Anyone who claims to be a Tradesmen & I don’t care if your a plumber or Deck Builder ( I am a finish carpenter / contractor / solo , so small) and you call another Tradesmen with Dr Decks history in the business is shameful ! It’s hard enough working with customers who claim to be expert DIY’s criticizing our work then comes some other Tradesmen/ women saying goofy things! I hv been asked to leave Job sites 2 times in 14 yrs because ppl do not understand how Crown Molding goes on? They were certain it’s like base board ? So whoever you are ? Dr Decks you are a credit to our profession keep up the expert work!
Hey Doc! Ive been a carpenter for 38 years. decks, siding, interior trim and remodeling, repair work. Everyone has their own ways of doing things that others just have to point out and gripe about. I enjoy your videos and seeing how you go about your projects. You take pride in your work and thats what makes you a damn good deck builder. Keep up the great work and videos. Best wishes from NC!
True to life builder, you are. Tapped up fingers and bloody stumps. I love this. You and I come from the same school! Your tips and tricks are the real deal. Finish product is tits!
Great job as always Doctor. Your vision and expert attention to detail is second to none !!! I really appreciate your honesty !! I and many others have learned a lot from you. Keep up the good work !! Thank for sharing your experience with us .
I've watched so many videos of different types of builders from whole house to landscapers to retaining walls etc, and for those who are top notch builders who take pride in their work and work to do things the right way, I always end up wishing I could find such contractors locally. It's become the same thing with drdecks. I'm binge watching your videos. They are awesome, and once again wish I could find someone locally just like you. Then I come across one with the name Renton in the title. I thought, could that be Renton, WA? It was. I had a big smile on my face knowing who I can call when I'm ready for a new deck. I was so busy going from one video to the next, that I didn't stop to check your website in the description. I will be doing that next. Thanks for all the great videos.
Wind chimes. People who have them are obviously aliens (from another planet). Very nice work on this deck by the way. Looks great. Very great. No joke. You have a super eye for what looks good and the way to pull off a great look. Been a sub for years. Learning alot as they go buy. I am going to have to one day replace our deck that has stood since 1992. Wraps around a 32 by 30 foot log home. So , all the pointers and things you go into are helpful. Peace from Michigan
Clown 😂..... yea righhhht!! you will ALWAYS get those "haters" who only "THINK" they know what they are doing, and talking about. but only to realize, there is a true method to the madness... they need to just STFU and watch a master at his craft. Another beautiful completed project Sir. Wish you had an eastcoast office because I would pay to be your apprentice. I love everything you do. As ive said on many of my comments.. i wish you and your crew ALL the best. By the way, how you liking that new DWS781 ? Is it better ? Cheers 🍻
There’s more to wind chimes than just suspending some randomly cut lengths of pipe in a circle, with some kind of knocker in the middle. The chimes must be properly tuned which means, cut to the exact right length. Otherwise it’s like listening to any other instrument, being played, out of tune 😖. I reserved my comment until the final outcome was revealed, hoping for a crafty “rabbit-out-of-the-hat-trick”, but I’m afraid it was not to be. The stair skirting doesn’t work. A curved stair should give a ‘light’, flowing, almost floating statement. The skirt boards, going all the way to the ground, really weighs the whole thing down like an anchor. There are other ways to create the support needed on a curved stair. I doubt it would help much, but maybe painting the skirt material white could help a little. 🤷♂

Your decks look as good as the great DECKS BY BROOKS !
Love it!
Have you ever used biscuit cutter to inset a hidden fastener on the inside of non-slotted boards to reduce the number of face screws?
Why not nose the tread over the riser?
