I have the July trunk, so it doesn't have the front pocket. But it does have a similar clasp, and aluminum frame with a polycarbonate shell like the Carl Friedrik. In terms of size and room, very comparable, but if that front pocket is important, another July model that has one is the Carry-on pro. I think July veers more playful and colourful while the options for Carl Friedrik all look similar. Edit: July also comes with an ejectable battery while CF doesn't.
The July Carry-on Pro Trunk's front pocket doesn't fit a 16" MacBook Pro, so I got both the July Carry-on Pro and CF carry-on X. Both are top-tier carry-on luggage in their categories. When I tried fitting a cased 16" MacBook Pro and a cased 13" iPad in the front pocket, it was tight in the July model-I worried stacking them might cause damage. The CF model, while spacious, exceeds international carry-on size limits and is somewhat heavy. For those who don't need a front pocket and prefer lightweight luggage, I'd recommend the Samsonite C-lite.
I love the zip sounds
Hi there - great video! How does this compare to the July Trunk Pro that you showed briefly in your video?

Why not buy the zipper version of Carl Friedrik ? I think its called the Core. Would that be close to Monos?
What an interesting hybrid. Do you think it’s actually safe for a laptop?
I wouldn't check this suitcase with a laptop in it, that's for sure. But for carry on, it looks solid.
Are any of the more affordable brands producing aluminum cases? Like more affordable than Away or Monos?
Level8 has one that is reasonably priced: shrsl.com/4nwxg
