Thanks Heather! Should I hammer after making ear wires to set the shape?
Yes, you can hammer the wire with a rawhide mallet. I should have suggested that and will add it to the description. THANK YOU.
This was such a great tutorial! Very simply put. It all made sense and seems so easy the way you do it.
Thank you Debbie.
Great, clear instructions, thank you! I’d to love to have your booklet mentioned at the end of the video. Thank you very much.

Yeah this is great
Thank you! VERY helpful.
You are very welcome Fran.
Awesome simple hoops. Sorry miss you today, morning comes way too early when I have been up past 4am lately. What I did with my hoops the other day, was while they were still wrapped around the bottle I took my pliers to make many tiny kinks in them, that make them actually look more shiny. I made mine with 18 g copper. ☺♥
That's cool Joan. Did you post a pic in the group?
@@HeatherBoydWire Yes I did, 2-3 days ago?! It was an inspiration from Jewelry by BDK but I ended up doing 4 versions ☺♥

@@HeatherBoydWire ur welcome 🙏
thanks!!
You are very welcome!
Hi, very good explanation!!!!! I am going to try(!!!!!!) to make them out of paperclips. Hope you don't mind
Hi Elena. Thank you. I wouldn't advice putting paperclips in your ear due to the metal.
Great tutorial - thanks. It might be good to mention measuring wire beforehand, as your techniques wastes wire when you snip at the end. Just a thought.
Thank you. That's a great idea.
Love this video! Can you recommend a good wire for sensitive ears? I am looking for both gold and silver ideas to make this exact earring. Thank you!!
I would advise argentium or sterling silver ear wires. Surgical steel is also good. Unfortunately some people can only where gold.
Thank you. I was going to buy some loops but then I thought why should I pay all that money for something I can do myself for a fraction of the cost. Thank you so much for sharing.
You are very welcome.
So neet work
Thank you
Hiii Heather ☺️ I watch on F.B. I'm very much interested in doing earrings..feel so happy when doing beading..I'm now wanting to try ear wiring
Cool hoops, Heather! What type of wire would you suggest for people with sensitive ears (my sister has to buy nickel-free earings), and what hardness? I don't feel like I have a good understanding of wire options.
You can use 1/2 hard sterling or Argentium silver. I have bought it on Etsy before.
@@HeatherBoydWire Thanks Heather. One more wire question . . . Artistic Wire packaging doesn't give it's temper, so how do I know about that?
Love this!!!! I made these with the same18 guage wire but when they are removed they lose there shape. I will be selling these so I really need something that holds its shape. Do I need german style medium temper wire? Its supposed to hold its shape? And if so can you get that type through your pierced ear? Hope this makes sense LOL!!!
Hi Jennie: I use Artistic wire for my samples but if you are going to wear or sell diy earring hooks you need to use hypo-allergenic wire. I use 1/2 hard 20 gauge Argentium wire for my higher end jewelry that I sell. You can also use surgical or stainless steel in 22 gauge. Please do not put German wire or coated wire in your ears!
Thank you so much!!!! :*)

I signed up on Facebook for the wire makers club but never received the ebook. How do I sign up for that?? Joan
Thanks Joan. The ebook is not through Facebook, but through my website: www.heatherboydwire.com/newsletter/ Please let me know if you have trouble signing up. Thank you, Heather.
👍👍👍❤️
Thanks!
Which wire did you use? Soft or half hard? The loops (2nd pair) don’t work with basic soft wire.
I would use half hard wire for these hooks. When I make earring hooks to sell I use Argentium silver wire.
@@HeatherBoydWire Thank you 🙏🏻
Hi! Do you have a link for the wire rounding tool?
Hi Nat: There are a few on Amazon. You can also buy electric ones: amzn.to/3IJ6Ljy
@@HeatherBoydWire thank you for replying! :)
Do you use sterling silver wire
I would use sterling or argentium silver wire for earring hooks. You can also use surgical steel.
Ok so I could make the loop itself from something else thanks
Can someone please tell how to insert that round hooked earring in your ears, I am legit struggling with that
The end is slightly bent to hold it in the loop, but you should not bend it too much as this part goes in your ear.
I don't understand how you use the earring hooks, can you explain them?
You can wear them as hoops or dangle beads from the loops.
@@HeatherBoydWire Oh I see! I thought they go over your ears! I was born in the 70s so there are all these new types of ear wires I've never seen before! Thanks!
Will it harm our ears ??
I would use sterling or argentium silver if you are going to wear them. I use copper for my samples.
@@HeatherBoydWire thankyou so much can you make the stud ear hoops
