    Beautiful job and wonderful explanation! I'm happy to see that you make your wraps the same way I do: by keeping the round-nose pliers inside the loop while wrapping the wire. That helps to maintain the shape of the loop. Thanks for the tips!

    Hello. Are your wires soft or half hard?

    • @FireMountainGems
      @FireMountainGems  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello. The ear wires created in this video were created with half hard wire.

    • @FirstLadyyyyyyy

      @@FireMountainGems thank you a lot. How about the pins? Do you think 7mm soft silver wires would be too soft for using as pins and making circles on the bead to attach them to the hooks?

    Thanks for this- very clear. Is it OK to use a plated wire (like German style silver plated wire) for ear wires?

    • @FireMountainGems
      @FireMountainGems  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you can. For those individuals that are sensitive to metals plated wire isn't the best material to use, however.

      @@FireMountainGems Thank you for the reply! That was one of my concerns (I'm new to jewelry-making) - this is very helpful in deciding what to keep on hand. Have a nice day!

    Full hard? Half hard? Dead soft?

    • @FireMountainGems
      @FireMountainGems  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi. Since dead soft is very malleable, you wouldn't want to use that tempered wire. Now, half-hard wire is also malleable but it can be hardened to be less malleable but not as hard as full hard wire. So, you can use half hard or full hard to make these and other ear wires. However, if your earring project is kind of a weighty one, you'd be better off using full hard.
