I decided to try a MVST suitcase and have had a poor experience, unfortunately. The suitcase got badly damaged in first check-in (with a “fragile” sticker on it!). It’s not just dents - the suitcase now wobbles and wheels don’t move properly. MVST says they won’t refund it even though it’s clearly a major quality issue, and they can’t replace it for 2 months, so I don’t have a usable suitcase and I’m down ~$500. I would advise caution people to stay away.

Same experience. One flight and my black one is severely damaged-dented, scratched, color missing. They refuse to replace it or refund it. I had it less than a week when I contacted them. Horrible quality and so much money wasted (I have the large one). When I commented on Instagram in an attempt to get a response from CS, they hid the comment. The quality is a joke. Such a shame because their luggage is gorgeous but USELESS.

@@devinkielle Unfortunately, all aluminum luggage is prone to dents and scratches. That's just the nature of the material.
All the aluminum luggage manufacturers play down this aspect of their products.
Consumers often find out the hard way that luggage warranties do not cover cosmetic issues such as
dents and scratches that were the result of baggage handling.
You used the words "severely damaged" Does that mean the luggage is no longer functional ?

The majority of luggage at this price point (and even lower) will tend to survive the first few trips without incident. But no matter the price range, if luggage isn't well engineered, or uses inferior parts, all bets are off when it comes to longevity.
For example, Rimowa wheels have bearings, and will roll smoothly and last longer than MVST, who use cheaper wheels to keep costs down. Rimowa owners can also purchase replacement wheels from the company, if there is ever a wheel related problem post-warranty. In contrast, some other companies have wheels that can't be replaced -either by design or availability. In fairness to MVST, their 5 year warranty includes wheel replacement.
Other key components, such as latches are another area where quality can vary greatly between Rimowa and the cheaper copy-cat companies. Again, it's a matter of quality taking a back seat to cost savings for the manufacturer.
The true measure of good luggage is in its longevity. All luggage will take a battering during repeated travel. Even Rimowa. Whether handled by bitter rampies or processed via demolition derby inspired conveyor belts, no luggage escapes the wrath of the baggage handling process.
While this review by Family Day Off certainly provides a lot of useful information, it would be interesting and very useful to provide an update after a year or 2 of use, and see how the MVST cases have fared.

it's not always that way. unless you have the specific component of their price. RIMOWA might be more expensive not necessarily using more quality materials. might be that their ads and sponsorships mark up the cost or simple their mark up on the items price due to branding..

It's a good option but aluminum in general weighs more than you would think over the plastics and it's not as forgiving for stuffing your luggage. With that said, I made the switch to MVST and don't regret it. I feel my belongings are better protected and their stuff is a quality build. Nice video.

My MVST 22” is smaller than my Monos 22” and larger than my Samsonite 20”. So it’s really a 21”. For me when I travel with only one bag that size differential matters. The wheels as you mentioned are inferior to the Monos and Samsonite. They just don’t roll as smoothly. I’ve tested them in airport concourses side by side. I recommend looking at other “true” 22” carry on aluminum cases. There are plenty in this price range.

If I paid a premium price for luggage I could never let airline staff abuse it, thus it would have to be carry on. Check bags might as well be trash, because they will treated as such by the guys loading bags.

      @cody7068 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

I’m a Ramp Agent for American Airlines while waiting to get a date to head to flight school, and some guys do toss around the luggage pretty harshly. I’m very interested in personal items involving travel, and luggage happens to be the main item. I will admit that I do not treat the cheaper luggage as nicely as i do the higher end luggage. I know the prices of these and what brands they are. When I see a RIMOWA (Very, very, very rarely. I’ve seen maybe 5 the entire time I’ve been here) or really any Aluminum luggage, Louis Vuitton luggage (I genuinely believe they’re fake, I do not believe anyone is stupid enough to put a $5-10k check bag in the cargo hold willingly) and always treat it very well, I’ve had this conversation with other employees and they say they also do it. So some guys will chunk your $2000 RIMOWA check bag like it’s a stuffed animal and some will take care of it, I try to take care of it. My advice is DO NOT get a expensive piece of luggage unless you’re going to have it as a carry on, unless you make so much money that you don’t care about replacing it every 5-7 trips, which could be a whole round trip with connection.

@Family Day Off one of the internal zippers broke the very first time I was packing my bag. Immediate red flag as I travel for work almost weekly and need something that is reliable and quality made. I contacted the company right away and wanted to get a refund, they kept arguing saying that they could replace the bag, but not issue a refund. I explained that I've never even used the bag, and that I'm within the 30 day return window. Finally they sent me instructions for a return process, but in the instructions it says that you have to have the original box, which I had already disposed of. I told them that and they said that I'm not eligible for a refund if I don't have the box.
I ended up going through with a formal return request, and I was granted a return shipping label. I sent it back to them in another box I had and it's been about a week since they received it back and haven't gotten a refund yet. When I tried to ask them about it I only got an automatic email back discussing the status of the initial shipment to me.
There's no phone number to call, only a chat. And the email gives you automatic replies almost every time, and never anyone to answer your questions. The customer support is abysmal, and they are doing everything they can to keep your money. It's a crappy company with low-quality bags.

Samsonite is also made in GERMANY like Rimowa but people in the United States don't know about it much. So 50% product failure is NOT good. This is a major impact in functionality since you use the telescoping handle when rolling throughout the airport. So take your chances with MVST. And you say locks as in plural - on the same case or two different ones? Also, likewise you mentioned a problem with wheels? I often fly with audio gear (fragile / $$) for work and always carry on a minimal kit to get the job done just in case something happens with the larger check in. And occasionally I must gate check my carry-on so the idea of extra protection is comforing. Plus with aluminum as least I can quickly tell if the bag took a hit or was squashed. Showing celebrities with a product should not convince anyone. The thought mentality is that if the rich are buying x product, it _must be worth the price_ . However, companies understand this social perception, which is why Companies _give free products to the rich_ .

@@familydayoff Hmm... I've certainly had (and have) less expensive luggage. For me, it's the luxury aspect of Rimowa. The story behind the brand, the reasoning for being aluminum, the price. Sure my $80 luggage from Costco also gets it done, but I enjoy my Rimowa much more. I disagree that "good branding" has fools buying into lies. We may all have different opinions as to "worth" but using cost of materials as the sole determiner of value (as I see often in various comment sections) is a shortsighted argument. Good branding also tells a brand's story in a way that highlights and represents their ideals and ethos, and answers the all important question, "why?"

@@familydayoff You have a referral code. You get a kickback to convince viewers to purchase. It couldn't be more blatant.

They gave the code after we made the video. We didn’t know we were getting a referral link til the video was done. Are you still unconvinced?

@@russelmaharaj6560 We actually got the affiliation after showing this video to them (after getting 10k views). We didnt expect it at all. We just trully like the luggage after researching so much. How should we approach this next time? we do tend to be to biased with things we love a lot haha!
