/SFFFnkYLtZ0/w-d-xo.html
... and the Band of the Household Cavalry on 10 Feb 2024:-
      th-cam.com/video/otgiU32WG7M/w-d-xo.html
Might sound far-fetched, but as a former brass instrument player myself I think it's very likely to be what's caused a problem.

@@MikeM14-40 Thank you Mike! I must say that I straight away, went & watched a couple of other Videos & they were just as Good as Normal. I came to the Conclusion that maybe it was the Recording, but other later Videos from AFV were Fine. So I put it down to maybe being Atmospherics.
Thanks for Checking it all out Mike, you've saved me a lot if Money & a serious amount of Trouble, as I use my Laptop for Power Point & Video Presentations at Uni.
      Have a Great Week!

They have been working on the Road at Castle Hill for over a Year now. The Title of the Video is probably a Tongue in Cheek reference to that. Or it could be a Genuine Sentiment, being that it's Road Works outside of Castle Hill. I don't ever recall seeing Road Works at Windsor apart from the Castle Hill ones. They did tease us by laying the New Road Surface from the Corner to the Gate, but then they Dug it up again. You can decide whether it's tongue in Cheek or Genuine.
