Hello from East Kilbride. A fantastic yellow sticker haul & some great batch cooking, your meals look delicious. 'Stroganoffy' is a fantastic word! LOL.
I love your creative attitude to cooking, a girl after my own heart. Everything looks yummy. I have had a low spend December and am going to try for a no spend January. I have two weekends away in January but they are already paid for and I will travel with a cool bag so that I can keep the cost of food low.
What a great find Ali! When I make pork I let it cook for 1 hour to make it soft and nice to eat. I usually use salt, paprika and peppermix and some veggiestock to get a tasty sauce. I use potato flour to thicken the sauce (that’s what my body tolerates😉). What a great TH-cam-year you’ve had. Congrats!
My cats are just the same this week - climbing the curtains and jumping off the kitchen cupboards - though they are now finally asleep. Their days this holiday have been starting at 4am so not the rest I was hoping for!! Well done on your bargains!
Great bargains Ali. Also brilliant recipes. If I'm doing a pork stroganoff I brown off the meat/veg etc add the stock then pop in the slow cooker as it makes the pork very tender, add some mustard too its delicious, then the cream to the slow cooker ½ an hour before it's ready. You're definitely prepped and ready with all the bargain extras, and such a good use of the ingredients 👍👏👏 lovely video!
Great video Ali! Love a bargain haul! 😁 Regarding your pork bits being a bit tough, try covering them in a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda for 15 minutes before you cook them, and cut across the grain, the bicarbonate tenderises the meat 🤤
More a goulash than a stroganoff with capsicum instead of mushrooms and no sour cream, Ali. Looks and smells nice though, from where I am sitting. I think the sizzling sounds and glorious colours, made me be able to smell it, quite distinctly. Amazed me too. I love the idea of having a crack at making my own butter when cream is knocked down to nothing. Butter is now so expensive here in Australia, it is almost a luxury item if not on special. I love my butter.
pork stir fry is lovely too with those pork strips. it's cheaper to avoid using a sachet of sauce. Just add in a clove of sliced garlic with soy sauce if you have already in your kitchen cupboard. Also a few drops of sesame oil which lasts because you really only need about 3 drops of it once it is of the heat only. Delicious. The Co-op do a cheap online stirfry veg of just 1/2 white shredded cabbage, 1 clove garlic and a red onion, soy sauce. really easy and cheap and basic but sooo tasty. We have had it a lot.
I cook the same way from raw ingredients making it up as I go along. So far so good. Pork is my favourite, try slow cooking for melt in the mouth pork.
Definitely a good week to go 'yellow sticker' hunting! I've just done my regular grocery delivery order for tomorrow. I had hoped that because of the mounds of Christmas leftovers I will be using up it would be a really cheap week- sadly, although definitely on the cheap side of normal, it's not been as economic as I'd hoped. Never mind....there's always next week! (I've literally just finished lunch, and still your stroganoff had my mouth watering!)
I quite often use pork to make stroganoff I add tomato paste and crushed garlic as well. Great cooking . Everything is better if you can get marked down food
Hi Ali, my first try with the oatcake recipe - made it a little dry, but still tasted great. I'll know better enxt time. Thank you so much for the recipe😊
Wow Ali !! what a great wee bargain haul lots of lovely nutricious creations made from this. The amount of butter you made is astonishing! ❤ 😊 thankyou for sharing
I love a stroganoff. Always had it with mushrooms though. I need to prep and freeze my bargain veg today! Im going to turn carrots and swede into mash and freeze for a later date - it freezes well! Lemon juice and cream = sour cream quite often in my house. I got some bargains on Saturday- £2 for 20 meatballs fed us last night and will feed my son today. Im trying for a 'no spend' + 'low spend' groceries ( = oly meat and veg on yellow sticker or offer). Ive booked a couple of days away at a spa at the end of Feb. It is going to cost me £160. So I need to pay myself back for that! But I really need a break - it is only 30 miles from me but driving back once one is relaxed was a pain last time! Also, it fits in with my goal for 2025, which is to get fitter ( it has a pool!)
Hi Ali, lovely haul!. I must say that the frying noise was very loud and it was hard to make out what you were saying. What you could do in the editing for cooking videos is add a voiceover for those parts, but I think then you'd need a microphone. (You'd be turning down the frying sound in that case.) Something to think about and play around with! It's wonderful that you might also have a low-spend January! Happy New Year when it comes!
She goes about 20 mins before closing when they're marking everything down for the last time. My community food shop has sadly closed down (council pulled the funding for their rent) so the supermarkets are desperate to sell stuff instead of binning it as they can no longer donate it. She got really lucky on Friday night with stuff for me and herself which is why I ended up going to collect her by car!
Hi Ali, thanks for your inspiring video. I love to hear your voice naturally as it’s very lively and positive. Unfortunately I found the voice over a bit low and dull sounding compared to how you usually sound. Hope my feedback is helpful. Thanks again.
Hi Ali, in my previous life my husband and I had our own business and most of our work was editing our videos. I don't know what programme you're editing on, but, if you can lower the background noise, it would help us to hear your voice over. Congratulations on your haul and for trying new editing skills. Keep up the good work.❤
@@sheenamcleod3386 I'm now back to using iMovie and I've figured out how to remove/lower the audio from clips. After a few more videos it's be slicker (I hope!!) 😂
Any meat that might be tough - i cook it up in a pan, then put it in a slow cooker. Always turns out more flavourful and tender.
"Stroganoffy". Lol. If it isn't a word it really should be ...great inspiration as always.

Thank you Ali for another wonderful informative video. I’m happy to watch all the advertising to support your new part time job! Have a lovely week.
What a great deal!
Merry Christmas and happy new year ❤
Thank you so much for this food video, I found it really helpful.
Great video. Love sassy Luna😂 such a pup still. ❤

Thanks Ali. The food looks very tasty 😋

Happy New Year Ali. Food looks great. Love to Luna. 🥰🥰🥰
I discovered a few months ago that freezing cream before making it into butter speeds up the process.
Oooo, interesting!! I'm going to try that next time :-)
I’m a vegan but I do know that you have to cook pork really well. Just found your video and found it really good.
Pork stir fry might have been safer... Totally agree about pork always being tough. If anyone has any tips?

Yep still figuring out the microphone and sound quality but I'll get there :-)
If the cream is akready on its use by date how long does the butter keep for?
❤❤❤
Pleased your channel is growing 😊
When I cook pork cutlets I find you have to simmer it for quite a while. It gets tough and then the longer you cook it it gets a bit tender again
I would love to know how you make your butter please
There's a link to my butter making video in the description. It's this one th-cam.com/video/CpCo-34btvQ/w-d-xo.html
@@aliliveswellonless Thankyou I will check it out.
Add a knob of butter with your meat when browning, adds flavour and browns quicker.
That’s an incredible reduction Ali. What sort of time of day does your daughter in law go to the shop please? Is it very late?

I’m vegetarian, but if I cook pork for any meat eater, I always do it in the slow cooker….
I think on a voiceover you are supposed to turn off the video sound. Hard to hear with the loud sizzling pan!
Yep I realised that afterwards!! Lol!

@aliliveswellonless well done Ali. You're doing a great job. Wishing you a happy and healthy 2025 💓
Ali, I had great problems hearing what you were saying whilst frying the meat especially. The predominant sound was the oil spitting.
I meant to remove the audio for that bit but forgot. I'll know the next time!! :-)
How did you make the butter ?

Yay! Thank you and welcome! :-)
Hi Ali,
When you do a voice over you can turn down the back ground noise. It was hard to hear you.
Yep, I've now figured out how to remove the audio so I can add a voiceover. I'm always learning :-)
Do you have an instagram account, have given me some ideas of what to cook, thanks. Happy New Year to you xx
No I don't have Instagram, just YT and the blog :-)
@ not on fb either? Where do I find the blog? x
