    A great Video, Thanks Military Events! The Band of the Scots Guards is definitely one of the most popular Bands in the Household Division & my favourite Drum Major SSGT Gareth Chambers MVO (1B IG, WO2) seems to be rather popular too. I was trying to count the Trombones, as the Scots quite often march 6 abreast, but I think they're sticking with the Normal 5 this Parade. The thing I love the Most about Victoria Barracks, is the Arch the Band comes through, it usually coincides with the opening Bars of the 1st March & the Acoustics are bloody Magic, picks you up & shakes you, I Love It!! Tubas & Euphoniums sound Great, Trombones very smooth & nice, I could hear every note from the Flutes, nice mellow Clarinets, The Horns were great, in fact the Whole Band was Brilliant & to me it was a very nicely balanced Sound, you could hear every section & every instrument, with nothing over powering the others. Some good Marches too. Excellent job videoing through the Sea of Mobile Phones & the Rapids of Tourists A+ !

      Hi again, vickyRoyalHistory. I agree about the Band of the Scots Guards. I have to be selective over which of these I go and see, and hopefully also film (although I could never approach the quality of videos such as this one), with a quite long and stressful journey getting there and back, but of all the "Household" bands, which of course are *all* very good in their own ways, this is one of my favourites not only because of the sound but because of the particular marches they play.
      I'm afraid it's time for the next module of my (probably very boring to some!) musical instrument lessons! There are in fact 6 Trombones in total here. The 6th one is in the 3rd row, on the other side of the Euphonium. I think it's more likely a Bass Trombone than a Tenor, although I'm not 100% sure. Unfortunately there's only one Euphonium here, but it can be heard well enough. The "Flutes" in these military bands are actually Piccolos - about half the length of a flute (and therefore play higher notes). There's only one Piccolo in this band in this video, but again it can be heard well enough.
      I agree about the acoustics when they first come out through the arch at the beginning.

    Many thanks, Military Events, for the superb coverage of what in my opinion was a splendid event in terms of the guards, the band, and the music played, despite the slight distraction already aired in some of the comments below. As ever, I also feel that thanks are due to all those behind the organisational arrangements, including the police, security and volunteers for keeping this a safe and in the main good-natured event for all, in spite of the oppressive heat on the day.

    25 seconds in, the slickest Trombone section you will ever hear of any marching band in the world that ever was. Fantastic playing! One of the few things left that makes me feel proud to be British.

      @@set3777 yeah well, we aren't in Japan PLUS if you add the opinions of the Public, Servicemen & Women, the Commonwealth & several large Countries (incl. USA) you'll find just as many who disagree with you. If you think this Band is inferior, Bugger off & watch some group of Kids. Don't come here disrespecting the Bands of the UK!!!

    Lovely video with excellent audio quality. It's a shame that a child had fun whistling with a flute in the background, and it ruined the music. I'm astonished that the parents didn't do anything.

    • @seamusnugent8523
      @seamusnugent8523 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      It's great to hear the child innocently playing along, being exposed to, and enjoying the fabulous music. We all got our love and appreciation of music at an early age somehow. What do you suggest the parents do? Such a pompous comment! Enjoyment of music is not exclusively yours I'll have you know.

    • @Robinmuk
      @Robinmuk 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      I'm with you Captain Dave, having been watching the guards since I was a small child my parents would indeed have told me to stop (if I had a flute), it's called consideration for others, something that has seemingly gone out of the window with 'modern parenting'. The most important thing you can ever teach a child (which nobody does anymore): It's not all about you. Play your flute at home all you like, but don't spoil the enjoyment of others in public, think about your actions. Parent and child.

    • @seamusnugent8523
      @seamusnugent8523 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Exactly - it's not about you. Let it be about he children and how they hear and play the music and enjoy it. Don't be a bunch of grumpy old men claiming exclusivity!!!

    • @vickyRoyalHistory
      @vickyRoyalHistory 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@seamusnugent8523 I wonder how great you'd think it was if you paid for the Privilege of Watching the Band & Detachment of Guardsmen. Or do you think it's ok for people to ruin an experience for others? Parents should not only be providing an appreciation of Music, they should be, in fact it's their duty to, to teach the skills of Social Respect & manners to their children. By all means bring a child to an event such as this, but leave Flutes, Tin Whistles & any other Instrument at home. There is NOTHING Pompous at all about that comment. I find your Arrogance & feelings of Entitlement far more offensive! The Majority of people lining the Streets of Windsor, have paid money 1 way or another, to come & see The Band & Guardsmen of the Household Divn. Something that only happens here, when you can get right up close. Tourists Pay, Citizens Pay & visitors pay, even if it's only the astronomical Parking Fees. I wonder how you'd react if you were touring Westminster Abby, the Organ is played frequently & someone's little Darling starts playing along on a Flute or toy Horn etc. especially if you'd gone at that time knowing the Organist is practising or entertaining. Your attitude is one of the things wrong with Children these Days, to hell with anyone else, I'm going to blow my flute, bang my drum, whatever I want to do & everyone else can go hee. Wonder why Children don't say "Excuse me" to get past people, "May I have a ...... Please" when they go into a Shop, "Thank you" when a Shop Keeper hands them what they asked for, & all the myriad of thinks that are collectively known as "Good Manners". Do you wonder why Children all the way up to 16 - 18 years, have no consideration for other people, playing Rap or Hip Hop Music very loudly in areas guaranteed to annoy people, I visited my Father in law in Worcester Hospital, a group of young teens had their Music Blaring just outside & you couldn't hold a normal volume conversation, no one on that Ward could nap. On the Tube, at Bus stops just 1 more example of no respect for fellow Human Beings. There are countless examples wherever you look. That's what comes from attitudes such as yours. My Children all love Music, they all played Instruments at School & 1 still plays the Piano, they also have respect for other people & wouldn't dream of playing an Instrument in such a situation as this. But then I invested the time in my children, to teach them Respect, consideration & Good Manners. They knew what was appropriate behaviour when ever we went out, I'm not saying they were little Angels, they often pushed the Boundaries, but they knew what ever they did had consequences. I'll have you know, the Problem is yours, not the people who expect others to show Respect & Consideration.

    my only critique, which is not your fault at all, was that rather annoying squeaking sound someone was making. I know they (i assume it is a child) wants to "play" along, but it unfortunately ruined the last near 5 minutes of this for me
