Ideas : what I eat in a day; main meals from my store cupboard; what Im planning to grow to eat ( and what kind of meals that produces). Hope these suggestions help!
Love haggis! Such a good idea to do it in pastry too. My usual is with neeps and tatties, so I'm going to give the haggis sausage rolls a go. Thanks Ali👍
Tonight’s dinner will be the other half of butternut squash curry that we had on Christmas Eve…and left over trifle for pudding! Lovely walk on Rye marshes today, where we saw lots of wader birds, and then picked up a half price wall calendar for 2025 with gorgeous bird illustrations for each month. Happy New Year Ali!🎉
Happy New Year, Ali and Luna. Thanks for the entertaining and informative videos you have posted this year. I think that many people have never learned a) how to manage a budget and b) how to cook from scratch, so they can end up spending a fortune on processed foods, takeaways etc with consequences detriment to their health and wealth. Some ideas for possible future videos - weekly meal planning, home-made packed lunches, vegetarian meals, yearly budgeting (planning for big ticket items, holidays etc), making your own cleaning products (and do we need 20 different cleaners in the home?), choosing the best savings accounts. Just some ideas off the top of my head here. Have a fabulous 2025! 🎉
Well on Boxing Day I made homemade custard for Portuguese custard tarts. Well life got in the way and have ended up in hospital. Have issued a challenge to my husband to make them. Have given him instructions from my hospital bed so hopefully I’ll be getting tart’s this afternoon.
@ thanks Jana, haven’t seen them yet but the house didn’t burn down and he said that they aren’t crisp but still taste good. Proud of him for doing it.
Sausage rolls cooked, open topped pork pies with a teaspoon of branston at the bottom cooked and pork mince with a hint of black pepper and Donar spices shaped into rolls and currently cooking. As you were talking I saw the wee nose and a hint of Luna… Lol…thanks to foodie Friday as it confirms the day for me… No left overs as I had cod on Christmas Day, the remainder of the chicken curry and I batch cooked a beef Massaman curry yesterday so I’ll have a portion of that with a some basmati rice today..
Looks yummy! I would love to try haggis. I grew up on blood/black pudding at Christmas. Which most people find revolting but I love it!! I live in Ontario Canada and I'm not sure where to find haggis.
Hi, Fellow Ontarian! I love blood/black pudding, as well. I love my haggis for sure and I have managed to buy some in several UK Shops within a 55 km. radius in Peterborough/ Northumberland Counties. The haggis is usually frozen. I'd really like to be able to find some canned. I am definitely going to try Ali's recipe - never thought of putting haggis in pastry. Yummy! Good luck in finding some.
Happy New Year Ali and Ms Luna. Speaking of supermarkets, no deals here. Today I went on line ( 27th) and most things I normally buy have gone up in price! Yet again. Greedy retailers, supposedly inflation is down yet they keep on gouging. B.C. Canada.
The haggis rolls look delicious! Would it work with black pudding? I didn’t have the best Christmas… I stayed with friends who cooked nice food but unfortunately my friend didn’t realise my food intolerances are quite severe and not me being fussy and I she accidentally ’poisoned’ me … so you can imagine that something like food poisoning would put a dampen on my Christmas celebration … but it can happen.. not the end of the world.. thank you for all your videos. They helped me a lot during some really hard and sad times… Lots of love and good wishes for a great 2025 to you and Luna 💓
Haggis is delicious! And actually vegetarian haggis is also top tier - so no excuses not to eat it! Using some up as sausage rolls is a great plan! I'm now craving a good haggis.....
Just out of interest have you looked at the subtitles for this because it's sure having trouble with your accent, especially the word haggis , it's really quite funny, anyway I spent this morning making leftovers pasties and putting more leftover veg into bubble and squeak, we don't waste anything. Hope you had a great Christmas and good luck for the new year.
I'm not a fan of haggis, although I love sausages and the balls made of minced off-cuts (the actual name of which TH-cam tells me erroneously isn't allowed) - I think it's the oatmeal that makes it too dry and "mealy" for my liking. But making it into sausage rolls sounds a good idea, and might overcome my issues with it, especially if it was mixed with something else, like the caramelised onion chutney.
I say ..if you can take a breath when you wake up -you got what you wanted! 😃🎉
Trifle for breakfast, love it.

Yep, great ideas. Thanks! :-)
Ooh! Never thought of putting haggis into a sausage roll! Wow! Very yum! X
When we visited Scotland many years ago, I got to eat Haggis and just loved it.
Thank you so much for your videos Ali. Perhaps a Scottish desert like cranachan people might enjoy

Blimey! Get well soon :-)
Hope you are keeping and that hubby did a great job. With your coaching of course.

@ good news. Get well soon, hugs from western Canada.
He brought me one into hospital, pastry not crisp but still good

Hi Ali. From Australia 🇦🇺
Looks yummy! I would love to try haggis. I grew up on blood/black pudding at Christmas. Which most people find revolting but I love it!! I live in Ontario Canada and I'm not sure where to find haggis.

@@AnneManley Thank you. I live in London Ont. The hunt is on....

Hubby and I like haggis - not seen it in tins but maybe that is only in Scotland. We are having roast beef dinners given to us by middle daughter.
I'm having peaches and jelly and cream for breakfast
Happy Christmas Ali and lots of good things for the new year ❤
enjoyed the video

Sorry you were 'poisoned' I hope you're feeling better. I think it would work with black pudding but not tried it myself
Thank you Ali. I’ll have to try next time I get it!
I love watching your foodie Friday videos - was you a cookery teacher when you were working?? 😊
Lol, no. I was a primary teacher, I taught 4 and 5yos!! I think that's why I can explain stuff clearly :-)
🌟🌟🌟
Could you cook an Apple Pie please Ali. Happy New Year to you and your Family. ❤
Ooo not made an apple pie for ages!! I'll put it on my list :-)
Liking you have a vlog up today, love getting back to normal, much as Christmas is nice
I actually meant the leftovers ideas vlog to be published today but got my days mixed up!! So you get a wee extra one as well 😂

Hi, how can it be vegetarian if it has lamb bits in it?
Veggie haggis is delicious too!!
@@BinkieUrquhart I'm not using veggie haggis in this video but you can buy veggie haggis. It's good too 🙂
@@BinkieUrquhart Veggie haggis doesn't have a lamb base, obviously. It's made up of seeds pulses and other vegetables.

Yes the subtitles widget doesn't do well with the Scottish accent!! I do try to speak as clearly as I can just in case :-)

Blesssed 2025 Ali and Luna xxx
Your turnips are so cheap and large, we get really small ones here in Australia and I paid over $2 for it. 😮
