    So useful. I am just a homeowner who wants to understand what is needed to replace a deck. This helps in selection of a contractor and specifications.

    Excellent tips through out. Something as simple as placing your screws in line in your hand or pocket...so true. I thought about doing that after jumbling screws and poking my hand digging in my belt for screws. As for the "I'm 1/8 inch off" on screw spacing, you are amazing at the details you go through. I have learned so much from this channel and enjoy the sarcasm here and there.

    Great content. A lot of it should be obvious to a professional, but your attention to detail in your explanations keep my coming back for more. Thanks for posting!

    Dude, I’ve learned so much from this channel and your IG. Really helping me on my deck build. It’s not perfect, but I’m no Dr Decks. Appreciate all the info.

    I had to clamp mine one at a time. I put a saw blade in between board to have something to clamp to. works great

    That’s a good point. Got me wondering if clips can be more forgiving by deflecting without damaging the board. Thanks Dr. Decks! You have an excellent bedside manner!!

    I use blue chalk all the time, no issues. Terry cloth towel and comes right off. 😁👍🏻

    Do you have a video somewhere explaining why you prefer to face-screw as opposed to using hidden deck anchors?

    • @vontrap6942
      @vontrap6942 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I would say that face screwing the board is a lot stronger than using those clips that go on the sides. I would prefer using the clips just because it takes less time - no need to plug any holes.

    Nice video! I have been building decks alone for almost ten years. I don’t hire anyone usually unless I need help. One of the biggest challenges for me is being the business owner. Taking care of tax stuff, running to meet a new client while trying to focus on a current job, designing, estimating, communicating constantly…but I think the biggest is finding the profit I need to hire 2+ more guys to take care of most of the builds while I do that business stuff. Adding in social media videos is a must too. Good luck, hope your busy!

    Do you ever notice colors not matching? I know people complain about different batches of the same color decking not being the same exact color. I would think the plugs may have the same issue. I was thinking of using concealoc and just using the cortex plugs on the ends. My decking will mostly be on a 45. What are your thoughts. My deck is about 900 sq ft. I plan on using timbertech vintage.

    Hi, I've recently subscribed to your channel; I think it's great. I would like to determine if the IRWIN DECK TOOL KIT will work for me. I have been unsuccessful in finding the thickness of the DECK TOOL KIT tongue as I install boards with a 4mm (5/32). Would you mind letting me know the exact thickness of the tongue. Many thanks,

    The manufacturers instructions says use a drill and not a driver to install the board screws. I see you use a driver. Why?
