Hello there, the Guard Mount took place inside the Windsor Castle Quadrangle. The Quadrangle has gravel pathways, so marching causes the gravel to kick up dust. That's why everyone has dusty boots. Hope this helps!

@@chrisgshelton Many thanks for replying back. I just thought it was interesting to see the band repeat the same selection on the way back for the past 2 guard mounts at Windsor. It’s only us military band march enthusiasts that would notice these things 😂. It’s always great to hear a great selection of different marches played, it always shows the incredibly of professionalism within the bands. Many regards!

im not sure about the dog and horse but the flower thing is called a plume and they are different because they are from different regiments. The Grenadier Guards have a white plume. The Coldstream Guards have a red plume. The Irish Guards have a blue plume.

Hello! The dog is an Irish Wolfhound named Seamus, he's the regimental Mascot of the Irish Guards. The Irish Guards are the only Regiment who has a Mascot. The white Horse was being taken to the arches of the Horse Guards building so the officers who would take part in the parade could mount them. As explained before the Bearskin have identification plumes, White = Grenadier Guards Red = Coldstream Guards No Plume = Scots Guards St. Patrick's Blue = Irish Guards White, Green, White = Welsh Guards Hope this helps!!

@@bulouvusonawalowalo1711 You're welcome! No Seamus does not have a rank. The only animals on Parade with rank are the two Household Cavalry Drum houses. They always hold the Rank of Major.

Hi JWF7000, I didn't see him at last Saturday's Major General's Review either. I guess that as each of the 5 bands was 4 wide, not 5 wide, it was decided that one bass trombone per band was sufficient. I'm pleased to see each band or most of the bands had 2 euphs.

@@MikeM14-40 Thanks Mike , I missed him because in my opinion he’s the most beautiful sounding bass trombone player ! I am following the Goldstream Guards band for many many years, because i find that they are the best Military band ! And that’s why I missed Gareth on his bass trombone ! Aren’t there always two Euphonium,s in the Military Band,s ? 😉 I am a Brass band lover and member off Brass Band , living in the Netherlands up North .

I too played in (civilian) brass bands here in the United Kingdom for many many years, and my favourite and main instrument was the euphonium, so I have a particular interest in seeing and hearing them in the military bands. Unfortunately a lot of the time they only seem to have one euphonium these days, but I think it sounds much better when there are two. I have always enjoyed listening to military bands and marches, from when I was a small child, and now that I have retired from working I have more time to go and watch them and even film them. As well as in London, I enjoy going to see the bands at the guard-changes in Windsor, where the crowds are smaller and it is easier to get a better, closer view of the band. Although I never played a bass trombone, it is one of the first things I listen to in each band performance, and I have a favourite player in most of the bands I watch!

You don’t believe maybe but I am as well an Euphonium player and still playing the Euphonium , I start playing the Euphonium when I was 14 years old, 53 years later still playing the Euphonium, now you know my age The British Brass Band,s , Black Dyke , Cory , Fodens , Grimethorp , enz enz they are my favorites My favorite Euphonium player is Mr John Clough , he played in the famous Black Dyke , in my opinion the most beautiful Euphonium sound I have ever heard Greetings to you!

@@JWF7000 Hello again! I'm glad that you're still playing the Euphonium and enjoying it! I am a similar age to you. I stopped playing regularly in brass bands in 1997, but I still have my instrument and have been involved in playing in smaller brass ensembles on occasions since then. I also enjoyed composing and arranging music for brass instruments, although I am an amateur and was not professionally trained. I agree that John Clough was one of the most beautiful euphonium sounds, and I have many of the Black Dyke records (now CDs) from the 1970s up to about 1988 when many of the personnel in the band were changed. I also liked Trevor Groom, who played Euphonium in GUS band for many years, and another great favourite of mine was Lyndon Baglin, from a similar time period, who played in Sun Life band as well as some other bands - he had an enormous sound. Whilst the more-recent and younger players are no doubt very good, in particular in terms of technique, the world moves faster and faster and I wonder whether in 40 or 50 years they will still be remembered in the way that John Clough, Trevor Groom and Lyndon Baglin (and some other players from that generation) are still famous now.
