I have a question, where do you draw the line between what is and isn't worth it? Because in my opinion, what Sheldon was doing WASN'T worth it. Not because of how tiring the job is, or even because of how little he gets paid, but because it was a job he seems to be [almost] physically incapable of doing. Get a job to be able to earn enough money to be able to pay for the fridge again, sure, that was very good on his part, but I think the number 1 rule in picking a job to do above everything else, should be making sure you are fully capable of doing the job. He was almost incapable of delivering the newspapers, and wasn't capable at all of delivering the newspapers on time. I truly think that that, above all other good reasons, is the sole singular best reason to quit your job and replace it with another job, one that you're more physically capable of actually doing. But I digress, that's just my thoughts on the situation. But where do you personally draw the line between what is and isn't worth it, or do you think that that's up to the individual doing the job? And do you agree or disagree with everything I said?
Sheldon always thinks his problem is the worst and no1 can top his suffering, oblivious to everyone's suffering in his surroundings. But his dad made a great speech and he see his errors for once.
Is it bad for me to say that I think in this one case he really DOES have it the worse compared to other people's days, even Gorge's? Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that excuses him lashing out to his family, but what do you think is worse being yelled it by some angry parents then getting elbowed while trying to break up a fight, or spending 6 or 7 hours to do a job that will take most people only about 1 hour or so because you're [practically] physically incapable of doing it, but that job of all jobs is what you have to do. I know George specified that it was just what happened before 10am, but my point still stands. I mean he's on a bike for like 6 or 7 or so hours a day often times in the middle of a rain storm where he can hardly peddle forwards all while getting drenched and the "I had a bad day too" speach was "oh well, I got yelled at and elbowed", again NOT saying his day excuses Sheldon's behavior, just saying I think in this particular case Sheldon is right.
@nickronca1562 I agree with you to a certain extend. What I am getting at is, everyone has been through bad day in their life, no1 started strong. I don't think most people go to work, experience different hardship cause they want to buy they have to. No one have it easy. It's not about comparing whose day is worse. George probably had worse days but he doesn't go home lashing out at them. It's like comparing a failed rs, an abusive rs, and an unfaithful rs. All is painful in its own rights. Not saying who have it worse. But as an adult or kid, he has the tendency to think his life is the worse out of everybody despite everyone been facing shitty day and could lash out if they ought to. But i understand you're sharing no excuse to lash out. So that's agreeable. My main point is that, he always thinks his life is the worst. Hence, having rights to lash out on others and George being able to show him a different perspective is really something.
@@xia0pr0ice I also agree with you. You're right that the scene isn't suppose to be about comparing who has the worse day between the two of them, and you're right that Sheldon does often put his problems above everyone else's, like all the time. I mean neither are desirable, but if I had to choose between either of their two days, I would much rather choose George's day than Sheldon's day because I view it as "a bad day in a job that you're physically capable of doing vs. a bad day in a job you're [practically] incapable of doing because of a clear disability on your part". At least that's how I view it if we were playing Would You Rather, and the question was "would you rather have George's day or Sheldon's day?". But yes, I fully agree with your comment too. Everybody has bad days at work, that's very agreeable, people don't start strong that's agreeable, no one has it easy, that's mostly agreeable [I say mostly because I'm sure some people would say they have it easy with their job just not a lot], it's just to me personally if the reasoning why you don't have it easy isn't JUST because you're stuck in a job you hate, but a job that you're literally almost incapable of doing, that isn't just another example of someone having a bad day or someone disliking their job. Overall we seem to agree, just with emphases placed on different parts of the agreement 👍. But we both get at what the other one is getting at it seems. I hope you have a great day.
Now that is excellent fathering, punishment isn’t always the way to correct misbehavior, sometimes just simply talking to them with a little bit of wisdom is best, and will stick with them the longest.
Now thats the way to do it. Eventhough sheldon was wrong for mouthing at his family, his issues were pretty understandable because work is hard. I feel like george is defenitely a good father and would emphasize with them if their reason for misbehaving is understandable.
Man, I am happy that all of the Cooper childrens life turned out fine in the future. They are not a rich family but they made it. Too bad George Sr, didnt see his childrens success.
@@christopherbingham5092 living in america doesnt mean your whole life is ruined by having a bad marriage. In young sheldon it is stated that missy found a new husband and have 4 kids in total. 1:57 - the moment George hears his brilliant young son start talking about how the world keeps us down, the way his face softens as he realizes no amount of genius is going to change the way this boy feels when the weight of day to day life gets unbearable, and has a genuine connection and empathy because that's his life everyday now. Funny, cause I had to learn at his age the same thing: to not take out my frustration on others! Proof that this hsow is more relatable than a lot of shows! Also, Sheldon is just stating facts. He bothers his friends, sure, but I haven't noticed him taking his frustration always on them. In any case, I'll rewatch it to make sure!
Jim Parsons monologue is icing on the cake,Leonard may have a thing or two bout Sheldon being irritating. Ofcourse he was never abusive to anyone in TBBT
George is supposed to be a tragic character in this show. He starts off as a good father and a husband who tries his best for his family, but we’re slowly seeing his decline. Even in the later seasons, we’re seeing him slowly but surely struggle with being faithful to his wife because she doesn’t appreciate him. If BBT is to be believed, then by the end of Young Sheldon we’ll see George fully cheat on his wife, start drinking more, and inevitably die.
@@juansanchez209 My bold prediction is that, during a time of family turmoil (Georgie having a baby, both parents without jobs, Missy being a teenager, and Sheldon being Sheldon), Mary and George decide to work together to keep the family together. To spice up their intimacy, Mary wears a racy outfit during lovemaking. When Sheldon opens the door without knocking three times (for the last time), he mistakenly thinks it's another woman.
It's not that hard to understand; the screenwriters developed a story about George for TBBT. At that time Young Sheldon hadn't been conceived yet. And, as I've said before, Sheldon is an unreliable narrator. Just look at how he describes his young self. How reliable are his other memories?
I’m starting to think that this series won’t show George cheating on Mary. Throughout seasons five and six, you see him being tempted by Brenda, but there is nothing explicit or confirmed. This tells me that the series may end with the revelation that Sheldon fabricated much of his childhood life to his friends to fit his narrative. Throughout TBBT, Sheldon complains about how redneck his upbringing was in Texas, while for the most part the Coopers seem to be a pretty normal family just trying to get by. It is also seen in seasons 5 and 6 that Sheldon is learning to be more independent to the point where he believes he doesn’t need others to help him (though his love for his mother still holds true). I believe that when the series ends, an older Sheldon who has been narrating the series may admit to the viewers and to himself that because of his ego, he exaggerated many things about himself and his past more than necessary.
This is a terrific point. We already know Sheldon is an unreliable narrator , no matter how book smart he is ...he doesn't know how to read situations or people very well. And he's so self absorbed , it's unlikely he understood what was going on around him half the time.
It may seem like Sheldon didn't actually learn from this, as Adult Sheldon says that he is "never irritating or abusive" to anyone, when he clearly is. However, within this show, Sheldon does display significant character development from this incident. For example, in S5 E14 "A Free Scratcher and Feminine Wiles", Sheldon does not take his anger over his bad day at school out on his family, and instead tried to solve the problem himself. (Unfortunately, he ended up trying too hard, and got kicked out of the project.) George also takes his own commitment to this very seriously; for example in S5 E13 "A Lot of Band-Aids and the Cooper Surrender", he tries hard to avoid yelling at Mary, and to find a compromise solution. On the other hand, Mary is terrible at not taking out her anger on other people; for example, in S4 E18 "The Wild and Woolly World of Nonlinear Dynamics", she has a bad day at work, comes home, and takes her anger out on everyone despite having no idea of what was going on at the time.
@Christopher Bingham Umm, why was Sheldon not at fault? George warned him not to mess with Missy when she was having problems of her own and he went in regardless. Understanding that it's his room too and he can do what he likes, but there are things called personal boundaries and privacy. It's common sense to give a person space when they're upset especially if you're sharing a room with them. Yes, it was wrong for he to tear the poster, but he shouldn't have provoked her in the first place and let her vent out a bit. I guess he was concern about her changing up her side of the room but he stepped over the line where she got angry. Mary didn't considered to ask if Missy was okay when she was crying and only took Sheldon's side without consulting with Missy. Now how is she right?
@Christopher Bingham He did, he did something wrong, he made her mad by bringing up her problem which was not cool. Sure Missy was wrong in taking his poster and ripping it, but he still should not have provoked her like that. They are both wrong in that manner. It was his fault for making her upset even more, but I also know it's not an excuse for her to do that.
@Christopher Bingham it’s like you didn’t read a word of the replies to your comments🙄 that’s because you didn’t; you were too busy planning what to say next. I catch young attorneys doing that in my courtroom all the time, ultimately to their detriment. Here when facts and logic were offered in rebuttal you skipped over them wholesale, as if they didn’t exist, likely because they didn’t fit your narrative. The world will be nonstop conflict for you if this is how you have a disagreement in a discussion. The need to be right overpowers all else. In the end you wind up looking like a petulant child throwing a tantrum. Suffice to say it doesn’t increase your perceived intelligence either. Finally, this is just a TV show-lighten up🤦🏾♀️
@@pkdonny1018 on that's episode yes both kids were wrong but the parent that was wrong was Mary she took Sheldon side without even knowing what happened. George benched a linebacker for flunking English, because he was running out of patience with him. He found out about this after his English teacher told him what happened. George tried to break up a fight in the locker room and got elbowed in the neck because the players were beating him up for the incident. The principal and the linebacker's parents yelled at him for doing the right thing. Which is because they didn't care about him flunking English. They just want him to focus on football, they yelled at him because the incident cost them the game.
Sheldon's problem with the newspaper job is himself his act of perfectionism. He didn't even need to fold it perfectly just how Georgie taught him & he just leave the newspaper in the doormat. But instead he actually took effort making a perfect fold & even ring people's doorbell instead of just leaving it there.
What I love is George could have cut Sheldon off and punished but instead he let his son vent to him and get what was bothering him off his chest and told him it’s not to lash out at people who didn’t do anything to you and that’s why George is my new favorite TV dad
George is a human being with both good and bad characteristics. I'll mostly agree that he's a good father because occasionally he has these moments of gentleness and wisdom when you least expect them. But on an average day, he walks around the house with a beer in his hand, being grumpy and making nasty comments to everyone, especially Georgie (who himself is a good person with imperfect characteristics). George's good and bad sides are well balanced; you could go either way and have fun debating whether he should be treated with respect or condemnation. I wonder if he'll actually have "coitus with another woman" or will that story line never happen in YS, or maybe it'll turn out that Sheldon mis-perceived something. It was easy to talk bad about George in TBBT, as he was already deceased and never seen on that show (as George). But now that we've all gotten to know and like him, it'll be hard to see him as a cheating husband in that loving home. He will have to die soon. Let's see what happens...

I have a feeling Mary and Sheldon only mentioned the bad traits about George in TBBT because for Mary it was a cover for refusing to see her own flaws and for Sheldon it was a coping mechanism for dealing with his loss.
Sheldon acts up and there was about to go Meemaw to coddle him. It's either hs mom coddling her while ignoring her other kids or Meemaw making excuses for him & never holding him accountable. His father does, but he does it showing him it's tough love & the key word is LOVE. He treats him more like a man explaining things from adult perspective because he is a child amongst adults in his environment and wants him to be ready for the world. I'm glad Sheldon is starting to remember how good his dad was.

I hope you have a great day.
he is a kid lmao
It’s refreshing to see a good dad in a tv show.
Now that is excellent fathering, punishment isn’t always the way to correct misbehavior, sometimes just simply talking to them with a little bit of wisdom is best, and will stick with them the longest.
I feel sorry for George. He reminds me of my dad.
@Christopher Bingham ummmm… I don’t know what to say that won’t make this situation awkward.
The way he obeyed his dad was so cute❤
George cooper sr the father we all want and need
George is the sitcom GOAT. Hands down.
👇
Ok, I know this is just a show, but the way George took care of this situation melted my heart
💗
The one time George actually saw himself in Sheldon probably the only time
young actor delivered these lines ao brilliantly. I cried first time in the show (maybe even last 3 shows i watched)
George is a good Dad.
To Sheldon's credit, he held it together longer than I thought he would
George Sr was the best dad his kids could ever have!
I Love How George talks to Sheldon & Just Listens to what is on His mind love it when they both work it out 🫶🫶🫶🤗🤗🤗 AMAZING Episode I think!! any way
Haha I love Missy’s face at 1:10 😂
She looks so proud of him 😭
@@shadpant9255Missy is the reason Sheldon acted like that
Love George always. Great message
For the most part throughout the series anytime his kids messed up George gave them a chance to explain themselves before deciding what to do next
"Ask them, they'll tell you." See, even the narrator (Jim) makes me laugh.
Sheldon and George's parts are the best
Now thats the way to do it. Eventhough sheldon was wrong for mouthing at his family, his issues were pretty understandable because work is hard.
I feel like george is defenitely a good father and would emphasize with them if their reason for misbehaving is understandable.
I am coming back to this to see this father-son situation, and to remind that George is such a good dad, after watching few first eps of season 5.
While Georgie built an a business empire. I think him and Mandy are divorsed but in a good relationship outside marriage.
Sheldon's got the working mans blues.
1:57 - the moment George hears his brilliant young son start talking about how the world keeps us down, the way his face softens as he realizes no amount of genius is going to change the way this boy feels when the weight of day to day life gets unbearable, and has a genuine connection and empathy because that's his life everyday now. I think about this scene a lot when I'm not having a good day.
1:10 missy’s face 😂💀
2:58 as funny as that line is, anyone else find it adorable that Sheldon truly believes he’s a kind and nice person. He doesn’t know how annoying and pestering he is. In his way, he takes care to be kind and caring I find that admirable, even if he fails miserably by normal standards 😂
What a great clip of EXCELLENT parenting. George is the world's greatest dad. ❤🧡💛💚💙💜
Yeah but he isn’t gay, so quit with the rainbow hearts
@@amortality999Bro, what do u have against bright colors 😆?!
Extremely relatable.
I could actually picture the faces of Leonard, Howard and Raj 😂😂
George is the father we were told didn't exist.
Every young adult has this conversation with their dad
Never like TBBT and didn't want to give YS a chance, but the actor who plays george is amazing in this role and when Sheldon explained he exhausted and George understaning, it's how alot of us feel. Working for not a whole lot of money, always hurting, etc. this scene hits home so I think ill give it a chance. It also helos that there's no laugh track lol
Ain't gonna lie, if I ever have kids, i want to be able to parent like Big George here
Funny, cause I had to learn at his age the same thing: to not take out my frustration on others! Proof that this hsow is more relatable than a lot of shows!
Also, Sheldon is just stating facts. He bothers his friends, sure, but I haven't noticed him taking his frustration always on them. In any case, I'll rewatch it to make sure!
I hate it when someone says “you wouldn’t understand” because usually you know a lot more than that person
George is a great dad.
Jim Parsons monologue is icing on the cake,Leonard may have a thing or two bout Sheldon being irritating. Ofcourse he was never abusive to anyone in TBBT
The actors here are great! But they can only do what they do because of good writing and directing combined with their acting skills
George is such a good dad 😁❤
Brilliant parenting ❤
My dad was a little more stern but he always explained himself like George did. Miss you pops
I also think Sheldon dad Shaw something of how Sheldon feels because that how he feels when it’s about Sheldon and missy and georgie
I am never irritating or abusive to my friends..... lol
I don’t know why they painted George out to be the bad guy in BBT, what he told Sheldon about how hard a job is that tells us he’s a good parent
I watch this everytime I feel like giving up
1:46 sheldon just described every men's life in a short sentence
@Christopher Bingham Adult Sheldon says that he was kicked out, but was allowed back in after a week of apologizing and begging.
AND WE ALL KNOW CHRISTOPHER BINGHAM IS GOING TO COME UP WITH SOME EXCUSES FOR MARY. HELL Even Missy Said why do you always take his side and Mary I Don't but that's a lie cause if she didn't when Sheldon Said tore my picture Mary would have ask why did you do something to her to make her mad but no without even knowing what happened she rushed in their bedroom yelling at Missy and Mary could see that Missy was more upset then Sheldon
1:45 I can relate to him and want to express the same to everyone like sheldon did.
They just want him to focus on football, they yelled at him because the incident cost them the game.
its quite admirable that george calmly tells him why his actions are wrong without yelling
Perfectly handled
2:49 why he said finish you diner while it's morning
FR IDK
Sheldon's problem with the newspaper job is himself his act of perfectionism. He didn't even need to fold it perfectly just how Georgie taught him & he just leave the newspaper in the doormat. But instead he actually took effort making a perfect fold & even ring people's doorbell instead of just leaving it there.
What I love is George could have cut Sheldon off and punished but instead he let his son vent to him and get what was bothering him off his chest and told him it’s not to lash out at people who didn’t do anything to you and that’s why George is my new favorite TV dad
i love this show, the characters are so interesting.
Missy at 1:10!! lololol Looks like my soon to be new avatar!!
He's a good father, I don't understand why they kept talking him bad in tbbt?

I love George character here, he’s such a good father! 😊
0:04 rare moment where sheldon is sarcastic
Actually that wasn't technically sarcastic. It was sardonic and condescending, but sarcasm is when one says the opposite of what one means to convey said sardonicism or condescension or to signify irony.
"I am not just tired, I'm exhausted. Everything hurts. I get up in the morning to do this job I dont even like and I am doing it just for the money and its not even a lot of money. I keep trying harder and harder and it doesnt even make a difference."
As a worker struggling making ends meet with no back up, this hits so close. 😢
3:08 Sheldon: “Ask them, they’ll tell you.”
That you are wrong.
This kid is the modern Shirley Temple. I just want him to have the kind of parents that Ron Howard had so that he is kept grounded and real.🙂🙂
people can get mad I don't care but Shirley temple wasn't all that good she pretty much did the same stuff all the time if she was a child star today she would not make it
I m in love with parenting of this couple
Bill ponderosa really changed his life around ! Good for him ! ❤️
Excellent, George. Sheldon, are you in a dream world?
I have a feeling Mary and Sheldon only mentioned the bad traits about George in TBBT because for Mary it was a cover for refusing to see her own flaws and for Sheldon it was a coping mechanism for dealing with his loss.
1:54 aw man, this actor is so good.
Life lessons indeed.
George Sr rage can be so extreme at times 😤
Wow this is a really good scene. much eager to watch this series. If it was in my family, my mama will just beat me up and everyone at home is taking their anger on each other. That's wisdon and patience right there.
still my all time favorite episode
Great life lessons❤
I love how Messy looks when she sense trouble
I hear screams from Leonard at the end 🤣🤣
Proof that George was a better parent than Mary, a thousand times over.
This is the America i miss
Well, technically he’s right. He doesn’t really vent his anger at his friends. The irritating issue is just with everything else he does. 😂
Good father george ❤️
Mary really should've stepped back and let George do more of the parenting. Maybe Sheldon wouldn't have turned out to be such a self centered asshole.
1:08 Mary's face haha
