About Young Sheldon:

When Mary said she was hoping to befriend Paige’s mom, that hit me so hard. We kids think about ourselves so much that we forget our parents need emotional companions too. That’s why it always makes me feel content when my mom has someone else outside the family to talk to.
I think it was just a strategy to make him consider Paige as a friend

You know Sheldon and Paige relationship reminds me of me and a girl that I was friends with we’re both 7 years old and we’re kinda boyfriend and girlfriend but her mom didn’t like when every time I’m with her and she left the school, that was 6 years ago but I miss her so much and I just wish I could see her again

That is such a ridiculous sentence because let's not for one moment think that Paige's impressions on Sheldon will just magically go from good to bad because if this sentence was true, it would take 8 to 12 months for that to happen. You know why? 'Cause it took that long for Elizabeth Bennet and Mr Darcy to change how they saw each other as human beings when Mr Darcy was judging the family based on their low financial security and Elizabeth was judging him over disinheriting Wickham and breaking up a pending marriage between her sister Jane and his close friend Mr Bingley. But let's also not think that Sheldon and Paige are both similar in any way to Elizabeth Bennet and Mr Darcy and let's also not think that this episode of Young Sheldon is at all, anything like the book or the film of Pride and Prejudice. Let's just say that if someone doesn't make a good impression on someone and you think it can change, it's a true possibility that it could take 8 to 12 months for that to happen, as I'm claiming. Which means I am starting to think that you might be referring to Sheldon and Paige or Elizabeth Bennet and Mr Darcy. And to answer your question, the fact that it takes 8 to 12 months for an impression of someone to change is obviously based on the Pride & Prejudice theory of how long it took for Elizabeth Bennet and Mr Darcy to see sense and stop judging themselves & each other. But for reality, it depends on the situations and circumstances on how long it takes for an impression on someone to change. Enjoy the rest of today, Core Brute!

What Meemaw really said was that she wanted Sheldon to continue to be spoiled, as always.
Too bad that Paige's desperate flirting didn't work on Sheldon. Paige NEEDED the strength Sheldon had to manage his life, which Paige didn't have.
As a result, Paige starts going off the deep end getting in a lot of trouble, dropping out of college, being homeless and so on. Paige was growing up to be a "strong, independent woman" and unable to manage the consequences of that.
Sorry.. but at that age... A cute girl hugging me would've been like....
...a bragging level event. But while it would be a confidence builder... A guy who liked her (as Sheldon clearly did...even if he didn't have maturity to recognize his feelings...)would keep silent. Mary and Paige's Mom both had similar children and Mary hoped that having that in common they could be friends.
Paige didn't know anyone else who was as smart as she was - other than Sheldon - so she really did like him. She also liked beating him at things. With other people - it wasn't a challenge but with Sheldon it was. She was smarter than Sheldon and pretty much had his number - so - their encounters were fun for Paige. This stayed true until Paige decided to drop out of college.
