      @@HeatherBoydWire I was so pleased too. I ordered a batch of earring hooks from Amazon and they snapped in my fingers whilst assembling the and connecting the beads. I went to my local craft store and the findings were so expensive. So finding this video has given me the ability to make my own and also guarantee they will not snap off. Thank you again.

    Nicely done Heather! Close up and simple directions!
    I thought, however, that metal wire needs to be hardened. Am I wrong?
    Each time I try to make jewelry I get set back with all the steps (& equipment) I think I don't know. Some jewelers show having to use a hammer and block. I'm just afraid to put my "shingle" out and find out I'm making shoddy/unprofessional pieces. Oh, and I went with brass wire, findings, etc. (I think the brass wire is actually copper with a plating.)

    • @HeatherBoydWire
      @HeatherBoydWire  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you. You can work harden the wire with a mallet if your wire is soft. I generally use half hard Argentium wire to make my own earring hooks and they are fine. Good luck Heather.

      It depends on your ear. Some people are very sensitive. I would only use surgical or stainless steel or silver!

      You can buy Argentium silver wire on the Rio Grande website. I recommend 21g half hard for the hooks

    • @HeatherBoydWire
      @HeatherBoydWire  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Make sure the hold in your bead isn't too big also make sure you do a sharp bend above the bead so it doesn't slip. Good luck.

    Are they safe to use tho

    • @HeatherBoydWire
      @HeatherBoydWire  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, if you use hypo-allergenic wire if you are sensitive. You can use sterling or Argentium silver, surgical steel or even brass/copper if your ears are not sensitive. Do not use aluminum for these!

      Hi Lili: I'm not sure you'd want to put the paperclip wire in your ear. My ears would explode if I did that cuz they are very sensitive.
